I've decided to start this thread because like others I'm always looking for new Applications & Widgets for my device. With the massive amount of Application releases each day it's quite time consuming to constantly keep up to date let alone test out each of these.
With that said, what are some Applications / Widgets you simply cannot live without? Those that look good on the homescreen / lockscreen / etc.
If you'd like to include a screenshot with your post as well that'd be great, let's build a good list for people who aren't familiar with all the Applications the Android Market has to offer!
--
With that said I'd have to put Poweramp in the list, it's simply the best Application for music with a ton of options.

(Currently on sale in the market this weekend for $1.99 as opposed to the $4.99 normal price tag)
Hmm... I'd have to say mClock for the aesthetics and simple calendar widget for functionality and aesthetics. And Android pro Widgets rule too...

Quite simple really...
1.) Just download the image you want to look up.
2.) Edit that image to crop out unnecessary details.
3.) Upload that image to Google Image Search.
4.) Profit.

Sure. Here you go. I edited the Mario one so that there is more black space to align with homescreens properly. Added an extra one for fun. These images aren't mine... I found these on the "post your homescreen thread" here at XDA.
Just started using WidgetLocker these past few days, seems it's transitioned into more of a stable application for the Nexus. I'm having no noticeable lag at this time.
WidgetLocker Lockscreen
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker
My must-have apps/widgets would be:
BeWeather Pro - very nice weather app with an assortment of widget sizes that can be skinned via BeWeather skins OR Beautiful Widget skins.
PlayerPro - Music app that I absolutely love. Has a fantastic GUI, great sound quality and the dev is very responsive. I've tried just about every music app out there and this is one fits my musical needs best.
XiiaLive - Awesome internet radio station app that plays Shoutcast stations. Use this to blast my internet dance radio stations through my car stereo while having my Gnex paired to it via Bluetooth).
Equalizer (by Smart Android Apps) - Great EQ app that I use to have equalized sound in the various music apps on my phone (PlayerPro, Google Music, XiiaLive, Digitally Imported, etc.).
CarHome Ultra - Fantastic app that takes care of the problem of Samsung taking forever-and-a-day to release their stupid official car dock for the Gnex by having the option to automatically put my phone in car mode when my phone connects to my car stereo over Bluetooth. Love this app!
gReader Pro - Best RSS reader I've found that can access Google Reader feeds. Again, tried many, many various RSS apps out there and this one stomps them all (for my needs anyway).
Nova Launcher - Takes the native ICS launcher and kicks it up a notch with some very nice extra features. Kinda funny/sad that it does a better job with controlling lag when using the stock ICS Live Wallpapers than Google's own native launcher.
Pure Calendar - Skinnable widget that can pull my Google Calendar and Touchdown Exchange calendar data together and display them all very nicely in a scrollable widget. The dev of the "Pure" series of apps/widgets really does a great job with all of the apps in this line.
iSyncr - Fantastic app that allows me to sync my iTunes-based playlists on my iMac to my Gnex. Also has a companion app to do the syncing wirelessly.
Google Voice - For all the options it gives to deal with voicemail messages, spam calls/texts, not to mention free texting! Been using this since it became available and I think I'd pretty much die without it now. haha
WiFi File Explorer Pro - Handy app that allows me to access my phone from my computer over my home wifi network.
----------------------
Sorry if this list it a bit long but these are all the apps I use regularly and would dearly miss if they were to go away.

Hey man I tried sending you a message but apparently XDA is real screwy and need to get some bugs fixed. anyway...I was wondering how you got the mclock widget to resize to fit the nexus' screen. I used the .xml file from Red X but he made the width 420 so it shows up really small on the nexus screen. If you could let me know how to resize it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

A novice question, is this launcher gpu accelerated? Or it's relying on the force gpu option?
Wow excellent launcher! Nice work and thanks!
Just wondering if you could add the option to have the persistent google search thingy... I kind of got used to it.
Also the ability to stick your folders into the app drawer would be nice as well.

Nice! I like where this is heading. I would love too see the ability to choose how many home screens to have, and the ability to create folders in the app drawer (10p sale has filled it right up!)
There's a problem with the icons, whatever I changed it wont register and it restored back to default every reboot. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I've tested it few times already.

