AOSP keyboard lag/inputs. - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hi everyone....does anyone have any idea how keyboard lag/inputs can be fixed? With CM 7.1, 7.2 and the various AOSP ROMs, using all types of keyboards (stock android, perfect, GO) it always seems to have trouble "registering" keys occasionally. When typing fast in landscape mode, for example, sometimes a key will not register, and it is not always the same key. It's just a random key. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issues you are as well, and they happen quite often throughout the day. I use a pattern unlock for my lock screen, and that has issues registering sometimes as well. A quick lock/unlock always fixes it, but a software fix would be convenient. I'm running the last CM7 nightly that came out with Smart Keyboard Pro.

I think the problem we are having is a kernel issue. The stock kernel is the only one I have found that doesn't do this.

Home Screen Pinch stopped working

I have a Desire running HTC Sense, and I have just noticed that the home screen pinch has stopped working. Does anyone have any idea's why this would have stopped working?
The only apps I have installed that I think could effect it are the "Home Switcher" and "HelixLauncher2", but I am currently using the Sense launcher as my current and default one.
Thanks,
Rob
Mine stops working every now and then too (i'll bet you've lost pinch to zoom in google maps and photos too?)
A reboot will sort it out, but my money is on some app i've downloaded that screws with it once opened. I don't have the ones you mentioned.
It happens to me all the time when I switch to Android keyboard to use the speech to text functionality. When I switch back to the original keyboard it works fine.
Press 'Home' when on Main screen, does it work? If so, Looks like it may be a 'Pinch Gesture' issue. If not, A Home replacement App Possibly

Actually, that reminds me that i have swype installed - i'll bet that's what's stopping my pinch to zoom from working. I really don't miss it and would rather have Swype
Rebooting does fix it. I have Swype also so looks like that could be causing it.
My friend and I both have Swype installed and can confirm that this happens to us on a regular basis too.

even if Swype is not active? it effects the pinch to zoom? what do you do to fix it, change the keyboard layout to android one and than the pinch works or even with that sometimes it stays this way?
I have the same issue, with the home screen, photo's and browsing. Happend twice now, just reboot the phone and it's working fine for a while.
I too believe it's something I have downloaded, doesn't bother me that much and I can't be bothered trying to work out which app in might be. Maybe when I'm bored one day I'll have a look through.
I have the same issue when I have swype keybord activated. its intermittant, but annoying. and a re-boot always seems to fix it.
Not the same as I don't have that keyboard installed I do however have Smart keyboard pro.
Do you guys HAVE to reboot to fix it!!! I think just making any other keyboard the default (by press-holding, and selecting input method) would solve it!!
Interesting, because Swype + Desire port to the N1 doesn't have this problem.
I have the same issue, but I don't have swype installed. I have installed the Scandinavian keyboard with support for gestures tough. I have turned off gestures, going to see if that helps.

PK
As far as I can tell, it happens whenever you change input method. So even changing from a 3rd party back to the HTC default will lose it. Reboot always fixes.
Mods, this is a common enough question that it might be worth stickying it? Seen about 5 threads in the last 2 weeks.

Exactly this.
If you change keyboards, just reboot and all pinch functionality will return. Annoying, but I don't change often enough to notice it. If you change and change back, then the pinch functionality remains without a reboot.

Not true on my device! Switching from HTC keyboard to Scandinavian keyboard by long press in any text field definitely breaks pinch-to-zoom (with or without gestures enabled in the Scandinavian keyboard). Switching back to HTC keyboard restores the pinch-to-zoom functionality in all applications.
Rebooting with Scandinavian keyboard enabled will cause pinch-to-zoom to work until a switch to HTC keyboard and back again is performed.
I'm a noob to Android, just got my Desire yesterday. I installed GOOGLES GOGGLES,GOOGLE MAPS and BATTERY WIDGET,and had the same pinch-problem. I uninstalled the apps again, problem solved. Didn't try to reboot though. But I'm glad to hear that the reboot will solve the problem, would be a shame if we couldn't have any apps installed without problems!

