Was trying to use ninjamorph to replace my H to 4G icons, then I chanced upon 2 icons of different color, grey and blue with each named stat_sys_data_connected_h and stat_sys_data_fully_connected_h respectively, is there any significant difference between this or I could just replace the blue one to use for my device?

Grey = data but not connected to Google services (or no data)
Blue = connected to Google services.
The icons tell you when you have a good connection for things like contacts and bookmark sync basicly. It won't change the function if your rom if you make them all grey or all blue.

I think there's a misunderstanding here, I'm not talking about the the bars, I know that if it's blue, it's connected, if it's grey, it's not, I'm talking about the 3G icon and 4G icon, there are 2 separate one, even if your bar is blue, meaning connected, the 3G sign will still be displayed in white isn't it, it doesn't changes with the bar. A picture speaks a thousand words, I'm referring to this. In application usage, I don't really see a blue '3G or '4G' bar before, come to think of it, what is the main difference here?

sorry but you're saying? Don't understand.
a reference for you, even the 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus, the 4G icon is also in white. The signal bars are blue though, meaning connected to Google servers.

Doesn't that makes the transition between 3G (grey) to 4G (blue) weird? Or you had the 3G replaced too? And what tool did you use to make the change? Ninjamorph?

I'm not bothered about knowing if I have 3G or 4G - the phone always seems to have a decent enough signal for my needs. I just think the grey looks bad so I've changed lots of the icons to blue....

In order to get the bar transparent your gonna have to either flash one if the suggestions our you gonna have to edit a couple xml files. Its not as sassy as just swapping the pngs

@mystery- yeah I figured it wouldn't be that easy.. know of any good tutorials that might get me started learning how to do that? I mean change the .xmls not the flashing part I've got that down.. lol. I thought I saw one you or thomas posted but I can't find it anymore.
@nova- Its a little plain.. didn't mean to offend. There are sections that make It invisible on my wallpaper. In the end I just prefer a little color.. lol. I kind of feel the same way about the 4g, wifi, and I think silent buttons in the pull down tab. Not a lot of difference between on and off. Besides that I love the v2 theme.

As long as people help themselves more, such as you are doing, then I am more than happy to stick around and point people in the right direction. It would be completely different if you made a thread that said "I want a transparent notification bar. Make me one now." So as long as people start doing things like this more often, I'll be back in no time.

Ok, here's what I have found with making a transparent noticication bar for the Epic. Making the png semi-transparent will work, but only for the lock screen. Another png or image will hide the transparent bar with a black background. I have tried to find which image does this, but no luck so far.
statusbar_background.9.png is the status bar image.
Here is the one I use. You can get away with just editing this without worrying about draw9patch because it just stretches.

It in the framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\
The reason you can only see it on the lockscreen or on a live wallpaper is because of the launcher you are using has the background image set for 16bit, showing black under the status bar b/c the image doesn't fit. This shouldn't be the case for new newest LauncherPro as I'm told, the stock TWlauncher, or the 2.2 Launcher (Launcher2). If needed, just pull the TWlauncher from my rom, or you can run a live wallpaper.
Hope this helps.

Hey everyone,
I've been playing around with my new phone for a few hours now.
So far, I love it!
However, I have noticed a strange bug. The browser seems to be dimming webpages.
To see what I'm talking about:
1) Open google.com
2) open the tab viewer
3) click on the google tab - it expands to fill the screen
4) as soon as it fills the screen, the page immediately 'dims'
As it is filling the screen, the background appears nice and white. However, once it completely fills the screen, the background immediately dims to a darker white...
VIDEO
Google Bug Report
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23765#c0
OK, this isn't just limited to the browser. It happens on pretty much every app with a white splash screen. I.e. opening Facebook. The splash screen is nice and white, but when the content loads, the white background becomes dimmer and more gray...
Does anyone else know what I am talking about? I'm on 4.0.1 if that matters.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
The phone dims purposely. I. Don't know if there is a setting to stop it though. I believe it is powersaving feature. Touching your screen resets the time for dimming and screen off though.

