in order to get this to work you have to
1.) uninstall the market you have
2.) install to /system/app
3.) fix permissions
4.) reboot
hope that helps people trying to get this to work.

My Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (gingerbread 2.3.4) received the update and it's changed already..
The application icon name = "Google Play Store" version 3.4.7 changes the name "Android Market".
and inside it, the logo is "Google Play" not the "Play Store" eventhough the contents just the same as "Android Market" version, without "Play Music", "Play Book" and "Play Movie" as in page 1..
I'm not sure I like the new name. Seems kind of immature.

I have put together a list of good applications. There are (30) to begin with and almost all of them are free. I cannot say that they are "must-have" but they are "the best". Please feel free to add yours but only after you tried it, you checked your phone resources while have it installed (e.g. memory usage, battery drain, etc) and, of course, if your level of satisfaction was high. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO PROMOTE FIRST,SECOND OR THIRD-PARTY APPLICATIONS. PLEASE!
LIST OF BEST ANDROID APPS FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY SII T989
1. Advanced Task Killer Free 1.7.9
2. Astrid Task/To Do List
No other app gives as much detail to to do lists as Astrid. Its "advanced" options lets you set priority levels, integrate with Google Calendar, sync with Google tasks, and set up tags, alerts and periodic reminders. Astrid keeps it easy, for the most part, but also offers deeper settings if you're the obsessive, customize-everything exactly-how-you-want-it type.
3. Astro File Manager 2.4.2
Metago, www.metago.net/astro
We love apps. You love apps. Thing is, they can take up valuable space on your phone. To avoid running out of space, download Astro. The app lets you back up apps on your SD card; you can't run them from there, but you can swap out apps you aren't using.
4. Bonsai Blast 1.5
Glu Mobile, www.glu.com
Great games for Android aren't as rare as they used to be, but that didn't keep us from including Bonsai Blast once again.
5. doubleTwist Player 1.0.1
doubleTwist, http://twist.to/android
doubleTwist Player for Android is a slick media player app that helps make up for the lack of iTunes on your phone. Combine it with the desktop version of doubleTwist, and you'll turn your Android device into a portable multimedia powerhouse that syncs music, (un-DRMed) iTunes playlists, and videos as well as any Apple hardware does. It's a must-have for all music lovers.
6. Facebook for Android 1.2
Facebook, www.facebook.com/apps
This is the "official" Facebook app on Android, and it serves its purpose well enough. You can post status updates, take/upload photos, and check your news stream. It's a lot faster than using the Facebook Web app, so it's the best option on Android to stay connected to all your Facebook friends.
7. Google Voice 0.3.4
Google,www.google.com/voice
Google Voice for Android remains the best way to use Google Voice on a mobile phone. If you have a virtual Google Voice number, you'll be able to make outgoing calls and SMS messages easily, including international calls that run about 2 cents per minute. This app also lets you integrate your phone's built-in address book and call log for voice calls. There are other third-party apps out there that tap into Google Voice, but stick with Google's native app; it works almost seamlessly.
8. Photoshop.com Mobile 1.2.0
Adobe, mobile.photoshop.com
Still the best free photo editing app out there, Adobe's Photoshop.com Mobile gives you an arsenal of tools to use on your Android phone. You can crop, rotate, color-correct, or change images to black-and-white with a beautifully intuitive interface. The app integrates with free Photoshop.com online accounts, but unfortunately, not other popular services such as Flickr.
9. Replica Island 1.3
Team Replica, http://replicaisland.net
Replica Island is perhaps the most sophisticated free game app on the Android platform. As a platformer, where you collect coins and avoid enemies, it's similar to older video games like Mega Man and Super Mario Brothers. But it's a must-have game that provides 40 levels of fun, and it uses phone features, such as the accelerometer quite well.
10. Ringdroid 2.3
Ringdroid, code.google.com/p/ringdroid
Ringdroid is more than a ringtone app; it's really an audio editor for your Android phone. You can use it to clip audio files to make ringtones, but also for any other purpose—for example, sending audio recordings to friends. Just take almost any unprotected audio file that your Android phone can play, slide two sliders to the beginning and end of your clip, and in an instant your new sound is done.

On top of adding languages like Chinese to its speech-to-speech arsenal, you can now translate many other languages by typing what you want translated into the program. The app can also tell you the phone's location, as long as its GPS is enabled.

Oh Thanks, Perfect...I didnt even know about half of those apps and I have been searching from a week...I hope others will get benefited from it and will shares theirs too..
I use 7 Pass for passwords because I can use the Desktop KeePass to make up and change the file and transfer to the phone. I get the dropbox integration but I have a REAL problem putting my secret, sensitive info out on storage that could be anywhere in the world including countries with less strict privacy and copyright policies. People have already been blackmailed with their secret info that was stored on cloud storage.
Apps I use:
7 - Pass
Weather channel app with live tile support. What I like most about the live tile integration they use is that it flips to a radar image and the current conditions and its free.
Built in Music Player
Camera App from Nokia: Creative Studio. The Build in panoramic feature is REALLY NICE and seemless.
eBay app
GasBuddy
Netflix
ShopSavy
Tango (The one from marketplace NOT labeled Nokia as it uses LTE not just WiFi)
Board Express
Newegg app (New I just started using it)
I use Windows Phone News about 5 times a day. Doing so I have followed tips to new apps and games that I got for free in their opening trial runs. Many are a couple bucks to buy now, but I got them for free.
Send to WP7 (I use this everyday, allows you to send the webpage/file to you phone from your desktop, Chrome to Phone was its old name or name on android.)
SkyDrive (Connects you to your Skydrive account and the 26GB of storage it gives you)
ScoreMobile (All sports scores live and past)
YouTube Pro (Download/Upload/Store on/from phone HD videos from Youtube)
Lyrics (Great lyrics app)
8Tracks & Mixtapes (Community created music mixes, streaming, select)
TuneIn Radio(If a radio station streams, they probably have it.
WpFandora (Pandora Client, Beautiful design)
Translator (Bing, new update makes for a fun app Voice/Vision/Text input/output methods)
Thumba Photo Editor Best photo editing app I have used for windows phone)
Concerts (Find where your favorite band is playing next)
FastXDA (Read only app for XDA forums, but it is fast, real fast)
Image Map Plus (Shows where your pics were taken on a map.)
ARMED! (Fun game, probably best non Xbox live game, and really it should be.)
SpellShipTactics (Interactive game of chess'ish, don't just move pieces, but controll and upgrade them in space battles.)
Wordament (Boggle type word game, you vs the internet, you could be playing ~1,000 other people in a game that starts every 2.5 minutes, last 2 minutes)
I have gone from an HD7 to the HTC Radar, and now the Lumia 900. Here is what has earned their keep in my Windows Phones:
Communication & Security
Freetalk - is a Google voice client. I couldn't indulge in my multi-phone, multi-carrier, multi-phone number lifestyle without Gogle Voice.
Rowi - a very full-featured Twitter client.
Skype - it's official! Version 1.0 was released on Friday. The Lumia 900 is great for Skype with the front camera.
Skydrive- this should be on every Windows Phone by default. 16 gb memory limit got you down? No problem! Set all your photos to automatically upload to Skydrive. Move downloaded files on to Skydrive.
LastPass - Password manager, (like 7 Pass). THe program is free to use on your Windows and Mac desktop, but you have to subscribe ($25/year) to use the mobile clients (WP7, iPhone, Android). I like it because it will fill out all passwords for me, generate secure new passwords, and store other secure information (credit cards, software licences).
Photo & Entertainment
Creative Studio - another great Nokia freebie that handles basic picture editing tasks (crop, exposure, color, contrast) as well as some artistic filters you can apply.
Picasa Metro - a client for Google Picasa Photos web service. I can upload pics from the phone to my Picasa folders, and use my Picasa pictures for things like backgrounds on the phone.
Fandango - see what's playing in movie theaters near you and buy tickets.
Netflix - a must have if you are a subscriber.
Vevo - primary site for music videos.
BBC Radio Player - listen to live BBC broadcasts. I am a big fan of programs in BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC London, and BBC Scotland. This plugs me in to those progams and all the goings on in the UK.
Reading
Weave - a deluxe RSS newsreader. Even if you don't have feeds that you follow, Weave lets you just point to subjects in which you are interested and it pulls in the top feeds for that topic. For example if you check the topic "Windows Phone" you will get Engadget, WMPoweruser, WPCentral, and others. You can uncheck any specific feeds in which you are not interested. This eliminates the need for individual reader apps (CNN, USA Today, Engadget, etc.) and gives me a single place to read everything. At the other end of the scale, you can import your entire Google Reader subscription list.
XDA-Developers - duh!
XMarks - all my bookmarks from my desktop are here on the phone.
Amazon Kindle - all my books available here.
CNN, ESPN, USA Today, Engadget, WPCentral - these are all well designed news apps with live tile support.
Shopping
eBay - A must-have for e-bay buyers and sellers.
Amazon Mobile - great for impulse buying new gadgets you read about in Weave!
Misc
Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive - Hey fellow Windows Phone owners, we have great turn-by-turn directions for FREE from Nokia, so neener, neener, neener!
Evernote - I couldn't work without this multi-platform note taking / web clipping application. Whenever I find something on the web that I might need later I paste it into Evernote and add subject tags. That way I can pull it up any time in the future. There are versions for WP7, iPhone, Android, Nokia Symbian, Windows desktop and Mac. All information is kept in sync between all your devices.
Timer - it's just a timer, like you have on your stove or microwave. But I use it all the time for cooking and knowing when to take the clothes out of the wash.

I have used both scan apps. The thing I worry about with Bing is someone being shown to me because they paid bing to be at the top of the list (like google does).
I have used both and found that bing might be more complete on barcodes.

Not sure how to take that. Super Bowl ads that we see and sometimes love, go to the companies that pay for them. Nothing gets on the airwaves anymore with $$$.
Run Keeper - Been using this for over a year and still feel this is the best Run Tracker on the market. Track run, calories burn, miles ran, weight loss and seamless integration to the website for charts, graphs and facebook sharing
Interval Timer - Create workout, interval / crossfit training, etc.
or
XTREME Tabata - Simple timer to track your tabata workout. Slick interface
WpFandora - 3rd Party Pandora app. Great 3rd party app.
or
Slacker Radio
Wiztiles - although limited due to restrictions, you can create custom tiles and have certian links. You can put a backside pic and text of the type of link
Wikitude - augmented browser
White Noise - Great sound machine for sleep or relaxation. Not as good as Android version, but still nice. Needs some polishing though.
PhotoFunia - Fun app to alter pics, put a face on a hockey player, become an astronaut, billboard, etc. Always a cool app for altering pics.
Pageonce - track all your bills, credit card payments and due dates in one site. Great tool for the money spender and procrastinators
Latitude Auto Update - Background service app that updates your latitude location for people who have accounts and like for friends and family to keep in touch with their location
gMaps - a decent alternative to get google maps. I really just use it for the Latitude function to track my friends and family since everyone still is on Android.
Flixster - Movie app like Fandango
ConnectivityShortcut - simple shortcuts to your Wifi, Bluetooth, Cell Data, and Airplane Mode. Creates tiles for them.
AnTuTu Benchmark - Benchmark testing
Creative Studio by Nokia - simple app for pics. Some filters, crops etc. I just use it for the panoramic feature. Works pretty good.
Flashlight 7 - flashlight
Vimeo - Vimeo video app. How there's not one for YouTube is beyond me I'd like a dedicated app, not an app that links to the mobile site
Everything else has been pretty much mention

Not sure how to take that. Super Bowl ads that we see and sometimes love, go to the companies that pay for them. Nothing gets on the airwaves anymore with $$$.

Once upon a time search engines showed you results based on relevance to your query. Now anyone with enough money can be put up higher on the list than what is relevant.
Thanks to all those who figured out how to make a buck off of my searches =/
A couple that haven't been mentioned yet:
Adobe Reader
Though not essential, if you receive PDF files on your email and want to open them, you will need it.
Baconit
Mentioned before, but deserves way more recognition. Incredible and smooth experience to browse reddit. Highly recommend it.
Diagnostics
Not an app from the Marketplace, but very handy to have. Dial ##634# on your phone keypad and it will automatically download it. This app allows you to run a plethora of diagnostic tools on your phone, including screen color tests, vibration tests, camera flash test (eliminates the use of apps like Flashlight-X), battery status tests, and so on.
Flixster
A good alternative to the IMDB app. Has issues with using GPS though.
Whatsapp
Everyone knows this one. Cross-platform IM app. Uses data. Push notifications work fine, but alerts are not app specific, so if you have vibrate and/or ring enabled, you will receive an alert EVERY time someone messages you (can be a problem when having group chats). Push can be turned off within the app, but it sort of defeats the purpose if you won't know who messaged you until you open the app.
Wikipanda
Best Wikipedia app I've tried. Clean and stable.
InstantReddit
FailBlog
Flashlight XT (no ads)
UC (web browser)
WolframAlpha
Youtube Pro
Thats it? no more apps?
Any free app for google talk(voice and video) ?? I did not find any...
Anybody know if there are any HDR camera apps on the marketplace? I haven't been able to find one
Edit: Sorry for getting off topic

The wildly popular Where’s My Water and Where’s My Perry games are free on the Windows Phone Store today in a single day promo offer.
Usually, the two WP8 games (WP7 smartphones are not supported by the game) cost $0.99, but today only they are available to download for free. Upon checking the deal out, we discovered that the games are still carrying the $0.99 price tag, despite what the official Windows Phone blog claims, so the promotion hasn’t kicked in just yet.
Both puzzle games developed by Disney and have become an instant hit on Android and iOS, and with today’s Windows Phone 8 deal strive to get user’s attention on Microsoft’s mobile OS users as well.
So, check out the source link below to get the links to both games and download them when the time comes.

Though I only had this tablet for 3 days do to me really disliking it, here is the list of the apps that I use and like.
Lancher; Smart Launcher Pro
Browser; Maxthon, Google Chrome
FileManager; ES File Explorer (this is a must have program, you can access all of your cloud, network, local, FTP and SD Card storage in one place, just awesome)
CloudStorage; your tablet comes with 50GB of DropBox but I would defiantly also use the 15GB of free Google Drive and OneDrive from Microsoft. The latter is fantastic)
News; FlipBoard(a must have), Google Newsstand, Appy Geek, CNN Tablet, News 360 Tablet
Video; VLC and the built in video player is all you'll ever need
Music; I use Spotify, love it but others like Pandora are also good
Torrent; Vuze, Utorrent Pro
Shopping; Amazon, eBay, Best Buy(even if you don't buy from them it's still a good app to see what the prices for things are and if especially if a certain new product is even being offered yet)
Social Media; Pinterest(this is a fantastic app and like Flipboard is a must have) and of course the usual suspects like Facebook and Twitter if you use those services, I prefer Google+
Information; Google Search, Wikipedia Tablet, Wikitionary
EBook; Aldiko Premium, Google PlayBook (I use this app the most because I can store all of my eBook on Google Drive and this app can sync with them easily)
Torrents; Vuze (this is a very nice app), uTorrent Pro
Office; QuickOffice, Kingsoft Office (very nice interface but again I use QuickOffice for the same reason I use PlayBook, it's a Google Service and I can sync my docs with ease)
Music; I'm done buying music, I use Spotify and it fits my needs wonderfully
Notes; OneNote, EverNote and SpringPad all fantastic and worth an install, I use OneNote the most because I have a Nokia 1020 phone and a Nokia 2520 for work, I scan all of my documents using Office Lens then sync with OneNote.
Chat & Video Conferencing; Viber (use this the most), Skype, Facebook Messenger and of course Google Hangouts
Photo Editing; Pixlr Express, Photo Editor (this is a fantastic program but it ran like molasses on mm Tab 3, there has been update that supposedly fixes some performance issues with the Intel but don't hold your breath, Fotor (also a great program for your phone), anything by Aviary is also good.
Wallpapers; Premium Wallpapers HD (the best wallpaper program for tablets as every wallpaper scales to portrait and landscape perfectly though the quality of some of the Photos could be better, on the crappy 1280 x 800 rez all should be fine, I was commenting about when using an ultra high rez like with the Nexus 10
Miscellaneous; 500PX, IMDB, Flikr, Photobucket
Well that's it for me, it would be a good idea to search for Android Tablet Apps in Pinterest, that's where I find a lot of great stuff to install.

Many of our Disney Blurays come with a code to make them playable via the Disney Movies Anywhere app. It makes them show up in iTunes and Google Play Movies. I just noticed they also show under "purchases" in YouTube.
When I launch the YouTube app on the Fire TV, they show up under Purchases, but when I try to play them, I just get a spinning circle with play controls under it on the screen, and they never start.
Its not just the Disney ones. LOTR, Big, and Elf which were all "freebies" in the Google Play store at one time, are also listed under my purchases in YouTube but do the same when trying to play them.
Should I be able to play them?
Oh, and regular YouTube videos play fine.
I'm having the same exact problem right now with my Fire TV stick. Would Google be blocking Amazon devices from playing their paid content? Would appreciate any ideas or solutions!

I'm also having the same issue. I just recently purchased the Fire TV box and didn't even realize that Play videos were available on YouTube until today. They simply won't play though, just an eternal progress circle........
My Youtube app must have updated. It no longer lists "Purchased" as a category from the menu.
