[Q] Stock ICS launcher on Calk's FB 27 beta 2 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Can someone provide me with a stock ICS touchwiz launcher zip to replace the modified touchwiz launcher in Calk's FB27 beta 2? I tried to replace the modified one with the stock one and it didn't work. I'm not good with adb.
Thanks

Why not just flash the stock rooted ROM?

Because Calk's rom includes modifications and tweaks, so that would not work for me.

Thanks dude. That totally worked. I can't believe I didn't think about that solution. Pretty simple. Now I got my 4x4 drawer. Yay

Is he still polluting his awesome roms with 5x5 nonsense?
No accounting for taste, I suppose.

LOL, I guess it's a matter of preference. I prefer a less cluttered look of 4x4.
Mods, you can close this thread. Thanks

I did this mod for a theme and I think its just the android.policy jar file that got modded. Give me a minute and I'll post a .zip for stock and modded that should let you add it.
vanilla lockscreen mod
stock lockscreen restore
use clockwork recovery to flash these. this should work on any de-odexed rom or theme for that matter. first boot will take longer than normal

Works fine for me on Andromeda.
awesome. thx guise!!

Is it possible to flash these over the stock ROM? I'm rooted and have Clockwork, all I want to do is have the AOSP lockscreen with the stock ROM.

2.2 Music app

i want to use root explorer to copy paste the apk to they system/app folder. i have the apk but not the odex file to go with it. so it keeps force closing. if any one has an installable apk or the apk and odex files it would be greatly appreciated if you could post them for me. thanks.
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861341&highlight=dk28 is a stock DK28 (2.2) ROM which is odexed. you should be able to pull both the apk and odex from /system/app in that. good luck

You can't flash themes on an odexed ROM. someone has to make the theme on a deodexed rom, then convert it into and odexed form.
this is what i understand. I must sound like a broken record, but you can take the images out of your theme of choice and install them in your Odex ROM (stock ROM for example) and have an odexed ROM themed to your liking. Its called Ninjamorph.

So I'm guessing I would use root explorer and extract the file? Are there and instructions for this. Like what files are what.
Tapatalkin' it from my Epic 3g Touch
do a search for "theming with Ninjamorph. All you basically do is drag and drop files into a folder and ninjamorph does the rest.

First custom rom

I have a question.
But first I want to say thanks to: dsixda For making the Kitchen, Stryke_the_Orc , bilgerryan , and tdunham, For answering my questions when Google couldn't. and also kobridge for his hard work and contributions to our community as well. Almost forgot to mention tdunham's VERRY COOL!!! AIO mod-----> forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149900.
Thanks to you guys I have Deodexed, modified, and successfully flashed my first custom rom.
My question for anyone who knows whould be how can I replace the stock touchwiz launcher with Nova launcher bfor building my working folder in to working rom? If I install Nova then uninstall touchwiz after the flash I don't have any trouble. but when I try to replace touchwiz with nova be for I compile/build the rom from my working folder. Nova fails to properly install/launch after boot up. it FC's at the desktop and does not restart. leaving me with an inoperable rom.
Any one?

All the custom ROMs I have made have been for other devices. On them I just deleted the stock launcher and copied in the one I wanted into /system/app. I have never done it on a TW ROM though. Might want to find a ROM that does it, then download it and see how THEY did it
Most I have learned about ROM structure has been learned that way.

Thank you for your input. Yes I originally removed the touchwiz launcher from system/app and replaced it with the Nova launcher before building the rom and flashing it. All of the other apk's I added to the phone during the build process installed during the flash and operate just fine. Nova however FC's as soon as I finish the initial setup and reach the home screen. When I leave TW installed, then download nova from the market. it works just fine. even after I freeze and uninstall TW.
Maybe I should have posted in the Kitchen thread. I didn't because he has stated in his op that he no longer officially supports the kitchen. So I thought I would not bother him with my problems. Maybe a moderator could move this to the kitchen thread please? Thank you in advance.

Actually, you can do this outside of kitchen. Use 7zip to drag your new launcher into the zip archive under /system/app you'll also need any lib files associated with the launcher. You can get these (if there are any) using root explorer after installing the launcher on what you're running. Just copy them to your sd card and transfer to PC, then drag them into /system/lib folder
You're good to go after that:thumbup::beer:
