have a look around the forums, im pretty sure there is a #safe# stock rom that can be flashed but will keep your radio, hbot, s-off ect.

this site has some early stocks

Question time..

Hi all, the time has come to ask some questions about all things droid desire..
first will bring you up to speed with where im at.. prior to my desire i had only ever used windows mobile based handsets.. have had the desire for just over a month so although i have picked up a lot, mainly on this forum, im still greener than a green thing..
as soon i got the phone i rooted the phone ( failed to back up the stock rom from orange ) using this guide http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire/
i used the files suggested by the guide to root my phone.
im now aware that the rom does not allow over the air updates and im currently stuck on 1.5 version. i have tried 1 or 2 other roms at 2.2 ver but im not overlly impressed with them.
ideally i would like a stock orange rom for warranty reasons, will make a fresh post requesting people who have not rooted their orange phone to make a back up.
also i would like to know where i could find a sense based rom or how to add the sense features to a custom rom...
i agree that not all the sense ui features are every ones liking but i actually prefer some of them to the base droid ones..
Un rooting to stock is simples!
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
as for looking for a ROM based on sense, i was under the impressing that all 'stock' ROMs use HTC sense
Thanks for that, the stock Rom is for warranty reasons
the desire sense UI stuff I was on about was regarding the newer custom Roms people are making. I really like some of them but would like to retain some of the stock features. Or know how to re install them to peoples custom roms.
I might be getting my terms mixed up.
Basically I like the stock keyboard, phone dialer. An all the roms I have tried miss these.

[Q] Fooling warranty.

Alright, I have a couple questions with the Desire Z from the Canadian provider Bell.
I am out to buy one in a matter of hours and I want to know (and most likely reassure that I have a plan to fall back to) that I am able to restore my Desire Z to its original stock ROM, and unlock the perma-root.
However, I am really uncertain; I've found a ROOT/UNROOT thread on the Desire Z.
Does it update if the firmware is out of date, and where's the Bell Stock ROM?
Link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11419864
I apologize in advance if I may have missed the thread of the ROM.
Well as long as you get the orginal stock rom that came with the phone it will update it self then ask you to install the update but that from my knowledge.

[Q] what is most stable custom rom uk user

Hi
I have wfs a510e with s-on, unlocked bootloader via htcdev, and rooted using lordaio tool.
Spent the past week reading posts on various roms but can't decide which to use. I was torn towards matte or wfsdev but still undecided. Any advice, I like the idea of removing unwanted app and link2sd, just confused after all the reading.
Thanks
Why not download cm7.2 and hensemod try them both.
Make nandroid backups of your original Rom and the two I suggested once you set them up, then you can decide yourself and flash between them as and when you feel like a change.
Flashing backups is only really a 5 minute job.
Good luck mate.
Any questions just ask.

I'm in the UK.
This is where I normally advertise my ROM. (.sense)
But the truth is the most STABLE is stock sense.

Battery ...

I was charging my phone last night (turned off while charging), and the system tells me my HOX was awake and took around nine hours to finish charging??
And the battery keeps on dropping this morning, until now... currently It is 74%...
I never used any battery consuming widgets wallpapers settings & etc...
Just chatting with friends and surfing the xda forums ...
What custom ROM, recovery do you guys recommend me (tegra 3 based hox) running stock jellybean. Thx
Xenon

Did nothing (screen off)
And my hox drained 7 more percent in 4 minutes...

Have you found any rouge apps that might be causing this?
I had this problem before, I full wiped and selectively restore apps to be installed, got rid of the slow charge and awake.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Scanned for any bloatwares, no battery-draining-apps...T.T
The weird thing is, yesterday afternoon, I only need to charge for less than 4 hours to full battery (from 2x%). Weird o.o

I see you got your hox rooted finally..
Well, I update to jelly bean with official OTA couple of weeks ago and playing with stock recovery+stock rom+relocked bootloader and not rooted for several days without any problem. But as soon as I re-unlocked my bootloader+flash custom recovery+root (stock JB rom), my battery was dropping like hell.. the way I look at that is like the new stock JB rom+stock kernel is not so stable for cid : htc_44 (still hboot 1.36) . Thats why some of the hox in europe already upgraded to 1.39 (small update right after 1.36 released).
Any recovery should do fine CWM or TWRP. As for rom, every custom ron have their own pro and con. Plus, everyone got their own taste. So I say, you just make a nandroid backup and try several rom that you think will suite you.
I'm using ViperX rom since ICS version (that is since 1st day I git my hox), and now we got ViperX JB. The most Advanced Rom you can find here.
Here is the thread that really usefull for every one.

Most Advanced Rom is pushing it a bit IMO. I would say advanced= most up to date, and on that logic all built from source roms are most"advanced"

My recovery is clockworkmod 5.0.2.0, right now the phone is running the cyanogenmod 7.2, idk what other info would be useful but im happy to answer any questions
Read the op in the first thread you linked. It gives instructions on flashing firmware. And check the other which rom is best threads. This has been addressed numerous times.

Please tell us about your setup. Are you dev unlocked, s-off? Verizon phone? What rom?
Did you wipe your cache and delvik cache too?
Note: I may have spelled that wrong.
