Hello XDA, I've got a rooted Xperia Play running the Xperia NXT ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368). I would like to unlock the bootloader and boot into fastboot mode but when I enter *#*#7378423#*#* and check the Bootloader status, I see "Bootloader unlock allowed: No". I've heard there is a way around this, could someone help me? I'd love to install the doom ICS kernel on my phone and a new ROM. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Phone is AT&T, R800i, and I also know what my IMEI number is

Yes you can unlock your bootloader with the settool method. You have to pay somebody to unlock your bootloader for you. By unlocking your bootloader your simlocked device will be unlocked for whatever service provider you want. I recommend alejandrissmo.
Hello,
I'm new in Xperia Play section so please be patient. I have problem with my new buy Xperia Play, I buy it in Orange Polska (Polish) operator and phone seems permanently locked. It have simlock but I pay this bloody thief for unlock but when it comes to bootloader its says 'no' to unlock and I give up with this.
I try to flash ftf package needed for locked bootloader ROMs using Flashtool to use rom but it fails - I stuck at 1-3% and nothing happen. Now I use 4.0.2.A.0.42 and can't change it for any newer.
My question is how can I unlock phone in any safe and quite cheap method? I think about selling phone but i wish I can't just have fun with it.
I think you need to have your sim lock officially unlocked with the code since it survives .ftf flashes...I don't know about your boot loader...if it says no then that's that unlees someone has a better solution...

Simlock is officially unlocked by operator, so it working as intended, but fastboot looks locked.
Ok my bootloader is locked, my phone is the At&T xperia play. I rooted my phone recently and found out that my bootloader was locked and couldn't be unlocked on the service info on the phone. I recently used x-parts by pvyParts, and that helped me a lot with putting Aurora play 1.0.1 rom on my locked xperia play. I really want to install lupus kernel on my phone for gaming is it possible for me to install a kernel though though x parts on the CWM recovery menu ?

Dont spread misinformation! R800at cant be unlocked for free from SONY. The only way to unlock R800at version is to pay for the bootloader unlock.
i heard that it isn't possible to unlock the bootloader after the date 12w11.. mine is built in 12w36 so no way to unlock the bootloader.
if i use this video (unlocking via testpoint) it works? Because in description is standing if there is standing bootloader unlock allowed: no you have to root it at first!?
mine is rooted and there is still standing no so can i unlock my phone with testpoint!?
A friend has the xperia arc (lt15i) and a guy from Handybörse (so it's called in germany) unlocked his bootloader but at phone were standing 12w24 !?
i dont know how he unlocked it but it works and before there were standing no and now there is standing yes??
So i can unlock my lt18i with this video (sorry its in german but i think everybody know what this programm is and what it means)??
Thank you guys
Hope for fast answers!!

Phone after 12W11 can be unlocked via official method only, cannot be unlocked via testpoint.

ok, but mine is 12w36 and i cannot unlock by official method..
so if i cancle the sim/netlock it is able to unlock it?
because i have bought my smartphone by 3 (provider in austria) and there is a branding and sim/netlock.

No, you are one of the unlucky ones, who can not unlock bootloader at all.
Removing sim-lock/branding does not allow you to unlock your phone, because fastboot is disabled and only way to enable is via test point method, which is impossible at the moment for the phones manufactured 12W11.
ohhhhhh...
but it worked at the arc from a friend...
there was standing unlock allowed no and he disabled sim/netlock and there stand bootloader unlock allowed yes..
manufactor at 12w14 :/
so i dont know

the bootloader isnt the problem. but i want to flash any kernel to overclock my phone. but i think this isnt possible on my device so ill forget it. i dont want a better android version. i only want to use my gingerbread roms faster and use all of them. thats why..
im happy enough if i can flash kernel
But to flash custom kernel, you need to unlock your boot loader, which is impossible unless you get rid of the carrier lock.
