Main screen - Launcher: Go Launcher, Background - WP Clock, Weather - Fancy Widget Pro, Switches - Widgetsoid
Secondary screen - Folders: Application Folder
Tertiary screen - Calendar: Simple Calendar Widget
Note: Fixed images!
I don't use the black background cuz I like it, it's because WP clock does not properly work on the Nitro. When using WP Clock with a background image, the image will not fill the whole screen, but leaves this little space at the bottom about half the height of the dock, so it looks somewhat funny. WP clock said they are working on a new version of WP clock, which is optimized for HD screens.

Even better haha

Ok, I've got nothing to "flaunt", but I am finally happy with my lockscreen =) For whatever reason, I felt compelled to tinker with the lock screen a bit, so I'm sharing what I did-
I use the lock pattern, but I hate the dots, hate the carrier, hate the line separating the time and the dots, and hate the emergency call button. Ugly... So I changed them all =)
Changed PNGs to transparent dots
Removed carrier in lock screen (as well as notification bar from before) - XML edit
Made the separator line super faint (turns out I like a tiny bit of line =) ) - PNG swap
Removed emergency call button so it only appears after failed pattern unlock - XML edit
I know where the dots are, so I just have them appear only when pressed (but even then, I made them more transparent)
Now I'm happy =)

looks pretty schnazzy in here!

At least I think its pretty.

No screen shots to provide but I have tried a few combinations of having different widgets but found it slows down the phone enough for me to notice lag. For example, once I add a full calendar widget to one of the home screen the switch between screens becomes laggy. Does that happen with you guys too?

What launcher are you using? It really depends on the launcher. And have you done a hard reset on your phone after rooting? Doing a hard reset significantly improve the smoothness of the phone.

I'm using Go Launcher. Tried out LauncherPro but it wasn't as smooth. I have done a hard reset as well after rooting. I noticed the biggest difference after freezing some apps. Still, if I add a large calendar widget there is a noticeable lag. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

I'm using the go launcher too & the cal I'm using is the pure calendar widget (seen in mypost on page 1), it seems to run smooth for me on screen transitions and such. Maybe that might work, if ya haven't tried it.

Mos Def. I just wish their app drawer can be much smoother. One thing I like about Launcher Pro was how smooth the transitioning is and scrolling.

Hey, guys!
I'm looking for a native function to take screenshots (it appears in system/app), but I can't find the right combo for that.

It seems Zeam Launcher is getting quite the follower now might have to give it a try too.

I tried zeam, but (and I know this is messed up) I liked the bloat of Go Launcher. I like Go Widgets too much and Go Locker.

[Q] HTC Weather and Clock Widget

I am new to XDA and people have probably asked this already, but I was wondering if there was any way (other than rooting and flashing HTC sense) to get the Clock and weather widget with animations. I am using fancy widget right now, but I wanted to know if there was any way I could get the actual sense widget or something very very close to it.
You have to have a Sense based OS/ROM installed on your phone to utilize the Sense clock/weather widget. If you don't have that, the closest thing to it is Fancy Widgets or Beautiful Widgets (which I use & screenshot below).

If you want the exact clock you will have to do a google search for the older version of fancy widget 1.3.0
Then to get the weather animations you'll need to purchase beautiful widgets and configure it to show the animations everytime you unlock the phone like sense does.
Back when I wanted this look, that was exactly what I did and it worked perfect for me.

only reason it's smaller is because I have my lcd_density at 200 instead of the default 240.
So anyone who tells you that you can't have the Sense looking "Weather&Toggle Widget" does not know what they speak of...
When I download beautiful widgets, don't I have to have the widget on the screen to use the animation?

The way i was able to get it to work was by trying to place a widget on a screen where there wouldn't be enough room for a large widget. It was able to get me in the settings to enable the animations so it still worked even though there wasn't a widget present.
if you are cyanogen mod, or any NON SENSE based rom, you cant get it back. thats only to sense. i have been using beautiful widgets for quite sometime and i am not disapointed. once you download it, go into the app, and then into advanced settings. the animations are not as neat as sense, but they still work pretty well.
Fancy Widget on the Android Market is the best.
I guess no one was paying attention to my post about weather and toggle widget. SAME EXACT WIDGET but the animations are a little different.

