Heres the situation. Was happily running a rooted s-offed desire using Oxygen 2.3.2.
I needed to flash on a stock O2 rom as its got to go back to HTC tomorrow because of the reboot on charge issue.
Anyone I've run into a problem.
Downloaded and ran this:
RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe
Then this happened:
Right crew downloaded the O2 Froyo RUU.
Go to install and get this screen:
(ruu.jpg)
I start to worry a bit. But none the less I Wait for it to do its thing...
then I get this:
(ruu2.jpg)
Im now stuck with a warning logo and a small traiangle in each corner of the screen.
When I unplug the desire I get a white screen with the following:
Code:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON

Main Version is Older!
Update Fail!
I cant get into recovery anymore
adb doesnt see the phone.
The only access I have to it is via fastboot.exe.
Any ideas? As I gotta get it back to stock - its being picked up in the morning to go back for warenty repairs!
Cheers!
*Edit*
My CID is O2__001
installing RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed fails with:
ERROR[131]:CUSTOMER ID ERROR
Totally stuck here I think...
Yes sir. I had an RUU file that did the exact same thing to my phone (bricked it). The RUU was an incomplete file and would only show the triangles in the 4 corners or boot loader with ruu as the only option. I had to look for a froto ruu of 2.2 and run it. As I'm sending this to you from that very same phone which was rooted again with unrevoked since I was back to froyo, you can see there is hope. I'm trying to remember the link to the ruu. I'm at work right now or I would attach the direct link to the working ruu for you. I'm looking into it for ya as we speak though.

Thank you kind sir, you could just possibly save my life!
Please pardon by botched spelling for I'm not the greatest of scholars. Unfortunately at this time, I'm not about to look for the correct RUU file. But I do kbow this much. Your lokking for an RUU that will downgrade the software to the oldest software that was released to the device. Now, I too must advise you, you will not turn S-on and if you rooted with revolutionary, the water-mark will still be there on your home screen. Those are other "issues" you will also have to "work the kinks out of" before warranty will replace it. Let me know if that doesn't help.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Tried a few RUU's but keep getting a "Customer ID error" on anyversion the same or > what im trying to install.
I've tried this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
S-ON
"I'm S-ON, I can't boot recovery, and my phone doesn't boot "
This is a bit of a worse situation, as you cannot flash system critical parts such as the recovery image and just restore a backup. This unfortunately means that you will lose all of your data when you attempt to fix the phone.
[STEP1]- Make sure that you have a goldcard. If not, create one from the tutorial.
[STEP2]- Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP3]- Download the latest WWE RUU from here
[STEP4]- Run the RUU and wait for completion WARNING: DO NOT, BY ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INTERRUPT THE PROCESS - THIS WILL MORE THAN LIKELY END UP WITH A BRICKED PHONE - NOT EVEN IF GOD HIMSELF TELLS YOU TO DO SO, OR IF THE US PRESIDENT THREATENS YOU WITH THERMO-NUCLEAR WAR
[STEP5]- Once the phone is booted, you are now returned completely to stock. You will need to re-root again, and I'd recommend S-OFF

Well thats me properly ****ed.
Can find any way of reading the CID of a card. The app someone linked to doesnt work on a laptop with inbuilt on pci card reader - no in a PC with a hub.
I wonder how much these HTC bastards will want to charge me to have the motherboard replaced (rebooting under charging) and reflashing the device.
You would've thought someone would have come up with a better solution for finding a SD cards CID.
What exactly do you mean by this:

Sadly not. I work with nothing but iPhone users.
The courier has picked it up now to send back to HTC for the rebooting issue. Lets see how much they try and rape me for this...
Had a result!
Checked the HTC repair tracking site to see my phones on its way back to me today! I thought I'd give them a call to get more details.
I was told the mainboard was indeed faulty so was replaced, phone now fully functional - and all under warrenty!
Can't wait to get it back to root it again...

