[Q][Solved] 3G/4G connection problem - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

I am facing problem with using 3G/4G connection after removing Juice Defender. I have tried the 2g/3g/4g switching function with the installation of AOSP helper.
Now when I turn on data connection, my SGW can only connect with GRPS. What should I do to get back my 3G/4G connection?

have you tried going to settings>wireless>mobile networks>network mode> and changing to either WCDMA or GPRS/WCDMA auto mode?

I am having a similar problem, only difference is that I have GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) activated and Use Packet data activated. The phone only picks up Edge. My mobile network carrier Digicel has confirmed thar my 3g/4g data plan is activated. Unfortunately my Galaxy W is unable to connect to there 3g/4g network. The mobile carrier has told me that the specs of the phone comply with their 3g/4g network but I have also read on their website that "Devices must have the 850MHZ band to work on Digicel 4G Mobile." and specs of the Galaxy W - 3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100.
Would like to know if someone can help with this problem or it is not fixable. Thanks in advance.

Preferred network type?

What should I set mine to?
WCDMA preferred, gsm only, wcdma only, gsm auto prol, cdma auto prl, cdma only, evdo only, gsm/cdma auto prl, lte/cdma/evdo, lte/gsm/wcdma, lte/cdma/ evdo/gsm/ wcdma , lte only, lte/wcdma, or unknown?
Those are all the options i am given when i go into the hidden menu.
The area I live in gets pretty good signal. I want the fastest 4g speeds. thanks.
Wcdma preferred should be the best, wcdma only will not drop to 2G but you might wost battery life depending how good is the network where you live

I've tried to set my type to anything other than gsm (auto) and it goes back the moment I close and reopen Preferred network type. What's up with that?
Stock rom, rooted only.

Nice! Wcdma only might use a lot more battery power... I have noticed that when I put my to wcdma preferred my battery life went down significantlly... but that's maybe because I also put my brightness to 100%

Are you inside a building? Bell's LTE penetration is....enough said.
Did you get LTE with stock rom? If so it could be a setting in the rom somewhere. I also have troubles with LTE when in a building (if thats the case)
I've been outside a building and still don't get lte in the kitchener Guelph area where lte is supported I also changed the settings to gsm/lte but still never see 4G on the top

Go on your network setting and select WCDMA ONLY if you are able...

I'm on Virgin Mobile Canada (Bell) and was having issues getting 4G (LTE). I believe it was posted on the CM10 thread but I reposted this as someone else was asking the same thing, but if you can't get 4G working even with the correct APN, go to your dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
This will take you to the phone testing menu. Tap Phone information, scroll down to the selectable list which may say CDMA or GSM/CDMA. Change that to LTE/GSM or LTE/GSM/CDMA and that should get it working again.
This worked for me on CM10, but AOKP should be close enough that this may help you out.
I'm on Att but the 9-8 build of aokp defaults to wcdma preferred on boot up..I know I live in an LTE area so what I did was *#*#4636#*#* then choose LTE only to force it into LTE coverage after that choose LTE/GSM/CDMA prl auto then or LTE should stick..for me if I chose LTE/GSM/CDMA first it would still default to wcdma...hope this helps...keep in mind you have to perform this after every reboot until its changed by task if it ever is in future builds.

Hmmm, that's interesting. On CM10, I don't need to change that on every reboot. Not even after a dirty flash. Just after a clean flash.
I had the same problem on rogers in Vancouver also running cm10 make sure you change your APN to the lte version also where it says APN type I put default. Another thing that may confuse you is that there is no lte icon on cm10 it says 4g instead

[Q] download data and talk on phone at the same time?

I am thinking purchasing this phone in the next week or so and I have a question for those that already have it. I have had people (even from sprint) tell me that you can use the data with wifi OFF and place a phone call at the same time and some people (even from sprint) tell me you can't. Basically can you download a app while in a phone call with wifi OFF? thanks for your help.
Not on 3G. I hear its possible on LTE but I don't have it yet in my area.

Also articles like this one and other posts like this one. There is a 14 day return policy with Sprint so if you're in an area that has LTE, you can test. If it doesn't work, return it within the 14 days and you're good.

If somebody had a gs3 in one hand and a note II in the other and explained everything about them, and the last thing they told me was that I cant post on my wall while talking on the phone with the note II. I would still buy the note II with all the features and power this phone has.
From what I gather the reason this only works on LTE or Wifi is that the data is used from those, the 3g is used for talk during the call so it can use its secodn set of of antennas for data.
There are other phones with Sprint that have dual cdma chips in them (ie LG Viper)

The 3g uses the same network as voice (ie CDMA) only one can use it at a time, either voice or data. However 4g wimax and 4g lte use a different network so therefore you can surf and talk simultaneously. Unless the phone has dual cdma chips in them to do 3g and talk simultaneously which few of sprints phones are equipped with.

If you mean being able to use internet during a call, it depends on your carrier and the wireless technology they use.
If your carrier uses cdma technology (e.g. Verizon), then you cant, as cdma does not support voice and packet service simultaneously.
If wcdma is used, then you can used both voice and packet service at the same time.

Is that you mean this is the network operator problem, not Note 2 (phone) problem?
But I tried to use the same network operator (in my country called DIGI, my current phone line) with IPhone, it work fine!!
But, when I put the same SIM card into Note 2, it does not 'always' work!! I mean sometime it work, most of the time it does not work!!

Your area may have bad 3g connection (3g,H,H+) and signal will drop to only GSM (GPRS/EDGE). In GSM mode you cannot make calls and use data connection at the same time.
Try changing your network connection to only WCDMA and retest.

fix for disconnect from 3g network

For anyone having issues with getting disconnected from 3g network. If you find that you are continuously getting disconnected from the 3g network on Sprint, goto your network settings and change your preferred network setting from lte/cdma to CDMA only. That should keep you on the 3g network without having to continuously reboot all the time. It's not a problem with your Rom I think it's an issue with the lte network. Being that it may not be up and running in your town. Yes they are advertising it but it is not online across the entire country yet.
