GSM Version of the Phone - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi There,
I'm going to be purchasing a GNexus to replace my worn G2 soon and I don't want to ensure I'm getting the GSM Nexus.
Just to confirm is the i9250 the GSM version of the device?
Also I was planning on buying an Otterbox for it as well. I remember hearing that there was a small size difference between the LTE/GSM versions. Something about the thickness I believe, is there anything I should be concerned about?
Thank you!

That's correct, the Galaxy Nexus I9250 is the GSM version.
I have the Otterbox Commutor for my I9250 and it fits perfectly! You shouldn't have any concerns about purchasing one.

Be careful with Ottorbox.

I had a Defender and got rid of it real quick after watching that.
Commuter cause damage too? I dont know, but just a heads up.

Wow thats terrible. Wondering if they just made the case for the i515 (which is slightly thicker) then sold it for the i9250 too and it doesn't fit properly?

I've had no issues with the Commuter after using it for over a month and a half. The phone fits snugly in the case and doesn't slide around at all. It also doesn't have the front piece that scratched the screen of the phone. The Commuter comes with an adhesive screen protector that you apply directly.
I can definitely understand your concerns though, the defender looks pretty terrible.

I've got the rearthke slim matte black case and lovee it

Galaxy Nexus Case-Mate Barely There Review

Hey everyone,
I've seen a couple of people say they received their Barely There cases, but no pictures or reviews. I attempted to contact Case-Mate via twitter along with others to ask when they were selling it since the case was already being sold through 3rd party channels. They stated those must be "preorders" as the cases aren't ready.
Well - I ordered one of these supposed "preorders" on eBay and the case arrived today... so much for Case-Mate knowing what's going on with their own product.
I did a video review you can see on YouTube here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joJ2...text=C241afUDOEgsToPDskK0QAnQlbjsSJm_K3Pq2wWK
I'd like to make it a point that I believe this was indeed made for the Verizon version since it just doesn't fit quite as tight and fitted as every previous Barely There case I have purchased. It's not a BAD fit, but it just isn't perfect. If you have any questions, let me know.
** Update **
After using the case for a bit, I have to say I am simply not satisfied with the fit. The phone doesn't feel right with this case and the difference in fit between the GSM and VZW version is too much for me. The fit just isn't nice enough to justify the price.
Thanks for the review. Was thinking of picking one of these up, but now that I know the 3rd-party vendors are selling the Verizon version, I'm going to wait until Case-Mate (hopefully) officially releases a GSM version.
Interesting I just received my pre order from Clove in the UK and it does seem as if it should be for a slightly thicker phone. It sticks up about 1mm around the sides of the screen. Checked the box and it says GSM version.
Not used these cases before any previous users, is this normal?

I can't speak for this case, but my buddies who have Casemates Barely There for their phones always tell me one of the features of the case is to offset it if placed face down to protect the screen

Have a look at this listing I found on eBay:
Case-mate Barely There Case for Samsung Galaxy Nexus i515/Nexus Prime i9250 - Wh
Feature 1 : Compatible: Samsung Galaxy Nexus i515/Nexus Prime i9250
That probably answers why the case wasn't snug fitting, it's made to accommodate the larger size of the i515 for Verizon.
I'm using one that I ordered from thecellguru and I don't see any issues with it. I'm definitely not worried about the phone coming out of the case accidentally and wouldn't really say that it fits loose.
The case does have a bit of a lip coming up higher than the screen, but most cases have that so in the event that you drop it screen-down the case will take some of the impact.
All in all I'm quite happy with the case, it has a good texture, not sticky/rubbery, is very thin and adds little bulk to the phone.
I ordered one, but I'm sending it back. Its definitely designed for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Its just slightly loose, and leaves small gaps for dust/dirt to creep in... Its a shame because these barely there cases are the best. Hopefully there will be a GSM 9250 variant in the future.
For Verizon GN users, this will be a great case. For GSM its just decent.

I have to say that after trying it for a bit I am rather disappointed with the fit. The phone is just too easy to flick off the case and doesn't feel nice and fitted like an authentic fitted Barely There case fits.
I can't recommend this for GSM GN's for the price.
Wonder if this case would work well with the extended battery, I'm thinking about getting the 2100 mah battery from VZ.
I want one of these but I dont think I will be getting this soon. I want it to be snug and fitting, how it should be.
I have the actual 'Barely There' case and I'm not completely satisfied with it. The fit doesn't feel or look right on the phone. I'm pretty sure if I ever dropped the phone the case would come flying off easily.

