Yeah, that was happening to me too. Clear the Data from Settings->App-Google Chrome Beta
On your PC go to your Google Dashboard and
In the Chrome Sync section, Stop Sync and Delete Data from Google
Following the instructions at
http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1181035&topic=1693469&ctx=topic
to disable encryption and then re-enable encryption using either your Google password or a new paraphrase.
I'm pretty sure that those were the steps I took to get rid of the FC but I can't remember totally as I was really sleepy. Either way, I'm not getting that issue any more.
I tried this a few times without success. I was able to access settings immediately after signing in with the link at the bottom of the screen, but couldn't get to the settings through the menu

Same here...I just use either Maxthon Browser or Dolphin HD browser....they are both good...hopefully the Chrome will be ready soon.
I never got it to work. I even tried deleting my app data and going to settings without logging in and it locks up.

Anyone know how to shut this off? I have about 40 apps that are repeatedly trying to reinstall themselves daily. I obviously don't want them to andnindont prompt them to. So annoying. Can I shut this off somehow?

Try going into Settings > Backup & Reset and untick automatic restore.
I have the same issue but unchecking that setting didn't work. Still installing the apps over and over again.

Are you using another app store, like app brain or the Amazon app store?

Nope. Only the android market. I tried clearing the cache and turning off the auto update. The only thing I haven't tried (yet) is a factory reset. I haven't figured out what is triggering it yet either.
Have u tried clearing data from Market and Google Framework Services?
or settings inside app market?...

If you are talking about apps automatically updating, then go to the Market/Menu/Settings and uncheck Auto-Update. And while there, if you don't want to be notified when an app has an update, uncheck the notification check box too.
But be aware that apps are usually only updated to correct issues or to add/improve features.
Good luck.

No, but if I do what other data will be deleted? Google accounts?
You won't lose anything, just delete the data and reboot (you're deleting locally, not from the servers). Account will reset it's self. You may still get the auto download, but once you uninstall they should stay uninstalled...
Hit the settings button in the pull down. Select Apps, use the All tab and the clear data button will be under the apps I mentioned...

Anyone else having gapps crash repeatedly? Seems like after a few min of usage the phone will freeze and a pop up will show saying gapps has stopped unexpectedly. I'm rooted running stock. On the same note both the xda and tapatalk app will go to a black screen and crash.

Samsung derp...go to settings/accounts/google/and uncheck internet. Idk y it does it but something is borked with that and syncing internet. Only thing is if u run stock browser i think your bookmarks wont sync...but it will stop gapps from crashing

No problem man
Same thing happened to me and I am stock. I cleared internet cache and its all better
Yeah, this happened to me also. Turning off "Internet" sync did in fact solve the problem, but no bookmark sync with the stock browser. However, I solved this by turning off "Internet" sync and rebooting. Then, I cleared the "Internet" app's (stock web browser) cache and data, and turned "Internet" sync back on after a reboot. Works perfect now, no crash, and bookmarks sync fine. Not sure if all the reboots are needed, but that is what worked for me.
Damn, I was wondering what the hell was going on with Gapps crashing sometimes. It didn't happen much, maybe 2-3 times a week but it was annoying. Just unchecked Internet Sync so hopefully it works.
Thanks.
So this happened after the app update...wtf is this?
I have this same problem. I've noticed that it happens after I've used the Amazon music app. The only fix I've found was to force stop the Amazon music app and it clears these blank messages. I'm now on Android 8.0.0 and had this issue as well with the latest Android version 7, I was on. I have the Pixel 128gb on Verizon.
Its a problem with android messages
Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with the Amazon music app running in the background anymore. Previously, when I saw the prompt that Amazon music was running in the background, if I started the messenger app, I got those blank threads and as soon as I force stopped Amazon music, the blank threads disappeared. Now, they stay and just go away on its own. Even with the recent update to messenger 2.5.211, it still does it.
It's definitely an issue with messenger.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I'm having the same issue.
I have this problem also after restoring the sms with the sms backup and restore. Basically the messages are there but I can't see them, only those ghost threads/messages and I cannot scroll down on the message list to see more of them.
same problem. here is what i did.
I downloaded hangouts and manually set it as default app for sms.
Then i opened up hangouts and went through all the threads that messenger wouldnt show.
Then i went back and forced stopped messenger, cleared data, and set it back as default.

Unfortunately the hangouts is not supporting sms anymore and is though unable to be set as a default sms app.

i have no idea why i had typed hangouts, must have been late. i meant to say verizon messages.
I got it working. Just disable the messages app and choose yes when it asks if you want to go back to factory app. Then clear cache and data and enable the app again. Then you can view all the messages. After this updating the app through play store is also safe and the messages remain visible.

Great!
Anyone know why this keeps happening when I try to open an article from my Google now feed?
Happens to me too. Sometimes it works by closing it and trying again but most times nothing.
I am getting the same issue as well!

Google didn't have the Storage enabled, and Chrome didn't have the Microphone or Contacts enabled. I switched on the storage permission, and I think it fixed it.
Well I thought it was fixed but still encountering the issue. When I click on a link in Google Now it flashes an error page then goes blank.
This is the error page I get.

Yes did that but it still happens.
Did you by any chance delete Chrome from System\app then install from the Play Store? I was having a similar issue with multiple apps and it seemed to be a problem with the Play Store version of Web View. With Chrome back in System\app it isn't happening anymore.

No have not deleted anything from system. Haven't even rooted phone.
Hey guys. After playing around a bit I wondered why Skype and account settings suddenly stopped working. After a while playing around I figured what was happening.
Since I'm not a fan of Chrome, I decided to remove it, like I always do. Don't want unnecessary stuff on my device.
After reinstalling, it was possible again to add a new account, also to start Skype. Seem it is bound to Chrome web view somehow. The alternative internal Android web view don't seem to work with these settings.
Does anyone have an idea how to safely remove Chrome but keep functionality?
Disabled the chrome app on my phone with no issues.
I'm also not seeing this issue.

Just disable chrome
I did. This also results in not being able to add a new Google account, or simply start Skype.
Only if Chrome is installed AND active it will work. Can you guys try again and report back?

Just ran Skype and added a Google account. No problem, no Chrome. I'm wondering if another app you installed is getting involved.

I uninstall chrome, no issue at all bro. All working fine.

Just have a look. And no: if I do a clean install and have nothing else installed other than Skype, it acts the same way. This is where I figured out why this was happening.
Edit: even if I don't install Skype any anything else: if I just deactivate chrome I can't add any Google accounts.
