Hi everybody.
Yesterday a friend of mine tried to root my htc. He went through htc bootloader and didnt do it properly so i end up with unrooted phone. Thank god its still working, but im so angry since i know, that he messed up something. We try togheter with process of goldcard and that didnt went through too. So im wondering if anybody know, how to downgrade properly so i can root my phone.
I think before unrooting was on hboot 0.93.001,and know is on 1.0.003 . So please if anybody can help me with some suggestion or anything else i would be realy greatfull.

At the moment it is impossible to root your phone. It was a bad idea to unlock your bootloader with the software by HTC. Now you have to wait and hope that someone find a way to root + S-OFF with bootloader-version 1.03.0003.
Hi
Any news for my phone ?
Thanks
unlock it with the HTC utility, then place the attached file onto the root of your sd-card, and boot into the bootloader (not fastboot), when it asks to update click yes, you should then have a custom recovery that you can boot into.
Because you updated the bootloader, there is as of yet no way to get "true" S-OFF and flash one of alpharev's bootloaders, so tough luck.
So as i understand, with above method i can gain root access to load custom roms ?

With that method, you gain access to recovery, giving you the possibility to a) gain root access to your stock ROM (not necessary), backup your nand memory to SD-Card (do before flashing), wipe nand memory, flash root ROMs, and many more features.

As the topic says, whats the difference on hvaing s-off and s-on?
I had a rooted Wildfire and never had S-off on it.
Do i gain anything by S-off my desire?
If you don't know what it's for then you don't need it...but it basically gives you FULL root access to the /system partition
S-OFF makes it so you're not dependant on booting into recovery every single time you edit something in /system
Makes life easier.
Most phones until very recently when you have root it automatically has given you full root. On the desire (and probably all new htc android phones) they have added an extra layer of security that locks the nand while in use. This stops us being able to use things like Fastboot, and adb to edit /system files while booted.
Luckily we always had partial root and could do most things when in a custom recovery.
Now with S-Off or Security Off we can have full access like what a normal root on most phones enables.
So technically your wildfire does not have s-off because it was never s-on in the first place.

+1 alpharev are working on a modified bootloader for the buzz, i rooted and flashed my brothers wildfire yesterday, although rom development looked a bit thin on the ground to me lol as far as i know all htc's come with a security locked bootloader, even back in the days of win mo, we needed hard spl, which was just an unlocked bootloader

You have to decide which method to use to flash the downgrader. Eather you download the PB99IMG.zip file and put it to your SDCARD root and boot the phone into hboot or you flash the bravo_downgrade.img file using a PC (via fastboot utility).
If you decide to flash via fastboot then check that MD5 sum of the downloaded .img file matches that specified in the alpharev's site.
I think that's easier to put PB99IMG.zip on root and to do that only with phone... So ill do it that way..
Then what?
I start RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe on computer?

P.S. You might need a goldcard if you have a branded phone.
No i don't have branded phone... So i don't need goldcard..
Thanks a lot for help..

