I am planning to buy bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my Note. My first instinct was to buy Apple keyboard but after browsing around I realized Android keys on the keyboard are going to be very helpful. I finally settled with this keyboard http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/8232 but it is designed for 3.0+. In S2 forum, I saw one guy had to flash specific custom ROM/kernel to get it working. Anyone paired this keyboard with Note? I don't want to wait until ICS (given that this keyboard needs 3.0+) nor want to fiddle around installing different ROMs.
(something strange happened and I lost all the text and URLs I searched and collected in my previous post though 'Submit New Thread' button click appeared to work as it should)
I've used it, works fine including the shortcut keys.

I finally had a ROM and config I was really happy with, and as of this morning the onscreen keyboard seems locked in a numeric mode. There seems to be no way to get it back to qwerty. I tried switching languages and keyboards and everything I can think of. My onscreen keyboard is gone. It's just numeric and useless. What obvious thing am I missing? This happened once before when it locked itself in the web keyboard (no spacebar) but that went away after a reboot. This time it's locked. I tried a LOT before posting here.
EDIT: I don't seem to be able to delete this message, but maybe it'll be handy in the search for others looking. I searched on THIS forum before I posted, but then I was smart and searched ALL forums. I feel stupid for not thinking of that sooner. Sorry sysadmins. My bad.
I re-installed my keyboard software that uses the old style auto-correction (not T9) and it solved it.

looking at the above right now, but the review are very mixed!
I know about the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard but I hate Apple and don't really want to give them money. (stupid, I know.) if it really is the best let me know, but otherwise I'd like to hear what other people have chosen.
thanks!
Dang, I'd love to get this, but yeah, the whole "keys are wearing out" thing is scaring me away.
You know, I hope, that only the Freedom keyboard and some software will work on the Evo with the exception of if you're running CM6 rom.
By default, HTC doesn't support the HID profile on the evo.

yeah I'm on CM6
Cool. I ran CM6 for awhile and used my stowaway BT foldable. Worked great, even connected a full size BT keyboard and it worked.

I purchased this keyboard for my Evo.

The keyboard includes a psp joystick like mouse on it. I figured a bluetooth keyboard with a built in mouse would be perfect for CM6. However bluetooth mice don't recognize when the phone is in landscape mode so it things up is left, down is right, etc. Also the keyboard disconnects like every 15 minutes and its really annoying.
Just a warning, if you're using CM6 there are some issues with landscape mode. If you're like me and you love the kickstand you'll put the phone in landscape mode. In landscape mode if you press the up arrow the cursor goes left, down is right, right is up, left is down. These issues have been existent since the release of CM6 and I doubt they'll be fixed soon since nobody talks about them.
You can buy apps that will let you connect to a bluetooth keyboard on any rom that will not have these weird arrow issues in landscape mode.

that thing looks pretty awesome. Do you think the disconnecting issue is because of the keyboard or because of the bluetooth software on the phone / rom?
I definitely wanna get one of these types of keyboards.

Got a link to some of those apps that allow you to connect a bluetooth keyboard?

because there is no sprint or senser it is so hard from where its water proof i guess it took me 5 mins to type one word because you would start typin and look and there would be nothin or maybe one letter i actully have it still in my room collecting dust
Hi, I am using an HTC Droid Incredible with the Skyraider 4.0 Rom with HTC Sense. I know that HTC and Samsung Galaxy S devices are known for their notorious yet annoying, inconvenient, evil, ****ty bluetooth in their stock roms. The main reason why I'm keeping a Sense rom is because of the tv out cable (yay Netflix on the big screen!). I was on CM7 before, which I loved, except for the occasional reboot and the inability to use my tv out cable. I think since I can tether my phone to my laptop and I can get an HDMI cable, it probably won't be a big a deal, but its still nice to have to be able to see your phone scree on the tv screen, especially for gaming. But I'm more impressed with playing these games on the go with both my phone and my gamepad, which so far I had to take apart to get the D-pad working. I still have to get one more button working Not happy that they were careless since I forked over close to 100 dollars, which included shipping.
But onto the point. I tried upgrading my firmware on the unit, but it didn't show the part where it showed to put in the "1234" pin, but did everything else and it looked like it said it was updated. Even before then I was connected to Bluez IME before updating the firmware (supposedly). I was able to type out with the buttons, excluding the few that weren't working and I even configured it with the key mapping in SNesoid, but for God forsaken reason, it didn't do anything when I pushed the buttons. This is really weird and its making me mad I was looking forward to a better experience than this and it's frustrating. I just want to know if there's any solution at all, anything before flashing the CM7 backup again. If there's anyone out there with a problem like this with this phone or similar, I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much.
By the way, I did post on the Pandora forums, but no one responded, not even Craigix or any of the other moderators so this is my only hope right now.
I'm having a similar problem with my SGT(p1010). BlueZ will say connecting in the notifications tray, and then the icp will time out and I get Error: failed to connect to socket. Any ideas anyone?
I believe in the booklet with the iControlPad says the way to do it is to hold Y down and then press and hold start along with Y. Make sure you updated the firmware too before you do anything. I'm loving my iControlPad. I don't have to sacrifice Sense and I can do all my old school gaming on my TV screen thanks to the TV out cable

It's annoying me that it vibrates on every keypress and it seems like it is not needed with how fast this thing is. It's just a personal dislike so if anyone can tell me how to change this I would appreciate it.
-- Well I found it under input settings. I just got the phone last night so I will probably be going wild all day today.
Ok now I want to bind a star trek sound to the keypress when typing... LOL
Also I really enjoyed my previous Droid Incredible keyboard. Has there been any work on a keyboard port to the Galaxy Nexus? I know the new one is improved on ICS but I still really enjoyed that keyboard.
Thanks.
keyboard ports are kinda rare nowadays, most people just go with one of the third party keyboards on the market.
as far as the sounds, that actually is possible, but requires root since you'll have to manually change the keypress sound.
So here is my problem. Recently I upgraded from 4.1.3 to 4.3. I noticed that the Samsung keyboard now no longer seems to learn new words. Whenever I try to swipe "s#!t" or "[email protected]#$", or even a more modest word like suck, I can't use swipe. It never gives me such options. I can still type them letter by letter, but that's v slow and annoying. The Old keyboard learned the words. The new one doesn't, unless I don't know how, in which case please tell me.
Tapping the new word or clicking arrows doesn't seem to do anything.
Bump...
[SOLUTION for 4.3 Keyboard learning new words]
Found the solution by chance.
So I went into the settings once more, and I saw that auto replacement was switched off. So I switched this on and tried words that it didn't remember previously. And now it suddenly remembers the words! The more you use the words the better it seems to be able to predict them.
Happy camper!