Some bugs
First of all thanks for this great mod, I think it has great potential.
After setting up my Homescreens I found some bugs.
1. If I disable wallpaper scrolling after some time the wallpaper isn´t anymore centered.
2. After a reboot, there are some widgets disappeared from the Homescreens. After readding the widgets, this happens again after a reboot.
3. One time happend (after switching from market back to homescreen) that the searchbar widget comes back on top of my homescreens and it overlaps it with my widgets.
If I find another bugs, I will report them again.
Thanks again and keep working on it!
Edit: The issue under 2 appears when u add the widgets the 'old way' by long-pressing on home screen. If u add them through the app drawer they are still there after a reboot.

Great launcher but I've got a couple of suggestions:
Although everyone seemed to hate the search bar at the top I'd kinda got used to it and now miss it so an option to keep it there would be great.
How about having a homescreen Scroll effect the same as the one in the app drawer?
Other than that keep up the good work!

Agreed, miss my search bar
Excellent, I've been looking for something that would essentially just remove the search bar
However 2 things would be great
1) An option to set the number of home screens
2) For some reason I can't use Desktop Visualiser to replace the stock icons at the bottom. On the ICS launcher I can choose "Desktop VisulizR" to add a custom shortcut, small enough to replace Phone, Contacts etc. But for some reason this widget doesn't show in Nova launcher.
Great work, looking forward to full release.

I don't use the black background cuz I like it, it's because WP clock does not properly work on the Nitro. When using WP Clock with a background image, the image will not fill the whole screen, but leaves this little space at the bottom about half the height of the dock, so it looks somewhat funny. WP clock said they are working on a new version of WP clock, which is optimized for HD screens.

Ok, I've got nothing to "flaunt", but I am finally happy with my lockscreen =) For whatever reason, I felt compelled to tinker with the lock screen a bit, so I'm sharing what I did-
I use the lock pattern, but I hate the dots, hate the carrier, hate the line separating the time and the dots, and hate the emergency call button. Ugly... So I changed them all =)
Changed PNGs to transparent dots
Removed carrier in lock screen (as well as notification bar from before) - XML edit
Made the separator line super faint (turns out I like a tiny bit of line =) ) - PNG swap
Removed emergency call button so it only appears after failed pattern unlock - XML edit
I know where the dots are, so I just have them appear only when pressed (but even then, I made them more transparent)
Now I'm happy =)
looks pretty schnazzy in here!

No screen shots to provide but I have tried a few combinations of having different widgets but found it slows down the phone enough for me to notice lag. For example, once I add a full calendar widget to one of the home screen the switch between screens becomes laggy. Does that happen with you guys too?

I'm loving my Galaxy Nexus thus far and am sure to be posting in these forums many times over the coming days (weeks, months, etc). I was hoping someone could recommend a good RSS app for me. I've always used an app called NewsRoom which I absolutely love but it seems the developer has pretty much abandoned it and it doesn't work well on ICS. The main thing I liked so much about NewsRoom was its ability to load all unread articles (and not just from one site/feed) in order from oldest to newest, and that it loaded full articles without having to follow a link to read the whole article. I could get all my news from all different places in the order it happened without having to leave ths app.
I've used NewsRoom for so long that I just can't get acclimated to any of the apps I've tried so far (unofficial greader, Pulse, currents) and was hoping for some suggestions. Thanks in advance!
i know NewsRob is a pretty popular one, but i always find myself going back to the official reader app from Google.
i would take some caution though, per some comments in reviews it seems that its a bit wonky with ICS and may not let the phone sleep properly.
EDIT: NewsRob has the sleep/ICS issues - Offical Google Reader is A-OK.
I use AtomaRSS myself and love the widgets. Easily synced with my Google Reader account and I pre-load all my articles so I can read them offline.

Same here Google reader! Just set it up to not sync automaticly and you're good to go!

Another vote for Google reader here! I haven't bothered to try any others but Google reader works perfectly for me.
Another vote for google reader here, although i have it set to sync automatically and am not seeing excessive battery drain, the stock widget and the APW Reader widget are both good, go with APW if you like transparent widgets.

I have mine set for automatic sync too and haven't seen any impact on battery either. I have two news widgets on my home screen. I love turning my phone on and being able to see news right there on the screen.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of Feedr. I've been using it for more than two years (starting with the Droid); it's the most customizable RSS reader I've seen, and it syncs with Google Reader.
I would use the official Google app if it wasn't lacking features, like a dark theme, title font options, or certain sorting features -- without needing a browser.