Which skin is that for Weather & Toggle Widget?
I ended up using Weather & Toggle Widget's animation because I couldn't get Beautiful Widgets with my credit card. The animations are a little different but it's a lot better than just plain. Thanks
He,
I am also looking for the HTC Sense Clock + Animation in transparent (I got HTC Sense installed but it is only the normal grey/black clock, no transparent option). I saw that "Weather & Toggle Widget" can do it but it costs some money. Any free version or alternative available? I guess not or?

I'm not even sure if you want the animation. I've used it for a couple days and I can see that it's getting a little annoying. Beautiful Widgets and Weather &Toggle are the only ones that im aware of that have animation. The Weather & Toggle is good and has HTC-like animations. For example today it is raining and I got the windshield wiper animation. My friends thought it was sense. If you want just the clock I would definitely recommend Fancy Widget v.1.30. It looks perfect. Sorry if this isn't much help

Thanks for the reply. The animation always looks quite nice to me (at least the HTC Sense one) but the thing is that I got a more "white" themed homescreen now and the black HTC Clock Widget does not really fit into it. But ok nvm if there is no free version. I also got no access to payed apps in the country over here .

Even though I no longer use these, I just want to clarify for everyone else. Those animations you're talking about, are you sure they are weather & toggle? You wouldn't perhaps still have beautiful widgets installed would you? I know that before, it was beautiful widgets with the animation, even with the widget not being used. So long as I'd used the widget once, even if I took it off of the screen, the animation would still play. Had me fooled into thinking it was weather & toggle. Easiest way to check is to uninstall beautiful widgets, if it's installed. If it isn't, that's news to me, and cool for everyone else.
Also, setting lcd density to anything other than 240 or 160 results in no animations for me. I never fully gave 200-240 a shot though honestly, as I use 195 personally
Weather and toggle definitely has animations. I never actually installed beautiful widgets so I don't know what their animations are like. For Weather and toggle, I didn't even need an actual widget. There was a free addon I installed for the animations. I'll post a screen shot after baseball.

A novice question, is this launcher gpu accelerated? Or it's relying on the force gpu option?
Wow excellent launcher! Nice work and thanks!
Just wondering if you could add the option to have the persistent google search thingy... I kind of got used to it.
Also the ability to stick your folders into the app drawer would be nice as well.

Would it be possible to fit the market shortcut back into the app draw? maybe near the settings icon? I kinda liked that, and used it all the time.
Nice! I like where this is heading. I would love too see the ability to choose how many home screens to have, and the ability to create folders in the app drawer (10p sale has filled it right up!)
There's a problem with the icons, whatever I changed it wont register and it restored back to default every reboot. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I've tested it few times already.

Some bugs
First of all thanks for this great mod, I think it has great potential.
After setting up my Homescreens I found some bugs.
1. If I disable wallpaper scrolling after some time the wallpaper isn´t anymore centered.
2. After a reboot, there are some widgets disappeared from the Homescreens. After readding the widgets, this happens again after a reboot.
3. One time happend (after switching from market back to homescreen) that the searchbar widget comes back on top of my homescreens and it overlaps it with my widgets.
If I find another bugs, I will report them again.
Thanks again and keep working on it!
Edit: The issue under 2 appears when u add the widgets the 'old way' by long-pressing on home screen. If u add them through the app drawer they are still there after a reboot.

Great launcher but I've got a couple of suggestions:
Although everyone seemed to hate the search bar at the top I'd kinda got used to it and now miss it so an option to keep it there would be great.
How about having a homescreen Scroll effect the same as the one in the app drawer?
Other than that keep up the good work!

Agreed, miss my search bar
Excellent, I've been looking for something that would essentially just remove the search bar
However 2 things would be great
1) An option to set the number of home screens
2) For some reason I can't use Desktop Visualiser to replace the stock icons at the bottom. On the ICS launcher I can choose "Desktop VisulizR" to add a custom shortcut, small enough to replace Phone, Contacts etc. But for some reason this widget doesn't show in Nova launcher.
Great work, looking forward to full release.

Applications & Widgets for the Galaxy Nexus (What's Your Favorite?)