Otterbox Commuter REVIEW

so as you guys know , I made the review for the defender and now its time for the commuter!
Very sleek, sexy and portable case. Minimum bulk while delivering great protection. A little slippery on the back but i can handle that
For me..ill take this case over the defender any day of the week.
Enjoy!
http://youtu.be/cm1qbkTA-2A
I got mine a few days ago and it's great. It doesn't make the phone to bulky at all and looks and feels great.
I convinced my brother to buy one after I dropped (test) it shoulder-high on the ceramic floor, twice. Still shiny new. The past reviews that I read were pushing me away from the commuter but I can honestly say it delivers protection and it's not that bulky. It doesn't pick up that much dust, and my phone is always in and out of my pocket. also, when you get the hang of it, you can put the case and remove it in 2 seconds. I don't know why people were hating on it. I don't use the extended batteries, gsm.
Has anyone crammed a VZW Gnex with the extended battery into the Commuter? Right now I'm just using a cheapo gel skin, but I'm in and out of the case a lot and it's starting to stretch.
Those cases make me cringe. Such beautiful phones being destroyed by cases.

I Rather rock a case than to have a destroyed phone
Honestly Im a HUGE fan of rocking my phone naked..however I cant afford a new phone every time I drop it (and with my dropping skills it happens pretty often). Thats why i stick with the thinnest cases possible that still give good protection (sgp, diztronic, commuter, etc)

Yea I have it and it fits fine. You may want to take the battery cover off. That's what I do
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Same here. If you choose not to cover your phone, that is your given right. However, when you have an unlocked device you're running a big enough risk as it is.
Also the VZW users may want to check this guy's mod out.
http://youtu.be/q-Z1tiotZFg
i had the commuter for my captivate and decided to try one for my gnex but returned it. it is one of the best fitting dual layer case that ive tried but i dont like how the outer hard shell is so slippery and the lines down it make it look cheap. the case was just as slippery as the naked gnex.
i bought the incipio silicrylic instead, it doesnt fit at tight as the commuter but is a bit thinner since the lip is not as high. the silicrylic feels so much better to hold with its rubber coating on the hard shell and exposed silicon on the sides and top. another downside is the incipio attracts more dirt than the commuter but its not as bad as some people say.
I had this case...pushing the buttons thru the case was a pain so I returned it! And pulling the battery is a true *****! In terms of protection, its great though! No doubt! I don't use a case anymore but I highly recommend if you're in the US to just go to ur local Verizon store and grab an incipio, fits better and pushing the buttons are easy! Plus they give u a stand too! Although I returned that also cuz this phone is too sexy and sleek to cover up, in my opinion of course!

Commuter with no battery back fits well. Best IMO.

I bought my GNex slightly used (1 month old), the previous owner had the Commuter one the GNex from day one, which was cool because I knew I was buying a used device that was most likely to be in mint condition... and it was. It has GREAT protection and IMO the corners having the interlining exposed was a great design because if/when you drop the phone, it's most likely to land on a corner first.
THAT said however... I'm currently NOT using it and decided to go with something slimmer ONLY because I've developed a habit of typing ONLY with Swype with ONE hand, it started when I had the Nexus ONE... and I got pretty good at it... The problem is... the GNex being bigger, Swyping with one hand is now more of an effort because I don't have big hands. WITH the Commuter case, it was simply more work... I'm keeping the Commuter for now, and would totally still be using it if it wasn't for the Swype thing.

SGP Ultra Hybrid Case Review [Eclipse White]

I've seen a couple threads where people ask whether the Ultra or Neo Hybrids are better for the Nexus.
Well I just got the Ultra Hybrid one and I must say that I love it!!!
I explained it all in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHjQdA1ueaY
But I just can't say enough how great it feels in the hand and how high quality it really is for a case. I usually never want to spend more than 10 bucks on a case, but if you guys are looking for a high quality case and don't mind spending about 25 bucks with shipping and all that, then I highly recommend this one!
Hope this has helped!
Thanks for making me spend £14!!!
EDIT: Could you also post the pack of screen protectors you use here? Also interested in trying some "good cheap" ones!
yeah i got my soul black one last week, i really like it to, apart from the power button especially it does tend to press with the slightest touch.

Here's my buddy's video on how to apply these types with no bubbles. Mine looks like there's nothing on the screen when I followed these exact instructions. Just use a credit card instead of fingers like he did.

It kinda does, it just won't be a perfect fit. On the side of the phone, it'll be slightly higher than the brim of the case. That's all.
How sensitive are the buttons? Can you press them accidentally just by casually holding the case?
Does the case edge totally cover the bezel edge? Reason I ask is I'm getting a white nexus, and I want to know if I'll see a little white peeking through or not.
Thanks for pointing out the screen protectors. Picked up a set!

