Title says it all. Gmail Dark! Tested on AOKP M4, should work on any ICS 4.0.3 or higher ROM.
push this via adb. If cut/paste doesn't work, don't ask me why.

adb push ./"Gmail.apk" /system/app

Might it be possible to theme Gmail with the Dark ICS Theme, so have the ICS blue instead of the white? Thank you!

I might do that in the future. This one was done so it worked well with Nitroz' Exodus theme- hence the black/white.
Is it possible to just download and install the apk on unrooted stock 4.0.2? Or need to be rooted and via adb only? Thanks!

Not possible on a non rooted rom. Adb is a preferred method but making a flashable rip is another option.

Fixed all errors with apktool and recompiling. Should have a working Email.apk build within a few days.
Looking great! Thanks for the follow up!
@artvandelay440 - your "inverted" version is more appealing to me. i appreciate and like that you retained the black text on white background the body section. will the email version you're converting be the same, e.g., black text on white background? thanks! (also clicked the thanks button as well)!!!

Yep. Since the body text is reliant on the formatting the sender chose, I decided not to mess with that. Email is available now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545686

It would be nice if someone came up with a flashable gapps for our device that has mms, gmail, calander, google voice, play music, play store, contacts, youtube for us that want a completely inverted AOSP experience.
Been looking for one of these myself for AOKP
Check my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647274 I used mms from ns4g, its basically stock, just inverted. Check the box that says "split counter" and 160 split is enabled.
Bump. Still looking for one that has emojis! I have a 160 split inverted right now but I would like emoji

THESE ALSO WORK ON JELLY BEAN 4.1
(but it will only work the same way it does in ICS (dont expect this to become a 4.1 app just because you installed on JB)
These have quick emoji button feature optional in settings. No mms compression.
Use it if you like it. If you don't like it then your just not cool.
**If you prefer to have white incoming text, just download the file with WHT and the color you like in the name.
Installation
Using Root Explorer (or similar) navigate to system/app
Rename your Mms.apk file to Mms.apk.bak.
Copy new Mms.apk to system/app and set permissions
Enjoy this sweet themed app.
Removal
Since we didn't flash this in CWM and everyone followed the instructions above, you simply delete Mms.apk from system/app and rename Mms.apk.bak to Mms.apk. You are now using your sucky mms app again.

Okay tried it out. Looks fantastic and works well. Two points though can you change the contact names to white? Rather than keeping it all blue. As well, when you have a category with unread messages, the grey seems a bit much. Is there any way of changing that colour? But other than that, looks fantastic and will for sure be using it!

Looking forward to it then. I'm really liking your inverted apps for JB. :good:
EDIT: There is one thing though, is it possible for unread mail in Gmail to be a bit more distinctive? It's a bit hard to tell between read and unread mail with just the bold font. Maybe a slightly different coloured background? It's not a huge issue, but it would be nice. Thanks regardless!
I saw this messaging .apk and i really like the layout and everything, I was just curious if someone could change all text colors to white for me.
Not a fan of the green timestamps and the blue reply text color in photo 1. Not a fan of the orange timestamps in photo 2. Other than that I really like it!

Might have to be using a deodexed rom to flash it. You can backup first and try it though. It might work since it's a basic mms.apk.

Tired of all the leftover gingerbread assets and color scheme leftover in your older apps. This theme eliminates all those ugly colors and follows the clean look of holo to unify your UI experience. Download is after the screenshots. Compatable with 4.0, 4.1, and 4.2. Let me know what you guys think of it. I tried to keep apps from looking glitchy as the other holo fixes I have tried have had some odd looking artifacts. I haven't come across any with my theme. Works on both my galaxy nexus and nexus 7.

It's not laziness. Some bad developers hard code text colours and other stuff so if Google changes the framework , then those apps will be screwed.

No they won't be. Simple things like having the selection highlight blue (still highlights orange in older apps without this theme)make a huge difference. I actually didn't change any colors of text at all in this mod either like some of the others have done. I did this because on other holo fixes I did find bugs but this one literally has no bugs. I have tried hundreds of apps.
