I got GO Launcher and I really love it, so I was thinking of getting rid of ADW. However, when I open it in Application Manager (Settings->Apps->Manage Apps), the Uninstall option can't be clicked. So, how do I uninstall it?
Two options.
Get a file explorer that can mount the file system as read-write and delete the adw.apk in /system/app
or
Use the Root Uninstaller app
You can also use titanium backup (also maybe create a backup in case something goes wrong) and easy uninstall.

Go into preferences/Backup Folder Location/Detect/Whole Device....should let you manually add the folder that way

just to piggyback on what he said...just make sure the folder that TB is set to matches the folder of the backup
i have transferred apps from my old vibrant to my SGS2 and it worked perfectly

i used to use mybackup root, they have an option just to save and restore those, i remember there was a glitch in one of the updates several months back, but i assume that should be fixed now. The glitch was that i couldn't delete the messages i restored. I know weird. lol
I use Titanium for both.

im sorry, i meant that estrong is accessing root folders, thought my phone is not rooted yet!
Root is needed to rewrite the stuff in the root folder. The option that says mount r/w requires root. So although you can see the files doesn't mean you can edit them

I know there are ways, and also post regarding this same topic. I'm just wondering what is a good way ti get rid of those stuck applications that I never use but can't get rid if.

Yeah, just use a file manager.
Browse to system/app and delete what you don't want, just make sure to make a backup first.
Settings / Apps / All, then choose an app and hit "Disable". Not exactly uninstalling, but the closest you'll ever get if you are not rooted.

Hey guys, so I just flashed my first ever ROM today  and I chose AOKP since I had some issues with CM10. I'm enjoying every minute of it :good:
But my only issue is that I want to uninstall Nova Laucher from my phone, but I can't. I just want to do this so that I can install Nova Prime. I've tried googling some stuff up by I couldn't find anything. So is there a way to remove it or no? Thanks!
Wait. So you have Nova and want to install Nova prime? As far as I know Prime is just the "pro" version. Just go to play store and install prime. You need nova first before you can install Nova prime. Unless I'm missing what your trying to do.

You need both. Nova Prime is the unlocker for Nova Launcher to make it the pro version.

I kinda want to remove it so then I can install the apk I have that has them combined..
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Use a root explorer to navigate to /system/app/Novalauncher.APK and delete it from there.
I tried to delete it but I cant delete it because it says its a read-only file
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Not sure how you can have one that's combined unless you made it yourself. Nova Prime is a paid app and doesn't come combined. Not sure why you wouldn't want the market version (which is just a key). It will stay updated if you install it from the market.
