Hello,
I try now since 2 hours to root my desire (it's non brnded and no simlock).
The bootloader is as i see it verion 0.92.
I have tried now 3 different Micro SD cards as goldcards and with the goldcards was never a problem. When i com to following point of the Tutorial:
5. Turn off your phone and turn it back on by holding down Back and Power until you see Fastboot come up on the screen. Push the Power button while highlighting Fastboot on the phone and Fastboot should show up in red now on the phone (if it doesn’t push Power again until it does).
6. Plug the phone in via USB cable to the computer.
7. Open the folder you extracted to the C drive and double click “step1-windows.bat” and wait for it to finish.
I receive following informations:

hmmm.... i find that a little to risky, but i gues it is just a question of time until a rootflash will be available for the new hboot... Don't you think?
The method you are trying downgrades your phone's software so I'm not sure why you think it's less risky. Also it'll never work on your phone (which might be a good thing, as if you have SLCD, it'd brick the screen).

So understanding you correctly: For the moment there is no way to have a modified rom on my sLCD Htc Desire?
There is; downgrade your bootloader and use a rom with slcd support. If you are afraid to do it, then don't. If you don't want to spent time finding the correct information, you should not root imho. Btw, this forum has a good search function, plus a sticky with all the info you will need.

thanks to this info, i gues i will be able to root the desire with slcd and without downgrade of the hboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750852
But: my question now is if after a successfull rooting i can futher continue with an mod or i'll still need to take care of the display "problem" ?

I'd strongly suggest you *don't* follow that thread. Also, it will downgrade your system. As has already been said this is the ONLY way to root the phone.

Now i'm confused.
You say this does the downgrade and here it sais "don't" do the downgrade: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
If you have hboot 0.92 then you have froyo, and you cannot root without downgrading down to android 2.1.
The thread you are looking at is out of date. The information you are given now is up to date.

All right.. Got it...
So let's do a summery:
- I need to do a downgrade of the hboot
- then i need to aply the brick fix as i have a SLCD
- then i do the root flash
- then i again the brick fix
- and finally i can do the mod upgrade (where maybe after i need to do the brick fix again?
is it important to do the goldcard after the downgrade of the hroot or can i do it when ever i want?
BTW: I'd like to flash LeeDrOiD V2.0a mod with EspressoTheme
No.

Hi everyone,
I've rooted my Wildfire and now it has 0.80.0007 bootloader with cyanogen 7.0.0 ROM. I'd like to flash my kernel but it says:
$./fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (2816 KB)... OKAY
writing 'boot'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
I've also tried to flash zimage:
$./fastboot flash zimage zImage
sending 'zimage' (2414 KB)... OKAY
writing 'zimage'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
I've read that this can be beacuse I have a locked bootloader but others on the forum have successfully flashed it. Do I have to upgrade HBOOT to 1.01.0001?
Please help
VandorTsab
Don't even think of upgrading to HBoot 1.01. This is unrootable and you will lose even the basic ability to install Custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod.
What you are trying to do requires S-OFF. Most probably, your device is still S-ON. S-OFF can be achieved using an XTC Clip (Which, incidentally works on HBoot 1.01), which is why there are others who can do it. AlphaRev 2.0, when it will be released, will also allow S-OFF on Wildfires with HBoot 0.80 which is already pre rooted.
Thank You for your answer.
The boot loader says it is S-OFF.
What else could it be?
When I start the command that I've written above, a green progressbar appears on the upper right corner on my wildfire and than it dissappears. Then ubuntu says the errors I've mentiond above.

There are a couple of solutions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731657
Since I personally use an S-ON phone, not very familiar with these commands.
Hey there,
I wanted to S-OFF my HTC Desire using alpharev.
Unfortunately I didnt read that this wont work when you were on a GingerBread Rom Which I was ....(GingerVillain).
I'm stuck in HBOOT now (0.80.0000)
Recovery Mode doesn't work either (red exclamation mark)
Tried several RUUs always got Error 131 wrong user-id
Unbranded my Desire with a Goldcard a year or 1.5 years ago. ( Was on Vodafone Germany before)
Anyone got an Idea how to solve this problem?
Cheers
Tried flashing a new recovery image using android-sdk and fastboot.
But then I get this error :
D:\android\tools>fastboot flash recovery b.img
sending 'recovery' (3398 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
probably because my desire is S-ON
?
problem solved !!!!
found my old gold card, and guess what RUU update worked with goldcard inserted
I'm (or I was) about to root my desire Z. Using strawmetal pdf as instructions first two steps went smooth. Everything as written with no errors.
Problems start with downgrading to stock froyo. Frist I've tried manual downgrade, but the phone did nothing after finding PC10IMG.zip (well it checked it and werify, but then just went back to bootloader with no message). So I reboot the phone and it loaded normaly to my system.
Then I tried second method Fastboot downgrade, but when I enter into a black screen with white/silver htc logo and type:
Code:
fastboot flash zip StockRom.zip
it gives me:
Code:
c:\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip StockRom.zip
sending 'zip' <288060 KB>... OKAY
writing 'zip' ... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED <remote: 12 signature verify fail>
I've tried rerun the fastboot flash zip StockRom.zip command multiple times, everytime the same output.
What I should do now?
update: I've found in #G2ROOT irc logs someone had similar problem to mine but with his G2, Nipqer aptly suggested pulling the sd card out of the phone, it's not working in my case
update2: I checked md5 sum of the stock rom linked in strawmetal.pdf and it was different from the one in [GUIDE] Downgrade G2 (2.3.X) & DZ (2.3.X) & mT4g (2.3.4) & DHD w/ S-ON to Stock Froyo
strawmetal's pdf: 621f7c807cde340f1353fc43f34a4ea4 dz_pc10img.zip 288 061 KB
guide stock rom: 2ff42897cd27e0db425a2cf36c8bd078 vision_dz_1.34.405.5_pc10img.zip 291 448 KB
After flashing the rom from xda forum guide I'm on stock froyo and advancing to obtain pernament root :victory:
update3: I'm rooted! It took me 2 hours but thankfully to xda community and all the helpfull articles I've done it!
Hey guys
As any newbie on this forum I would like to apologise for posting a new thread but I've been searching and applying, i would say, the available options to address my problem but I've had no luck up to this point...
So I decided to risk looking like a complete moron and post my problem here.
My HTC M8 is like this:
https:// imgur.com/FDmizHh[/ url
The most I could get to was this:
C:\Users\TiagoGomes\Desktop\RUU>htc_fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
sending 'zip'... (82794 KB) OKAY
sending time = 5.954 secs
writing 'zip'... (bootloader) signature checking...
FAIL12 signature verify fail
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
Execution time is 13(s)
Guys... believe me please, I've been googling this problem for 4 days and I've been in RUU, .exe files, drinking teas, giving myself to alcohol and still... this MF isn't helping!
So, before I just smash the phone, I thought I try some elevated suggestions...
Can you help?
