Custom ROM that allows access to EPST - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I read somewhere that said only the sense roms can allow access to the EPST menu, but each one I have tried has failed so far. Anyone know if there is a ROM out there that lets me dial ##778 to get to the menu?

Try a stock sense 1 ROM like stock plus or mcsense or gingerstock.
Were you trying sense 3.5 roms? Afaik they don't support epst properly.

Yes, it was Sense 3.5. I also tried the gingerstock rom and it didn't work either. I'll try and find a stock sense 1 ROM. I hear the Mcsense is pretty good. Thanks for the help.

Try Wildstangs ota 4.08.605.2 base rom, Jermaines Stock+ rom or my Touch Of Blue rom, EPST works on all of them.

I'm using the McSense rom but it doesn't seem to work for me. Am I doing something wrong? ##778 then press the call button, brings up my contacts? Strange..

That should be it. Try adding a pound to the end (##778#). I know some roms also use ##data#, *#*#program#*#*, or *#*#data#*#*

this never worked for me!

I'm gonna try the Touch of Blue next. The others didn't seem to work. Each time I hit ##778/send, it would just do nothing. It acts like it wants to open EPST, but never does.

Same here. I've tried every Sense ROM with no success, even the Touch of Blue, which us a beautiful ROM BTW. When I dial #778 and hit send, it acts like its trying to open the menu, but nothing comes up. Also, nothing responds on the screen until I hit the back button.

Very weird, i am running my rom TOB and can access it with no issues. I have always been able to access it except on a few ported roms. Im not sure what would be the difference. Same rom same phone, the only difference is whats on our emmc and sdcard, and that shouldt make a bit of difference. Mabey htc changed something in the phones along the way, causing some people to have different results than others. Only other thing i could think of is screen type, i have amoled, but that shouldnt make a difference either.
Also i noticed you said #778 it should be ##778# hit dial, may have just been a typo on your part.

Do you think maybe its because I'm using a different SD card?

Shouldnt matter, as far as i know epst does not use the sdcard.
If you really need to access those settings, you could always use QPST on your pc.

Maybe I'll get it figured out. Its weird because when I was on stock GB before I rooted I could access EPST, but since rooting I can't access it unless I restore my original rom.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA

I still cannot figure out why EPST isn't working with any rom I flash. I actually started using the Nils Business Sense 3.5 and when I dial ##778#, it says initializing, but never opens EPST. That's more then the Sense 1.0 roms have done for me.

no epst
Same here . was stock 2.3.4 and did root s-off did nandroid of stock and flashed sense + .. now no epst on anything .. restored recovery and its doing the same thing ##778# and just locks the screen up . I have to hit the back key to unfreeze it . ##diag# does work however .. ( i wish some one could figure this out i need epst . My MiP profile keeps changing from 1 to 0 on every boot and i lose 3g 1x . Could it be something different on the phones that see a working epst like the radio or s on or hboot ver ? mine is 0.92 s-off with the newest ota radio

Synergy ROM's EPST works perfect. Use ##778#.

Thanks..found my dream rom. has Everything cm does plus its 100% sense. love it and. now it on Vmobile. epst works ..skyraider 4.0 ++ . rom is not availible here though.thru the developers site only.

Help Needed. Need to get back to Rooted 2.2 or 2.3

Hey guys. I have a problem and not sure how to go about this. My Evo was at 2.2 rooted for a long while and all of a sudden it started acting up. It would always freeze and had to be rebooted constantly. So I had a back that I went back to successfully but it is at 2.1 now (Baseband 2.15.00.09.01)
Now I'm not getting the OTA update to 2.2. I go into HTC software update and it says no available updates for my phone.
So how do I get to 2.2 or 2.3 rooted?
FYI after going into bootlaoder and choosing Recovery, I get Clockworkmod Recovery. Is this normal?
You need to flash the stock rooted ROM for the latest OTA update. I would suggest trying out some different Roms, though. That's the best part of rooting.
And ClockworkMod is the most popular recovery for the Evo, so yeah that's probably right.

Sounds like the perfect time to throw CM7 on there and see what you think about AOSP Gingerbread.

It's pretty easy actually. Once you have root again (if you don't already), go to http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic and download either the newest nighly (30) or RC2 to your memory card.
Boot into Clockwork and go to backup and restore, and choose nandroid backup or backup (I'm not using clockwork, so I don't know the exact verbiage). Once the backup is complete, do a full system wipe by clicking on wipe data/factory reset.
Once that is done, choose install zip from sdcard, scroll down to cm_supersonic_full-30.zip and select it. It will install and then ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot.
Once your phone is up and running again, you'll want to get back into recovery so that you can flash GoogleApps, which you can find here: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/.
You'll flash these just like you did CyanogenMod 7 a minute ago, although you will want to wipe your cache and dalvik cache (which is located under "advanced" in the Clockwork menu) first.
All you have to do then is boot back up, go through the walkthrough to set up your google account, and then you'll be running (close to) stock Gingerbread 2.3.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.
Awesome!!! Thanks blackroseMD1!! I'll give it a try when I get home from work tonight. I'm not rooted right now. The last time I rooted I used unrevoked because it was so easy. Would that be good enough to get the process rolling?

