Bricked Galaxies - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

It seems that there're many cases of soft-bricked galaxies (GT-i8150) including mine which are able to enter only download mode and nothing else. Does anybody know how, why, when this happens? Many people recommend re-flashing back to stock, however this does not help at all.

Already rooted ?

I flashed many Stock Rom but didn't face this problem. What I do :
1. Factory reset from Recovery before flashing.
2. Flash with Odin.
Sometimes due to not formatting of partitions bootloop problem can occur, for this to solve Flash any Asian Rom, I have noticed thsi it did factory reset after the Odin flashing ..
Or you can manually factory reset after the Odin flash to see does it help.
Thanks

[Q] Help I think I bricked my phone!

My phone was constantly rebooting so i went into CWM and did a factory reset and it froze while wiping and since then it wouldnt reboot. I went to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551901&page=11 and followed the directions for the one click recovery using odin 1.81 but it stopped updating on the data.img. I kept it connected for over an hour. I disconnected the cable and rebooted the phone. now when i turn it on it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again" i tried holding power and volume down and it briefly boots up but then goes to the firmware upgrade screen. Kies isnt recognizing the phone as being connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
you are not the first one today (yesterday) reporting the same problem. There were about 3~4 incidents reported during today. So, don't go further at this time. I hope some more Devs joining to give more helps.
During the time you are waiting, read the almost same case -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554392
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549382
Also, please describe the full details about what you did and how you did -
where did not download the rom, what's your rom/kernel version before installing the rom, how did you proceed to odin the rom, etc...
You mentioned that you tried to flash the rom using the one click recovery using odin 1.81. Can you please be more details about this?
Before flashing the rom, you said that your phone was constantly rebooting. What was your rom and kernel at that time? Do you think there was anything suspicious causing the rebooting?
Maybe the solution would be simple but I saw many people reported same thing, there would be common issue in here. So, we need to find out what that is....
Sorry for not giving you the suggestion at this time.
This isn't an ODIN issue. ODIN is just the messenger in this case.
There is a problem between the ICS kernels and custom recovery where it will sometimes corrupt your /data partition if you reset/wipe/restore/format/etc. Any large partition operations are suspect. Copying files seems fine. It doesn't necessarily do it every time so it'll work for some but brick others. Even if it works a couple of times, it can brick at any time.
The EMMC memory actually becomes damaged and even JTAG repair will not fix. By the time you get to ODIN the damage is already done. ODIN won't be able to write to /data even using a .pit file with repartition set, ODIN one-click won't write to it, CWM will hang writing to it, JTAG will have issues also.
Your best bet is to get a replacement.
There are multiple threads about this, which is why people suggest you go back to a GB-based kernel+CWM to do your ROM flashing.
This is one thread where the data.img corruption is discussed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504808
Well i tried QBKings how to unbrick video and used the stock el29 stock rom through odin. It looks like it was going to work. it finished all the way but now it just gets stuck in a boot screen loop

Maybe try using odin to flash a kernel with recovery, and get into recovery before it reboots(or pull battery since it won't boot after odin is done doing its thing). then restore a nandroid, or flash a Rom?

I think we are in synch - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1556609 (the suggestion that I provided).
Adding to this, I personally recommend to format the sdcard before installing anythig - there's a option to format sdcard.

[Q] Soft bricked, need help getting back.

Got me a new phone, updated to 4.1.2 factory style.
Then I used the exploit to root. No problems for a while. Then this morning I downloaded Rom Toolbox. and i edited build.prop... i changed the lcd density to 240. problem is there were 2 lcd density inputs. so i changed both of them.
This caused my phone to not reboot.
Ok i got this, ive done it a hundred times...
well somethings a miss...
I go to recovery, and i factory reset.
now the phone boots, into "att ready2go" but the only button that works is my lock button. the rest either make a water drop noise. or do nothing. the screen doesnt react to my finger or the pen.
So i go into download mode and do the odin to flash CWM and it seems to work. except now i am still on e3 recovery, and i add to my modified count.
Does anyone know how to flash back to stock or anything? I am pulling my hair out LOL.
Have you tried wiping data/factory reset in recovery? You can do that in stock recovery also. If noting else youll have to go to samsung firmware website for a stock firmware tar to flash in odin

Help, stuck in a boot-loop

I rooted my Note II with SU. I have not flashed any roms, still running stock. The problem is this: I downloaded Triangle Away and reseted counter. Then I uninstalled it, and did a full unroot with SU. Status still said "modified" so I then did a hard reset of the phone. Now, it's stuck in a boot-loop wth the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" logo.
I have no idea what to do, and I guess I had no idea what I was doing. Please help me out!

I had the same unfortunate situation with you pal. I tried ti root my note 2 before and same things you did then bootloop occured. What I did was I downloaded my firmware and flashed via odin in pc. I cannot go to recovery before that.. now everything is fine. I will never try to root again unless I really needed it. Hoped I helped you

Cant factory reset, change ROM, or ODIN takes no effect

Hi there, i am currently on the CM10.1.2 build. Phone works, but started getting weird problems on the ROM lately so i decided to try to clean flash the rom again through clockword recovery v5. After doing the usual factory reset, wipe cache, re flashing, etc. After restarting the phone, nothing i did seemed to take effect. So I tried the same thing with a a differnt ROM, noticed that doing the factory reset only lasted like 3 seconds, when usually it takes about 10-20 seconds. So at this point, i tried to ODIN back to stock 4.1. Phone passed through but took zero effect.. I have no idea what to do at this point,
other weird symptoms that my phone had were; automatically turning on when USB plugged in.
Has anyone experienced this, could it be my clockword recovery is corrupted, but even so, ODIN should be able to work..

Upgrade to CWM6 with Odin and this file:
http://d-h.st/4Pk
Or better yet, use TWRP 2.5.0.0 tar from here:
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules
If you can't install CM after that then I don't know.
just tried updating the clockwork to v6 through odin. it said it passed, but took no effect on my phone for some reason.. still on clockworkmod v5..
Im using odin v 1.85, ill try to re download it and see if it works. ive never had a problem with odin before this.

First try using PDA to flash in Odin. PDA is the only thing I use in Odin for the Hercules.
ill try that now,
also, after a RR(random reboot) earlier today, a message popped up sayig; system error; you need to re partition or partition your phone, and some other error. There is a re-partition option in Odin, but i have no idea what it does and dont want to accidently brick my phone.
Any thoughts on that

Never had that error, but I have read that checking re-partition can brick(hard brick?) your phone. So I would not mess with that option until you do some research about it first.
so i tried flashing the CWM6 through PDA, no luck, then tried flashing it through CWM5, no good either.
and i might have to look into the re partition thing, it might be a potential solution. if anyone else has any knowledge or similar problems, please help me out, running out of ideas
edit: is there a way to go back to stock via kies, or is that only for non-rooted phones

Never check that option, it will seriously damage ur phone if it even boots after, ur best bet is to go with twrp, it a better recovery and has all the newest flashing scripts, try using Odin and PDA to flash the tar file from the link above, I've never seen a phone tell me to repartition it before that's strange bit I wouldn't suggest it, twrp by far has never failed me yet as cwm is rarely updated so sometimes u get errors with new roms

So even when u used odin and twrp it still didnt change anything? Thats very strange, its like ur system is read only, have u tried fixing permissions, idk dont think itll make much difference but if ur device isnt responding to odin im just taking a stab in the dark, odin says passed but it doeant take effect?

Odin doesn't change a thing, even after the green light PASS. Maybe I should try downloading a newer version of ODIN(im on v1.85). But ive
Used this version in the past a couple times with no problems.

I've always used 1.85 ,don't think I've even used another version as its always worked for me, have u tried loading the tar file into PDA slot, not boot loader, I never touch boot loader, click PDA and try to odin the file from there, and move to twrp, its better, if that doesn't work I'm lost, but I'll help as much as I can, how about flashing a ROM, does that work or does that not take too? This is interesting, it sucks for u I know but I've never had an issue like this before...

Flashing help/soft brick

Had a s3 a year ago. No probs rooting and flashing. Sold it. Got another one yesterday. Rooted and put on TWRP which I never used before. Wiped and flashed Eclipse and gor a soft brick with continuous Samsung logo.
Used the back to stock rom zip avaible on xda. Kept twrp and root. Phone works as it should. Wiped and flashed again and got same soft brick.
Questions is....am I doing something wrong? Can some explain in detail how to wipe and what to wipe with twrp for someone new to it? And any thoughts why I would get the soft brick? Thanks in advance...
Have u checked over in the general forum for the modded recoveries? Seems that sprint or Samsung had locked the new s3s up. Not a ure if what you have explained are the symptoms or not, but @kennyglass123 and @CNexus worked on some issues with new bootloaders. Check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391616

Check to see if it was a bad download.
Ok. Ill give it a go with a different rom and see if that helps. Again I'm new to twrp. Which wipe should I be doing. I don't care about losing music or photos. Just want a clean slate.
