The *only* thing I don't like about it is how cheap and "plasticky" it feels (because it is, really) when am holding it and using it without the case I have (Ballistic SG).
That creaking sound, or that "this phone feels like a cheap piece of sh**" feeling... irritating. Fortunately I don't ever notice that anymore now that I always have the case on.
EDIT: Truth be told, that's the only reason I prefer having a case on.

I have not found my phone to be creaking or cheap feeling at all. Yes, there is plastic, but it feels very tight and durable to me. I actually used a case for a while, but I found a new love for this phone naked. If i had to say one thing that i dislike is the screen doesnt feel as responsive as an iphone. If i could have a 4 inch retina display on this phone I would consider it perfect.

im gonna humbly disagree with both of you lol.
I find the screen just as responsive if not more than the ip4s. Also, the phone is not cheap feeling at all to me. I appreciate how lightweight it is.
my MAJOR gripe is the data connectivity with this phone. I sit there and watch apps say "loading" while watching the data arrows stay dormant. 3g and 4g. I often have to back out of apps and go back into them to cause them to wake the data connection.
Other than that, this is the BEST phone ive ever owned

Its a bit of alright.

Love it , any one talking about data, reception or it being laggy is wrong the network location not GPS can be buggy and yes the battery cover creaks fyi despite the low signal bars the actual data rates are mind blowing sometimes

Love it, don't find it cheap feeling at all (and I've had a LOT of phones, I know cheap lol), my battery cover fits on snug and doesn't creak.
The Devs on this forum make the phone even more enjoyable.

This is hands-down the best phone I've ever used. I really feel for you guys that don't have good 4G you're missing a great on-line experience. I have a great case Sekio with a kick-stand. No creekiness. Rooting has added to the experience. Waiting for a CWM ICS version before I take the plunge.

Data signal from sprint where I live is why I unfortunately will be getting a galaxy nexus from Verizon in the mail in three days I hate to go to a data cap but unlimited is limited by its on speeds.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Absolutely love it. My e4gt doesn't creak or feel cheap at all.. It feels super light and futuristic to me
I use a seidio surface combo black case and holster which protects the phone perfectly. I've dropped it several times (fairly bad drops too) and not had a single crack, dent, or scratch. I get 4g 99% of the time and use wifi at home and work. I see fantastic data speeds...
Oh and its a freakin boss in terms of power, even after 6 months its still one of the tip top phones.

This is the best phone I've ever had, and I can see myself using it for a while.
The phone is sturdy, fast, and is extremely versatile so I'm really happy that I was fortunate enough to get it.
If you're in the market for one, get it! We have an awesome dev community, and with the upcoming release of ICS, this phone will only get better!

I'm happy with it.
I just escaped, er, upgraded from the Transform last week. This one is better in every respect by leaps and bounds. I have zero access to 4G and that does not bother me and I cannot comment on it.
I've had a cell phone for 12 years and they have all been plastic so I'm not sure why there is concern. Apple & Asus both both a metal cover on a device and had reception problems, let's go ahead and assume that 1+1=2.
I rooted the first day, touchwiz was the first to go, I prefer GO, so I cannot comment on its intuitive features or lack thereof.
My only complaint is this, while in my car I use Pandora. If I am making a short stop I simply unplug the wire so it pauses itself. When I come back, plug in and hit play, the phone has reduced the volume to 60%.
It bothers me to have to do extra thinking because someone at Samsung had a bright idea to help the idiots who unplug from a device and forget to reduce the volume for headphones before restarting their music.

Love this phone! Great out of the box, nice large display, FAST (even faster if you go custom), dependable, fast 4G (dependent on your location).
The only thing I'm fighting w/ is GPS reliability which I'm ironing out w/ different modem and kernel combinations. So far it looks promising. Getting GPS locks almost 100% of the time.

but, still answer in unaswerd,is this true?!!
maybe this 5gr in bruto weight 135gr for Desire mean metal against
N1 130grams plastik,I dont now maybe our bodycits are both
made from plastik-meta
You can give us answer
Just let it go, both phones are great.
Peace and love bro, peace and love!
get a life man, eveyones entitled to there opinion, oh n btw if any here actually wanted a n1 over a desire wouldnt they have bought one instead as its cheaper? now chop chop back to the land of less ram
I think they are both pretty well built phones.
There isn't much difference between them both.
I can't say I miss that second mic...
Haha, you'd think Nexus One and Desire users should actually be all cuddly and warm with each other. Both phones are pretty damn close to each other... not only by specs. It's just the software that makes a real difference. And yeah, I do have used both...

I dont think any phone I've ever had has had two mics, Never stopped me doing stuff with it, Unless im going to be using voice searching in a loud place or something, Which I never do. Also some of the desire is metal, and that part is easily dented I'd hate to see a dropped Nexus one, Ill stick with not dentable not scratchable plastic thank you very much
just some advantages that i noticed for desire.. fm radio + sound voulme more then nexus.. but common hardware is same just skin different for both build..
these phones are twin brothers
yes I now,almost everything
but this about difrences between phones = plastik cheap body of Desire
this irritating me mostly,as I now Nexus 1 is also made plasticly
becouse this phoines are twins meaning thay are made from same ****

Both phones are from the same company. The Nexus one is Google begging HTC to make them a phone and the Desire is HTC doing an equal phone to balance the market. Both phones might have their pros and cons, thats why users will love more one than another, but that doesnt make the other a ****ty piece of plastic...
You have to be open-minded and know the opinion of just few people doesnt make a solid statement.
Plastic, plastic, maybe you prefer a nice metalic body, so nice it's like a Faraday cage, so well protected that even your network provider can't reach your phone like... no, I won't say it
In my opinion, they are pretty much the same thing. Nexus1 is sexier tho, and I really like that trackball, but I think the optical one (which Desire has) is more accurate. Desire still beats N1 and I relaly love the fact that Desire has multitouch, which is a big plus for me against N1. I'll get my Desire at the end of August and I am waaaaay too excited about it. I can't wait (properly speaking).

Does it make a huge difference?
I did some incredibly unscientific tests (with a Desire), making calls and recording the other end. Even with a metric ton of white noise at quite high volumes, I could still hear myself clearly. Of course it didn't eradicate the noise, but it was at quite a low volume compared to my voice.
I'm sure someone might be able to pick fault with said test, but it leaves me satisfied.
I don't remember which site but i once read a review that had a video comparison between the effects of the lack of a second mic compared to N1...
Apparently the second noise canceling mic makes the background sound weird and robotic which IMO is very annoying. This is one of the main reason why I chose Desire over Nexus.
I can imagine how much you love your desire to take offense at the comment. But everyone are entitled their own opinion... It's like how I bash Iphones and my friend bash Android phones... But we don't argue over it. Simply Pointless.
Both phones are pretty much identical, only real difference is the noise cancelling (unnecessary) mic on the N1. Looks like the N1 owner is jealous of the Desire
And I can't see how anybody can say the build quality of the Desire is bad... Okay, maybe it's not quite as sturdy as my old iPhone, but if certainly feels more solid than anything else I've ever owned (and if you go back to older HTC devices like the TyTN and even the much more recent G1 you'll see immediately how much HTC have come on in build quality. Having said that, devices with sliding keyboards, with the exception of my old Psion Series 5, always feel flimsy to me.) Even the battery door doesn't feel too bad when it's attached to the phone (although I find removing it a bit unnerving.)
Plus, plastic tends to bounce when dropped, metal dents and looks hideous, like the back panel of my old iPhone. I'd rather have a well-made, solid plastic device than a metal one. My original-style (Polycarbonate) MacBook certainly looks better after 3 years of abuse than any of my previous (Aluminium) PowerBooks did!

Armbands for vibrant?

Anybody have a recommendation? Right now I go for a run with my ipod shuffle (the one with a clip) and a stopwatch and when I'm done I check my distance on google maps. I don't want to spend the money on a fancy gps watch so I'd love to use my phone to take the place of the three things I use now.
I would like one that is going to give the phone some protection from sweat and the elements and preferably be able to use the screen while the phone is in the band.
Edit 9/24/10: Got my armband from here http://cgi.ebay.com/C6-Sports-Armba...178137?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c152a4d59 yesterday in the mail and ran with it today for the first time. For $7 it's not bad. I can press the power button through the material and use the screen though it's awkward to do so on my arm. I can't really get the volume buttons to work very well though. Biggest problem was the GPS, mine works fine if I'm in a car moving quickly but at running speeds it drifts around pretty bad. I ran 5.5 miles and My Tracks says I did 6.8 and gained 19k feet of elevation, lol. I'm going to try something meant for running and see if works any better.
Anyway the band itself is pretty much awesome for what I paid but if I saw one made for the vibrant that I could use the buttons through easier I'd probably get one.
maybe something like this

Offtopic: what part of the 801 are you from?
Pretty much. You used that? I'd love to know if someone had tried one before I buy but if not I'll get one and report back.
I live near trolley square.
Edit: where is k town? Kaysville? Kearns?
no i havent used it....that was one of the better ones that i could find that you described.
Yeah I live by Jordan Landing on the Kearns side.
Yeah from what I've seen that looks pretty good. If I don't get any recommendations I'll probably pick that up tomorrow.

