Yep. Nitsuj wants to mess with it, but we don't have a kernel dev so we can't really get it working without one.
Noooooooooo!!!!! That really sucks.

Just an FYI, my friend's mom works for verizon, and he is going to try to get an ICS kernel for us. He is the one who leaked all the Rezound ICS stuff to the devs over there.

There was that guy on Twitter who said he knows someone who may be able to get a hold of it as well. He said he was gonna get the kernel for ICS if nothing else.

the kernel would be enough to boot sensation xl ics sense with my skill level....though the libs/bins would be needed to get it a lot more functional (gb libs/bins will work but not as well)
eh why split hairs, id take the kernel if i couldnt get the whole RUU

so ive been holding off on switching to sprint, all because i want an evo but i hate hate sense!! has no one made a stock froyo rom yet? is it not possible? or a rom with no sense in it? like not just some stuff taken out i mean completely sense free!?!?
All of the Froyo ROMs that first surfaced were AOSP I believe. There are plenty to choose from.

You can just turn off sense and use a normal android interface.

did you check the dev section ?
CyanogenMod, the greatest AOSP ROM made, is expected to release on the EVO either today or in the very near future.

No, you can disable the Sense home launcher. You can't fully disable Sense by any stretch of the imagination without an AOSP ROM.

i believe it's still going to be rc1, so not everything is going to be working (wimax and hdmi come to mind right now).
but yes, still more than likely to be more polished than sense.
yea i saw the one rom looked pretty proising(except said there were still some issues here and there with it) i was hoping for a pretty much final build all done and good to go! oh well i can wait a bit longer i have a nexus one now so no big rush!

AOSP means Android Open Source Project
AOSP roms have Android that isn't molested by anyone else besides Google. No fluff added.

capychimp got his hands on a sensation ics leak (4.0.1)
and no...i dont think its easily or even possible to port to our phone (we dont have a sense ics kernel, and it would need to be resized in m10 and i dont know that m10 would work with it)
but interesting that the stock launcher changes so much
looks interesting
Nice. I wanna try really bad lol.

I'm sure someone will figure something out. I posted the link to capys thread over at newts place. I'm hoping he'll take a look at it. He may get drellisdee to hack around on the included kernel to make it work.
Either way, now that this is out, we should see more ports soon.
I was kinda hoping it'd be sense 4.0 on it though instead of modified 3.5. We have 3 versions of 3.5 now??

So far Aero has only messed with AOSP that I know of, but he seems to be a kernel genius that's for sure. I mean her hacked up gb kernel stuff and made it work with ICS. Freaking. Genius.
Lets hope we'll see it soon. I wanna play with it even if there's no theming yet lol. (I say that cuz I'd want a different status bar since its ICS and all. Maybe ICS icons but in white. )

its my understanding that htc doesn not automatically update ur sense version with ur os update
for example i think the og inc is still on sense 1.0 officially on gb
im not even sure if the sensation on gb is officially still sense 3 or had been upgraded to sense 3.5...so i cant say if it was an upgrade or the same
id imagine htc will save sense 4 for the launch of their next gen ics phones

Ugh horrible. Doesn't resemble vanilla ICS in any way which is a shame given the work Google's done on it. I was a fan of Sense back in the Froyo days, but now that stock Android actually has some style to it and looks very good, I can't see myself ever returning to Sense.

Oems were always going to heavily customize the.os
Don't see why ics would be any different
That being said, this is clearly an early build....not new sense sense 4.0
So let's see how that turns out

yup, the sony roms dont look any different than froyo/gb and neither does samsung's touchwiz ics

Is there a possibility that devs... just do this to speed up the process of releasing ICS on INC2? ICS+ HTC Sense....i Don't know anything about dev works... but if we put some SENSE apk's and replace or incorporate some ICS apk's that are impossible to transfer to our INC2 then we will have a good working Hybrid ROM ....lol,. Maybe I'm just too farfetched .

Though it is theoretically possible to merge AOSP and Sense frameworks, doing so for ICS is a touch out of the league for our phone just yet. It's really hard to get the two to play nicely together.

corcor67 tried modding a sense kernel for me to try and boot ics sense, but it was a no-go
we *might* get lucky and get an ics update sometime after the inc s/desire s/dhd which are scheduled....but idk.....im hopeful
sense apks will in all likelyhood not work with aosp w/o heavy modifications to aosp frameworks (and no one wants to do that)
whereas aosp apks can be pulled into sense ics (but we dont have it so its non starter)

potentially yes, i talked to cjward from virtuous and he said they would try to at some point for vivow but they dont have the device and are still working ics sense stuff out for phones they do have
I just read an article that explained that the Incredible S is receiving their ICS update today. And basically since that phone is pretty much exactly the same as ours... I dont know much about this kind of stuff but i expect this to be good for us.

This means everything to us. Now we can extract the needed drivers that will work with our hardware (the same hardware the S uses). This is just as good as official ICS.
But this is also a sign that we will get the update soon.

1) being one of 2 or 3 people on this device who actually works with this stuff, im qualified in saying its not any better help than the chinese inc2 roms or the previous inc s ics roms...unless cam libs fix flash timing
2) we need kernel source, and not kernel source for the vivo...i have repeatedly contacted htcdev and keep getting the same run around that they release source 90-120 days after an ota...so for the chinese inc2 ics roms...that could be as late as october
3) no, its not as good as official inc2 verizon ics...not at all...please dont spread false information
edit:
4) it doesnt mean anything in relation to our own timeline as to when we will get vzw sense ics...the inc s got sense 3.0 updates that we never got, and its a gsm phone that updates (in theory) much faster than ours do
Amen sista!
