[Q] Apps dont get network connection! - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I used a flashback device I got from xda to flash my Xperia Arc from 2.3.3 to 2.3.2 to root my phone with gingerbreak. Then I updated to 4.0.2.A.0.62 with OTA, and everything was going fine for a while. But one thing I noticed was that when I turned my phone off and on after the flashback and the root, after the Sony Ericsson thing came up, my service provider (Rogers), didnt come up anymore. And then recently, my apps didnt get a netowkr connection from my data plan. Like the actual internet browser would, but the apps wouldnt. for example, I can log onto facebook via browser, but not via app.
PLEASE HELP!

BUMP
I have the same problem! Can someone help? (Xperia s, no root, no unlock)

I assume that you have locked bootloader. Did try stock GB and ICS on my arc s and they are ****!!
I suggest to install JJ's hybrid rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673489 It runs smoothly very smoothly, no lags, no data/wifi problems and battery is holding about 3 days (not so intensive usage).

Even with stock kernel i really don't want to unlock bl again..
cause JJ's rom ist flashable with locked bl ,too
did you tested it??

The device is updated. In Italy the update is not out yet!
Go to PC, open browser and go 192.168.1.1.
Or look you wifi router manual...because you need username and password to log in router settings.

[Q] Unable to set APN after flashing cm7

Unable to set or change the APN after flashing cm7. The list shows up blank and while I do get a signal and can make calls I cannot use cell data. I did the process from scratch twice and even flashed down to .368 which did not help. I saw a guy using Telia with the same issue on CM forums. I use AT&T with LT15a, bootloader remote unlocked to preserve DRM keys.

It seems like a known issue for few people. Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102523

Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
No you cannot manually set the APN. The problem has been acknowledged and fixed.
Fixed build is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18361893&postcount=1393
Hi,
this build does not work for me.
I´am the last with this bug?
I tried these builds
- update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaArc-LT15i-SELFKANG-RILTEST-signed
- update-cm-7.1.0.1-XperiaArc-LT15i-signed
- update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaArc-LT15i-KANG-signed.
Always the same with data connection.
My provider is t-mobile.de.
My sim-card is realy old, i think 10 years. Is this the reason?
regards haudegen
Yeah actually a sim that old will never work with 3g. I learned this on T-Mobile in the US. From what I understand there is a 3g component in the newer Sims. Just get a new card.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
A new card solved the problem.

Tethering?

Why does my phone think it's being tethered? My Arc S is rooted on .42 Gingerbread firmware, stock UK ROM, deleted a few files/apps, and those are about the only changes I've made.
But recently when I use the 3G on my phone (not wireless, but data) after a while it diverts to my service carrier's page about tethering and how it is not allowed on my plan (which is true).
I phoned up my carrier thinking it must be a problem on their end, the guy told me it to try my simcard in another phone and see if the same thing happens- It didn't, I was able to browse with no problems at all. Put the sim back into my Arc S, and after about 30 seconds of browsing I get diverted again. He told me it may be a problem with my phone and I should factory reset.
Obviously I don't want to do that as I will lose root plus ROM plus all my customisation (Supercharger, Go Launcher etc) so what could be causing the problem? I've been using it fine for a long time and then this happens....
Bump?
Have you check your user agent in yout phone navigator? It should be android and not desktop

If it was a problem with the firmware wouldnt the problem have appeared straight away, rather than after a few weeks?

Porting issues

Ok so I got permission to port 2 ics Roms they both load. And work my texts send and receive no problem I have no 3G data. Also, my phone apk when I try to call or or receive calls will force close severely it will either quit eventually or I have to reboot my phone to stop it any ideas on how to fix these errors. I I'm trying to port from the Xperia R800i to the R800x
Sent from my Play using xda premium
Why are you trying to port ics to R800x? They are already compatible. Try flashing just the baseband from 2.3.4 R800x firmware on flashtool. And see if you get service then on your ics.
I have service just not the 3G data part and the phone force closes so I can't make calls
Sent from my Play using xda premium
I already have ics on my phone now I just want to try other roms

I'm rooted with Locked Bl, I have no intention of unlocking it, And I agree it keeps cutting out and I'm going crazy. I'm at home 98% of the time, so I'm connected to Wi-Fi. Definitely the most annoying thing when it keeps disconnecting.

I've used this"Cross Bread" thing, and it hasn't changed much. The cut out happens less, but still happens.

Copying wifi modules from another ROM doesn't require you to unlock your bootloader. Just download a zip from a firmware that used to have better for you, extract the modules (he already said where to find them) and copy them to your phone (you need to be rooted, but that's not unlocking and completely reversable, just remove superuser if you don't want to be rooted anymore).