I've decided to start this thread because like others I'm always looking for new Applications & Widgets for my device. With the massive amount of Application releases each day it's quite time consuming to constantly keep up to date let alone test out each of these.
With that said, what are some Applications / Widgets you simply cannot live without? Those that look good on the homescreen / lockscreen / etc.
If you'd like to include a screenshot with your post as well that'd be great, let's build a good list for people who aren't familiar with all the Applications the Android Market has to offer!
--
With that said I'd have to put Poweramp in the list, it's simply the best Application for music with a ton of options.

(Currently on sale in the market this weekend for $1.99 as opposed to the $4.99 normal price tag)
Hmm... I'd have to say mClock for the aesthetics and simple calendar widget for functionality and aesthetics. And Android pro Widgets rule too...

Quite simple really...
1.) Just download the image you want to look up.
2.) Edit that image to crop out unnecessary details.
3.) Upload that image to Google Image Search.
4.) Profit.

Sure. Here you go. I edited the Mario one so that there is more black space to align with homescreens properly. Added an extra one for fun. These images aren't mine... I found these on the "post your homescreen thread" here at XDA.
Just started using WidgetLocker these past few days, seems it's transitioned into more of a stable application for the Nexus. I'm having no noticeable lag at this time.
WidgetLocker Lockscreen

My must-have apps/widgets would be:
BeWeather Pro - very nice weather app with an assortment of widget sizes that can be skinned via BeWeather skins OR Beautiful Widget skins.
PlayerPro - Music app that I absolutely love. Has a fantastic GUI, great sound quality and the dev is very responsive. I've tried just about every music app out there and this is one fits my musical needs best.
XiiaLive - Awesome internet radio station app that plays Shoutcast stations. Use this to blast my internet dance radio stations through my car stereo while having my Gnex paired to it via Bluetooth).
Equalizer (by Smart Android Apps) - Great EQ app that I use to have equalized sound in the various music apps on my phone (PlayerPro, Google Music, XiiaLive, Digitally Imported, etc.).
CarHome Ultra - Fantastic app that takes care of the problem of Samsung taking forever-and-a-day to release their stupid official car dock for the Gnex by having the option to automatically put my phone in car mode when my phone connects to my car stereo over Bluetooth. Love this app!
gReader Pro - Best RSS reader I've found that can access Google Reader feeds. Again, tried many, many various RSS apps out there and this one stomps them all (for my needs anyway).
Nova Launcher - Takes the native ICS launcher and kicks it up a notch with some very nice extra features. Kinda funny/sad that it does a better job with controlling lag when using the stock ICS Live Wallpapers than Google's own native launcher.
Pure Calendar - Skinnable widget that can pull my Google Calendar and Touchdown Exchange calendar data together and display them all very nicely in a scrollable widget. The dev of the "Pure" series of apps/widgets really does a great job with all of the apps in this line.
iSyncr - Fantastic app that allows me to sync my iTunes-based playlists on my iMac to my Gnex. Also has a companion app to do the syncing wirelessly.
Google Voice - For all the options it gives to deal with voicemail messages, spam calls/texts, not to mention free texting! Been using this since it became available and I think I'd pretty much die without it now. haha
WiFi File Explorer Pro - Handy app that allows me to access my phone from my computer over my home wifi network.
----------------------
Sorry if this list it a bit long but these are all the apps I use regularly and would dearly miss if they were to go away.

Hey man I tried sending you a message but apparently XDA is real screwy and need to get some bugs fixed. anyway...I was wondering how you got the mclock widget to resize to fit the nexus' screen. I used the .xml file from Red X but he made the width 420 so it shows up really small on the nexus screen. If you could let me know how to resize it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm proud to present the Evangelion SH06D-NERV Theme. Made especially to run smooth on our ace.
This will of course work on other devices but some widgets are scaled to match our screen specifically.