Tried this..... not bad but not great.
I have a generic one and the biggest problem I have is unlocking the phone to do anything with it. My G1 was super easy since it was on the front, but since its on the hard its rather hard to push and use.
I have the belkin armband for my ipod touch. Check it out, if its something your interested in I'll run out to my truck and grab it and see how it fits and let you know.

........which is why this one is being sold as a Vibrant case. If you look at the pic it shows an iphone in the case. It's cheap though so that is a bonus.
Ok no problem, I'm going to run out and burn one and grab it and see how it fits. Will bum someone elses phone to snap some pics for you so keep an eye out.
I got one from KMART. cheap....effective. It is made for the IPOD but I have run with it a lot using the sweetest training app out there....Endomondo and I have never had any problems with it even slipping loose at all.
Well it didn't go so well. While outside I put my vibrant into the armband case and it fit, although I did have to stretch the silicon case a bit as the size difference was greater then I had thought it would be. But it did fit. So I brought it inside and removed it to take photos. Then put it back in and the case ripped. Now I think this may or may not be a belkin case, I can not remember, but I did get it at walmart. Its worth looking into but be aware that constant removing and reinstalling will shorten the life. I have had this thing for a couple years and it has seen alot of abuse at the gym, while running, and while doing yard work so I'm sure it was already near the end of its life anyways. The pic is crappy cause I was taking it with the forward facing camera on a android tablet I'm playing with.

Lol. It's ordered so it should be here in a few days and I'll let you know what I think.
How are you guys addressing the fact that the lock button is on the side of the phone? Meaning how are you accessing it to start, stop and pause your work outs if the screen is off?
Well on the ipod one I jacked up, the volume rocker and power could be activated through the stretched silicon sides. Too bad it didn't work out.

Okay, so, after spending a bit too much time browsing this here forum I got the ridiculously terrible idea to paint my phone. Yeah, while it may have worked out for some of you, I guess I don't have the skills with a spray can as of yet, and my 600 dollar phone was a very bad place to try to learn. Anyhow, I really messed it up, and while everything still works, I would like to have my phone's sleek beauty returned as opposed to this sticky, peeling mess. So order a new housing, right? WRONG. Apparently the sprint housing literally doesn't exist online anywhere whatsoever. Yep. I've spent hours scouring the depths of the interwebs to absolutely no avail. I'm fairly sure the Verizon housing won't, in fact, work, due to the sim card slot it possesses that mine lacks. When I Google "sprint galaxy nexus replacement housing", it literally ****ing gives me links to chargers for sale. Which on its own is rather mind boggling. Anyways, what I'm hoping is that someone here happens to know where I can get my hands on a sprint gnex housing, or has one to sell. This phone is completely 100% functional, and I'd really rather not shell out 150 bucks to assurion to make it look pretty again. So, fellow nexus lovers, please hear my cries of desolation and offer some sort of advice. I miss how sexy this thing used to be... I'm never going to stop kicking myself for painting it. Anyways, hopefully some part of this wall of text made sense, because I am thoroughly desperate. Thanks.

You could try cleaning off the paint with acetone or paint thinner, tho im not sure what it will do to the finish on the nexus but it should remove some of it. other option is to sand it down gently and remove the paint the repaint. as far as the nexus housing it isnt available yet you could try finidng one online with a broken screen. otherwise at this time you may be SOL

I'd just pay the insurance, learn the lesson, and never ever do it again.
Really, if you have insurance this should be a no-brainer.

Okay, thanks for your help, guys. Btw, I was exaggerating quite a bit when I said sticky and peeling. I put a clear coat on it after the paint dried, so everything is staying like it is, both fortunately and unfortunately.

Mostly, I'd just like to replace the middle housing because I screwed up the volume button/ the battery door doesn't sit nearly as nice as it used to. However, its completely functional otherwise, which is why it seems stupid to pay a significant amount of money for a whole new phone when all it needs to be good as new is a 10 dollar part. It seems odd to me that the GSM/Verizon housings are seemingly limitless, whereas the sprint one is nowhere to be found (without an accompanying LCD, lol).

Just strip the paint for the time being. Looks to me like you didn't sand quite good enough and didn't use an adhesion promoter and the pain didn't cure correctly.
not to troll or anything, but I kind of like the design it created. Personally I'd clear coat it and use it, makes for a unique pattern. or maybe use a thin layer of black over top and wet sand it down so the patterned lines come through as red.
Actually, I was planning on keeping this back cover, most likely big just need to somehow repair my volume button.

Metal Case review.

