I use my evo 4g for yes regular phone tasks. But most importantly for music. At work I play music on it all day. I've already figured the Tiamat SBC Kernel gets me the best battery life so far. I do have a 3800 mah battery also. I've recently been on an ICS rom kick, and been using BR's 5.6 beta. Major issue though is pandora keeps causing fc, restarts, static in speaker. I don't want to have to switch to slacker/iheart.
I just want to know what Rom's are recognized for working the best with Pandora, having the best battery life, overall being the best media players.
Also I've been using the DTS sound. But on occasion using Volume+ app for louder sound (i work in a butcher shop, huge fans cause alot of noise and i need it a bit louder). Any tips from you guys?
Thanks!
Is it against the rules to bump?! I hope not haha!
MikG 3.0 and TommyTomatoe's Classic Supermagic Preview are both SOLID ROMs with great battery life, speed, and stability.
IMHO those are the best ROMs overall if you can do without the many bells and whistles of the ICS and Sense 3.5 ROMs and other ports.
I'm on Classic right now and I underclock my CPU to around 600 and 800Mhz and battery life is fantastic and it's perfect for Pandora, as my EVO is used primarily as an Internet radio for my car.
Hope I helped!

I just got my droid incredible and I rooted it as soon as I got it. I've tried almost every rom in the "official rom" thread. I can't seem to figure out which one is the best for battery life. Right now I'm on myns 5.2. Any insight would help.

I was using miui au 1.1.7 and had great battery life. Miui isn't for everyone though. I just installed the latest cm7 gb build so well see

It really depends on the kernel that is flashed with the ROM as well, in general ROM's that are AOSP tend to have better battery life because all the Sense stuff that syncs constantly can drain your battery, but alot of devs have found ways around this by getting rid of the extra Sense junk.
But IMO switching kernels gives the biggest difference
Happy Flashing
it trully is in the kernal and somewhat dependant on the rom.. like dude said.. warm is a badass rom.. i think i'm still using warm rls4, forget which kernal.. but find a decent one and use a cpu tool to setup profiles to control your kernals speed and usage.. with the right settings you can squeez some juice out...
lou's senseless rom with his #4 kernel is awesome
Skyraider 3.5 for sense or I'm having great battery life with cm7 w/ stock launcher (doubt it makes a difference on battery life but might)

Like others have said, it's mostly about what kernel you are using. Some kernels reduce the amount of voltage the CPU uses to save battery as well as underclocking it when its not in use to save even more battery. I've used Skyraider 3.5 with Incredikernel and it has given me the best battery life, and I've used quite a few different kernels.
If you choose an AOSP ROM (like cyanogenmod) try invisiblek's kernel.
Best battery life to date is my current setup, Senseless Redemptive Revolution with Lou's #6. I can get 24-26 hours with normal usage not watching what I do. Recently, I reinstalled Juice Defender, and as I have always been a skeptic of it, if it is set up correctly, I am seeing a very noticeable increase in battery with no real side effects. FYI.
For Me, it was Cyanogen 6.1 stable and invisbilek's #28 for the kernel, but play around with it and see what works best for you, now that you are rooted, you can add any rom and kernel that you want and find out what works best for you, rembember, everyone's phone and usage are different, what works for me may not be best for you.
Thread closed.
Reason: The reason we close what's referred to as "Best ROM Threads" is because the vast majority of the type end up a nasty flame fest. The reasons should be obvious. It's really a matter of opinion, and then you get the fanboys of certain devs chiming in, and well, you get it. You did nothing wrong (besides posting in the wrong sub-forum). My advice is try a few and make that choice yourself. It's easy to find the most popular ATM, because they stay on page 1 of the dev sub. That doesn't necessarily make it the best, however. Give some a shot and see what's best for you. Good luck.