Many recommend wiping data/factory reset (which I know was suggested and you've done), but also cache and dalvik BEFORE flashing any new ROM. Also, with CM, is it not suggested that you use Format_All?

Your best bet is to use YouMail, which is free in the market. It's a lot like Sprint's Visual VoiceMail that you have on Sense roms, but with more features. I use it, and I love it.

[Q] We Can Now Dual Boot With Boot Manager App!!!

Disclaimer: I didn't create Boot Manager and am not affiliated with the developers in anyway.
I didn't see anyone posting this yet so I figured some of you might be interested.
There's an app on the market now called Boot Manager that's 2.99 and allows you to dual boot up to 5 roms. You still have your main rom which is stored directly in your phone's memory and then up to four more that are stored and run from your sdcard. Because you're running secondary roms from your sdard those may not run as fast as your main phone rom but my preliminary testing has been pretty good.
Boot manager is simple to set up and use and requires no special skills. You don't even need to partition your sdcard.
All you have to do is put whatever roms you wish to run on your sdcard and then install them through Boot Manager. Initially setting up the roms takes maybe 15 minutes but once your done you can boot back and forth very quickly, much faster than doing nandroids.
Enjoy
Update: I'm now running 2 AOSP roms Kushdeck's 1.3b2(main rom) and SalvageMod 1.4 and a Sense rom SynergyRls1 and haven't noticed any major issues. Gps works on each rom as well as 4g. Synergy does have some lag and for this reason took some patience and a little longer to initially set up but it works decently for running off of an sdcard. On a side note I've heard claims that Synergy does have some lag issues running normally.
I plan on ordering a better sdcard with a faster class rating such as class 4 or 6 so hopefully this will decrease lag but overall I'm very impressed with Boot Manager. If nothing else this gives you a chance to test drive roms without having to go through the whole process of replacing your daily driver.
PLEASE READ: I've reached out to one of the developers of this app who's from XDA and asked for his help in answering the problems some of you are having. I wish I could help more especially since this a paid app and you guys deserve to have an app that work. Below are the links to email support through the app website as well as the one of the developers Conap who's from XDA. Maybe if they receive enough emails they will shoot over to this thread to help.
Sorry I can't help more. All I can do is verify that it's working on my Evo but don't have enough advanced skills to do a lot more.

Alright, this looks really great. Love the idea. Just wondering for those who have it, since there are different kernels associated with each ROM (going from CM to Synergy) would you have to go back in and wipe battery stats? Also, would vipermod carry from ROM to ROM or would you need to set it up for every ROM?
How much room on the SD card would you need to boot 5 ROMS?
edit: quite a bit of room, have over a gig on sd card and can't load synergy. Have to do some cleaning later. Wish it could import nands, that would rock.
edit 2: cleared room, installed synergy on slot 1, rebooted, hanging on evo 4g screen..... bah
Im trying this now. I have Mikg as my phone rom and installing miui as a test. Will report back when I do some testing on kernals and battery life.
I'm getting error on editing boot.img when trying to install salvage.
Edit: even though this is an app, someone move it to the dev section. Needs more attention.

hasn't worked yet, boo... 2 battery yanks and nand restores
Edit: Got into salvagemod from synergy through the app. Didn't flash the Gapps, so it wouldn't recognize the app, so when I tried to go back to the "phone ROM", I get a "boot.img failed to flash, not rebooting" error.

Good question. That confused me first also. You only need to do wipes if you're installing a new rom over an original one in a slot. If the slot is empty you don't need to do any wipes.
I can't address the other problem since I'm not technically proficient enough with the app yet to give you suggestions. Sorry
To flash gapps just install the rom but don't reboot install gapps over the rom in the same slot.

It takes a while. Since it's booting from your sdcard it's not quite as fast the first time as when you normally flash a rom. Mine stayed on splash screen for a little while to the first time I rebooted. Also try another rom just to see if that works for you.