Hello just a mini review.
I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190648473446&var=490053725270#ht_2560wt_1117

I got this silver one .
I'm really liking the shiny metallic look. It's probably not for everyone, but I liked it so much I ordered a blue one too . The case itself scratches kind of easily. It has a small faint scratch mark already and I've only been using it for a couple of days. It's also really hard to take off, much harder than any other case I've tried so far (I've used SPU rubber cases).
I also ordered some metallic battery covers to see if they look any good , got a blue and silver one. I'll update with pictures when they arrive (about 2 weeks >.>).
All in all. :good: I love this metal look.
Edit: The battery covers look really odd in my opinion. The colours don't match the border.
Here's my reception with the case after using it for a while:
I can still connect to GPS but it connects kind of slow, some times fast. I think that's just the gps being finicky though, seems to happen a lot with this phone in my area.
3G speeds seem to be unaffected (according to speed test app when i put on and take off my case)
wifi reception is lowered slightly (not much in my case, might effect you more if you have a weak router).
NFC doesn't work.
Interesting. What's the material? Aluminum? Notice any drop in wifi/cellular signal with this case?

I'm not actually sure what it's made out of. So far I haven't noticed any signal decrease, so it might not be all metal.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way you can just take a couple more pics of it? I kinda want to see it from other angles and wondering how it looks from the inside. Its okay if you cant, I'll still most likely get it as it does look pretty sharp.

The back plate is metal, aluminum I think, and honestly can't recommend it because of that even though I did like the look (check my last 2 posts in that thread).

Yeah they should be good, they aren't the best case but it works fine. My friend today was using a red version of this and dropped his phone from about chest level onto concrete and the phone was unscathed except for a very minor scratch on the bottom (cause the case doesn't protect the bottom/top for some reason)
Edit: Ah guess it does block NFC. Good thing nothing in canada uses it xD.

Haha. WiFi, on the other hand, is a pretty big issue...
Paul's Modaco patched Google Wallet works great everywhere I've tried it, and I loaded up my Google Prepaid card with $100 so NFC is a deal-breaker with cases for me.
Very happy with my current case. Just ordered a new one since I dropped my phone and the case cracked up the side a little. Did it's job perfectly.

Wifi still seems to work fine for me, but wifi in my house is pretty strong. Ah, I never used google prepaid cause not every place has pay pass enabled so I would still have to use my credit card half the time.
wow something different. I like!
I was just looking at these on eBay tonight. Any issues with GPS?
Not that i've seen.

The size of this device

Are you guys comfortable with it? I keep seeing posts not only in this forum of it cramping peoples hands etc etc.....
I'm not finding it that hard to hold, one handed operation can be challenging once in a while especially when reaching for that top left portion of the screen but no biggy.
How many people are finding it uncomfortable to hold this device. I'd also like to suggest..

+1
lol.
It took me a couple days to get use to.
The right case makes a big difference on how it feels in hand.
I wont be going back to smaller size device that's f,sure.
To hold it in one hand, I support it with my pinky from the bottom so I can reach the bottom of the phone to type. It mostly gives cramps to my hand but not a big deal. I had the same issue with my sgs2.
But 2 handed operation is excellent.
Actually I got used to this phone's size so fast that I started to feel the screen is still small. so I grabbed my sgs2 and played it a while. I felt amazed again to hold my note2
This is why I'm trying to avoid the candyshell hard cases or forget the otter box. I want something as slim as the device and still offer decent protection. I'm hoping the seidio surface does the job and hardly adds size. I ordered one last night.

Looks good, wonder if they have them at the sprint stores? I didnt even think of this I figured they'd have the sprint branding all over them.
I had to remove the slim case l bought. Otherwise, without a case, it's been totally fine.

I picked up my epic just to play with and immediately decided its to small "the epic that is" I love the feel of the note2 but I use the spen alot so onehanded is pretty much non existent for me but when I do I still feel comfortable with it and I do not have large hands lol. But like someone said use your pinky to help support it.

I love mine and really enjoy the bigger screen (coming from SGSII). I'm putting a FlyGrip on it which will make it easier for one-handed use AND it will prevent it from falling out of your hand(s). Check them out. I absolutely love my FlyGrip on my SGSII. Highly recommend it.

Yeah they stock in store.
Sprint gave up branding accsessors..heck their GN2 doesn't have any branding which is great.
Now they they need to fix CS and data speeds lol
A lot of women love using the Notes and I've never heard them complain about hands cramping. Just saying...
Using it for the past few days i don't think i could go back to the gs3. Just feels to small

I came over from the iPhone 4S, which I still have to use as my work phone , and using the iPhone now it feels absolutely uncomfortably small. I have zero issues with the size of the note at all.

As long as you didnt break your nails....
It took me all of a day to get used to it, and I have average-sized hands. I try to use it two-handed when I can, but with one-handed operation, it's a pretty simple task, especially with Swype.