Hi All,
I need to preface this by saying I'm a total noob when it comes to rooting, customizing, etc. I've spent the better part of two days reading, doing and failing and I've basically exhausted my abilities and desperately need some help getting my Desire HD back up and running. I apologize in advance for this wall of text.
Here's everything I've done:
1. Went through the HTCDev bootloader process to unlock my phone. HBOOT status: *** UNLOCKED ***
a. This involved whiping the phone and downgrading
2. Installed ClockworkMod
3. Through CWM, backed up current state which was basically factory reset
4. Tried to flash Blackout. It failed with a file_write error.
5. Tried to flash Jelly Time which didn't work either. Just hung at white HTC screen.
6. Restored backup and started Googling.
7. Eventually noticed that my phone was still S-ON, which seemed to be an issue. Read that I should try Advanced Ace Hack Kit utility.
8. Found out AAHK needed to start in locked state. Relocked bootloader (fastboot oem lock). HBOOT status: *** RELOCKED ***
9. Tried to run AAHK, it failed with a bunch of errors. I realized that I still had ClockworkMod as my recovery so I went on a hunt to try to get back to stock.
10. Tried rerunning the downgrade RUU from the HTCDev process but it failed with some error (I think it was model ID or something).
11. Tried hunting around for other stock Telus RUUs, but they also failed to install with errors. (I should probably have noted them).
12. As a last ditch, I tried to use the AAHK utility to return to stock. It seemed to be working, but then went back to the main menu after a couple minutes and I didn't get to see any errors. The phone remained at the black HTC screen until I rebooted it manually.
13. Phone hung at white HTC screen.
14. Went back into CWM, wiped and tried to restore
15. Phone hangs at white HTC screen.
This is where I am currently. I still have CWM installed instead of stock recovery. My current HBOOT is
Code:

It doesn't mention anything about locked, unlocked, relocked.
I can't get into the phone, so I'm guessing I have to do everything through fastboot at the moment. I have no idea what to do at this point, so I hope I've included enough details for you folks to diagnose my problems.
I contemplated unlocking the bootloader again and trying the restore from CWM, but I figured I've done enough damage and now it's time to ask the experts.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!
Poor dude...custom ROM install gone wrong
I recommend trying the HTCDev root process again with the bin file you got from HTCDev website, if that works you should be able to restore your insatll from CWM and atleast have a working phone. I remember that working.
Cya on Monday
The reason why it would hang at the HTC screen is because you failed to flash the boot.img. this has to be done seperately . Now to get a working phone you need to run an ruu. If you could run this from fast boot so we know which to run.
Fastboot getvar all
Well need cid and software version

Perfect. All you need to do is flash the telus ruu or pd98img if you have a card reader. You can follow my guide for a step by step if needed. It also has links for the files you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396229
Also if you want you can run these commands to flash the pd98img without a card reader. Been meaning to add this method to the guide.
So you can download the telus pd98img zip and place it in your fast boot folder.
Then run fastboot OEM rebootRUU
then fastboot flash zip PD98IMG.zip
Usually the ruu method is the easiest (one in my guide) but goo host file server can be finicky and might be faster to download the pd98 zip
Thanks for the advice. I followed your second steps and used fastboot to flash the zip.
Everything went fine, there were no errors in the command prompt and it finished with "OKAY". The problem is that my phone is stuck at the black HTC screen and the green progress bar is around 95% complete. Is everything ok? Do I just run "fastboot reboot" now?
When this is done, will I be back to stock recovery as well, or will I still have ClockworkMod? I'm hoping for stock recovery, so if this process won't do it, do you know how?
Thanks again for the help!
Go ahead and fast boot reboot. This will give you everything stock like new in box software
Thanks so much! Phone's back up and running and I've updated back to where I was before I started all this.
Now... my curiosity is back. Am I safe to try AAHK again now that I'm back to stock? I feel like I'm playing with fire!
Yes you can run the kit. It gave issues last because of the unlocking and cwm flashing. But now that you are bone stock its good to go. With a correct setup you should be rooted in 5min

Nice! I'll give it a whirl in a little bit.
Out of curiosity, what's the point of the HTCDev bootloader unlock process if it leaves you in S-ON and you can't flash roms? Or am I mistaken and just messed up?