I have been using this since the Windows Mobile Days it not only will do RSS but Podcasts.
Google Reader is a very good free alternative too.
+1 for gReader
just in case anyone is wondering, Google Reader is DIFFERENT from gReader
I'm a bigger fan of gReader. My friend introduced me to it a while ago and have been using it ever since. Syncs perfectly with my RSS feeds, can do offline reading, and resizes pictures from the article to fit the screen nicely.
Give it a try

+1 for gReader. Also note that the paid version has a "dark" theme option which is better on the battery for the AMOLED screen.
I just tried Google Reader after all the recommendations on this thread (I use NewsRob in general) and I have to say that I'm surprised so many of you actually like it. It seems really jittery when scrolling through the listing of articles. I'm surprised that an app made by Google has such bad UI performance.
NewsRob is really really smooth. I'll go try gReader now.
Edit - gReader is also jittery when scrolling through the article list. I think the apps need to be updated for ICS. Newsrob is a lot smoother, and I know that the GN and ICS is capable of butter smooth scrolling.
I paid for Feedr and NewsRob, but got tired of them quickly. Been using gReader for a while now, and love it.
Nobody here uses Feedly? It has a few bugs, but the presentation of articles is nice - it syncs with Google Reader, so all your feeds are there

Any Zooper users here?
Very cool widget app - I like it much more than the Make Your Clock app.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't resize any of the widgets on the N7, and therefore, everything is too small. I've written the Dev, posted on his blog, and maybe I'll hear about a fix/procedure for this.
I figured I'd ask here, in the event that someone here has resolved this issue.
Shout back if you have this app running right on your N7.
Thanks!
Just got a response from the Dev. He informed me that the very cool templates provided in his app need to be manually reconfigured (sized-up) to be useful on an N7 - at least useful for me.
This is a great app with some EXCELLENT templates. I already own "Make Your Clock" app, so if I wanted to spend (too much) time designing/re-configuring widget elements, I can do that now. IMO, the available templates are what sets this app apart from the rest - but they really don't work on the N7.
I'm using Zooper pro, never noticed something like this, maybe because i dont use any of the templates.
createt all widgets myself. and yes, this app is pretty good.
Yup - it's the templates that I was hoping to use.
Otherwise, the app looks good, but I already have an app that, feature-for-feature, is about the same.
I was just hoping to plug/play using Zooper templates.
The Dev has been very responsive - thumbs up on that front.

I use Zooper. I was having trouble resizing widgets, too, and found that when I went into the edit screen and clicked on layout, then backed out of the app, it reconfigured to the size I wanted.

Good info to know. Thanks! I only witnessed very minor resizing behavior - maybe I need to ininstall and try again.
Question for you: Can you actually make any of the templates as large as you want? For instance, can you take the vertical month template (the one with all of the days of the month on the vertical axis) and enlarge it in the manner you suggest to be as tall as our N7 screen? Not that I would want that, but I am curious to know if the resizing you've done has been minor, or more significant.
I found a number of the templates to be very close to what I want. But my resizing efforts never got the text to be anything other than "really tiny".
I look forward to your response.

The best that the app did for me was to resize a very tiny widget up to the size of a tiny widget.
You can just grab the object handles and make widget templates as large as you want?
If so, there must be some environment variable that is somehow different for you.
Is your N7 unlocked/rooted or locked/non-rooted?
I resize the widgets by pretending you are about to move them by picking them up but not moving to another grid on the screen. After you let the widget fall back to its original space you get the resize option for widgets. After the change of the widget size the app refreshes itself and you good to go

I resize the widgets by pretending you are about to move them by picking them up but not moving to another grid on the screen. After you let the widget fall back to its original space you get the resize option for widgets. After the change of the widget size the app refreshes itself and you good to go

