I need help please, ive looked around on the forum for an answer to my problem but to no avail..
The story goes...
Had my lovely note 2 for a while, decided to root used (exynos abuse). (i only needed root for root explorer as i wanted to change the boot animation) i never got around to doing this.
Next thing i was on the playstore and i seen a DPI modifier, i downloaded that and set the DPI to 240 granted su permissions and the phone rebooted..
Now im stuck in the samsung logo boot loop..
Could someone please help my get my note 2 back.. im not bothered about the data on there as all this is backed up.
I have already downloaded odin, but not sure what to go from here as i am still a n00b
I hope you guys don't mind me creating a thread, i have used the search bar intensively before starting this
I look forward to your replies

Flash the stock firmware again via Odin that will reset everything....
For odin download the. Tar file and the odin software. Hit pda and select your. Tar file and then flash it. Be sure to be in the download mode by pressing volume down + power+home button

You could just stick a Build.prop in a Cwm zip and flash that, but u would need Cwm recovery installed to use that. If you don't have Cwm installed, then go to this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000138
Download the file ending in .tar
Boot your phone in your download mode, open odin on your pc, and in the pda tab, select the path to the Cwm zip.
That would save u from having to flash a stock rom, and u would still keep all your user data.
If u need help making a Cwm zip, i can send u one with a Build.prop later today.
Cheers

Hey Corey thanks for the reply, ive pulled the build.prop via adb and edited it, then pushed it back to the phone. It hasn't changed anything its still stuck on the boot loop, that makes me wonder is anything else has changed in the build.prop..
What would be the best program to edit the build.prop on my computer?
Kind Regards

Hi,
If you changed the build.prop back to 320, then the build.prop might not be the only problem. I guess the DPI editor you used must have changed some other things in the rom.
I will attach my build.prop here , so try pushing that to your phone, and see if it boots, if it doesn't boot, then the DPI must have changed some other things somewhere on yhe phone, and you will have to flash a stock rom.
Here is my build.prop
http://db.tt/4idemf7B
Try flashing that, if it doesn't work, then you will have to just flash a stock rom with Odin.
Cheers

Hey man thanks again for your help, i pushed the build.prop you provided and still nothing.. im downloading the stock fw now on my works connection so its taking forever (12mins left) so i will flash the stock fw to it.
I understand that i stick the phone in download mode.. open Odin, plug phone in. chuck the .tar into the PDA box and hit start?
What do i do if after flashing the stock fw its still stuck on a boot loop???
I do have the phone insured so i can swap it at the store, but due to the holidays that wont be until the end of next week and i need my phone for work... plus im enjoying the learning curve of sorting the phone myself
Thanks again corey
It is unlikely you will get bootloop after flashing stock firmware.
Even you get it just you have to wipe it from recovery (Vol up+home+power) and wipe cache
If that won't help then you have to wipe data(factory reset) from recovery too.
But here with wiping data you will loss your data.
PS : You can flash any stock ROM.

Hi,
Before flashing the stock rom, boot the phone up in to recovery (hold home + power + volume up) and wipe data, Cache, ect.
And make sure u don't tick any box's ect in odin, as some of them can potentially brick your phone, so just leave all the check box's as they are.
Seeing u just changed the DPI, flashing a stock rom will fix it. The only way to hard brick a phone, so that flashing a stock rom doesn't fix it, us by stuffing up the /boot partition. Which is not too easy to do. And changing the DPI wouldn't do that.
Just make sure the stock rom u install is the right one for your phone (make sure the model number matches your phone). As a n7105 rom won't work too well on a N7100 ect.
And leave the phone for up to 10 min to boot up after flashing the rom. So don't try restarting ect till you have left it to boot for 10 min.
Cheers

Hey guys,
I've been flashing ROMS for years and this is my first real issue.
I tried to upgrade from an earlier version of CM10 to the newest one. After I flashed GAPPS this caused the phone to get stuck on reboot so I went back to CWM recovery.
ALL MY DOWNLOADED FILES WERE GONE IN CWM. Including all the roms I had, and my NANDROID backup (which I would have just reflashed right there).
I tried to Odin back to stock and it passes but gets stuck on the Samsung boot logo every time.
I've tried to scour threads on XDA and on Google. The closest thing I found was a thread where it mentioned I'd need Tmobile Bootchain commands but I can't find those either.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to Odin using a different computer.. or redownload Odin and the files needed
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Odin the stock firmware you mean from a different comp? I don't think that is the issue since Odin shows that the flash was successful. The phone reboots itself and it gets passed the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen to the Tmobile Android 4g boot animation.
Additionally, people in the Verizon S3 forum are describing my issue exactly here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030)

