[Q] Widgets issue - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My Arc with 62Fw is with unlocked bootloader and rooted. I have flashed it with one of the prerooted .62 stock roms available on this forum and the kernel now I have is [email protected]#19.
Now I am not able to add widgets on my homescreen.I have installed HD widgets and it does not show in the add widget list. The same with Battery solo widget.
What should i do now to add the widgets added?
Rgds,

Obviously the first thing is ensure the apps are on internal memory, not your sd card. Did you download directly from the market, or restore from a backup?

[Q] Putting Rooted Rom + Stock Kernel

Hi! I just want to know if i can put the kernel of the phone downloaded directly of htcdev.com on a DeOxed Stock Rom? I'm Having Problems with the Icons on folders of the apps installed on the sd, appear the default icon of the apps, not the real icons of the apps...

[Q] What are the must have apps/tweaks/etc. after rooting your Xperia Play ?

Hey guys! I have finally rooted my device with DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit (zergRush Exploit) and bootloader's unlocked too.
Now please tell me what are the must have have apps or tweaks to install to increase Xperia Play's performance ? What is the next thing to do after rooting ?
My firmware is still stock 3.0.A.2.181
And, I have also heard about Chainfire3D driver.. does it work with Xperia Play or increase gaming graphics quality by any chance ?
any suggestions from your personal experience ?
Thanks. =)
1. Titanium Backup
2. Rom Manager (and flash ClockWorkMod within it)
3. SuperCharger ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 )
4. Absolute System Root tools (good for changing system font, boot animations, adblocker etc...)
These I recommend to install after root.

QFT. I also recommend moving the Davik cache to cache to free up app space and using Link2SD to move apps to your SD card if you have a lot of apps. I doubt you're running the stock launcher but if you are I suggest getting launcher pro or Go Launcher. I think Launcher Pro is a little faster (IMO) and smooth but Go Launcher is crazy customizable if that's your thing.
*Edit*
You should also look into flashing Doom's Kernel, it contains great optimizations and the ability to overclock.

Hmm. So you can only update CMW through Rom Manager? Was some time ago so my memory fails me. I have not unlocked my bootloader yet.
You only boot recovery now you cannot flash it or you will end up with a brick.

Thanks to this!
DooMlords latest sd-ext mounting feature in CWM greatly helps Link2sd mount the partition on boot. Worked like a charm
Every reboot, Link2sd never fails to detect or didnt need to re-mount the ext2 script..
and oh, ext2 for me is better than the ext3 file format for the partition. Just sayin'

What to do after root?

Hi all,
I've rooted my Xperia Play, and was wondering what can I do with it now? I know I can do stuff liek install Titanium backup which requires root, but I can't install any custom ROMS with just root can I? :/
First thing I would do is install CWM Recovery, then make a nandroid back up of your phone!
As far as custom ROMS go, if you unlock your Bootloader you can flash any custom ROM, without a Unlocked Bootloader, you will only be able to flash custom ROMS based off your stock ROM, via CWM Recovery, using the restore feature.
Some other things you can do is remove any bloatware, install the camera mod app, (allows you to take pics using the "R" button) install Bravia Engine, apply some tweaks in build.prop, apply the setInstallLocation 2 tweak using a terminal emulator, (allows you to remove some apps the dont normally support app2sd feature, then when you re-download the app, it will either be installed automatically to the SD Card, or you can send it to SD through app manager)..... and the list goes on!
Since this same question gets asked almost DAILY, I would suggest you spend some time looking through and READING the forum threads addressing such questions. Then you will have a better idea of what can be done and how. That way you can get specific answers to specific questions.

ROM is very good good battery life in standby. But i have one problem with "Permission Manager" eg if some app need root access first time Permission Manager crash, but if i go to Permission Manager and allow that apps to root access (make rule) then everything is OK, that's is annoying only with new app requesting root permission first time, after create rule there is no problem I don`t know if only my have that problem :silly:

You can try SuperSu instead of the permission manager and it will work ok after that. Ohh and by the way shouldn't this post be moved to Acro thread ?
thanks for tip
P.S. If i don`t create this ROM it`s can`t go to Development section for Acro S, that`s why is here more info you find here: LINK
Flashed this yest. Works fine with locked bootloader.
The only problem is few apps are in chinese.. And even the clock widget has chinese font on it.. Any way to make it fully english?
And i noticed that my free ram is always low... Its always orange... Not much apps running at the background. Any idea?
And how do i flash GAPPS?
I install the zip from CMW but nothing at all..
for full English try select English(UK) language even if is selected in the phone settings and reboot phone.
For me google app works fine
Ok... If i want to flash GAPPS now.... Do i need to wipe data/cache/dalvik?
Sorry but wat are the apps in the GAPPS package?
How do i get Google Now on miui?
How do I install cwm on locked bootloader?

no need to wipe data/cache/dalvik, Inside GAPPS is Google Search, Googla Play Store, Gmail, Google Talk, not sure about Google Maps ( available in Google Play Store)
Where you store GAPPS.zip file? in internal SD or external ? Some of CWM Recovery showing only internal SD

4.2.2 missing Widgets

I have installed stock 4.2.2 & is it just me or have people noticed music & various other widgets have vanished?
Is there a place I can install manually?
Thx

If that helps in any way, there is nothing missing here :/ I installed the stock 4.2.2 this morning and I have all the widgets...
Maybe it's a problem with the .zip stock ROM?? Maybe they will work just fine if you re-install the stock ROM.
If you want to push them manually, extract the .zip stock ROM on your PC, go to system/app and find all the widget apk files and push them to the system through a root file explorer
Hope I helped
