Hi Guys,
i want to know how its possibly that we can use darktremors A2SD Script with Stock Kernel and Stock ROM.
I tryed the app "Link2SD" with n 8GB EXT3 Partition mounted as Primary..
But after a restart all the User-Apps are deleted
Have anyone of you an idea wich is the best app?
Important for me is the "batch" function that allows all the apps i install automatically will move to the sd-ext partition.
thanks for your help

hi all,
i am running opendesire with a2sd+ and an ext3 partition on my sd card. quite a few apps installed.
thinking of trying one of the new gingerbread roms but i am not clear on whether i need to do anything with the ext3 partition.
as i understand it, much of the data for my installed apps is on the ext3 partition, so, when i change rom there will be a load of orphan data.
must i wipe this partition? is there any tool in clockworkmod or similar to help me do that? or do i need to pop the sd card into a linux machine and wipe it myself? or does it not need wiping at all?
thanks
slip
I use Amon RA recovery and there is an option like wipe -> ext partition.
I am pretty sure there is a similar option in Clockworkmod as well.

Trying to flash a ROM.
The ROM (MIUI) i want to flash needs A2SD.
Does having the app Apps2SD from the market installed count?
Or do i have to do S-OFF and the ext3 partition stuff
Depends on what version of a2sd you want to use if you need ext partition. You don't need to s-off to use any version of a2sd. Do a google search on a2sd and miui, they have a good explanation of the different versions. (will post the link when behind a computer)

So do i need to do the ext3 partition?
Or can i just flash it
It still depends on what version of A2SD you want to use. Read this.
i believe i'm using the Froyo Apps2SD from the market.
So does this mean i have do perform the ext3 partition to get A2SD+?
Yes, you need an EXT3 partition on your SD card to use the proper A2SD+ that is included in the ROM
I got the rom to work.
Thanks for your help anyway
Hi.
I'm in a dilemma here trying to.fimd out what is wrong. I formatted and partitioned my 4gb SD card to work with App2sd+ by making 3gb Fat32 Primary and First Partition and 1gb EXT3 Primary, however whenever apps are installed they tend to use the First partitioned instead of the reserved 1gb partition I had created.
Maybe I have done something wrong, since I am quite new to App2SD and how it works, but know the basics. I would appreciate your help.
Thank you

You must flash a rom with a2sd+ support. It's different from the built in support for a2sd, which can be found in the stock froyo roms and above.
Flash Darktremor Apps2SD for Desire in recovery and then use A2SDGUI from the Market to change settings as you like. After that do not manually move apps around. They should me installed to the internal storage which then will be your sd-card.
I failed to metion that I am using Teppic's 'Pre-rooted Stock Froyo (2.29.405.5)' ROM with the optional addon 'App2SD+' so I presume it should work fine
However, I am thinking it has something to do with the app I have installed 'Move2SD Enabler' which I think is moving everything to the External Fat32 partition'.
Can someone confirm?

yes it could be, i wondering the same things about the app2sd with my first flash with custom's rom and ap2sd+ (i uninstalled this app).
to be shure that your sript ap2sd+ is working fine you can brouwse your phone and go to system/sd you should see 4 folders... app + app-private +lost-found and dalvik-cache (for the last folder it's assumed that your script got the little "+" which means that is moving the dalvik cache to your ext partition)
hope this would help you
Another idea to see if a2sd+ is working like it should is to download Quick System Info. When you launch it you should see a line with a2sd info. If it is there then a2sd+ is ok, and you can see how much of you ext3 1GB partition is used.
I used the rom manager to make the partitions, then I format them with MiniTool.Partition.Wizard.Professional.v5.2-REDT when needed, you can resize them as needed ... you can download it at rlslog.net
Wow... Is it really time for another "how does x type of app to sd solution work?"
It really is quite simple:
Froyo a2sd uses a folder on the fat32 and the system controls, where the apps is installed, and where they are moved to.
a2sd+/legacy a2sd uses the ext-partition by symlinking the folders /data/apps and /data/dalvik-cache to this partition. This solution is transparent to the system itself, so as far as the android system is aware the apps is installed internal. This means you can use widgets from apps on this partition, and it also means that your apps will allways be installed here, so you cannot move them to internal. You will also not see the extra space, your apps will just not take up as much space when installed.
If you like you have done move the apps to sd through the froyo settings, you actually just move them from the ext-partition to the folder on the fat32-partition.
I saw a thread that someone said you can infact flash Data2SD on a stock rom. I tried doing it by reinstalling 2.3.5, installing custom recovery and then flashing Data2SD with app2SD remover, but it didn't work. Can someone please help me out with getting Data2SD working on a stock rom? I'd rather not use a custom rom if I can help it.
Hi, you can force apps to install to SD without rooting phone. You need adb shell. Run cmd as admin and run adb shell. Type pm setInstallLocation 2 and press enter. Everything you install will be moved to SD
This works, but not quite what I was looking for. I typically use App2SD for that. What I want to do is partition my SD card and use it as my internal memory.

The stock rom won't support an Ext4 partition if that's what you are using.
The kernel will support an Ext2 partition though.
Hope that helped.
So if I manually partition it using ext2, it will work? Would I have to reinstall the stock rom over again and then apply data2sd for it to work?
I tried making a ext2 partition, wiping the phone clean and then applying jikantaru's Data2SD w/ App2SD Remover but it did not change the internal memory. How can I make a stock rom have more internal memory by using Data2SD if possible?
anyone has something to add?...
Hi, I recently partitioned my SD card and moved all my apps to it.
Now I want to flash a new rom, but when I boot the new rom and use link2sd, my apps aren't there.
They are on the SD EXT partition and link2sd shows their MBs.
How can I restore my SDEXT to my new rom without wiping SDEXT and restoring and relinking from TiBu?
Thanks.

Make sure the Rom you have installed has app2sd installed and you have the right ext for your Rom version
new rom must support a2sd. if it does but isnt pre installed you may have to flash dt's a3sd when you load the rom... then after you flash the new rom open terminal emulator and type: su(enter) a2sd reinstall(enter) you will see a2sd do its thing and then your phone will reboot. you will need to also use tibackup and do a batch restore of your apps and data. This is how i do it. You may also want to download from the market, apps2sd gui. its really not that hard or time consuming.
when you partitioned did you upgrade your sdext2 partition to sdext3?

Thanks for the reply.
My partition is Ext2, I have not upgraded it.
I have been using the app Link2sd ( http://anonym.to/?https://market.android.com/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD )
Any idea on how to restore with that?
sorry bro. no clue. i recommend darktremors a2sd. most roms support it and have it preinstalled just incase here is the link to it.
