Recently I had a big problem with my Google Play Store and couldn't download anything or play videos in the youtube app.In desperation to find a fix I relashed my ROM with Odin, did a factory reset before clearing the dalvik cache which seemed to fix it.Because of this I had to re-root and uninstall lots of bloat and set up the V6 script. My phone is running almost perfect now except since that ordeal my battery life isnt what it used to be.It drains terribly even on moderate use. Before all the problems,I had de-bloated and was easily getting over 24hrs on light-moderate usage. Now I'm lucky to get 14hrs and can drain the whole thing in under 5hrs on heavy usage.I check the battery usage stats and the closest thing to the display is Android system.Could it be the ROM posted on this forum is more juice hungry than what I had before, even though its the exact same FW(2.3.6 XEU XXLA2)?Its the only reason I can think of since everything else is in order.Any ideas guys?

Hi got this tip from the galaxy ace forum "barebone ics sunday". If it helps you can try it; I've tried it and somehow managed to get a bit more juice. On moderate - heavy usage (talktime > 1.5hrs, > 25sms, email polling every 3 hours, 15mins playing PES + vid clip 5-10mins, + some calculator work) I was able to get my phone to stay alive for 15-16hrs..maybe 'cos got rid some bloatware may have somehow extended standby time..just give it a shot..it may help a bit..

Yes I've tried it on my Galaxy Ace and applied the same set of procedures on my W.
Yes, positive feedback I'd say, although the difference is very subtle/small.
Maybe others can give it a try and report if they feel the difference.
On the ACE it was remarkable maybe because the ROM was stripped down to the bare-bone i.e. No calculator, No Calendar, No Gallery, etc.

My phone's battery drains really fast (didn't had this before)
Well I found these steps:
1. Fully drain your battery, play some games, music, etc.. NO PORN!!
2. Let your battery cool for atleast 2 minutes
3. Restart phone to remove residual charge( it will boot only halfway)
4. After the phone shuts down remove battery and let it cool for atleast 2 minutes.
5. Re insert battery and charge your phone in OFF mode.
6. After the phone reaches 100% charge boot into recovery (Power+Home+Volume_up button)then go int o clowckword recovery by applying skingt1980 zip
7. choose advance option .
8. Wipe battery stats
9. Press Power/Back and Reboot your phone
10. Wait till the phone reaches 100% charge and disconnect charger
11. Have a happy battery life !!!!!!!
Question is: is this safe to do without any hard bricking etc ...

You cant brick your phone calibrating battery! Just don't do it over and over again cuz then you'll have to replace your battery.

Ok thnx will try it out tommorow
that's safe but useless. battery calibration only useful for smart battery, like the one on notebook, but not for dumb battery, like the one in cellphone. smart battery keep battery statistic so it can provide you data like :
- how much electric charge saved in last charge and how much average power usage so you know how much time left before you need recharge
- how much actual battery capacity and initial capacity so you know when to buy new battery
cellphone don't have (and don't need) that features because it's using dumb battery. battery meter in status bar not actually represents the electric charge in battery, but electric voltage of battery.
battery stat in android phone only record power usage for every running process and don't know at all about battery capacity. and you don't need to wipe manually, it's reset every time you fully charge your phone.
That's mean no need overclock.
I don't think it safe

calibrating battery means we will delete some file inside /data partition. it doesn't related to the battery itself. its save, but useless. there's no proof that this method will increase our battery life.
Its completely useless.
It deals with batterystats.bin file in the data/system/ directory
and as a google engineer puts it..
Dianne Hackborn said:

My phone was all fine, till i flashed Arco's CM10, then my phone started randomly switching off. When started, it showed 0% battery, which was weird as it was always properly charged.
Then i restored my CM9 backup, to check if it was a ROM bug, but I got the same error again.
Attached screenshot for battery stats. Battery problem or Software bug ? Anyone with same bug ?
After flashing the ROM, did you wipe battery stats? If not, that will probably be the cause of the weird readings......
Basically, over time, your phone would have calibrated the battery usage to your previous ROM....when you installed your new ROM (that has different battery usage patterns) your phone is still trying to apply the stats from the old ROM which is what is causing the problems.....wipe your battery stats then complete 3 or 4 full charge - full discharge cycles, and things *should* settle down....

But it gets weirder and weirder :/

Try the battery calibrator on the playstore.
If it still persist then the problem is in your battery.. suggest you change the battery with the new one
Pressing "Thanks" button will be much appreciated if user's posts useful for you
Or you can try this:
Clear battery stats via CWM. Turn off your phone, and charge it. Wait until the charge indicator shows up on screen. Then turn on your phone and leave it until it's full.
Sometimes when I get batt weird reading, that trick works for me.
In some occasion I found that offline charging and online charging shows different battery level.

