Is anyone brave enough to drop 17 bucks on this new launcher? Apparantly it is as awesome as the videos released awhile back. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Im about to take the plunge and purchase it but would like to know if anybody else has tried it yet and feels that its worth it.
There isn't enough flashy effects or options that would ever have me drop $15+ on a launcher. To each their own. Most free or low priced launchers are plenty smooth with all the options I need or want.

I just used tsf for about ten minutes. I would definitely not pay what they are asking. Not only is the launcher overly complicating and a waste of ram, its overly sensitive.

i was just about to post asking about this when i saw this thread. is the epic able to handle it well?
it sounds like people are going by bad first impressions. the problem is i would be shocked if this thing didn't take awhile to adapt to. can you guys who tried it honestly say you would not come to love it once you adapt?
the functionality and looks seem amazing and i was shown the video by my friend who uses a bionic and he loves it. does it lag on the epic?
but yeah 17 bucks is steeeeep in a culture that doesn't like to pay for apps already.

haha true but they show most of the features in the video so you should be going in knowing that you'll eventually be able to move everything around that fluidly, but will take a bit of getting used to. shouldn't be more than a few hours i'd imagine.
anyway i'm thinking of taking the plunge when i get home, just wondering if those who tried it got bad lag or anything on our dated phones
It actually runs just as the video does, I dnt dislike it but its just extremely complicated. Def not worth 17 bones, but having aquired it *cough* thru alternative means *cough* I can say it is a very pretty launcher.
Man, I've been wanting this Launcher for 2 months, and its 17 bucks? Forget it.

Heh. My GF loved the SPB launcher, but i finally converted her to ADW. Might sneak her over to GO Launcher next update.
Still, I felt $15 was to much, but $17 is just an absurd amount for just a launcher.
This Epic post was brought to you via Tapatalk
Been using this for a few days. I like it and its nice eye candy but... definitely NOT worth $17. Honestly, no launcher is.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
the most ive EVER paid for a launcher is nova launcher prime...and that was only 4 bucks. 17 bucks?? for a phone app?? ONLY if i was rich... or maybe if i had a really nice tablet or something, but not on my epic. cm9 with nova works perfect for me. i wshould look at this video tho, now im curious to what a 17 dollar launcher looks like. anybody find it on 4shared mobile yet?? :x
unfortunately this is a terrible launcher.
It's unintuitive
Features that one might look for aren't there.
Memory hog
this are some of the falling points of the launcher, but that doesn't make it bad enough.
There is no free version of this launcher, no way to give it a test drive before you get down and dirty with it.
You MUST drop over 17 dollars on it!
WOAH!
Hold the phone a minute.
Seventeen dollars for a launcher, a homescreen.
What does it do for these 17 dollars of mine?
It launches other apps.
What else?
That's about it.
Well does it at least have some sort of cool effect that shows you're using a powerful phone capable of handling an app that costs seventeen bucks?
No. It has very simple graphics.
Why does it cost so much then?
Eh. Why not?
Bottom line:
Crappy app not worth the money.

That's kinda how I felt. I downloaded with 4share and played with it before uninstallin after 5 mins and deleted the apk off of the SD (that's how I do before I make a purchase if they don't have a trial or demo). I feel its early for it but dammit in s few months It's going to take ove'!

Yeah, I downloaded it, backed it up with Titanium and uninstalled it for the refund and restored from Titanium in case I wanted to use it longer than 15min to decide whether or not to purchase.
For $5 it would be a home run. For $15, better make me a sammich.
I didnt like SPB Shell 3D much, seems like a memory hog. I just got Regina Launcher, it seems pretty cool but not for me. Back to Launcher Pro again.
I tried to get on the beta for this back when I had my vibrant. Personally I like it. I guess it's something different. The $15 tag is a bit hard to swallow though.
I checked it out. Looks cool. But no demoware/trial. Fifteen bucks is hard to swallow with what a 15min return period.. I'll stick with GO Launcher for now.

I currently use it and I like it but I really wish I didn't pay 15 bucks for it. It beter smd with a new update or I will be dissapointed. I figured that it's so new it still will advance with future updates because in the couple weeks I've had it, its updated about 3 times. I think for 5 bucks it would be great but I can't help but feel that I wasted 15 bucks on a launcher, till I get a 3d phone that can actually take advantage of the 3d capabilities. In conclusion, I would wait for a price drop or something because it's nice but not worth 15 bucks.

