I just got a letter terminating me from sprint for roaming. I'm not going to lie at first I wanted this and roamed a lot, that was the first two months into my contract. Now I love my phone and coverage is better but I just got kicked. I'm so upset but I guess I asked for this. I have until April 4 to change. I'm going to miss this phone. If I flash it to metro can I still use custom roms?

you could still flash custom roms no matter if you put it on metro or boost cricket or even virgin mobile

Why? Sprint not cutting it for you?
If its any consolation the epic touch has great resale value. Maybe sell it and get the note with crappy at&t or galaxy nexus on Verizon. I'm currently using mine on Cricket and it fits my needs. Thinking of going with sprint once lte is available in my area.

Speeds are declining fast for me. Youtube vids buffer every 10 seconds for 30 seconds. I still have over a year on contract so I may exercise my "right" to get out of it
Thinking about it a little more, I just may want a new phone and sprint doesn't have any announced right now. I usually get a new phone every 6 months or so.... That Note is calling my name

I was looking at that note its so big. though. I think I'll use my phone on boost or what's the best signal carrier I can use it on

If were going to consider any new device that's coming soon (which I'm not), it would be the HTC One-X. The Note is too big for me. The form factor of the E4GT is my limit.
Haha I would love the note on sprint or my future is probably verizon since i want to move to the middle of nowhere. My max form factor is 8 inches. Steve Jobs could have started a clothing line dedicated to "Hummer" phones and made another billion instead of whining that no one would buy one.

Do you still have to pay the early termination fee? If not I'm thinking about doing that..just to break contract with sprint. I'm thing the GS3 is coming to att and plus it support LTE unlike sprint only have two phone that will be coming out which support.

I'm curious if Sprint is going to let you migrate that number over to Boost (Sprint owns Boost).
Also, I also wonder if you can get the E4GT over on Boost without doing some, how shall I say, questionable tatics.
OK, while most people probably won't look at this I figured I'd link it anyhow.

If you call retentions, more than likely they'll take care of you. If you're out of contract retentions entire job is to keep you from leaving. The way they could handle this situation is more or less set it up in the system as if you were going to cancel, but locked into another contract... more or less, as if you had cancelled, then signed up as a new customer. In fact, that might be how they'd do it.
Give them a call and try.

Rethink that. Sprints version of the galaxy nexus is not supported by Google. The sprint version is code named the toroplus, look it up. Good development community though

I'm not sure that device is any better than what we have now, in fact it might be worse.
I know ICS runs better on it. Smoother In my opinion. My wife has one. I talked to Samsung this morning and according to them Sprint is hustling Epic owners about a bug fix update. The Samsung Supervisor even said it was never recommended that Sprint push the update. She said no update is in the works for this model. The funny thing about it is Samsung says there call lines are flooded with Epic owners having issues and Sprint tells me there are not any problems and I need to take out insurance. That will be a cold day in Hell!

Yeah source is lacking. I've followed all the rumors and at&t and Verizon have been pretty quiet in the rumor mills.
Sprint have officially announced a Oct 25 release date though
T-Mobile has a leaked image stating the 24th, but that was a week and half ago, but supposedly another leak shows that demo devices are being sent to stores
Heard T-Mo confirmed in stores this week.
Anyone hear same thing for At&t?
AT&T just announced Pre-order Oct. 25th with it being available Nov. 9 in all stores.

That and Sprint plans don't include mobile hot spot..which puts them on par cost wise with the new shared plans at AT&T and Verizon.

I called a sprint store and talked to this sprint rep that i had a conversation at the store with a while ago and he seems to be quite up to date and knowledgeable. he called the october 25th release before sprints big announcement. anyway he said earlier today that sprint stores should be getting the phones either tomorrow or thursday. the rumors of the 25th being a preorder date are most likely false, and i trust this guy enough to believe that we should be able to stop in at a sprint store thursday morning and pick up the best phone to date
hope you guys are as excited as i am

Verizon makes it pretty hard to get into the cookie jar while Sprint lets you in.
Sprints Galaxy S2 leaks flood development thanks to member "Sextape" thus xda development is pretty busy on device.
"Sextape" dropped Sprint leak for Sprint GN2 a couple weeks ago device not released so that's a good sign for things to come.

Yes...i am trying to learn the droid terminology. I've had an iPhone for 5 years and have only been concerned with Jailbreaking that.
Could you explain what people mean when I read "Verizon's phone has a locked bootloader". I took that as saying you couldn't root it to install the new rom.
Might want to update the title.

Verizon makes Samsung put up roadblocks that delay development from cracking bootloader / obtaining root.
There's always worry crack cant be achieved but it does so no worries.

Locked bootloader basically just means you cant flash a custom kernel (i know its more im trying to keep it simple). Devs sometimes have workarounds for roms like kexec on the GS3 for instance.
With the note 2 i dont think ill be flashing it despite being a flashaholic for 4 years now. Just root to get rid of the bloat.
Thanks for the info everyone. Sorry of this is getting off topic.
So Samsung wants us to be able to do this, so there aren't any warranty issues? Where as Sony/HTC track who does it? Or are there work arounds for that too?

I am just curious if anyone used their last Premier Gold upgrade to get the Note II? From what I read and understood, this year (2012) was the last of the Premier Gold annual 1yr upgrades. If not used by December 31, you'd switch to the new upgrade cycle.
What has me a lil bit confused, is that I used mine to get the GNII. I had been sitting on my upgrade since September. However, when I logged into Sprint to check my account, it showed I was eligible for an upgrade again in 345 days. Which means my upgrade was reset to November 2013.
So, unless this some how gets reset at the end of the year, it looks like I scored another 12mo upgrade. I'll definitely fight it if it gets changed or moved though. I asked in chat when my next upgrade is and the transcript was sent to my email. Plus I have a screen grab of their system, showing my upgrade date and I saved the text that also confirms my upgrade date.
Just curious if anyone else experienced the same thing. I asked on SprintUsers and a rep said he heard of a few of these going through, but the system shouldn't have done it. So maybe I got lucky, I dunno?

I've had my note 2 for over thirty days. Maybe they update the status of your upgrade after that.
I have upgraded quiet a few people and checked lines for people, where them and their spouse got phones the same day and one is available now "1 year later" while other is 8 months or so later. Also have done upgrades on some customers recently and when I recheck their eligibility it says a year later. Not sure why some have and some don't. Some have only been Sprint customers for a couple years with no discount....Also a good hint if you have a biz account with credit union discount a lot of times you get early upgrades or it doesn't consume your discount =) Transferred a regular customer of mine to her dad's biz account with credit union account, she went from upgrade sometime middle of next year to instant upgrade after transfer of liability was done. =)

Opening this thread to talk about the Samsung Galaxy GS4 (T-Mobile Version)
Samsung will be launching this device in 4 or so versions (Storage/Color wise).
My guess is that the device will launch in late April 2013 (Next Month)
So, Let's go ahead and talk!
(Ps. I'll update this thread when I get the device release date)
Worth a bump since I haven't seen a thread like this.
It will most likely have its own section
S4 INFO
Well, It'll end up being how the T-Mobile/Verizon etc split up into different sections.
I like cheese
Just take a look at the gs3. They have different devices for each carrier. It's a shame since it splits the development communities.