Hi guys.
I have a strange problem. My Gio charges from 3% to 100% in 3 minutes. It says fully charged...
Of course it's not real charging, if i unplug it, and start to play a game or just see my mails with wifi, it consumes that 100% on 5-10 minutes...
I've tried to charge the phone all night and the result is 2-3h of working time. If i use power consuming apps, like games, than it's just half an hour... I think that the phone stops somehow the charging process if it reaches to 100%.
I've tried to calibrate the battery, with program from market, and wiping batterystats from CWM too... It didn't help...
The strange thing is, that last week it worked well. Now something happened and it's ruinig my life...
I had THIS ROM when it started.
I've changed to THIS ROM, and it didn't solve the problem. All caches were wiped during flashing...
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help!

Hm you said you tried to calibrate the battery so it`s weird. I have sometimes the same problem but after a calibration it is fixed. I can only recommend to charge it overnight , make sure you`re not overclocking it , make sure you don`t use wifi , mobile data , gps , see if there`s an improvement keep it only with calls and messaging for 1 day see how that goes. Check also the battery maybe it has a spillage altough i don`t think that`s the case. Sorry that`s all i can say
Thanks for the advices.
I've just set the CPU governor to smartassv2. It was on Ondemand. Now I can discharge the phone with playing within 15 minutes. It's better than it was on ondemand...
I will try to use it like a regular phone, let's see how it works...

I've a battery old as yours (04.05.2011)
With any custom ROM my battery life is of 3 hours...
With stock is kinda 5 hours with 2G connection activated.
I'm waiting for a new battery, but if you want to keep your phone alive up to then:
- flash a stock ROM
- install as few apps as you can (I've G+, Stream (FB client), FB messanger, Viber, WhatsApp, App Cache Cleaner, AppZorter and xda app, nothing else T_T)
- do NOT use kernel different from stock
- hope you good luck because first times battery will be strange, after some full usage and discharge now I've the battery life I told before
Hope this could help

Was skeptical about the N5100 battery life since it only have 4600mAH battery.
Now that I have bought it, it seems my worries are confirmed.
I'm running stock rom, only rooted it without other modification.
Installed and have greenify running. Not using any sim card, only using it on WiFi.
Playing a video using MX Player, drained up about 20% of battery for a 45min video. That's rather heavy imo.
Normal browsing and reading forums eats up about 4% per 6min of use.
Is this normal? Or is it my battery has significantly degraded? Cuz I bought this 2nd hand 8 months old.
Btw the above test were with Power Saving mode(CPU and Screen) and screen brightness was at 25%~30%. Currently on 4.2.2.
And does using the S Pen eats up significantly more battery?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Do a search on battery and charging by me, in the Q&A threads. I won't repeat myself here, but I go into how to correct drain issues. Many developers will push their apps for calibration. The real trick is discovering what is doing the drain. I have seen for myself how one app can do a lot of damage with media. Normally I get 12% per hour on battery usage while Miracasting Netflix to my tv, and about 10% on normal usage with WIFI always on. I have MXplayer and a bunch of apps as well running so I am not going to get the same power savings as with a cleaned up stock ROM without any apps, what would the point of having a tablet if that is the case???? I guess peeps like to show off when it comes to numbers. I like to show off when it comes to usability and function without all the apps get in the way.
my battery stats
I'm running CivZ-FLEX-BEAM-REV3.6.2 ROM.
Installed and have greenify running. Not using any sim card, only using it on WiFi, even off the WiFi before I off the screen.
Even use underclock to 1.2Ghz cuz only used for normal browsing, nothing intense that require more power.
Here's my battery stats:
Is this normal? Or is it my battery has significantly degraded? Cuz I bought this 2nd hand 8 months old, now 9 or 10 months already.
Now considering should I replace the battery or just get a powerbank to help.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

From what the graphs show... it looks like the battery could be going bad, as there has some that say Samsung is aware of bad batteries in some units. You could contact them, but you will need to un-root if sending to Samsung for repair.
Since you are rooted, I suggest installing xposed framework and install Wanam DVFS Disabler for Xposed. It is a standalone utility from the complete Wanam xposed app. Once installed make sure both xposed is functional, and the app in xposed is enabled. These apps act as a separate process from the OS. So installing them requires user interaction for activation and updating, along with a reboot most of the time.
Once they are running... it is best to turn off the tablet for 1 minute and then plug in the USB charger and wait til it is showing 100%. Then turn on the tablet. You can unplug the USB power cable and wait 1 minute, then plug it in. Take note if the charge takes less than a minute to get to 100%. If it takes a minute or more... you will need a stop watch, as it should take about 15 to 20 seconds to go to fully charged, unless you have music or media running at the time. If it does charge quick, you can then disconnect and do another days worth of use and check your stats. Hopefully disabling DVFS will cure your issue if it is not battery related.
As for unrooting, make sure you do a clean uninstall, and have any apps that require root uninstalled. If running triangle away uninstall that as well. You may have to check within the apps settings to make sure you uninstall properly, as to uninstall from play store or the system may not properly remove the app.
Updated Battery Stats
this is my updated battery stats, now I'm suspecting it maybe due to calibration problem?
My screen on time is now 2 hrs 45 mins, and for the last 45 mins it has been running on that last 1% of battery(but with screen dimmed, as brightness is automatically dimmed and can't be adjusted when below 5%).
Even until now the device haven't auto shut down due to run out of battery yet even though been running 45mins SOT for that 1%.
Calibration problem? I've tried calibrating using calibration apps, which I charged to 100% then press calibrate, but didn't help.

Sudden drop of more than 3% at any level after doing the DVFS disable and properly charging can be one of two things.
A bad battery, or bad charging cable. Yep, I have had two bad Samsung cables, one did exactly what is happening with you, and the other did a melt down at the USB connection on my tablet. If you have a good cable from a Blackberry or a Sony/Ericson device, you can try that. I have moved over to Sony Xperia cables, as they are pretty well built and longer.
If another cable does not solve your issues, I suggest unrooting and cleaning up rooted apps before having Samsung service your tablet. It very well could be a bad battery.
thanks for the reply, I think I'll just resort to sending it back to Samsung to fix it.
Now I have made a nandroid backup already, then I flashed stock firmware, so my device is now unrooted and on stock firmware, however my flashcount is still there, and now I can't run triangle away cuz my device is unrooted already.
If I were to root it, it'll flash custom recovery again then it won't be on stock firmware anymore.

Your unroot sequence was done out of order.
Set USB debug
Root stock rom with saferoot.zip
Install triangle away
perform clear of counters
Verify after clearing in about device that custom is not set.
If so make sure triangle away is set to clear and perform clearing.
Remove triangle away
Remove SuperSU through the settings, clear for reinstall.
To make sure everything is proper... do a factory reset.
Once those steps are done, your tablet should be stock and able to perform OTA or Kies updates, without any issues with counter and root.

Have you tried a battery calibration app such as the one by NeMa in the PlayStore? It requires root but it basically asks you to charge your device to 100% which is done from empty to max in about 3 hours. At this point you go in the app while its still plugged in and "clear" the batterystats. This is the file that tells the device how much charge it can hold and on some devices this file gets buggy/glitched. It will wipe this file away and generate a new one based on the charge the battery holds at max. It then asks you to use the device as normal until it dies and recharge to full afterwards. This has worked for many and I hope it will work for you as well.
If you have excessive battery drain look at the Power settings and review the usage. If it shows a green line on awake and it doesn't show the same matching the screen on time then you have a background app sucking battery from the device. Facebook and its Messenger are known to be the culprits but if you download Greenify from the PlayStore. It will allow you to hibernate practically every app so there is no battery drain when your device screen is off. In combination with this app I am able to get an average day and a half of use with no charge and normal use with Videos, Music, Facebook, Messenger; etc. I average I use about 6-10 hours on this device with pure stock w/ root & Greenify with battery calibration via app done.

Unfortunately, the lack of rapid reaction because I was too busy
Pressing the power switch for exactly two minutes and the device will tell you Alglaq Do you want to or not agreed to the demand and calibration Congratulations to you
Thank you
I fixed my battery issue. the exposed software killed mine relating to the same issue i believe you had or have. reporting wrong percentage. once had 50 percent, took it back out of my pocket and within 5 mons i had 4%. wouldnt charge.
Power it off... hold all 3 buttons (power+volume up+volumedown) after 15 seconds it will boot back up. this calibrated my battery. hope this works for you.
Wrong battery percentage report is fixed by HTC on 1.58 rom update. it works fine on 1.58 Rom
My battery on my htc is draining fast I think it went from 100% to 83% percent in like 20 minutes is this normal? I have disabled everything that I'm able to disable on this phone but once it gets to 70% the drainage kinda slows down
