[Q] Unable to install custom roms---Fixed Myself - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an R800a.
I am unable to use custom roms. I've tried installing SE.Tweaked and CM7. But whenever I try to install them, it won't boot.
With Se.Tweaked, it just stayed at the DoomKernel screen.
With Cyanogenmod, it gets to the CyanogemMod boot screen, with the android on the skateboard, and the animation just keeps looping.
I know it's not cutom kernals, because DoomKernel will install and work, alteast with the stock rom.

NEVERMIND.....
I was in a hurry and made the complete noob mistake of not wiping everything BEFORE installing Cyanogen.

Stuck at HTC screen after trying to flash custom rom

Please help I am stuck at the HTC screen after trying to flash to a custom rom. I can still access clockwork mod recovery. I tried the factory reset, I tried wainting but nothing...
i had the same problem today flashing leedroid 2.1, 3rd time got lucky and worked did nothing different at all
tried about 5 times already
Thank goodness I finally got the phone to work flashing with the AuraxTSense v7.6.1 ROM but this is not something I want. I want something closer to stock just with apps2sd and maybe wireless-n, ext4 abd updated apps like flash and googlemaps (no OCUV, since I don't believe in that, no theme mod etc)
i had that after trying to install leedroids 2.1 over the 2.0b so i had to do a full wipe and reinstall and it started to work

[Q] How to get out of Boot Loop [SOLVED]

Yesterday evening, I flashed the Ice Cream Pureness ROM using CWM(x-parts) recovery. After performing a full wipe as the directions instructed, I installed the ROM and rebooted. Boot loop. /facepalm
Since last night I have done a ton of research to no avail. The only advice I have found has been to reflash stock but flashtools errors everytime I attempt to flash.
Is this because I didn't install a custom kernal first?
If yes, do I have my first paperweight after 4 years of flashing ROMs with no issues like this?
Did you flash a kernel? Most people forget to do that.

weird issue - not able to install custom ROMs

this is just weird, as i have been installing custom ROM like crazy...
but for some time i was on CM 10.1.2 and didnt install any custom ROM, but i felt like coming back to TW based ROMs, so tried installing DeTmobilized 1.5, but phone stuck at boot screen, i tried to restart by pulling battery out but phone displayed "encryption failed" and kept on showing phone.apk stopped working (something similar). so i decided to ODIN to stock and start fresh, this time i tried installed Dandroid 3.8.1 and it worked, so i thought of giving DeTmobilized one more try, but again it got stuck at samsung letters at the boot.
so i decided to stick with Dandroid for a while, but now i cannot install that too. it gets stuck while booting. but if i ODIN to stock everything works fine on stock firmware, its only the custom ROMs that are not working.
i also tried repartitioning using PIT file along with stock md5 hoping that would solve this issue, but it hasnt.
i need help, i cannot stay on stock ROM.
thank you.

boot into recovery and wipe cache partition along with davik, that should fix the stuck
also do remember first boot will always take a while
also make sure you're using the latest custom recovery (either twrp or cwm)
i would also like to note here that i tried installing AOSP based ROMs also, and AOKP didnt work, got stuck at nexus like boot animation forever, but when i tried installing CM10.1.2 (which is what i was running when i tried to get back to TW based ROM) it worked perfectly, so for now i am back to CM, but i would really get back to flashing different ROMs and trying them out. just makes me wonder if CM is the reason i am not able to install anything else, just a thought...
has anybody else tried going to any other ROMs from CM 10.1.2?
your help is appreciated!

i have latest recovery , TWRP 2.6.0.0 and i have given more than an hour to boot up and still nothing. i have been flashing ROMs like an addict since i got this phone last year, but when CM 10.1 stable was released i stayed on it till today, but now i cannot install any other ROM, i can odin to stock 4.1.1 ROM or install cm 10.1.2 which i did just now, but no other ROM, either TW based on AOSP based is working...which is very weird for me.
Were you able to fix this issue at all? I am facing the same issue, in my case, the phone was encrypted on stock TW. I roooted and put in CM 10.1.2 and now when I try installing Dandroid, the install itself would work but I am struck at the "type password to unlock the screen". If I reflash CM10.1.2, I can login fine. Any pointers?

[HELP] Can't boot custom kernel

Hey!
I have a problem with my Xperia Play. It is definitely rooted and bootloader unlocked, etc, but when I flash any new kernel, it refuses to boot!
I've tried booting CWM recovery and wiping/resetting everything (cache, user data, etc) but still no dice. I've tried the newest version of LuPuS and Doomkernel, but still nothing.
I was on stock before, not sure what version though.
Never mind, I reinstalled stock firmware then installed Lupus and it worked. Must've been using the wrong stock or something, I don't know.
I had the same problem. Once I tried some ICS ROM and than I wanted revert to GB, reflash FW .79, flash Lupus, flash Gin2Jelly and my phone restarting again and again after kernel logo it always crashed. I must flash FW .79 five times and then it was ok and it's still ok, but in frist moment I thought that I break my phone.

[Q] Stuck In Recovery With NO ROOT???

So I was able to use Odin to flash over a custom rom and do a rooting method (Probably screwed up somewhere) it installed SuperSU. Super SU stopped working and i updated it and thought nothing of it since I could get to my Recovery. I made a nandroid and formatted system, cache, etc. I tried to flash over Task650's AOKP and the original stock rom. I have 3 different AOKP roms and the stock rom. I have tried to use a different recovery and everytime I do it wont let me flash roms so I'm stuck. It looks like my Recoveries see that there is no root access. how can i fix this?