If you saw my previous thread about discontinuing this project, that was just an excuse to get some peace
and to work on my own pace! (http://goo.gl/lYiYu)
There are a lot of steps so I'm gonna try to keep this tutorial short and simple.
One of the solution was by making a video tutorial on how to setup the widgets,
you will still have to keep on reading since the video tutorial doesn't cover all the areas.
Keep in mind that one of the apps (ADW Launcher Ex) used here is a paid app.
(Which is why I didnt made this into a rom instead)
*note* this works just as well on holo launcher (if you have overlap enabled, don't remember if it's only available on the pro verions).
Lockscreen and Widgets:
The lockscreen is animated and interactive, the same goes for most of the widgets as well.
You're able to customize what app the widget should load up by adding a "hotspot" in UCCW.
Right now the widgets are set to:
Clock: Tapping the digits will start "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free"
Calendar: the same goes for the upper part of the calendar (UNIT ALERT!). If you activated a alarm time it will be shown under "UNIT ALERT!". Tapping the date area will bring you to the native calendar app.
SD CARD: Brings you to Samsungs "Task Manager"
Battery: none set
User phone no: none set
Weather: tapping the lower part of the widget brings you to the native CM7 "News and Weather" app.
CPU: The CPU widget actually shows the current battery, temperature and week of the year. Tapping it will open up the SetCPU app.
Volume bars: Send you to the app where you're able to change the volume. Try putting the volume down using the volume rockers and see the bars move.
Tutorial:
1. Download all the zip files down below and install the APKs from
the "APK_Modified_NBT". The Wifi Toggle widget is optional.
2. Import all the widgets themes from "UCCW_THEMES" folder to UCCW,
press the setting buttons for more options.
Open up Minimalistic Text and import the respective theme, "SD.STORAGE".
2.5. I added the Google Search Bar as a UCCW theme, download it from the second post and import it as well.
(skip this step)
3. And the reason why we're going to apply the CM7 Theme "MIUI4_NBT" afterwards
is because of the bug that it brings us. You're unable to read the folder names in UCCW after applying
the MIUI4 Theme. Apply the CM7 theme by opening the theme app and chose "Apply" -> "Apply anyway".
(CM9 Users: Link)
4.ADW Launcher Ex settings:
Use 4x4 grid on your launcher. UI settings -> Screen preference -> Desktop Columns/Rows (set to 4 on both).
On the same page, disable "Show desktop indicator", enable "overlap widgets"
Change your dock, Themes Preference -> Main dock (choose).
Reflections, UI settings-> Main dock -> Enable Dock (it should be on), on the same page, Reflections (on)
Transistion, General Behavior -> Animation effect -> Screen transition effect -> Zoom.
On the same page Desktop scrolling speed 200<450, desktop bounce 0
Wallpaper scrollning should be on (disable if you experience lagg when swiping through pages).
5. Follow the video instructions that put I together:
http://youtu.be/EvuBHD49qw4
6. Open up MiLocker and apply the theme "NERV_ONLY_NBT"
I put another alternative if you have Widgetlocker, it's more lightweight and smoother.
7. Show your appreciation by giving feed back!

Tips/review:
If you for some reason find it slow, try disable the wallpaper scrolling, using governors (smartassv2 in general).
If that doesn't work try using a RAM script, eg. v6 Supercharger.
Galaxy Ace users can also read this.
You should be able to use this theme without any lagg, post in this thread to seek solutions.

I think it is because UCCW has no anti-aliasing option
I'm doing all of this as we speak on my OV One question though, what font are you using in the screenshots?
EDIT: AudioManager was causing MAJOR lag on my phone, is that normal? If so, is there another way to use a similar volume app/skin for the volume widget?

The widget is pretty light itself, so i wonder why the lagg? Does it at least look good when scaled on your screen? I could make a widget using tokaplot instead, but you're gonna get this kind of graphic, i will remove the text and make it look cleaner than the screenshots found on the play store.
The font your probably refering to is "bebas_neue". You will easily find it with a google search.
There is like 3 other font used as well x)

Memnoc's home screens set up [UCCW] [Zooper Widgets] Galaxy Nexus full support

Since I develop these themes on my Gnexus, I thiught it would be appropriate to post them here as well, where it's easier for you, gnexus owners, to apply all the skins. Enjoy
Hi everyone, I finally decided to share my work. I thought a lot about to put these as paid skins/widgets, but I finally decided to share them for free, because I feel very bounded to open source philosophy, and because this way I can pay back all the people that, as me, share their work for free. Nothing against paid works, they all deserve to be paid, the amount of time I spent on any of these set up it's sometimes just absurd, and yes I'd like to gain some money for that, but I prefer to let the users decide wether or not give a free donation, as I always did. No more words, just enjoy my themes, I hope you like them:good:

Thanks and Credits
I don't often use other themers/developers stuff, but when I do it, I always like to credit them. Ideas, inspiration are something that comes for free, but still they are the basics to realize anything creative. So I will give a general big thanks to all of the following, wonderful people.
@BRKotucs, for the help, and for being so friendly and helpful. Check his work out, it's just outstanding.
@SeriouslyCrazy, for letting me use his icon packs, for the infinite amount of set up he made, and to be so kind and friendly. His thread lies here.
@MyColorScreen, a place where I always find fresh ideas and a great deal of workarounds. You guys rock! Check it out!
Donations are welcome, you can donate clicking on my donate button or paypal logo in my signature. A beer it's too much, just feel free to offer me a coffe if you feel like it
I encourage advanced users to help newer ones, it would much appreciated.

Troubleshooting post
Tips and Tricks
We all know that apply those kind of themes can be a very PITA  By the way, there are some workarounds I learned, and I want to share them with you, because I know they will help you. I'll refer particularly to my themes, but sure they can be applied on any theme with the same situation.
Click to collapse
First: Wallpaper
I own a Galaxy Nexus (maguro), it means that I develop my themes on a 1280x720 screen resolution; as a consequence, the wallpapers I provide to you implie this resolution. What about if you own another device?
Well, there are basically two ways to fix this issue:
Click to collapse
First: for pro users
-take a screenshot of your device screen, it will give you a perfect wallpaper with your screen resolution
-open that screenshot on a image editor, Photoshop, Gimp, whatever.
-Now, open the wallpaper as a level (assume that we are dealing with a 1280x720) onto your screenshot, and resize it accordingly.
done
Second: any user
-Dwonload one of these two applications, or you find a simalr one, use that one, it doesn't really matter
Wallpaper Wizardrii
or
Image2Wallpaper
-the point of both of these two applications is exactly size a wallpaper with a different resolution than your device.
-resize the wall accordingly
done
Hot spots, and clickable but invisible spots
A nice trick I learned is how to make an hotspot invisible, but still clickable. Suppose that we have a skin with a part we want it clickable, app drawer for example, take Circle Skin as reference.
You see the red circled app drawer icon? Well, that's not an icon, it's part of the UCCW skin, it means it's a bitmap pasted onto UCCW skin. You can either make it as an hotspot through UCCW, this way:
-touch the skin
-UCCW editor will open (*if nothing happens, it means you locked the skin! Go to UCCW app, click the three dots in the upper right screen corner/Lock widgets (hotpsot mode) MUST BE OFF
-now, find the your images, that app drawer icon in our example, and assign it an hotspot
modify objects/hotpost/choose what you need
You can also use another trick, and it works this way:
-place the icon you want to open clicking that very specific part of the skin, we want to open the app drawer, so I will place a Nova shortcut to open the drawer.
-of course the icon it's just unappropriate, we want it clickable, but invisible.
-in order to achieve this goal, long press on the icon or the shortcut/edit/choose an image from your gallery/apply the png available below
download
-this is nothing more than an invisible.png I made through an image editor
-select this ong as your new icon image, and voilà, the icon it's still there, but now it's invisible:good:
*NOTE: make sure that once you did that, the icon, the clickable but invisible one, it's emphasized (put in to the foreground), otherwise the skin will overlap it and it won't be clickable!

Skins designed to match a wallpaper
It means, especially when it comes to me, that I often realize set up that involves a precise match between skins and wallpaper. This is a bit messy, especially when it comes to apply the skin on a different resolution device. What can you do? Well, my best advice is to play with grid size, and try to obtain a wallpaper the closest possible to the screenshot I provide you as a reference. Also, make sure to hide the parts I tell you, because if I developed the skin hiding my navbar, if you try to apply that very skin with your navbar visible, all the skins will make a step up, and the mismatch between skin and wallpaper will result hugely visible.
Last advice: yes, I know UCCW and ZW are scary for non expert users, at least the first time, but guys, I left you the skin fully editable, I didn't lock any of the elements, it means that with a bit of work you're virtually able to adapt my themes to WHATEVER resolution/device/situation. That's up to you, I can help by the way:good:
