Ok. After having started the vertical lines thread I don't want to seem like a negative Nancy.
But my device has just been rebooting randomly like probably 5-10 times a day. Anyone else have this issue?
I'm assuming its a software issue knowing Samsung. But I just want to confirm with other people. I may exchange mine if I'm the only one having this issue.
I so really like the device though. Runs fast and smooth. Just stop rebooting on me! Lol
It did it once while I was writing this.

I have had one random reboot that I've noticed... Unfortunately it happened to me today as I was calling to speak with a guy about a possible job... He bought the "my phone dropped" answer I gave him when I called back but there was a frantic moment or two on my end when it happened...
What apps have you installed?

I did some reading and it looks like one of the other galaxy sII variants had reboot issues with SD cards.
I have a 16gb Samsung card I put into mine. I'm not sure if that's related. Perhaps I should just exchange.

If its an SD card issue then take out the SD card and see what happens or try formatting the SD card. I also have a 16gb SD card that I took out of my old Hd2 and my phone is working flawlessly. Definitely the best phone I've used to date and I've owned 2 Nexus S, 1 Nexus One, 2 G2x, 1 Hd2, 4 myTouch 4G, 1 myTouch 4g Slide, 1 Sensation 4g, 2 Vibrant's, Hd7 etc.
My point is I know my stuff when it comes to these Smart/Super Phones and I can say this one tops them all.

Same here, and also almost the same amout of reboots per day. I even flashed the Stock, deodexed, rooted ROM posted and still rebooted. It always do it when it's in my leather case. Haven't seen it yet do it out of the case. I'm assuming it might be the magnet on the case.
My opinion the volume rocker & power sticks out a little bit to much.
Anyways I'm getting my replacement from Wirefly today. Let's see how the 2nd unit does.

Hate to necro a thread, but better than starting a new one for the same issue Same problem as zoth...stock rooted deodexed ROM, 16GB SD card (but it was doing it before I put the SD card in), not under or over clocked, maybe 20 installed apps. Mine also seems to reboot when in the leather case. I go to make a call or text, pull it out, and its rebooting.
Is there a known fix? Or just return it? Just got it a week ago.
I've had one reboot but I was messing with clocks and voltages. Other than that, smooth sailing here.

OK. I didnt know if it was the ROM or the hardware. Im currently using Mr X's Tmoble SGH-T989UVKL1 Stock, Rooted, Lightly Tweaked, 100% [CIQ Free]
I was having this problem for a while, turned out my internal memory had somehow gotten corrupted.
To test is this is your problem, make a nandroid backup and then restore to it. If there is an error while restoring, then your memory is corrupted and you need to run SuperWipe.
In case you're worried about losing your data, at least in my case, I could still restore to the backup that had the corruption, but restoring it would cause the corruption to be present again, but obviously no guarantees.

Hi everyone, I know this has been brought up thousands of times but I have yet to get a clear answer. On cm9 and AOKP I can get about an hour of on screen time with my stock battery. With ICS leaks I get about 1.5hours. And with GB I get maybe 2 hours on screen time. I'm not sure if its my phone or battery or the ROMS but something is not quite right. I got my phone in August 2011 and i have had 3 phone replacements and 2 battery replacements since then. Every single battery/phone has had this problem and I am unable to get a new battery because apparently my batteries warranty expired in January, 5 months after I got the phone. I'm pretty sure its suppose to last a year so idk. Anyway I'm hoping SOMEONE can please help me with any tips on battery life with cm9 and AOKP. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I recently rooted my phone (SGH-I747) this was two weeks ago. Everything was good no problem nothing at all. This morning I restart my phone and it will not start again. The battery was full charge and I tried other battery and does not work. There is no light when I try to charge it and there is no sign of life nothing at all. I tried to get into download mode but I could not. My question is there any hope that I can get my phone back I am really frustrating. :crying:
Try pulling the battery for 30 seconds. Reinsert the battery and see if your phone can boot.

My condolences. Same thing happened to my phone today. I called up AT&T, and they referred me to a local AT&T Repair Facility. They tried what they could, but in the end, they swapped my phone out. I ended up losing all my stuff that wasn't backed up in the cloud. Not a lot, and mostly all replaceable... but annoying just the same.

lol. I had an iPhone since the first gen came out. switched to this device and will never look back.
FYI: I've had defective iphones too. There will always be a defective device from someone. no mfg is perfect. Hardware fails, it isn't anyone's fault. Its why there are return policies and warranties. I've taken my iphones for replacements and I've taken my android phones in for replacements.
P.S. If you had more than one bad experience with the same product I would understand your frustration. However, switching to a less powerful phone because of one bad experience is absurd.

My problems started from the day one. First time it did not accept my micro sim card and they replaced my phone and after one week the charger did not work and after one month they sent me a new one. now my phone is dead. Samsung customer service is the worse in this country I really had to fight with them just to send me a new charger. I will see what will happen tomorrow when I tell them that my phone is completely dead.
Hello
5 month Note 2 user that had almost no complaints till early april where my phone started lagging, restarting every few hours(it did restart once every 2-3 days since they day i bought it) and touch screen not being responsive. Result was the problem becoming worse and me having to search for it and finding out about SDS. I checked my phone through EMMC and it says my chip is insane... as soon as I saw that I tried backing everything up but as it turned out, it was too late..I've lost all my game data (I've managed to copy a few games but its a few stages back..for example my subway surfers save is like 2-3 months back...), i've lost ALL of my contacts and my smscontact backup says it has no contacts on the backupfile...
regardless, I sent it to the local Samsung retail and they kept it for a week, got it back today, same thing happening...They told me they found humidity + errors on my phone and they had to clear/wipe it out completely. Its been like 3-4 hours since i got it and it already got stuck at a black home screen error + unable to swap applications and once on a non-responsive touch screen. I contacted the Samsung retailer and he told me that it could be an error from my SD card. I highly doubt that, am using a san disk 32gb ultra speed and I only have movies on it actually so...
Now my 'questions'...What can I do? Rooting it can fix it? Or will it void my warranty completely? If I root and it breaks again can I unroot and send it to have it fixed? And if they cant fix it, do they replace my phone with another one? Like a new note 2 or a new samsung phone?
Thanks
Ps: already posted this on sprint forums by mistake and it was suggested to me to try removing my sd card..no difference

well it is what people say "symptoms of the sudden death" so probably and all says that( 5 months, strange behaviour. .) if they dont fix you can talk to them that probably it is SDS if not you'll have to wait until the phone dies or send lots of times (like a guy who said that here in xda) and they probably replace the motherboard. theres nothing at the moment to do if it have been affected by the corrupted data but you can update to the latest firmware which is suposed to have the fix
hope I answered your question

Was the 5 months too late for it to take effect?i already called them and they told me that they know nothing about the SDS.. they said they can only change my phones internal/motherboard (as they said "just the plaque not ur device"
Latest update is 4.1.2? Thats what i have.. they gave me the option of buying another phone..should i? Am afraid of getting another sds affected note

well the problem is that if the phone send some corrupted data to the chip when you were at 4.1.1 there's nothing to do.
The repair centre "doesn't know about it" because if they do know they'll have to asume that problem and they will lose money. The correct procediment is to change de motherboard however sometimes they just put an old one with the insane chip again. If you really want this phone and I assume that you do like it, when they replace and send it back update to 4.1.2 ASAP therefore they usually update before sending back.

They are already losing money when they fix my phone cause of full warranty.. i loved the phone but am disappointed right now and with the possibility of changing phones i dont mind..cause all in all it has its downsides..ie too big to carry, takes a looong time to charge and regardless ive already lost all my data so its already like i got a new phone..
How can i know if they changed my motherboard?

You should have a new imei if they changed mb i think.
I bought note because of the screen, dont mind using it with both hands thats the price you have to pay if you want that commodity of big display.
And its charging like every phone, maybe a little longer but instead you have great battery life.

Nobody loses money but Samsung. Your local samsung service center is not Samsung company. They are third companies that have an agreement with Samsung to fix samsung phones officially in your country.
They lose money only if they replace a motherboard that is already working or not covered under warranty (user faults).
Once I talked(personally) to one of Samsung services in my country, they said mostly they are not able to understand these new generation smartphones. Most of the time all they do is just replacing motherboards, they said
My suggestion to you, print several sudden death syndrome reported web pages and show them or email them if you can. Samsung is replacing bricked motherboards with no question asked (even rooted ones).
Media volume bar is disabled now...

Hey everyone, so I jumped to the HTC m8 and I hated it! Paid the restocking fee and got the note 3 again and my phone lags really bad. I have to either restart my phone or turn the screen off and on. I have until Tuesday before my 14 days are up and was wondering if rooting it and flashing a rom would fix the lag or should I exchange it?
Edit. Sorry I meant to post this in the Q&A section.

Rooting it and installing a custom rom/kernel always helps as you can debloat whatever apps you don't use with titanium backup pro, root explorer, trickster mod etc. I don't see how even with 3gb ram this phone lags, but not every phone is the same I suppose.