Yep - that's the standard object handles behaviour, and it's not what I saw. When I did the same thing, I could drag out a new perimeter size for the widget, but nothing inside the widget would resize.
I took the Dev's "general" recommendation (for most devices) to follow this by going into the widget config page directly after resizing, and once you return, BAM, the widget contents would be resized.
Not in my case. And not in the experiences of many other Zooper/N7 users - evidenced by plenty of complaints of the lack of resize functionality.
The Dev himself says it doesn't work on the N7, so if it's working for you, you are standing in the golden shaft of Android light from above.
BTW: I found the Dev to be extremely helpful and responsive in my interactions with him.
I put on the Zooper Widget in any size then select a layout. Hit okay if it tells you it won't fit. Then hit the back button out of the editor until you're back at your home screen. Then resize it to what you want the way you would any widget. Tap on it to edit it and input what you want it to look like. Then back out of the editor back to the home screen. It will fit the template to your size.
At least that's my experience.
Here is a screen shot of my N7. My calendar on the side actually stands the whole height of my screen. The clock is a separate widget. I have my launcher set to allow overlap of widgets. (For the record, I use Holo Launcher.)

Interesting! Maybe I'll have to reinstall and try again using your specific method.
The Dev, Frenzy, refunded my purchase, and in a subsequent email, he sent me the APK so that I could continue to play with it.
Per jessicahll's instructions, it works perfectly! What an awesome app. I just designed a simple home screen with a great look and needed utility.
Thanks to the Dev and jessicahll!
I love zooper, this is my current zooper set up. Have had it for awhile, gotta play around and find something new and elegant

The list you're about to see is what i find makes my android reach its full potential which makes it use most, if not all of its features. I'm not trying to make it into those kinds of threads where you see a bunch of useless apps and youre like "meh" but i wanted to start my own thread and share what i find the most useful apps on my android. Some of these have a pro version to them but the free version are just as good! ENJOY!
I take no responsibility towards anything that may happen to your phone by flashing. I am merely providing links to guide you in the right direction.

PlayStore Applications
Kii Keyboard - This is by far the best and fastest keyboard app I've tried on my phone.
PVSTAR+ - This is a must have all-in-one video app that combines Youtube, Dailymotion, etc. You can create a video playlist to view your videos in offline mode! and can also play videos while your phone is locked and you can also play videos in the background.
Rom Toolbox Lite - All-in-One App that combines all these monster fearures such as installing roms, themes, creating & restoring backups. ETC. Literally comes with everything god dammit! Pro version for full features.
Pimp My Rom - This is great new app that comes with a wide range of tweaks, mods, app and features to improve your rom. Whether its a stock or AOSP rom it helps you find the right tweaks to pimp your phone and make it the way its supposed to be!
Smart Applock - You can lock any application by either putting a numerical lock or pattern lock.
Omich player - Really good music application.
StreamComplete - Stream It All - Lets you stream movies and tv shows of up to 20,000+ selections from various sites without having to click on the site individually. Favorite streaming app.
Cinemagram - If you were waiting for this app, here it is :good:
Greenify *ROOT* - This is a great app that helps you identify those applications that are running in your backround and put them into hibernation (does not close the app) must have application that actually saves battery and increases performance.
Youmail Visual Voicemail - Lets you see the name, number, location, and other info from the person that sent you a voice mail, and gives you a notification whenever you get a voicemail included their name and number. Plus many other customization's!
SwipePad - I personally always download this on my phone! its the best multitasking app in my opinion. You just pick a side of the screen you want to swipe and BAM you have a list of apps, shortcuts, contacts ETC. (compatible with all launchers that I'm aware of)
Location Spoofer - Lets you fool an application into thinking you're in a different location. ( Great app for watching those videos that are only allowed in certain countries etc.)

GooManager - Makes downloading and flashing roms so much easier.
Dolphin Browser - Fastest browser I've used.
Livescore - Great app for detailed sport information.
Zedge - great wallpaper and ringtones app!
Heywire Free Texting - Self explanatory and so simple.
Xda App - Love this app.

Good to know i helped. I'm trying to make it into a thread where people can come and get exactly what they're looking for to make their phones more enjoyable.
UPDATE:
Added some Galaxy S4 Add-ons (Wallpaper, S-Voice)
Note 2 Keyboard
APPS:
Pimp My Rom, Zedge, StreamComplete.
I reset my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T700 v6.0.1 and am having trouble getting my backed up data to be recognized in Kii. The folder is visible in my file manager, but not when I attempt to restore from within the app.
This has never been a problem when I've moved to a new device.
Can you offer a suggestion?