I have come from the ERIS and as far as kernels go the Incredible has a lot more to offer. This leaves me confused as to which would be the best. I currently and running latest nightly of cm7(smooth) and 2.6.38.6-Tiamat v4.03 with chad0989's voltage tweak download. Nothing to complain about really but with all the undervolting and voltage tweaking and updated drivers etc i get kinda lost in the mix.
My question is what do most of you prefer for a kernel setup that provides you with the most stable experience for the way you use your phone?
If this helps I like my phone to be responsive - and if batt life suffers a bit then thats not a big of a deal. I use my phone to stream googles beta music cloud thing, watch some netfilx, play some angry birds, make some calls and a few texts. Nothing overwhelming.
Thanks for all your help!
For cm7 my favorite is Chad's kernel, overclocked to 1.113 with smartass governor. He's working on a new governor called ingenious and when that comes out, it's going to be excellent.
I have always had good battery life and performance with this setup. Hope this helps!

I have been using it for a week now and have to say VERY happy. Who else??
I love it! Should have ran this when it was released!
i absolutely love this ROM, very fast, stable, and just to my liking. I just have to figure out whats causing my batt to drain so fast. i didnt have that problem when i was on cm7 rom. Is anyone else experiencing the batt drain
The Sense ROMs like Skyrider and Newt's stuff definitely look slick and have some nice features, but I can't sacrifice the performance that I get with AOSP. Using default kernels with no overclocking, my quadrant scores are about 50% higher using an AOSP ROM like CM or MIUI than they are with any of the Sense ROMs I've tried. At the end of the day I'd rather get the snappiest performance possible than pretty widgets.

Implying quadrant scores equals high performance.
I'm using skyraider and absolutely love it. I thought stock was snappy as hell, and skyraider is still slightly better. Excited for those guys to release a new version, but I'm in no hurry. These guys really went all out to truly give you that added experience of a custom ROM. Especially the notification bar.
Battery life has been excellent, too. Someone mentioned battery drain, but I'm squeezing well over 30 hours with moderate use. Absolutely no complaints

The AOSPs are nice and light for sure but they all have headphone and BT issues. Deal breakers for me.

Um, no. That was your inference, not my implication. Benchmarking is still useful as a metric though; otherwise we're all just sitting around talking about subjective stuff like "feel".
We can talk about stuff besides quadrant scores - for instance, I have much more free system ROM running AOSP than Sense. But really I was just sharing my two cents, if you disagree then you should run a Sense ROM, I promise I won't try to stop you.

SkyRaider and the Gingerbang.....the only two roms with ZERO problem, I'm running Gingerbang and my wife has Skyraider, I can flip a coin and be happy with either one, both of them are rock solid. I have tried them all and wouldn't use anything else as daily driver.
I have been running skyraider zeus for awhile now it has no problems everything works an my battery life is better on this usually around 30 to 40 hours on moderate use an it works good with my slingbox
Same here...loving the Skyraider! Tried MIUI and the Virtuous ROM and they had several issues for me. Skyraider it its for now.