No not really, you'd have to squeeze a little. It's easier to press the buttons with this case, but you still have to put a little effort to do so. I got used to it though after a day or two so it doesn't bug me as much as it did on the first day.

It would, the bottom and top of the phone would be under the lip of the case, but the sides wouldn't. It would be a little bit higher. But the screen wouldn't hit the surface if you were to lay it flat since the Nexus is curved.

No, but I've seen it on with the GSM 2000maH extended battery and it fits, but the sides are above the rim a little bit. So I'm just assuming it would sorta fit the CDMA one. But I would really only get this for the GSM if you want a perfect fit.

Hey mack, this case should be here in the next week or two as it's coming from abroad.
Just wanted to ask how tight the lip/rim is against the screen? I currently use the Diztronic TPU (Rev2) case and the lip is very tight which causes my XO skin to peel in the bottom corner slightly.

The thing about this one is that it doesn't "hug" the rim of the phone. It's raised above it so that if you lay the phone flat it protects it. This is good because like you said, it won't peel or bother your screen protector or whatever you may have on it. So it'll be perfect for you! Let me know how you like it once you get it.

Is the Galaxy S2 HD LTE even a phone in the US? It's not right, just international?
I have an extra SGP Ultra Hybrid case for that phone, don't need it and wanna give it away. But does anyone even have that phone...?

Question about SGP ultra hybrid. Need good lte case.

I currently have the Verizon incipio case and the seidio active. The Verizon case turned a gross color from my jeans and the seidio case attracts so much dirt and dust and pulls it all into the case that it actually scratched my phone. Is the ultra hybrid better on these aspects? I'd be getting the white one. I just don't want another case that actually pulls dirt into itself scratching the phone.

Personally I got the sgp hybrid white one and right away was not happy with, I mean yeah it will fit on a CDMA version, but not perfect at all, were talking about that it feels like its gonna pop out of the case if you drop it or pull it out of your pocket.
I am a picky person and I didn't not like feel of it on my phone, of course I should of known that when. The seller stated is was only made for GSM version.
Since my experience with I wouldn't recommend it, speciality since its pretty pricey.

Sorry I didn't respond away bud, well after buying the sgp ultra case white, I should of learned my lesson but didn't lol.
I bought the Neo hybrid sgp white and I came out bad on my LTE Gnex in the end, it will fit with the standard battery but you will have to play around with it(stretching ). But the more time with it, it will get loose and you won't have a good feel. So regardless how sexy it looks, I recommend staying away from it.
I recommend the ringke slim extended battery case for a very slim feel and look (plus has covers for headphone jack and charging port)
And recommend the diztronic revision 3 tpu case which fits all around the case and has cutouts for everything.

[SOLVED]Otterbox Defender Case Compatibility

Ok ,so there is only one option on the Otterbox website.Does it fit both the GSM and CDMA Nexus or is it only for one device?
According to the model numbers on the cases one is designed for the GSM version and a separate is for CDMA. That being said, be wary with the otterbox defender as it has been reported to actually scratch that phone as the phone sits in the plastic shell and does have a tiny amount of room for movement.

Yup.
I noticed this instantly, mostly when plugging/unplugging the charger. Installed the oem extended battery and now it doesnt move. As well dirt/lint always managed to get in the otterbox and bugged the hell out of me when is stayed in the screen, added a zagg protector and it doesnt do that, kept the otterbox screen protector too.
I have the gsm version as well. I added a couple small strips of microfiber on the inside of the defender and installed a zagg screen protector. I also removed the OEM otter box screen protector. The setup works very nicely. No movement at all.

I bought this one from amazon and its the otterbox defender series,I have a sprint nexus. I have had no movement with my phone in the case it fits snuggly in there. I looked at ottbox.com and it was 50 bucks. While I do like the case and would pay that much, Its half the price on amazon.

Lol,I ordered mine from the same seller!Great to know there aren't any problems with it. Update:Just found out that the Sprint & Verizon stock batteries are 1850 mAh vs the GSM version @ 1750 mah.Shouldn't be much of a difference.
I decided to get the Kraken case instead. Its good so far and has no fitment issues with my GSM Galaxy Nexus.
Just received my Defender and I love this thing! Some of you were saying that the phone moves slightly but mine doesn't. Anyways, I'm not complaining. Thank you all for your help and advice

Just bought the purple version for my wife's phone. She beats the hell out of her phone so I figured the Defender would be the best choice. I'm really hoping there's no movement inside the case.