Wouldn't it have to have been designed with autostereoscopy in mind in order for it to be 3D on the upcoming 3D phones? Considering there are no phones with this capability out right now, I doubt that they incorporated the 3D technology needed into the software now. Even with the Evo 3D, it would look exactly as it does on your phone now.
Anyone that knows more about this can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I've had mine for about a week now (came from and EVO) I have no complaints whats so ever........... Your mileage may vary.......
Its a good device coming from the Evo. Its has a few issues like the Loss of service, but I did experience that until I rooted the device so I dont blame it on the phone.
The one problem that I do have is that it wont play most games for more than 10 to 15 minutes. But I use it for reading more than anything else and sprint and samsung are suppose to be releasing a patch next month.
I would say stop calling it the SGS2 (which, I know, it is) and get used to ET4G. If for nothing else than to know that if something is labeled SGS2 that you should. not. flash. it.
As far as QWERTY goes? Pffft. I was so worried when I got my Evo that I was going to miss QWERTY. I didn't have the Hero long enough to get used to it, then I got the Moment and got used to it (that keyboard sucked anway)....but the transition took, oh, a week or two. That was a year and a half ago and I've never regretted ditching the real keyboard. There are hundreds of 'em. Find one you like. I go back and forth between Swype and SwiftkeyX and can haul major ass on both....especially Swype. SwiftKeyX is totally worth whatever it costs. If you let it read your texts, emails and Facebook posts it's prediction is simply amazing. You barely even have to try being precise.
This phone is the epic now... If you like your keyboard, turn the phone landscape, then the keys r bigger than my gfs physical keys on the og epic

I got it last Tuesday and love the phone and size. Im using the "Go Launcher" and LOVE IT, amazing how easily it is to make your beautiful looking and functional. The only problem Im having is LOS. And battery life is not that good either but , what can you expect from a dual Core phone with a big ass screen. You can tweak it with SetCpu. But Im still trying to find the best configuration so i can have a optimal battery life.
But i must say the phone is amazing and also it also lets you uninstall a lot of the preloaded apps without rooting, something other phones and carriers wont permit.

If you are coming from the Moment you will love this device. I had the moment for 6 months but I had to get rid of it because I hated it. I went to the and loved that until my charger port broke. Got this as a replacement. This is better than the Evo, considering the screen is excellent. Also it is so much lighter and thinner than the Evo and Touchwiz is not as bad as people make it out to be.
The only problem with it that I have had is the sound bug which causes some games to just quit.

Here's a little devil's advocate.
I bought the ET4G on a whim after seeing it on Craigslist for an attractive price. After using it for a week, it's going back on Craigslist and I am using my OG Epic again w/ the new Gingerbread release (and physical keyboard fixes!).
While the ET4G certainly offers a snappier Android experience and a better camera than the OG Epic, I didn't find the boost in speed or extra screen real estate to be worth the $325 I paid for the device. I think the only speed boost worth writing home about was the speed of the ET4G's stock browser. Lastly, the audio quality of SGSII is inferior to SGSI and in all honesty not worthy of a high end smartphone - this was the deal breaker for me.
Considering that you already have the OG Epic, I'd wait until the middle of next year so you can get a killer future-proof 720p LTE phone at a fully discounted price. All that said, the ET4G is still a great device!

That's one reason I haven't taken the plunge (though I tried once, and the guy at the store said he couldn't mess with my plan). When I played with it at the store, it wouldn't rotate. Meanwhile, some of the apps (especially the camera app) would go landscape and not go back. Anyone else have that problem?

i think it's great. I really like it. As much as I like it I don't think it's worth $15 bucks. You can purchase it, try it out, and if you don't like it refund it.
My previous launcher was ics launcher in case you'd like a free alternative.
Personally the launcher great as it is but the idea of SPB shell was functionality but that after the tons of updates the app gets. As it is on the WinMo its the most feature rich launcher and it will take time for our android version to reach the functionality the WinMo version had. I recommend to keep a eye on it for when it reaches it full potential $15 would be a steal, at the moment its just its beginning stage with SPB using the money to support the launcher.
I used it for a while. It was okay, but not worth the price. I now use go launcher instead.
I have it and dont use it. I just wont give any launcher a chance until it has the ability to hide apps in the drawer. I dont need to see adobe flash/reader and adfree etc in there non stop. It also eats battery relentlessly.
The app drawer is just a list of all installed applications, why would you want to hide some? Are you using the app drawer to run your apps then? If so, why not make some folders instead on your homescreens? You can group the apps you want to use into folders (games, apps, system, etc), only putting in the ones you want. Spb shell has nice folders, or you could use simi folder widget, etc instead.
I use it with cm7 rom and its great....I tryed all the launchers..and this one is really awesome

Saw that a few weeks ago and i cant wait!
I discovered a launcher called Claystone thats 3d, and has some good customization, as well as themes!
I use it. In fact i have been using them since win 6.5 days. Which is where most people that use it come from i would bet.
Its freaking awesome , and i no know of no other launcher that gives you the ability to add screens more than the reg 5. i have 16 lol. i also use it with go-launcher ,go-sms go-contacts etc. Which makes it kind of a hybrid but none the less its worth the 15 bucks to me. i also can ti my settings and move them from one device to another. I even have the same stuff on my flyer. So all my crap is there in the same place no matter what device i pick up for the day. Its hard really to beat that.
And yes i have played with every launcher out there. I like a few of them i just like this one more. As far as battery drain i haven't seen any difference between this one and others.

I would actually be interested in a kid friendly rom because I'm planning to get my baby sister an android phone soon. Probably not a gs2 though, lol... so a kid friendly rom for this phone wouldn't do me much good.

Why does a kid need a smartphone is my questuon

everything is pretty much kid friendly, its what you get from the market thats not. only thing is theming it..
I was thinking about this the other day. On computers not phones. I think what you gotta do is have a keylogger and the balls to confront the little ones about naughty or dangerous surfing.

She doesn't NEED one, but I wanna get her one cause she's turning out to be a little geek & I wanna encourage her.

No. No offence but I don't think this would be very popular. So what, whenever my kid asks to use my phone I do a nandroid and flash to a kid rom or iOS???? I don't thinks so.

Like I said earlier try kid mode from the market. It's kind of a launcher in a way. You set it up so that your kid only has access to certain apps. They can't make calls can't even run the browser unless you allow it. I have it on my phone and I love it.
Me babay. Make bebe romz, ¿k?

I was just looking for exactly that. For those that are wondering why a kid would need a smartphone etc., it's not the point. They wouldn't be using it as a smartphone. I have an old SGS1 that I don't see why I couldn't repurpose as a media-player device + for my daughter. An ipod would do the trick but 1) this thing would kick the pants off any ipod I've seen so far capabilities wise (16GB built in, microSD slot up to 32GB, bigger higher resolution screen, play whatever media format you put in it, etc.) and with voodoo sound even the sound quality is better, 2) it's not made by Apple, and 3) I've already got it. I will try the kid mode launcher another poster mentioned below but I think there could be a market for this judging by the amount of kiddie tablets etc. that are on the market now and way cheaper if you already have a device or can pick one up used. Will post back after trying the kid mode deal.
Sounds interesting. Maybe one that is baby proof. So that they can't mess things up like send unwanted messages or delete stuff or make calls. Not so I don't have to watch them but so that I don't have to keep taking it from them
Nova will accomplish all this stuff, or other apps. You just hide apps you don't want them using. Like market, system apps... Etc. The only issue would be browser. But I'm sure that could be dealt with also. And yeah.... If they are sharing the parents phone... What good would a safety rom be when I need my phone. And if it's their phone... It's simple to kid proof. My 5 year old has an s2 we didn't need anymore. It has Netflix, some games, some videos on it.... And just about every thing else is hidden. Never had an issue with her getting into things she shouldn't. As far as games that can lead you to market and purchases.... There's a password for purchases and generally I just get rid of those games.
Anyway.... No, the kids rom would never be made.... But really, once you kid proof your device... That's basically what you have. So there's no point.

Exciting stuff!
$16.80 is a little steep, but it's probably worth it.
It seems the widgets don't work right now.

Damn, that is expensive. I really wanted to try this when I first saw it but for that price, I dont know if I will take the leap now.
Yeah, its one of those products that would greatly benefit from a trial period, with the full version. Let you try everything, just for a limited time. Don't know if that's possible for them...

I made the leap - pretty sweet so far. the widget bar is kinda buggy. when i installed the widgets, they all showed up in one spot so i can't choose which one i would like to add.

few other things i noticed:
-only default theme is available (not surprised here)
-very VERY smooth with neat animations
-takes a little to get used to (i keep tying to swipe left and right on the main launcher screen to change screens - that's not the case anymore)
-for the weather it says i'm in a city 20 minutes away
-hitting menu brings up: add, manage apps wallpaper, themes, tsf homepage (brings up browser), and system settings
-cool animations, kinda like what one would expect in golauncher
-after downloading new app, the app shows fire on it like advertised - however, the fire doesn't animate while in the launcher unless you switch screens. not too worried about this lol.
-doesn't look exactly like the one on the video they provided months ago. not a good or bad thing as the changes are only minor.
-giant button at bottom right is cutting off one the bottom-left-most app. can't see the whole thing.
kinda like spb shell (from what i've read), there aren't many settings like other launchers.
Well I couldnt hold back, I bought it for the 15 min refund time and well, I refunded it. It was extremely smooth. Loved the animations, hated the price. Way too much for something that doesnt give you a lite version to get used to before making the leap.

I’m curious about what impact this launcher has on the battery life.
If you could post your thoughts after you have a few days to let it set in, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
They are smoking crack asking that much for a launcher when you have Go and other launchers for free.

ok, not a problem.
as a side note, one thing I do NOT like is that the capacitive search button doesn't do anything

You have to keep your finger on it, after a sec it pulls up voice search options.
I am considering buying it.. It looks good and have nice gestures. 9.99 should be the price tho

I paid for and downloaded this yesterday. After upgrading from CM9 Alpha 3.1 to Alpha 4, the app no longer shows up in the market, not even in the list of apps I have paid for. Very curious.

for today, I took my phone off the charger at 11am, and it's now 8:20pm - I still have 41% battery street moderate use, GPS and wifi on. Compared to go launcher that I was using, it seems it has better battery life. However, one day isn't long enough to tell.

I can't wait to publish some apps those guys are already pushing 16 grand and they just released it lol

Personally, I hated it. I think it disrupts work flow. Im curious to where they are going to take it.