I have ran gbread leaks since they dropped, then when the ota hit I was using kernels. Now some kind development have modified some new kernels w UV and HDMI but recently I flashed back to my old faithful myns rls5 w netarchy 4.3.4 cfs no UV and SBC.
I guess to get to my point, why is the battery just sooooo much better. I lost very few things going to froyo. It is not as snappy at the same clock speed but it still gets it done. I have been on wifi and 3g today and the total at 12 hours is only 77%. I have downloaded roms, taking pictures, messaging. I am currently on all the latest radio, pri, NV and it sleeps great. Is the SBC that much better? Always ran SBC before gbread and on aosp but nothing has gotten me the same battery life that froyo has. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If its just due to SBC who do I need to talk to to beg to modify a kernel to achieve this? A bounty, lol, PayPal? Microsoft points? Really I love my Evo and it would be a while before I'm getting rid of it.
I can see a few benefits of being on the latest operating system but right now, my battery really negates any of the reasons. And please, if I had the time I would research more on going it myself but married, kids, jobs, mortgage etc etc my time is slim enough as it is. Thanks for anyone with ideas or help to try to get this into effect as we as a community would all benefit. I'm not here for an SBC vs non SBC debate. I have ran it for almost a year w no issues. I will just buy more batteries. My old seidio 3500 is still running flawless as is my stock Evo battery.
Oh yeah, kudos to anyone that read the whole thing hahaha
well if the question is if you can get good battery life on gingerbread then I get pretty good battery life with MikG 2.52 and the aggressive freedom kernel. I also use Juice Defender... You can download it from the market.
I also have been on Mik. Great rom. I used to think it was just SBC but it may be more. Froyo just doesn't seem to require as many resources to produce. Battery for me just seems better overall. I'm 18 hrs @ 65% on an extended w pretty decent use. Dunno. Just seems like going forward in os should translate into better everywhere. I thought SBC would get to gingersense. All I heard for months was waiting for source. Then source gets here and it must be harder to make work as well as the froyo kernels.
Really just kinda wondering others experiences
Ironically, I was sitting here last night thinking the same thing. On a good Froyo ROM, Koni Elite III for example, with NetArchy SBC HAvs More, and a conditioned 3500mAH battery, I could use my phone for 2-3 days without charging.
My setup below is OK, but still, I play a simple game like Klondike Solitaire for an hour and I'm down 15%. A 20 minute phone will make a major drop and texting someone for an hour or so is good for about a 20% drop
I have been on CM6 for almost a month. Great battery life and awesome 3G speeds. Something I was not getting with any GB ROM. By the way, using the stock kernel.

I made a test a couple weeks ago, just trying to compare Synergy with and without an SBC charge. Without any question SBC makes a huge difference in longevity of daily use charges. The thread is back a few pages and makea for good reading.

I think it has a lot to do with the kernel you decide to use.
hi evo owners, my girlfriend has an evo 4g and she is always complaining about how slow it is and how fast her battery drains. (she's a pretty heavy user)
so i come to you guys for help..
which ROMs are you running that are showing the best battery life i can get out this thing and are they stable for day to day use. (being as its not my phone and she knows nothing about rooting. i wont be able to follow updates as ofter as i do on my GSII)
Im just looking for a great stable build with the best battery battery life.
any and all input is really appreciated, thanks
I am using MokeeOS, right now. pretty much everything is working and getting good battery life. Based on gingerbread. see the forum below...

Swagged out stock is a clean fast Sense 1.0 rom that i've been using for months. There's a lot you can customize so you can get some better battery life. In general, the stock battery is what it is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258932
I like any of the sense 1.0 roms for quickness, battery and responsiveness. Classic rom, Digital Karma, Nitrous. U use Set CPU and make a profile for screen off. Use power save governor if kernel allows so while locked it will only run at lowest speed. This is helpful on any from though. Hope this helps.
I feel more like I do now then I did then.
I've been jumping back in and forth with JMZ's CM9 ROM and Cyanogenmod's CM7. I never had a Sense phone, so this was my first. After being with the OG Samsung Moment for about 3 years, until the developers fled, I was so used the classic UI. When I was introduced to Sense, I never stuck on to me. Luckily, I barely got this phone this year, meaning most CM7 ROMs were stable with ICS at hand. If you a Sense guy, I would recommend the Classic ROM or the Nitrous ROM. Nitrous gives more of the original Sense experience, but the Classic ROM gives really impressive battery life. It has a lot of available tweaks to play with. My ONLY problem with the ROM is the boot sound LMAO. I never thought i could hear my phone be that loud.
I, too, am running jmz unofficial cm9, & it's great for me but maybe not for her. The issue with battery life, however, is not the ROM; it's more likely the screen & radios that are killing it. My solution has been two-part: using Juice Defender to customize data activity, & larger aftermarket batteries (ChiChiTec - Amazon).
ive been using most of decks roms lately, but if i had to choose a reliable rom it would be synergy. its a little outdated but everything works.
Digitalkarma v7 fast smooth and everything works