I'm not talking about the 'about to go to sleep' dim. This is a very slight, almost unnoticeable, dim when the white animation completes. For example, say I open an app that has a white splash screen and a white background. The app opens with the very white splash scree, then as soon as the content loads, the very white background 'changes' to a more 'off-white' or 'gray' color...
Can others please chime in? I really want to look into this bug, but I need to know if it is limited to me.
This is crazy now. Open google.com on the browser. Then tap the search bar (on the webpage) to bring up the keyboard. The white background of google.com becomes whiter when the keyboard opens. Close the keyboard with the back button, and the background becomes dimmer again.
Even the status bar partakes in this "dimming" action, so it is not limited to the web page.
WTF?
I see this too, it looks like it is caused by dynamic contrast adjusting the contrast based on the picture.

Anyway to keep the contrast the way it is when the keyboard is open? The whites look so much better that way...

I'm not sure... Contrast is pretty bad when the screen is predominantly white. However, as soon as some darker colors are introduced (menu/keyboard), the whites brighten up and contrast improves.
Could this be because the all white screen draws more power than a screen that is only partially white?
Go to a mostly white screen (i.e. Google.com) and slowly pull down the notification bar. You will see that the white of the webpages gradually becomes brighter... This is really bizarre...
Good way to test is type in about:blank into the browsers address bar for a full white page.
My gnex does it as well I've never noticed it before but now I can see it its going to annoy me

It originally annoyed me. However, I probably will get used to it in a couple of days.
I was originally worried that it was just my phone doing this (due to the lack of replies on this thread). However, now that is seems like this occurs on all GNs, I'm pretty relieved
Whatever, this screen is gorgeous when displaying colors. Black-on-white contrast could be better (i.e. black text on an all-white webpage), but it is good enough...
I'm still wondering if it is hardware or software that is causing this. If it was software, I would definitely like the higher contrast white all the time...
Mine also does this D:

I think the galaxy s2 and other Samsungs like the note do this, but it is by design from the setting which can be turned off. It supposedly is for power saving of bright colors.
My question is any GSM nexus user seeing this? Cause I attempted the steps in this thread in a dark room and dinr notice any issue whatsoever. Is this a Verizon version issue where maybe all lte versions have this enabled to conserve power?

So then we should be given control over that. The stock GSII had lots of control over the screen color, and power saving features.
Here is my version of a custom status bar with more color on the icons and larger battery icons with 1% increments.
I did not create the icons got them from the following threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723417
and can't remember where i got the battery icons from but thanks to who ever it was.
Icons Changed:
All battery with varying colors and percent, including charging battery icons.
Silent/Ringer icon now has red line through it.
Bluetooth icons are now purple.
Wifi icons start and red with 1 bar, then 2 bars is blue the purple for 3 and 4.
Vibrate icon is purple.
New image/notify icon is blue.
Eye icon is multi color.
Airplane icon is changed.
Alarm icon is changed/multi color.
Have not yet been able to change the signal icons but will keep trying.
NOTE: this is based on an AT&T stock ucalm rom. I tried modifying someone else Tmobile rom but it screws up the 4g icon and only 3g comes up.
I therefore, had to bite the bullet and decompile the stock AT&T rom with apk manager and make the changes myself rather than the quick and dirty just copy in new icons.
Consequently, if you use this on ANOTHER CARRIER most likely your 3g/4g icons will not work correctly.
Use at your own risk, but make a backup first with cwm backup. I also recommend you manually copy a backup of SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex toveithet SD of external SD, so you can manually restore those two files if need be.
There are two versions below, first is the .apk by itself that you can copy into system/app and change permissions to match all other .apk's (rw r r ) and reboot to recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache and reboot.
I did this with root-explorer.
Second method,
is to flash the cwm .zip, also clear cache and dalvik cache (b4 installing patch) and reboot.
You need to be rooted to use these.
Here are some pictures to determine if you even want to use them:

Sorry this is getting a little overboard. I am not starting to do 8 million different battery mods for all diff versions of the phones. If you don't like my batteries you will have to find someone else's mod. I basically just did it for myself and thought I'd share. Especially since all other 1% battery mods seem to gave started with T-Mobile or sprint which screw up the 4g and 3g etc symbols in our phones which are obviously different in our roms. If you want to change a few icons and batteries get 7 zip, it is very reasy to swap .PNG or icons yousrself using it. Just open up two diff system ui's with it and drag and drop the different icons.

Flashed with CleanRom SE 1.0 works great. Haven't seen any icon or color issues yet. Only thing I noticed was the check box for auto brightness is still green.
Thanks for the theme!

Unfortunately not anytime soon.
Yesterday I spent pretty much all day modding SecPhone.apk it was looking pretty....real pretty. While wrapping things up my PC fan kicked into high gear with smell of burn then screen turned off.
This afternoon I took it to Geek Squad for repair hopefully they can fix....at least save my hard drive.

maybe bad GPU, PSU, you check blown caps on the mobo? Geek Squad is going to be very expensive. Smaller computer shops are the way to go if you aren't knowledgeable about computers. Much cheaper

Nah didn't look into cause but the good news , Its still under warranty so damage will be covered.
My only true worry is Hard drive loss.
Works great! Thanks. Loving the ICS blue. Did notice that sometime the status bar icon change from generic icons to the ATT ones but I can live with that.
Good work.

Hello, I have been trying to get a few themes into the theme store, but they always fail in the same areas. The problem is my personal phone screen works perfectly fine, but Samsung tester's screens look different. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where in the theme editor I have to go to change these key areas? I have included some pictures of what my screen looks like (left) compared to what theirs looks like (right). Also, I am using the mac version and am on Android 5.1.1. if that makes any difference.
Screen 1 is clock then task at the top
Screen 2 is not even close to mine
Screen 3 shows my buttons appear
Screen 4 is a two part problem. The date is impossible to change from black as far as I can tell. Also, I am not sure where in the theme editor to change the date highlight color. My primary, secondary, etc colors are all different in the common area, yet the date highlight does not show.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone knew the answers and could help me out.
Part of the issue is that they are using Marshmallow to test your theme, hence why some major differences in the screenshots.
Primary color and text color should not be the same as any text color (including button text), that is probably the issue with some sections.
In Screen 3/4, you cannot change the color of the month text. I reported the bug on their very first release and it still has not been fixed.

Ugh, I have had so many little issues like this. I wish you could have a link to common, or be able to change things per screen. Literally that one button is the only one that is the same as the text. All other buttons or menus are fine and now I'll have to rethink my entire design because of it. Same with that date bug. Impossible to make the bottom black for any themes because of it. Another potential bug I found was if you open the phone > dialer > then hit speed dial. The top menu text is always the same as the bottom body section. It's almost always hard to see.
However, I heard a new version is coming out this month (for mac at least). Hopefully a lot of these little issues will be fixed. Also, where did you report the bug, emailed the main guy, or on their forum? I have a huge list of bugs to report, but find it difficult to report them as their forum, for unknown reasons, won't let me type in the text box.

About screen 4 Highlight color you can see it if not theme dropdown menu . Let it white background and black text as it be. Please try.

Where tho? It doesn't give me any options in the clock settings to change it and all other menus work fine and have a highlight color.

I am, but it's impossible to change. It's not the highlight color as I changed that, but it won't change in this one menu only. I tested other themes out from the store and their's don't change either. I think it is just a bug from Samsung.

It's in Clock>Alarm>date that is the issue. It rarely works when I use themes. The only one it worked on is the Iron Man theme, but all others didn't work. What is the exact setting in common that changes it?

That is the problem I have. I am not exactly sure what menu it is that changes it. However, if you go to S Planner>Task (top left), the highlight color appears fine on the same colored menu.

Not get what you mean in last sentence.
I tell you that if you leave dropdown menu in common as it be. White background and dark text. By press reset button. The year highlight in calendar and clock will show as highlight color you choose. But if you theme that part text of years will tinted all to color you choose so not show highlight.

Yes, meaning it is a bug by Samsung. Since you should be able to change its color and have everything appear correctly.
