[PROJECT] Optimize ICS for HDPI - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

I think that Google, during the ICS design process, decided to optimise all of their icons to XHDPI devices. With all the HD devices coming out that was the wise thing to do but when these icons were scaled down they ended up looking very blurred - almost too anti-aliased.
I decided to re-create these icons to look sharper (by removing all of the anti-aliasing, you don't need it at such a small size) adding small modifications as I go along such as changing the data indicator fonts from Droid Sans to Roboto.
Please bear in mind that this is still unfinished, I still have a lot of icons to make.
Here is a comparison:

May I add, Roboto looks terrible at small font size.
I'll get around to making an update.zip soon, but meanwhile here is a zip file containing all of the images. If you want any other icons made, just post it's name as a reply.

Dos anybody know how to make a one-size-fits-all update.zip (like Vertumus' universal themes)? It will be a bit tedious to change icons in each and every CM9 nightly, plus bezke's AOKP and Codename Android ports!

I would like to see the compqrison but is the pic deleted???

"universal" themes are done using VillainTheme (commonly called VRTheme):

Just a simple mod that will keep the clock in the pull down present no matter the clock option you chose, including hide clock. Nothing else is included or changed.

Thanks
I´m sure he flashed a theme for theme chooser.

Hello Lichti, I also already followed your MOD's; nice jobs you did.
I know that I can find the png's in the xhdpi folder but in the case of CM ROM's not. I managed to use a Battery_Mod tool from the command line but the size was not ok. On AndroidME, I just pasted the pictures I liked. I also need to mod the stat_sys_battery and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml's..... and can't on Ubuntu....
Updated. Please stay on topic, thanks.

[THEME]{URBAN STYLE}[DropUI inspired]

Hey folks!
About on week ago, i was looking make some changes in SGS3 but i didn't see anything interesting. Then i found this thread "Drop UI" and i looks just amazing. The only problems that i saw with it, was the fact that some paid apps are needed to make this work.
Anyway i brought all my those apps and set up my phone, and i must say that it was looking pretty good! So, after that, when i understood when the "Theme" works, i decided to make my own theme, Drop UI is really beautiful but for me it looks a lot like an iPhone.
After took some fonts, look for some images and spend a lot of time in front of Photoshop, i got a theme that i call it "Urban Style". It tried to make it minimalist as possible but i didn't get what i was looking for, instead of it "Urban Style" is a cool theme made just by black-white-grey colours, some "Cities images" and also "Robot" font downloaded just from "Google Design".

All the images was taken from "Flickr" which has "Common Creative Copyright".
The icons are property of "hunterdsg" and it was downloaded from here
If you like it and would like to use, just follow the tutorial from "DropUI" but using the images from my zip file. I'm also thinking about doing my own tutorial and how to change the paid apps for free ones. All comments are welcome.
The main idea of this kind of theming, came from "SilentRazor", so all the credits is for him.

Good one mate. I have succesfully applied your theme with some adjustment of my own. You should post it on mycolorscreen.com and make one with more colourful wallpapers

Thanks, actually i'm working in a new one. Soon i'll post it

[FONT] Source Sans Pro (4.2 - 4.2.1)

This has become my favorite font for anything running on a screen, as it was specifically designed for user interfaces. At first glance, it looks very similar to roboto (the default font in android 4.0+), but its a tad bit smaller and drastically sharper. At least on a computer, you can make it nearly microscopic and its still completely readable.
I had wanted to try it on android for a while, but changing the fonts got more complicated with ICS (and above). I finally got enough motivation to make a flashable zip, and its gorgeous. There's no graphical weirdness like most of the other fonts you can replace roboto with... it flows perfectly with jellybean.
You kinda need to actually try it to see just how incredibly crisp and sharp it is..... the screenshots don't do it justice. Over the last 6 months or so, it has become the gold-standard of fonts for use in GUI's between me and my geek friends.
http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/2012/08/source-sans-pro.html
Instructions:
1) reboot into recovery
2) make a backup (...just in case)
3) flash sourcesanspro.zip
4) wipe cache + dalvik (otherwise you get bootloops due to broken font caching)
NOTE - your phone may be laggy for ~ 5-10 minutes while font caches are rebuilt
I also included a zip to restore to the stock fonts. It should be noted that sourcesanspro.zip will only replace roboto fonts, while stock.zip will replace the entire fonts folder to what is on the stock image.
Just like any other *.zip you would find here, i take no responsibility if your phone bricks or catches on fire or whatever.... i tested both of these several times already. All credit for the font goes to Adobe, I simply repackaged it for android.

[Mod/Theme]+[Black Add-On][DIY] App/Contacts Custom Backgrounds

Firstly,
Thanks to original21 for posting eng.stk & blackhand1001's DarkerMod Universal Theme. And thanks to original21 for his work to help make it even better.
Credit me only the app/contacts background examples.
All the real work is theirs and all other credit is eng.stk, blackhand1001 & original21's, not mine.
Here is original21's thread - please go thank him if you appreciate this thread. Thank me too but thank him first
Also check to see if your ROM is good for this. Some have reported issues on some.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878871
I like to direct people to the original work so please go there for full instructions on flashing the zips in custom recovery
[no need to wipe & I am not responsible for any damage you do in the process of flashing or as a result of the DIY]
DIY
Here's what I did. [I'll do a better diy if requested]
Super easy..
1. Open zip archive in 7zip
2. Navigate to framework nodpi folder and replace background picture with one of your choices [720x1280 but it'll stretch in landscape]
3. Navagte to system app Contacts nodpi folder and replace background. Same deal as 2.
I'm on apophis9283's AOKP 4.2.2 and have only tested on this. Universal Black Backgrounds v8.4 has not interfered with any other zips/mods or setting changes on my phone, with or without my bg's.
You can find his rock solid build here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106640
Here's my examples and the zips/wallpapers are below.
I call them examples because ultimately I hope you will do your own and share them with me.
I find this to be a simple way to personalize and get eng.stk & blackhand1001's amazing black menus and the additions made by original21.

[THEME][VRT] MotoBlur Theme [11-APRIL-2013]

MotoBlur Theme 1. Credits
The whole Motorola Blur interface has most of the AOSP looks. So, with his permission I have used the JB Domination Theme mainly. Without Vertumus's JB Domination theme, this would be Impossible for me to even come up with this idea. (Thanks to Vertumus and all others who have helped him make that beautiful theme).
Secondly, I want to thank ThilinaC for an awesome dialer that i have used for this theme.
Finally, I want to thank ksr007 for teaching me stuffs on using VRT.
Basically, all of my work was to replace many pngs, remove some, add some.
(Practically, this is NOT my work at all.)
2. About
I prepared this because one of my favorite interfaces apart from TouchWiz and AOSP is MotoBlur. Have been loving it since i first saw and was crazy about Atrix 2 quite some time back. After Motorola STOPPED it's sales and services in Asia, I wasn't able to get a Moto phone. LOL. So, I am forced to make my S III look like a Moto Droid device.
3. What is Themed?
Again, I say - This is most of stock android looks. I did not do most of it.
-Most of SystemUI.
-Dialer (Look alike of Dialer from Elegant theme )
-Statusbar
-Most of the icons.
-Settings
-Camera (AOSP look from theme by Vertumus)
Right now, it almost looks like Moto Blur. Will be updating more after my exams.
