Hi guys!
Excuse me before if my english is bad but I'm an italian teenager!
That's it: my Xperia Arc has a little problem.
When I'm a little away from mi access point, my Arc get a Wifi connection (limitated connectivity) and I can't use my Wifi connection.
Why can i improve my wifi range from my arc? With and iPhone and a Nokia N95 this problem didn't happen.
It's so important. I tried to follow lots o tips in androidforumdotcom but the problem still continue to afflict my phone.
PS: with the cyanogen mod did this problem disappear or?
Tnx to everyone.
Is your phone up to date?

2.3.4 is the latest so run SEUS, PCC or the Flashtool and see if the update helps.

The device is updated. In Italy the update is not out yet!
Go to PC, open browser and go 192.168.1.1.
Or look you wifi router manual...because you need username and password to log in router settings.

Why does my phone think it's being tethered? My Arc S is rooted on .42 Gingerbread firmware, stock UK ROM, deleted a few files/apps, and those are about the only changes I've made.
But recently when I use the 3G on my phone (not wireless, but data) after a while it diverts to my service carrier's page about tethering and how it is not allowed on my plan (which is true).
I phoned up my carrier thinking it must be a problem on their end, the guy told me it to try my simcard in another phone and see if the same thing happens- It didn't, I was able to browse with no problems at all. Put the sim back into my Arc S, and after about 30 seconds of browsing I get diverted again. He told me it may be a problem with my phone and I should factory reset.
Obviously I don't want to do that as I will lose root plus ROM plus all my customisation (Supercharger, Go Launcher etc) so what could be causing the problem? I've been using it fine for a long time and then this happens....
Bump?
Have you check your user agent in yout phone navigator? It should be android and not desktop

If it was a problem with the firmware wouldnt the problem have appeared straight away, rather than after a few weeks?

Check your Carrier internet settings. APN, IP.
There are something you can do. Some gives you auto config when you text them with some code. Try googling your carrier 3g hsdpa internet settings.

You can find them under
settings-xperia-internet settings. Tap that with wifi on and mobile data+roaming activated
Flashing baseband does nothing to have with this

I just tried this using my Dell laptop and no issue. Running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.
As previous poster problem, need to check what kind of Wireless adaptor you have if it is the same problem.
I am using Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.
My problem is Internet is not working in Ultimate HD ROM.! I tried to replace cm10's apk-config.xml but dint work.. tried manually too, but dint work. Same problem faced for Samsung phones. They just used an app called GetRill to take an RIL backup from another -internet working- ROM it worked for them. But my phone is not supporting that GetRill app. So please help me..!
Thanks in Advance..!

I'm rooted with Locked Bl, I have no intention of unlocking it, And I agree it keeps cutting out and I'm going crazy. I'm at home 98% of the time, so I'm connected to Wi-Fi. Definitely the most annoying thing when it keeps disconnecting.

Copying wifi modules from another ROM doesn't require you to unlock your bootloader. Just download a zip from a firmware that used to have better for you, extract the modules (he already said where to find them) and copy them to your phone (you need to be rooted, but that's not unlocking and completely reversable, just remove superuser if you don't want to be rooted anymore).