Its because of CWM. Flash some CM9 ROM and try flashing this. It will work fine.
First of all, great work. I was afraid to try this because it installs TWRP. Does TWRP support CWM flashable zips? Or how can I go back to another rom if I want?
Coming to the rom itself, installed easily, first boot in 3 mins. Was laggy for some time, then became smooth. The rom is smooth overall except for the launcher. Swiping between screens was always a bit laggy. But I hate MIUI launcher anyway, so installed Apex Launcher and it was really smooth.
Also the default theme has some problem, i.e at many places it's white text written on a white background so that it is impossible to read. This is the only real complaint I have. There have been some random FCs and 1 hotboot, but overall, good work

Thanks for trying. Theme is under development so it has that issue. Yes TWRP recovery is similar to CWM. It is better than CWM. You can flash anything like in CWM
Been some more hours trying your rom. There are occasional hotboots. But apart from that when I try to view a contact from the dialer screen(using t9 search), I get FC(contacts and dialer has stopped working). Also the music player stops playing after 1 or 2 seconds when connected to headset. The latter bug I've seen in Wajk too.

You need to be on a Sense ROM. I never ran Decks, but isn't that AOSP?
I think it is AOSP rom.... I was hoping for a file or something to download to update it...
Ok you need to flash to a sense rom 1st, I recommend mikg 3.11, Then update your profile and prl, I would also recommend doing a gps clear ##gpsclrx# in the dialer, use your msl code, commit. reprovision your phone in the dialer, ##data# enter your msl code go to profile, menu, reset and itll restart your phone. if it doesnt restart do it yourself. and let it run the hands free activation
Now what you need to do is download decks reloaded .44 from the dev section in here and install that instead of deck 1.b Its the best aosp rom period. Its a fully enhanced version of decks! Follow all the instructions in the OP and you should be set!
get the msl reader off the market for your msl code

Thanks for the detailed info. Question, would I be better of just putting a sense rom back on and staying with it so that I can easily get the updates. I live in NJ and I am not really getting very good reception anymore. I was told to update my prl list every month and that would help. Is the ASOP Rom better then the sense or just preference? Thanks again for all the info!

OK, So far so good. I installed mikg 3.11, I updated the prl and profile. I was unsure of "doing a gps clear ##gpsclrx# in the dialer, use your msl code, commit" Do I just do ##4772579# for the ##gpsclrx# and ##3282# for the ##data# ? Please forgive the ignorance, I just don't want to mess it up and thank you again!!
OK, I figured I would just give it a try, I did the ##gpsclrx# thing, that worked, then I installed decks reloaded... but the phone icon doesn't work and there is know accounts tab...
What was your wipe process? I usually wipe everything x3 through amon ra. Maybe try rewiping and reinstalling. And make sure your installing decks reloaded .44 rls

I believe aosp vs sense is just preference they both do the same thing just in different ways. I love aosp for its simplicity. Sense kinda just works depending on which from tor using

Did you forget to flash gapps?

So I wipe everything 3 times like you said, and redid it. Worked like a charm!
I did run gapps and it still worked (deck reloaded) and it still worked. I did restore my apps from TI backup, so maybe that is why I didn't have to run gapps...
I have to say, I think I like mikg 3.11 better then the deck reloaded. It seems to get better reception, the bluetooth defiantly connects way faster to my truck and seems to just work great.
On another note... I have sprint, service doesn't seem to be that great by my house. I go from 4 bars to none inside my house and always drop calls and my wife has the same issues. My friend has T Mobile & Verizon and he said he gets great service everywhere with his T Mobile phone, even where his Verizon phone doesn't get any service. He also said that the internet speed is WAY faster..
So he let me borrow his T Mobile (Samsung Blase) So far coverage has been way better then Sprint!!! I think I might switch over to T Mobile. I am looking at the phones, The Blase is Gingerbread 2.3, and I really like the smaller phone. But the samsung galaxy s3 is coming out and has Ice Cream Sandwich on it, but it is a little big for me...
Is Ice Cream Sandwich a lot better then Gingerbread 2.3?
Thanks for everyone's help!!
Kyle
I believe ics is alot better the gingerbread, the newer phones are being built with ics in mind. I'm personally getting the sg3 when my upgrade is up in November

when i dial the ##3424# nothing happens, the only thing i can get to work is *#*#3282#*#*..that goes to the "programming" menu. is it my phone or the rom causing the problem?? thanks

Not that I know, I just flash any sense ROM and do what I got to do and nand back to my normal. My recommendation for a sense ROM to try it's digital karma;s 777
Blazin Fast Reloaded OG
This will work with ANY rom, sense or nonsense
open up your command prompt, go to where your adb is and type this:
c:\yourdirectory\adb shell
$ su
# echo 1 > sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/diag/enable
(the $ is if you're not at root, if you see a # then you're at root and don't need to type su)
you're now in diag mode
if you want to turn it off do the same but type echo 0 > sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/diag/enable at the adb shell commandline
i got it fixed, thanks!
just downgraded to a GB rom and it worked
