Battery health - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is there any way to test the health of my battery i think it may have been damaged due to overheating.

if so just visit a Sprint store that has technicians and explain that you're battery is not holding a charge anymore. They will likely just swap it out for you free of charge.

Battery issues on diff roms

So my wife and both have t989's hers is running jugs and i'm running beastmod. We both have spare OEM batteries, and what i'm seeing is that every time we swap batteries, a fully charged spare battery will read 88% upon reboot(even confirmed this by charging to 100% in the phone then swapping to make sure wasn't external charger defect) but if you put it on the charger it hits 100% within a min. Has anyone else come across this with using spare batteries

Also forgot to add once it's charged to 100% it gets froze there until you do reboot and then it's normal for days doing daily charge until the next time i'm unable to charge and do a battery swap..since it's happening both our phones it don't feel like would be a phone defect as what ate the odds 2 phones under one roof have same defect and don't seem be a ROM issue as were on diff ROMs...so it's leading me to think maybe t989 in general does this?? Idk any insight would be nice

thats weird. bro..i personally wouldnt be swapping batties..the phones like to settle with the same one for little whilw if it makes sense..plus uyou can try to recalibrate the battery once it hits 100% or wipe battery stats in recovery..?

I dont swap em unless I need to...I travel alot and listen music and watch movie on plane which drains battery and can't re charge until I get in a rental car so have swap em out or have a dead phone.

Battery drains even while on the charger!?

I've had this phone for 1.5 months now flashing daily never had any problems until three days ago my battery charges so slow that I can't keep my phone charged it's even draining while I have it on the charger! I know one ONE time I couldn't find my Samsung wall adapter so I used my iPad charger but the voltage is the same and its at 2amps so it can't be the culprit can it?? any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Oh BTW I wiped data, both cache, /system, fresh flash, fix perm., baterry stats, all of the above and still dies slowly on the charger... maybe I need another cable? Iddk :/

I think I charged my battery once or twice with a nexus 7 charger (2 amps). I didn't explode or anything.
Go to a sprint store and ask nicely to test their own battery. See if maybe your battery died (don't discharge this type of batteries below 10 or so %, that damages them over time and the capacity is reduced).
Also thought I should mention I have all sync support off..

When you say test their battery do you mean just to check if it charges? Maybe I should go with my charger and all? But honestly I can't find my s3 wall adapter I'm using my Epic 4g Touch adapter lol!!!!

Sprint will give u one at the store under warranty. Samsung will ship you one, even out of warranty, as they warranty the batteries for 18months vs the 12 for the device itself. Or so said the guy at Samsung that sent me mine for my E4GT last week

Is it Chinese?
Is it from a trusted company?
Did you noticed any battery drain or lesser battery life or longer charging time with normal charger?
Possibilities are the car charger isn't optimal for your phone.
Buy from a known store or a Samsung dealer or some other trusted or reputed store.

It's samsung...i used before for my galaxy s player.also galaxy charging curent show me 1698 with 1800 1800 wich is perfect,no?it takes about 2 hours i think to recharge...i don't know what to do because i need it...my invertor 12v-220 v is broken so i can't use wall charger.

Try the charger with some other phone.
You really need to charge it with a wall charger or pc to property diagnose the cause.

Hmm i'm almost sure now that is because of perseus kernel.

Install "Battery widget Reborn!" or any other app that has such feature - and tell us how many degrees does the battery heat up to. If it's over 40-50 celsius, there's definitely something wrong with it.

Problem with battery or not?

I did something stupid but it was an emergency so I had to, I didn't fully charge my note 2 twice. I charged it to 65% and plugged of the charger for that emergency and waited for it to go to 5% then charged it but another emergency that had me to plug it off again when It reached 60% 65% again and waited for it to drain and then charged to 100%
Now I feel I got a shorter battery life did I ruin something or mess up something with what I did?

You shouldn't worry, it had not damaged your battery! The best way to preserve your battery is to stay between 15% - 80%
No you've not spoiled your battery just your mindset.
Jut drain your battery completely and make a full charge at once without break

You've ruined your Note 2 completely. It will forever have a short battery life. You can go ahead and send your Note to me and I will see what I can do.
Dude, you can't harm Li Ion batteries with incomplete charges. They built to do that.

Inexplicable Idle Battery Drain

So here's the short version of a very long ongoing story.
My fiancé and I each bought the GS3 back in October of 2012. Since then, she has been the victim of terrible idle battery life. Being more technically minded than she, I have done literally everything I would have done on my own unit to hers. I rooted it to take advantage of apps like Greenify and betterbatterystats. I even heard the app Wakelock Detector was a good way of pairing with Greenify to eliminate Rouge apps and bad wakelocks.
However it is now over a year and two separate batteries later and she is STILL suffering from this idle battery. Today she had a total of 8 minutes of on screen time and her battery died after about 6 hours of being idle. None of the previously mentioned apps have detected any sort of suspicious activity and I've tried factory resetting the phone numerous times.
Can anyone shed any kind of light on just what the heck might be plaguing her device? I've never experienced battery drain as severe as her unit has demonstrated.

Since its less than an year, did you try going in for a warranty exchange? Maybe its an issue with the device itself?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It's been over a year unfortunately. Every time we tried filing for a replacement inquiry Samsung has screwed something up so we never were able to get it exchanged.

Have you tried swapping batteries for a day since you both have s3s and test out if the battery is faulty or just the phone? If this is not the case, you can try install a custom Rom, I suggest cyanogenmod, it's really light weight and doesn't take up power when idle. I combo cyanogenmod 10.2 stable with greenify and I get 15hrs of moderate light use and after 15hrs I still have 30 percent life left.

I gave her my stock battery that came with my GS3 since I was given a Hyperion 4200 mAh external battery. I originally thought it was a faulty battery but my battery is not helping the issue. She's still having terrible battery life. The OP was using my old battery.