He showed me

no
I press yes then says bootloader - OK
Do you want to reboot device?
yes
And thats it? Am i doing it right? What now, to start on computer RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe ???
Yes, that's it. After rebooting, put your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to computer via USB and run the downloaded RUU.exe on your computer.
I have succeeded to get back factory settings.
I was hoping that camera will be back to normal, but problem stays.
I flashed same ROM that was on my phone.
Then i tried to flahs older ROM RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.0 0.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.
But it says error 104 cannot update , something like that.. How to pass that?
Will flashing older ROM maybe repair my camera?
Try 2.3.3 RUU from HTC Developer Center:
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Thanks for helping..
If I update to 2.3.3 (and problem with camera disappear, and dont need to get warranty) can i root my phone after , i've read on net that its difficult to do that?
Or can i easily downgrade to 2.2 and then root?
After flashing 2.3.3 RUU you can get S-OFF and root for Gingerbread in two very easy steps thanks to revolutionary:
http://revolutionary.io
But read documentary very careful before doing anything!
I flash it to 2.3.3 and problem with camera stays...
After i done upgrade i realesed that SIM-Unlock Utility http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726 wont work on 2.3.3 gingerbread...
arghh...
I didn't wont to unlock it when was on 2.2. Before i take phone to official service to check camera, and see if it's fixable. Because unlocking possibile will break my warranty..
So is there any way to downgrade it to 2.2 again, and perform unlock after phone goes to official service... or maybe will unlock simply work on 2.3.3 when i try later
You can try one of 2.2. RUU and start over again.
Hi,
This is how you downgrade a Desire/Bravo with the HBOOT 1.02.0001 already installed, - this method is appropriate for people who need to downgrade the HBOOT for unlock purposes. I struggled for ages on this and once I found the method thought i'd post it around the internet as I couldn't find this info anywhere.
-Summary of steps-
1)Turn S-Off + Update HBOOT
2)Downgrade HBOOT to 0.93.0001 (Turns S-ON)
I have personally tested this and it worked perfectly without any problems. However flashing anything to your phone is done at your own risk, & I accept no responsability for your device.
--Step 1--
Download and run the Revolutionary tool here http://revolutionary.io/ to turn S-Off - Follow the steps on their website for how to do this if you get stuck.
Once you have run the Revolutionary tool, when it asks if you want to install the Clockworkmod recovery press no.
You will now have an S-Off phone running HBOOT 6.93.1002
--Step 2--
Format a microSD card, download the following zip file and save it to your memory card.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/dyyn35zm07x2x7a/PB99IMG.zip LINK UPDATED 2 JAN 2013
You should now have a single file on your memory card named PB99IMG.zip
--Step 3--
Put the microSD card back in your phone and hold 'VOL+DOWN + ACTION' and press the power button to get to the HBOOT menu. Wait around 10 seconds (give or take) and the phone will detect the update and ask you to install it, Select yes to install then reboot your phone back into the HBOOT menu.
You will now have an S-On phone with the 0.93.0001 HBOOT
--Step4-- IF THIS STEP APPLIES TO YOU FOR UNLOCKING
Unlock with XTC-Clip as you normally would - Creating goldcard with 0.93.X001 HBOOT.
Your phone will now be unlocked.[/QUOTE]
NOTE: You can do the official updates through the phone as normal without loosing your unlock
Hope you find this info useful
what ruu (PB99IMG) is it?
what if someone has an orange branded phone, coz there is no ruu for it and they would need a goldcard.
what about people from different regions coz theres different ruu's for different regions aswell and they would need a gold card.
edit: its a hboot.img, thought it was an ruu.
did u try this yet? does it work?
normaly when u change hboots u have to format partitions. if u go to the trouble of getting s-off then why not just run the correct ruu for ur device, just to be safe.

Hi,
It souldn't matter what network the phone is on - The HBoot was taken from a WWE RUU & I tested it with a UK Vodaphone branded desire which worked. I used this method to unlock a 1.02.0001 phone which isnt supported by xtc hence the downgrade needed. You shouldn't need a goldcard for the downgrade part as running the revolutionary tool will switch s-off, after applying the downgraded hboot it will turn s-on but as you will be on the old 0.93.0001 hboot you can just create the goldcard with xtc and complete the unlock if this step applies to you - it probably does as I dont know another reason for downgrading to this HBOOT.
Running the downgrade will wipe the phone - it did atleast with mine.
The reason I couldnt run an RUU to downgrade the hboot after turning s-off is because revolutionarys tool adds some protection to prevent hboot flashing via RUU & fastboot. The only way I could find to do it was to flash it directly from the SD card.
As for the other regions you may be right and need a local hboot - I'm not able to test this as I only ever get UK phones to unlock. If it is the case the HBOOT which you want to downgrade to can always be extracted from a local RUU and added to your own update.zip (named correctly of course) - The network branded phones on the other hand should make no difference - as s is off, so a UK orange, vodafone etc will take the hboot from WWE RUU aslong as s is off. (This is why its neccessary to run revolutionary first)
Hope this info helps.
cool. just so u know to unlock the hboot 6.93.1002 u have to flash the Alpharev downgrader img, that way it can be overwritten by an ruu

Hi,
Thanks for mensioning that, I did actually run the Alpharev downgrader as part of the process but completely forgot to add that step ( I wrote the tutorial after doing it not during ) With me though after running the alpharev downgrade the hboot still wouldnt downgrade from the ruu - also tried manually flashing with fastboot but got various errors (something to do with usb something or other - maby it was just my usb's playing up again as they occasionaly do) so for me I still had to do the sd card way but if you find it works for you with the ruu then even better.
For anyone getting stuck, do this step after running revolutionary - Just download the Bravo Downgrader from here http://alpharev.nl/ and run it before continuing with the rest of the steps.

desire with broken volume keys
hi friends, I found a HTC Desire bravo at the flee market and bought it thinking it is actually a nexus-one... a nice phone with lots of nice futures in it after a charging session the phone boot up and it was alive back again. with one problem the volume keys was not working.. ı dismantled it and cleaned up as it is described in xda forums and didn't worked so i made a little check and found the thin foil attaching the volume keys to the main board was broken since there is no way to fix it without changing the main board and i had no intention to pay lots of money on it i left it like that with one problem; no way to boot in to recovery from start... after couple of days i found i didn't liked the rom on it i decided to change it, there was no problem since i could boot it to recovery using the restart menu which the ROM had since it was rooted but i made a mistake and fell in to a boot lope the only way to boot it back was the adb commands but phone couldn't start up so no debugging mode only fast boot so i tried many fast boot commands to boot in to recovery with no success after searching forums i found lots of desire bravos around with the same problem.. so i used ruu to reboot it properly the only ruu worked for me was the official 2.3.3 update ruu ''RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread).exe'' the phone booted and working now but no s off and no root and there was no way to root it without the volume up and down keys i was stuck with the useless unrooted rom so here how i rooted the phone without the volume keys first you have to download ''DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip'' and run it in USB debugging mode after that you have a working recovery partition to install a recovery bin using fastboot or what ever( the problem was after the update i lost the phones recovery partition and couldn't get the state s-off even i am s-off there was no recovery partition... since i am not good at commands to re format the boot loader this could be a life saver so i decided to share my experience... afterwards you can boot into recovery since you have a recovery partition you can push any recovery to your phone i think zergrush tool is not intended to use with bravo that why no body mentioned it in the bravo forums ops i forgot the say i used alphadevs methods and software to gain s-off on my phone before using zergrush i hope this will hwlp people like me stucked with non fonctioning volume keys

I flashed CM10.1_VJ_4.2.2_V5.1_Feb24, works great. I have root, but probably because I didnt have S-OFF it is giving errors doing "a2sd". I guess not recognizing partitions 15G FAT32 and 1 G ext4.
I have tried so many things without success. I do have clockworkmod recovery!
First, how can I get S-OFF in my scenario? I have tried unrevokedforever but it gets stucks "error getting root" (althou I have root since I can su).

Thanks! That worked like a charm with CM7....I had downloaded so many ROMs without success!
So after following 18 guides on trying to unlock my phone, I think I bricked it *gets stuck at HTC screen*
The current state I am in is, I have Clockwork mod installed and I can still get into the Hboot, but it says my device is an Ace... i'm not sure why. Anyway I was getting frustrated and I think I formatted my /system on my phone. What can I do to get it back or restore my phone?
- I have access to CWM and Hboot
Thank you for your help.

It's more like what haven't I done.
The latest things I did was use Clockwork Mod and I formatted everything including my /system/ folder. I did this because I was fed up and my root attempts had broken my WiFi so I wanted to get back to square 1 and try again.
Can I restore an original ROM and get rid of Clockwork Mod, if all I can really access right now is Hboot and Clockwork mod?
Formatting system does not go back to square one. Did you unlock your bootloader with HTCDev? If so, did you relock? Did you try to S-Off, and if so, with AAHK? AAHK2? Manually? Did you root? Did you flash a recovery other than CWM? Did you flash the right version? Those things could all matter. That's why I'd like to know exactly what you did.
If you can't remember, boot into the bootloader. What does it say?

I tried AAHK initially but it was not working.
I unlocked with HTCDev. I got the CID key and it said it was successful.
I don't think I relocked, not on purpose anyway.
I tried to S-off with this method:
Code:
boot to recovery (yes, the screen may well be blank, but adb should work fine)
adb push gfree /tmp/
adb shell chmod 775 /tmp/gfree
adb shell /tmp/gfree -f >> yeilds – s-off, supercid, sim-unlock
However when I tried this I got an error at the end
Code:
Attempting to power cycle eMMC… Failed.
No such directory
That should have been the last step and I would have been golden. However since it did not work, and because the guy does not support these actions, I found a much simpler application to do S-OFF and root all in one. However now that application says my phone is a device called "ace" and it will not work, which is why I was trying to go backwards.
And I only just saw now that AAHK2 is out........ ugh. I just want to go back to the beginning. I will post why my phone says in recovery mode to provide more info when I get home.
Thanks for the help so far.
Also would anyone know how I could get my hands on the original rom that would come with a Telus HTC DHD?
like what bananagranola said..you must show us what the state of your phone bootloader now..then we can continued help and guide you what the next step you must to do..

My current software version is

software is 3.12.405.1_rooted_by_nitr00
What steps should I take now that I am in this position? I am still trying to get my phone in a state that I can use my Rogers sim card. Currently I cannot find any networks with my card. I am still at the above stats, S-ON, etc..
