Yeah, it could be an app you downloaded. My mom is getting these but I havent had a chance to look at her phone.

It's from the free apps you've downloaded. Root the phone and install AdFree and Airblocker from the app store. That should take care of almost all of them.

What he said. I assume you're already rooted and running a custom rom with an ad blocker built in, that's why the links won't take you anywhere.
You can also install airpush detector to pinpoint the app.

I've got a Dash running WM6.
It always shows that I've got 1 voice mail message. If I have 5, it shows 1. If my voice mail box is empty, it shows 1.
Does anyone know what controls this? Is it a registry key? If so, can you tell me which one?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, did you found the solution for this, I have the same problem with my Excalibur with Ricky's 6.1 ROM
Thats weird, try to restart the phone. Also, what network are you guys running on your phones?
I had the same problem here, but it was after I had installed on of the many weather programs here.
It was getting on my nerves so bad i reflashed and it still showed up.
Eventually, I called myself, left a message, and promptly went in and deleted it... Then it was fixed.
Who knows.

That is weird that you had to do that. I also had to reflash my phone because of so many weather applications that my whole phone got screwed up badly.
Same thing here, go to HKCU\System\State\Messages\Vmail\Total\Unread and check the count, if it has a count then set it to 0.

Hi showaco,
Thanks for the tip, this just remove the icon on the top but on the panel still shows the new voicemail notification.

I had the same thing and that worked to fix it. I think i figured out that if you check your voicemail and then lose signal before your phone gets the response from your voicemail to dismiss voicemail notification, it will stay until you get another voicemail and keep signal after you disconnect. Who knows though.
Panel Notification - Voicemail
Anyone has found the solution for this problem?
I have the same problem in my Samsung i637 with WM6.5
Does anyone know how to get rid of notifications you don't want. After I flashed the international ftf I started getting notifications from some app site. I hate getting a notification beep that is usually my email and it is only one of those.

It depends on which app you are referring to...You should be able to go into the "unwanted" app and inside the settings menu it would give you an option about notifications.
Another way is if you don't want any of them to "beep" is turn off the notifications sound in the phone settings

I don't know which app it is. It is just advertisements for a new website to download apps from.
Never saw that when I switched to the international firmware. Did it start doing that before you installed anything else?

Yes it did. I have found out it is from xapush.com. I have no idea where I got it. I haven't installed anything new but I have been deleting any app I am not using trying to get rid of it.
I think I may have solved this. Once I figured out it was xapush.com I did a search on XDA. There is another app called Airpush Detector which can find which apps are using Airpush and a few other similar "advertising" schemes. It turns out it was an app for Olympic information that I download two weeks ago. I just didn't use it until right after I flashed the International firmware.
Hello everyone,
Since the beggining of this week, I'm experiencing a weird and suspicious event.
My wifi icon shows up like if I was downloading something 24/7 (please see the attached picture)
Seems like some app keeps using my wifi to send/receive data (could be a trojan ?).
I want to know your thoughts about this knowing that I rebooted both my phone and rooter several times already.
Thanks.
Hey dude,
That's normal. Most times bloatware is running as a back process on the phone. It also depends which apps you've got. Like news apps or if your Facebook or Twitter is active. Don't worry about it, I would say.

If you are worried about Trojans do a search on Play for one of the free security software. A good one will scan and show you suspicious apps you need to evaluate and possibly remove. Good luck
Best way to find out is root and use Android Firewall. It is free and useful. You can block and just check logs to see what is sending traffic.. and where.
Thanks for the answers guys
It does look like some heavy working app because It takes ages before a normal website loads.
@Beowulf_pt : that's exactly what I'm looking for, cheers !
You really need to look at what you have runing in the background and decide if you want all of it turned on. There is a lot of things that are on by default that you may not need like auto updates for apps. They will be checking to see if there is an update and use your bandwidth even if there is no update available.

It could be google instant upload / picasa (check your Google Account sync settings) or Dropbox Camera Upload (check dropbox app settings).if you have those enabled that could be the cause. I'd guess they're the most likely culprits in this case.
It's showing the little orange 'new' circle against settings but I can't find anything or clear the orange dot.
Not a biggy but annoying, any ideas?
Got the same and it can't, for the moment be cleared. It will go away i suspect after some sort of an update.

If that's the case then there's probably an update from Samsung.
Go to the settings in messages» about messages
Should be a button there to update or you can check if there's an update in the galaxy store

Yes, that's what it should lead to but it does not. A bug, me thinks

Possibly could be a weird bug but by chance what version of messages are you running?
And do you have any package disabler apps running like ccswe or package disabler pro?
Msg app 10.1.00.76 and CCSWE but latter has no impact. I've tested it, to make sure, by re-enabling all that is disabled.

Hmm, you're running a newer version than I am. Mine is 10.1.00.73
But the reason I asked about the app manager is that I wondering if you disable BadgeProvider, SamsungExperience and Galaxy Store, restart the phone and see if it goes away then you can re-enable them if you want to.
Edit:
Just realized ccswe doesn't allow you to disable certain apps and the Galaxy Store is one of them. Well the major thing is the BadgeProvider service (com.sec.andoid.provider.badge) that's the service that gives the little orange dot to apps and such if they have a notification. So if it's disabled then the orange dot should go away, restart the phone to make sure it's cleared then re-enable it if you want to.
I personally keep BadgeProvider disabled since the status bar already provides me info on which app needs attention.
No, that orange notification doesn't bother me. It will be resolved at some point I'm sure. Having spent hours of "fun" in the past trying to unravel experiments with blocking various apps that broke functionality in unexpected places I've learnt what apps and services to leave be.
Recently, out of nowhere, I started getting "Huawei video" notifications. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I've gone through the settings, but couldn't find it. Thanks.

Try looking for the culprit app then go to notifications and disable.

Thanks. Yes, that's what I normally do. But I had checked the apps list twice before posting my question, and it was not listed there. I checked again just now, and wouldn't you know it: there it was in the apps list. I must be getting senile