2 Problems after flashing CM6

Ever since i flashed to the CM6 Nightly builds i've been encountering a few problems. These problems didn't exist with my previous rom which was the damage control 3.2 i think.
First problem is the on-screen keyboard, it seems like this keyboard is the one that comes with the new froyo update, i dislike this keyboard mainly because everytime i try to type anything in the web browser box the whole keyboard screen slides up after each button press. this gets extremely annoying, this keyboard also doesnt have the directional buttons so editing documents or just simply editing typos is cumbersome. I would like to switch back to the keyboard i had before, i believe it was the keyboard that was on 2.1
Second problem is the flash player doesn't work at all, it definitely worked on Damage Control but for some reason it doesnt work on this CM6 build, yes i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to fix this problem. Is this a known problem in the CM builds? Mainly flash videos don't work. i've yet to try it on games like miniclip.com.
any help on these two problems would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
I just remembered I have 1 more question its about a voicemail app that let's u hear ur voicemails straight from the app I remember there's a play, last, and next button I remember I had it on the stock sprint rom. can anyone tell me what the app is called and where I can get it?

keyboard effing up

Hey guys, the default keyboard has been acting up, it wont let me type fast, if i type too fast it erases some letters, so i am forced to type at a glacial pace. Anyone else out here expeience a similar issue? What are some possible fixes or alternatives besides Swype?
I (and many others) experienced the same behavior from the stock keyboard after the recent update. Not sure what caused it, but the stock keyboard has been flat out unusable for me. I switched to Smart Keyboard Pro and I'm loving it. The layout is much better, and I find myself typing a lot faster and more accurately than before the stock keyboard began malfunctioning. Smart Keyboard Pro in landscape mode provides the best typing experience I've ever had on any cell phone. I dare say it even beats out my old BlackBerry Bold's keyboard.

[Q] smiley longpress

So I switched from CM7 to GRP (which is essentially CM7, just green- to the best of my knowledge)
and now whenever I try and longpress the smiley button (in Swiftkey X or the stock KB) i have to keep my finger on the screen and slide it to the icon I want. It used to stay open while I hadn't decided on the smiley I wanted.
I use handcent for my texts, but this problem also persists within the stock app as well. It started when I was running the latest stable release of CM7 (i believe 7.1.0) so I switched to GRP to see if it was the rom crapping out on me (it wasn't).
I also took off the screen protector I had (maybe I had some dirt underneath it that cause the problem), which didn't change anything. I also clean the screen often (so lingering finger oils aren't the problem either).
Anyone know what the problem might be?
I think that's just how the keyboards work, same thing happens with me on both keyboards.
Think Swift key did an update, mine used to do like you've seen, now I must long press. Don't think it's ROM related.

[Q] Problems w/Swiftkey 3 and CM9 nightlies

So, i've been flashing CM9 nightlies since i found them (at least 5 now) and just got the update to Swiftkey 3 today while at work. I immediately noticed that it seems to toggle the hw keyboard fn key on instead of just a one press and fn for the next key pressed, and i have to hit it again to get back to typing normally. I like the changes that they made in Swiftkey 3, but if this is a direct issue from the update, i'll have to roll back to the older version.
Anyone else notice this issue or have something similar happen? Suppose it's possible the key is getting stuck, but it worked fine this morning, and the only change was the Swiftkey update.

The same thing is happening to me running AOKP build 39... Kind of annoying.

It enables a "desktop feel" kind of thing.
If you hold down fn or shift and click the key you need to it will just do it once without locking it.
Kind of like holding down a real shift key. Google Drive does the same thing.
"features" like this should be an option.. as in.. give us the option to turn it on or off. Especially if we've been using an app for a long time and this is a new feature.. Hopefully they'll take the bug report submissions seriously and either make it an option or remove it.
If you need another confirmation on this, I can duplicate the same thing. I rarely use the hardware keyboard, but just wanted to let you know just in case.
I have/had the same problem with the xperia pro - aka mk16i
to the "bug" you described some of my special-keys were wrong and I had to set the layout for the physical keyboard within swiftkey to English