I can't get into stock recovery man, or any kind of recovery.Holding vol up + home + power hangs permanently after the SGS 3 boot screen, nothing happens.
Go to Doc's stickie and I think it is in the 2nd post, there is an Odin flashable version of TWRP (maybe a copy of CWR but since I don't use it I'm not sure).
Flash that and let it "try" and reboot. It won't but you can do the key combo to get into TWRP recovery and either flash a ROM, Restore or at the very least Factory Reset, which would be my first choice.
Somewhere back there in your efforts, I think you may have erased your internal and if that is where your backups were kept then that might be why they are gone. Just a thought though.
In odin, uncheck auto reboot. Flash the recovery tar in pda spot. When it says pass, pull the battery and boot into recovery with volume up, home, and power. Release the power button when u feel the vibrate. Then thank mrmako777 for teaching me this tonight

This is exactly what was suggested to you before, since you said in your OP you had already odin back to stock. What I don't get is how come you were not able to boot into original recovery when it was just going on a boot loop. It doesn't matter. At least you fixed it. Enjoy

I wanted to try an AKOP ROM or two on my completely stock, never rooted Note 2 running the OTA UCALK7 update. I followed the guide here (flash the SU injected stock UCALJ2 image) to root and now my note gets stuck at the Samsung logo. I have tried the following:
Downloaded the completely stock UCALJ2 unrooted image and flashed via ODIN.
Tried flashing both stock and rooted ROMs on another computer using the stock USB cable.
Flashed CWM touch via ODIN after flashing rooted UCALJ2 image, it can boot to CWM but fails miserably most likely to the lack of root.
My guess is it's bricked because sammy closed the root hole in the UCALK7 update and flashing back to rooted UCALJ2 isn't enough to bypass the patched exploit. Is there an ODIN flashable complete UCALK7 image that I can try (I've looked to no end, all I can find are rooted zips flashable via CWM) or am I really up the creek?
Pull the battery.
Hold the Center Home Button + Vol Down + Power
Slide the battery in.
If you do this right you can get into odin before the Samsung logo. I just had the same problem because I flashed the wrong recovery. It worked for me.

Thanks - I actually figured that part out since my second post. The phone boots after the factory reset however I don't get phone/data service. I've since tried flashing the two AT&T modems I could find, atti317ucalj2modemfixed.zip and ATT K7 Modem - Baseband.zip. Neither resolve the issue.

Thanks but I can't even enter the network configuration settings - it tells me to insert a SIM. My SIM is in the phone.
I'm having other problems too which I think are partition related. Apps are acting funny, saying there isn't space on the phone (dropbox can't download anything, etc). I'm trying to get TriangleAway installed so I can just RMA it but I can't even download it to my phone. Also a CWM fix permissions fails even though I grant it root access.

I know what you're saying, I'm definitely using the right file and process. I'm a pretty seasoned veteran when it comes to rooting/odin/RSD/fastboot, etc. I've run custom ROMs on dozens of phones since the G1. What's happening to me is apparently not a common failure with the note 2 or GS3. Is there a PIT file available for the AT&T Note 2? I see one for the Verizon Note 2 but I wouldn't dare try to flash that.
There is a pit file around but I really don't think it's that.
And also just checking don't mean to insult ur intelligence but if u are using Odin it will be a .tar, if it's a recovery its I .zip

Yeah, it's a tar file I'm flashing through Odin, got it from SamsungUpdates: Samsung-Updates.com-SGH-I317_ATT_1_20121005095854_bpaaavv07o.
I also tried flashing the stock ROM in deodex'd zip form after I got a custom recovery on there, still no dice. The non-functioning modem and lack of proper root/storage affects both Sammy and CM/AKOP based ROMs. I don't know about the modem part but I've seen weird things like this when the NAND starts going bad and things written to it don't "stick." I don't think that's the case here since it's only on its 4th or 5th flash. More than likely the latter problem is a file system issue. I have no idea about the radio.
I'm going to try and exchange it tomorrow. At least I got the flash count cleared and I'm back on a stock ROM (with the same problems).
Hi there, i am currently on the CM10.1.2 build. Phone works, but started getting weird problems on the ROM lately so i decided to try to clean flash the rom again through clockword recovery v5. After doing the usual factory reset, wipe cache, re flashing, etc. After restarting the phone, nothing i did seemed to take effect. So I tried the same thing with a a differnt ROM, noticed that doing the factory reset only lasted like 3 seconds, when usually it takes about 10-20 seconds. So at this point, i tried to ODIN back to stock 4.1. Phone passed through but took zero effect.. I have no idea what to do at this point,
other weird symptoms that my phone had were; automatically turning on when USB plugged in.
Has anyone experienced this, could it be my clockword recovery is corrupted, but even so, ODIN should be able to work..