I didn't read the whole thread but the htc dev method uses a different flashing procedure than s-off - requires more steps. You probably messed up somewhere. However, if you can get s-off that is what we recommend.

If i try to use the recovery mode it gives an error even if i dont touch any thing (except volup + down + power) E: Can't open /cache/recover/command.
I thought if i could get an update.zip and could update via "Apply update from SDCARD"

That is why you are stuck. You are not S-OFF nor Unlocked, so it will be impossible to write partitions in that state. Flash a RUU and that will fix the problem or unlock the bootloader, flash CWM recovery and then a custom rom. That is up to you...

Do not use that, I will guide you on how to do it. You can do the following, create a goldcard and then flash an unbranded RUU for your CID number. The fact is that for creating a goldcard you need a working android device. Do you have another device?

That is because that RUU's seems not be for your device. Even flashing them as PD98IMG won't work if those RUUs do not match your CID. If you have another android working device I can help you create a goldcard, if not I guess the best is to unlock bootloader and then get a custom rom...

Use this to create the goldcard...be cautious on how you do that to avoid corrupting the sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970157
Once you have patched the sdcard, without dismounting it, put a RUU in there and name it PD98IMG.zip, then boot in bootloader and wait until you are prompted to update.
And if you are a bit lost, download this: http://www.teamviewer.com and I can connect to your PC to lend you a hand.

Hi, i tried what you told me to do. with the The programm crashed at point 5 so i used this german side http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-desire-hd-root-rom/111867-anleitung-desire-hd-goldcard-erstellen.html to create an gold card. but the wired thing is, that the http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard wants to get the cid not the reversed cid.
But all in all after I created that gold card with hex editor, and putting the ruu as pd98img.zip on the SD. The bootloader was loading the *.zip and checking the zip and without error or anything else it just got back to the bootloader.

Hi everyone!
I've managed to screw up my Desire HD after running aahk-11092012, and was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas...
The Phone is a Desire HD bought from SFR here in France in 2011, never rooted or custom rom'ed, although updated with 2or 3 SFR roms since.
I ran aahk from the terminal on a OSX 10.7 (see Output.txt). From this you will see that it wants naturally to downgrade (to Froyo I assume) but downloading the rom fails, and even though I refused the "-n Flash this RUU? (y/n)" question, it continued doing all sorts of things, getting a few error along the way, rebooting the phone into recovery a few times, and finishes with
************* Downgrade failed *************
** Either:
** GoldCtixiard/SDCard failed
** USB connections are not working 100%
************* Downgrade failed *************
I then tried to flash the "Gingerbread HTC WWE 2.50.405.2" rom from the options menu, thinking I'd be clever, but that monumentally fails too..
From this point on the phone boots to the "Red tringle with an exclamation mark" screen (after the white HTC logo) and does nothing else.
Restarting AAHK just fails with a "Error detecting HTC phone on USB connection."
Having discovered the "VOL-UP +Power" recovery screen during this process, the next thing I tried was a "Apply sdcard:update.zip", but this just results in an "Invalid command" message underneath that already present "E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command" in yellow further down the screen.
I then try a "Wipe data/factory reset" and also a "Wipe cache partition". I can't honestly explain this. At least not given that I hadn't really looked up the issue anywhere yet. I also cant remember exactly what the output was, but the result is the same, still the red triangle screen.
OK, so now I finally open my eyes and realize what a moron I've been, so i plunge into actually learning something and realize quickly (aside from I hate myself and I'm not special, bla bla) that there are loads of thing I could have done differently, and directly on the phone, but obviously it's now too late. (See below for the information I CAN get from the Phone)
Oh yes, I did try a "Factory reset" from HBOOT, but still no joy....
The main option I've been looking into has been to recover an original branded SFR firmware and Froyo ROM and go from there, so I did manage to get a PD98IMG.zip file onto the SD card and HBOOT recognizes it, but fails with a "CID Incorrect" error.
I seem, therefore to be stuck whether I want to return to original SFR or continue tryng to flash a custom ROM:
I can't make a goldcard: I cant adb any commands, in HBOOT the device is not found, and in recovery the device is found but is "offline".
I found jo0ls' CID reader, but I dont have a SD card reader directly plugged to the PCI bus!
I did finally try to install a clockwork recovery in FASTBOOT, but get this:
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-ace.img
sending 'recovery' (3624 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
I assume this is much the same error as for the PD98IMG...
Sorry about the long winded post, but I hope it has the maximum of info...
Anyone have any ideas?

AAHK, and the server hosting the downgrade files, is retired. You can still unlock the bootloader, but your hboot needs updating before it cam be unlocked. I think you could also run your stock RUU.
CID Number shows that your device is a Vodafone device, probably VodaSFR but who knows? Fetch a Voda RUU and install it

Thanks for all your answers!
@ bananagranola: I did know aahk had been discontinued, I actually mentioned this originally but edited it out to "shorten my post"!
@ humzaahmed155: quite right, I'm with SFR, and I'm trying to simply restore an original branded ROM
@ pascuals: I will look into your suggestion right away! I was vaguely aware I might have to do this but could not get an accurate enough idea of what version might be appropriate for my phone

Woohoo!! I'm so happy, I got the phone working again last night!! I had a ruu kicking around:
RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_Vodafone_FR_3.13.163.3_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_227340_signed.exe
from the first day I'd bricked it. This hadn't worked the first time I tried it on windows (actually a Parallels VM on Mac), with the phone plugged in, but I can't remember what mode the phone was in; but as you'll see below I must not have been in fastboot...
Whatever, last night I finally tried pascuals's PD9810000 RUU, with the phone connected and in fastboot, the utility detects the phone fine, but fails with a firmware version error, saying the phone is 1.32.405.6, it will install version 3.13.0.0 but I need to "upgrade to 3.12.405.1"..:silly: (see attachments).
Feeling dejected I fired up the rom cited above thinking I have nothing to lose, and...lo an behold...10 minutes or so later the phone reboots to a beautiful welcome screen insulting me for not having inserted a SIM card!!!
Thanks anyway for your answers, at least they got me looking in the right direction!! I will now go a learn properly how this things work before bricking it again

My HBOOT is 0.85.2425, after S-OFF. Can I update to 2.00.0029? How?
Thanks.
use that link and just run the exe with your phone connected, atleast with debugging on i think, mine was like that, the tool took care of the rest automatically.

I see no reason why you need to update the bootloader when you already have s-off. If your bootloader is engineering bootloader then just let it be.
Sent from my Desire HD
Hello! To start off, I apologize for starting a new thread, however, I'm pretty overwhelmed with all of the information that I have found here.
My issue is this: I have an HTC Desire HD from Telus that stopped booting up. It started out freezing a lot, forcing battery pulls, until it didn't want to boot up at all. In my quest to find a solution, I've tried a factory reset in both the main hboot screen, as well as the one in the recovery section of hboot, and have had no success. I've tried a couple different RUU, and again, no success.
While I have a reasonable tech background, my android knowledge has always been poor, despite my best efforts. What it seems like to me, is that the software is corrupted (I apologize if corrupted is an inaccurate term for my issue), as well as the recovery...kind of like if I'm trying to do an erase and install on my laptop, but my recovery partition is toast.
From what little I have learned, I need to flash a ROM onto the phone, and in order to do that, I believe I need to do an s-off thing as well.
As you can tell, I have an extremely basic understanding of these concepts. I'm unsure of what utility to use for the steps, as IIRC certain utilities work for specific hardware and software. I did have a bunch of tabs open that I would have posted links for here, just so you guys know what I've read, however my girlfriend closed them while I was at work yesterday!
What I would like to do, is get a "clean install" of android back onto my phone. What I am looking for, is a version of android that is not the telus stock, but a better version that will run much more smoothly, and give me more options. This is something that I've been trying to learn how to do for quite some time anyway. From what I've read, android revolution seems like a good option, however, if there is one that is better suited, I'm open to suggestions.
If someone can walk me through getting my phone back up and running, I'd be super appreciative! If I try to turn on the device, it displays HTC, and that's it. I should still, hopefully, be able to get into hboot.
Again, I apologize if this post is in the wrong place, and for making the post in the first place. I just wasn't sure if similar issues and solutions that I read about in other threads would apply to my situation.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Kyle

