Is there any way to reduce the brightness settings like in blazer to save battery life?
Oops meant to post in the aokp thread. Wtf
Check the market for app named Screen Filter, its good.
Rootdim is an app to lower.

I'm wondering if its possible to make the backlight lower then what is the lowest setting on the stock htc rom? If so, roms/apps that let me lower it?
Thanks,
Cryous

Download adjbrightness from the market.

Major overkill for just adjusting brighness, but Tasker can set these very low brightness levels as well - If you have other uses for Tasker automation, it's a very powerful app. On the Brightness front, it can be used to create brightness preset widgets, or widgets which popup a brightness selection menu, and of course to automate setting brightness based on any number of circumstances...
Tasker is paid thats overkill for just a simple task IMO.

Well read my below post
Actually, I waslooking for an app that allows me to turn off the backlight completely, or make it nearly so....adjustable brightness doesn't go any lower then the native widget

Just experimented with Tasker which allows you to set the brightness to a value from 0 to 255, setting a value of 1 didn't look too much dimmer than the dimmest that the system slider would set (on CM7, not stock) and setting 0 seemed to be the same as turning the screen off (CM7's screen off animation was displayed as the screen went blank.).
Hmmmmmm, well that's great....hopefully I can make an app that will do what I want

I'd love that app if you make it.

Its not liking me, I'm having a hard time keeping the screen from going off with the backlight
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Can you just set it so low that its basically off but not 100%?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Its not much better then the stock lowest. So I'm not sure about just the backlight being off being possible

I keep noticing that my brightness is always set higher than where it is supposed to be.
I will lower it to about 1/4 brightness and by the end of the day I notice its at 3/4 brightness all on its own... auto brightness is off and power saving is off
What gives? Anyone else notice this?

Yep. I have he same issue. It has a problem staying where I set it. Especially when I set it to 0% do you use an app to set your level or do you go into settings to do it? I usually use quick settings.
DARKSIDE
I go into display settings...I don't use an app to set it

I think I figured it out...at the bottom of the display settings is a box that says auto adjust lcd power or something.. I had it checked I just unchecked it...will report back if it fixes the problem...I'm thinking it will

Only had this issue on the Kang of cm7

This is probably why.
Yeah. I typically have mine set at the lowest yet somehow it will change itself on its own.

Do the touch key lights just stay off when the phone is low on battery because right now mine are off and I have it on always on but my battery is very low.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If you do not use any batterh saver app, the system just acts as you set up it on settings > display > touch key light duration
You can change the time from there.

But if your touch light is always off on low battery then you may need to check wether any application is intercepting your default settings.

you did not answer my question...
it happened when my phone went into critical mode maybe it was just an bug because after it died and I turned it back on they were on.
My second post. Which rom are you using? If you do not use any tweaked version nor any battery saver app, system won't turn off the light.

i'm on stock.
thanks but you were wrong it does.

Mine shut off once the battery gets critically low, also screen dims even though I have auto brightness off.
It makes sense why it does that though.
Is there an app that will turn off the keyboard lights? i know about Display > Touch Key duration. Thanks
Doubt it. Why would you want to turn off the keyboard lights?

Waste of battery in daylight
Another really great reason to turn them off is so you can watch Netflix at night. Screenfilter works, as do Keyboard backlight controller and AdjBrightness.
You can change it's duration to the lowest settings which is 1.5 seconds in the settings.I did that and trust me it's hardly on. It's in settings - display - touch key light duration.

At some point I was running a battery saver that did this when I dropped below a certain percentage of battery life. It might have been Easy Battery Saver. Then again, it also could have been the built in Power Saver function. Has that been tried?
Did the last two posters even read the thread? Not only did OP say he knows how to reduce the time, I just gave the names of 3 apps that can do it and people are still posting suggestions to reduce the on time.
Yeesh. No need for the hostility. My suggestion was not for reducing the light timeout, but shutting the keyboard light off completely, as was requested. I did see that you posted some apps and I was merely suggesting another app.

Take it easy....I was simply stating that at 1.5 seconds it is hardly on and does not waste much battery.

So that you can save battery and BTW our mind is good enough to remember where the touch captive keys are...
You can use Screen Filter app to do this (just set filter to 100% and unset Enable buttons backlight checkbox)
I watch TV on my note 2 at night moat nights with pretty much no lighting anywhere near me and the screen just seems to bright sometimes. Is there a way to decrease the values? Does something like this already exist or can someone create something like this? I have seen mods that allow the increase of brightness but none to decrease it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Take a look at Lux Auto Brightness in Market... it has capability to use sub zero brightness for low light viewing
There are also screen filter apps that apply a transparent shade over the screen. I use lux, its great, but can be a pain to set up if you use auto brightness at all.

Screen filter is amazing. 23.5% works fine for me

There is an app called "Night Mode" it's simple to use and has worked better for me than the other screen filter apps like lux and others.
