Hi there,
Since ARHD 7 I have ugly, metallic sound when I listen to music, even if I connect the phone to an AV receiver. Never had this before. Has it something to do with the beatsAudio? Any help would be grateful.
Thanks in Advance,
kinggizmo
Try switching ROMS. Or try switching the equalizer. Switch it from Beats to R'n'B. When I listen to music with Beats Audio the sound is shallow, so the best way that works for me is rnb.
did you try another music player ?
is this in your speaker our headphones ? ....
Your Solution!!!

Hey guys, I don't know whether ur scared of the topic but no one has found ways to better the sound quality of the phone . Everyone is able to port stuff and create roms but never anything about sound improvement like porting dolby from other android mobile.

Nothing wrong with my Desire, I can make calls just fine thank you!!
I reckon people with issues with the volume are the ones that will suffer from deafness early in life as they probably crank up the volume on all devices
i didnt mean voice calls, i meant when playing music through the ear phones. before u say get better headphones, i got senheissers cx400s. the sound quality is rubbish at best. my n95 and n73 both played music better than the htc phone with the same headphones.
I got to agree on the sound quality issue. The music is just too flat on desire.
I am reconsidering galaxy s and iphone4 due to this...
Hopefully someone can port a better music player or fix the issue soon...

Surely its a hardware limitation.
Aside from putting a better dac in the device (probably impossible) what can be done about sound quality? I don't get how a better music player could help.
You can try with DSP Manager... included in some modded rom... like mine...
music is fine on mine (dsp manager + Sennheiser CX 400 II's)
it was rubbish compared to my ipod shuffle using the same headphones, before using dsp manager
I use mixzing player with equalizer with a custom preset for better quality.
What's dsp manager? How to use it?
yeah what is the dsp manager ive been hearing about

DSP manager is an equalizer built into the ROM. It can have seperate settings for phone speaker, bluetooth and headphones. I used to to take some of the tinniness out of phone speaker. It's in CM6, and probably a lot of other roms too.

Does anybody know if this could be flashed onto "OpenDesire 4.0.2"?
As I know OD is based on Cyanogen...
Thank you

Don't know if this can be flashed to OD, but OD is not based on Cyanogen, it is a build from Android source.
DSP manager is brilliant. The compressor pops a bit too much for my liking though.

It's not working for me...
hey guys just wanted to ask if the equalizer is better than the ones found on music apps on market place like mixzing, astro player, etc
Just to let you know...I've flashed it onto OpenDesire 4.04 and it works...
You need the DSP Manager apk, too.
I took the one from this Post: http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7999377&postcount=6
Thanks =)
Thru loud speaker, Desire wasn't really that good. But thru headsets with Mixzing, is quite good.
completely agree. speakers on the phone are horrible. i think im gonna invest in a new pair of earphones. hope i dont get any compatibility issues which bug other users
I'm using poweramp with beats plugin enabled and i'm noticing strange and massive battery drains..i know that the battery is only 1250mAh but i mean, 90-50% in just 1 song which is 4 minutes long...is it that bad? I'm running android revolution 6.1.5
You can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226016 it worked for me. i have extended 7-8 hours of usage. normal usage. Or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305228 Credits to the great devs !
Dunno if Beats is the culprit... I use Beats all day with stock music player and I get pretty solid battery life.
Try the suggestions in the posts skystealth linked for starters

It's not the beats but i've got SRS effect when using powerAMP i don't know but it's different than the one before and the sound is more like a virtual sound so i thought maybe beats were working because my settings were at SRS surround and other people in many threads have said that if you have beats plugin enabled it changes the sound effect on different music players.
I've tried disabling the beats plugin in the stock music player but it has no effect whatsoever.
Does anyone have an eq manager working with spotify in jelly bean? I've tried to get DSP and volume+ to work but haven't been able too.

up!
search for awsome beats dsp it works just fine
spotify doesnt use the correct music API to work with awesome beats dsp and dsp manager
AMEN.
I've been trying to contact Spotify about this and they only seem intersted in giving me the runaround about development sometimes doesn't always give you what you want immediately or something... I really hope they remedy this, as I REALLY miss useing DSP Manager to make my Ultimate Ears sound phenomenal on my Galaxy Nexus.
Not even Volume+ works right, which used to be the only one that worked reliably with ICS.
And no, Beats Audio doesn't work with Spotify and Jelly Bean. If you really got it working, I'd love to know how.
I swear on my unborn children life that I'm not a troll.
BUT
Somehow I could use dspmanager with my spotify yesterday. I was then on XenonHD/Trinity and had the mod from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748803&highlight=awesome+beats installed.
However the same night I did a reset and installed Rasbeanjelly instead, and now I can't get spotify to work with dspmanager anymore...
The new version of spotify has a equalizer built in, but I got waaaay better sound when I could use dspmanager.
Could it have to do with me listening to spotify offline?
Did a nandroid backup before i installed RBJ. Might restore that one just to be able to figure out why it worked!

Dsp works a treat for me. I once contacted support about audio beats not working and the guy on his reply insinuated that Spotify will be releasing their very own eq

Hello,
I have question about this great room. I am using version 8.6.1 but i have a little problem.
When i plug in my headphones to phone, he doesnt show me the headphones icon on notification bar and if i want set the music effects in DSPManager application, settings are without changes.
For example,
If i set new equalizer options to rock, techno, atc ...., music what i listen is without this changes, if i set better bass, music is again without changes.
I hope u understand me.
Thanks for your answer and sorry for my english :fingers-crossed:

The official thread for Q&A for the Ice Cold Sandwich ROM by LC is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369687
Also, the DSP equalizer I use 'DSPManager' works on IceColdS 8.4.
I would assume your phone isn't recognising the headset - sure you plugged it in properly?
And the DSPManager is using the settings under the 'Speaker' tab, so you'd have to change that.

Hello everybody!
I`m having a strange sound issue on Spongle - when I`m playing music through headphones, I don`t hear some instruments.
For examle, this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT68FS3YbQ4 song has a guitar part at the beginning and throughout the song, and when I`m playing it on Shpongle, I simply can`t hear it, absolutely.
The thing is, that on stock or MyONE I can hear the guitar part completely.
The problem exists on stock Music and PowerAMP.