First try using PDA to flash in Odin. PDA is the only thing I use in Odin for the Hercules.
ill try that now,
also, after a RR(random reboot) earlier today, a message popped up sayig; system error; you need to re partition or partition your phone, and some other error. There is a re-partition option in Odin, but i have no idea what it does and dont want to accidently brick my phone.
Any thoughts on that

Never had that error, but I have read that checking re-partition can brick(hard brick?) your phone. So I would not mess with that option until you do some research about it first.
so i tried flashing the CWM6 through PDA, no luck, then tried flashing it through CWM5, no good either.
and i might have to look into the re partition thing, it might be a potential solution. if anyone else has any knowledge or similar problems, please help me out, running out of ideas
edit: is there a way to go back to stock via kies, or is that only for non-rooted phones

also, after a RR(random reboot) earlier today, a message popped up sayig; system error; you need to re partition or partition your phone, and some other error. There is a re-partition option in Odin, but i have no idea what it does and dont want to accidently brick my phone.
Any thoughts on that

Never check that option, it will seriously damage ur phone if it even boots after, ur best bet is to go with twrp, it a better recovery and has all the newest flashing scripts, try using Odin and PDA to flash the tar file from the link above, I've never seen a phone tell me to repartition it before that's strange bit I wouldn't suggest it, twrp by far has never failed me yet as cwm is rarely updated so sometimes u get errors with new roms

well, nothing seems to be working, i think ill just use the phone as it is until i find a fix, or until it dies on me. already fixed this phone once (power button), maybe its a sign for me to get a new phone

So even when u used odin and twrp it still didnt change anything? Thats very strange, its like ur system is read only, have u tried fixing permissions, idk dont think itll make much difference but if ur device isnt responding to odin im just taking a stab in the dark, odin says passed but it doeant take effect?

Odin doesn't change a thing, even after the green light PASS. Maybe I should try downloading a newer version of ODIN(im on v1.85). But ive
Used this version in the past a couple times with no problems.

I've always used 1.85 ,don't think I've even used another version as its always worked for me, have u tried loading the tar file into PDA slot, not boot loader, I never touch boot loader, click PDA and try to odin the file from there, and move to twrp, its better, if that doesn't work I'm lost, but I'll help as much as I can, how about flashing a ROM, does that work or does that not take too? This is interesting, it sucks for u I know but I've never had an issue like this before...

Can anyone enlighten me if it is safe to flash a kernal meant for i9100

Really?? I did hear they were supposed to find a fix for it but they never did.. does it matter that the phone is rooted? Because I have no way of uprooting at this point.
Def a hardware problem though so no reciept or anything should be nessesary I'd think?

Thanks dude, I'll definitely contact Samsung and see if I can get a new phone.
Hi Everyone,
So my phone finally is acting up, specifically the micro usb port no longer is functioning properly. It doesn't charge, when it charges its 1 percent per half hour, random s-mode activations etc. Im trying to return it back to stock but unfortunately the stock rogers rom file is not available on scroslers server. Also i did follow the tutorial ' how to clear flash count etc' did all the instructions, i am now unrooted, triangled away, and everything but under the status it still says modified. I think this is because i still have cleanrom and perseus installed, is there anyone that can help me with this.
Thank you
Edit: So i finally found out that bell/rogers are same files , gotta edit CSC or something else (gonna read up), so im going to reroot, reinstall twrp, and then install the stock rom, and then after repeat the process, I hope that solves it.
Main question: After doing the 'how to clearn flash count/unroot/ ' why does it still say im modified? Is it cuz of clearn rom still being on it?
Edit 2: OK so i found at least for now its the wire thats giving me the problem so i replaced that. THanks scy for the input, will keeep that in mind next time i have to do it, hopefuly i dont have too since its a pain in the...
Ok odin flash stock rom. Reroot, triangle away. Then factory reset.