I installed the adt sdk package thing, not sure what to do with it
In sdk in platform-tools folder you can find adb and fastboot.
Put it in some folder that you can reach easily (like: d:\adb)
Turn off your HTC Sync even in tray.
With your phone go in hboot and in fastboot.
With your PC open cmd
In cmd go to your folder with adb and fastboot and type fastboot getvar all
With command getvar all in fastboot you will get more information about your phone

How can he use "advanced ace hack kit" if he can't boot in android?
And about custom rom, we can discuss about that for a mounth. With custom rom you get something but in the other hand u loose something. It's not for everyone.
Maybe is the best that he first try with WWE 2.3.5 stock or WWE 2.3.5 stock rooted rom
Then if he decides he can try some custom rom

Ok, You're right.
Hi my old Desire suddenly had this problem, without getting wet, having a fall or overheating.
I turned it off and later on again. It starts, show "HTC"-screen and vibrates 7x and the accu-led at the front is off I checked the net for hours for solutions. None of them worked. Accu is checked with a multimeter and ok.
Primary goal is to get my contacts informations which are saved on the phone, not sim nor googlebackup. (Names and Telephonenumbers)
Secondary goal is to reactivate my Desire.
The Desire is untouched, s-on, debug- off, official Froyo 2.2 Stock rom, not branded, no simlock
I can get into Hboot, but if i choose recovery it makes a restart and vibrates 7x in the HTC-BootScreen and freezes.
I tried Android USB Driver, Universal ADB Driver and HTc Sync on my PC but cant access the Phones Rom via Hboot. Some say i need to set the debug mode on first. But i cant do that, bc i cant boot the phone to get into settings to set debug on.
Other say 7x vibration indicates a hardware (motherboard) failure which cannot be solved, or the eMMC in the phone is broken.

Microp-031d

Question:
- Does someone know a try, solution to save my contacts informations? (access to the Rom copy the contacts file on the pc or something similar.
- When i go into clear storage and make a factoy reset, will there all my contact informations be deleted?
Thanks in advance
Ludwig
.
Yep 7 vibrations is almost certainly hardware failure.
I don't know why you haven't backed up your contacts to Google. This is one of the main advantages of an Android phone...
I'm afraid it's highly unlikely you'll be able to save anything from the phone. Don't think you can get adb to communicate with the phone to pull information from it
If you clear storage/factory reset, this will wipe everything. It still most likely will not boot afterwards.
You could try running the 2.3.3 RUU, it might boot, but this will also wipe everything.
Hardware failures happen, it's unfortunate. Hope this is a lesson to please backup your contacts properly next time. It is extremely valuable for situations exactly like this...
Thanks for your reply.
It seems there will be a lot of work for me the next days to gather most of my contacts on other ways again. Sadly i had only the telephone number of some of them. I thought the google backup is automaticly on. But when i login to google the contacts are blank.
So now i have to buy a new smartphone a bit earlier than expected.
You mean RUU 2.3.3 via the official RUU....signed.exe or via hboot and RUU as PB99Img.zip an the sd card?
I tried it via the RUU...signed.exe but i got error 170.
miniadb gets a connection: "Fastboot devices" shows the information, as well as "fastboot getvar all"
where can i find the official RUU 2.3.3 or 2.2 as PBimg.zip? I found only custom ones.

Problem is debugging is off and i cant set it on with that fault:
"To use Simple ADB Backup, you'll need USB Debugging Mode enabled on your Android device (Go to Settings > Developer, enable developer options, then enable USB debugging) and the utility installed on your desktop. "
@eddiehk6:
Thanks i found that too. Problem is htcdevDOTcom/process/legal_download/152 has no agree button as described. Most certainly bc HTC recalled the 2.3 ROM bc of stability problems etc.
The pb99img.file is my last hope. Im just waiting for a friends laptop to push that file on my sdcard. At first i tried to push it on the sd-card via my panasonic Lumix camera, but the crazy japanese engineers decided to block the ability to write on sd via connected, bc of patent royalties , grrrr :silly:
