Seems like all the kernels I've looked at require either some proprietary app or scripts to set the voltage levels.
Are there any kernels for the T989 that support using ordinary programs such as SetCPU for undervolting?
I'm not aware of any. I've used set CPU with every kernel I've ever ran since my vibrant days. I've never seen.the option to undervolt.

I use fauxclock. For undervolting.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but can you run setcpu with the unrevolted kernel installed ???

Yes because perflock is.disabled

Ok I was wondering bc the Hydra kernel website says setcpu is not neccessary

I have undervolted v.05 and can't seem to reduce speed even with pureed lock disabled.. Can you write back on your success?
I have stock leak 2.2
So I have noticed lately since eco5 after I root and install a rom don't matter if I'm CWM3 or2.5 it gets really hot when I'm using data and while its on the charger.. and if its off the charger it still gets warmer than usual maybe its just me but any ideas? When I'm not rooted and am just stock eco5 it don't get hot at all :\ I'm lost here and could this cause damage?
(Sorry for the bad puncuation and grammer)

I should say also my set cpu its at on demad. 1ghz being my highest setting. 100mhz lowest I'm on syndicate 1.1.0 with vision kernel.

That's your problem, not all phones can handle scaling from 100mhz minimum, switch it to 200mhz and try it for a few hours.
Ok ill try that. Let you know ina few hours how it works ok thank you

Every time I try to overclock my phone using the built in CPU settings on cm7 it reboots. It wont go past 1113 when I try 1190 it reboots I'm using tiamat kernel.

That simply means that your phone doesn't like to be clocked that high. Evo's can get very unstable when trying to clock too high, and reboots is the most common symptom. Slow the clock speed down a bit and see what happens. Also, maybe try a different kernel. The Tiamat kernel may not agree with your phone. My Evo reboots randomly on any Tiamat kernel I've ever used, including the latest one. My Evo just doesn't like that kernel, on any governor, or any clock speed I've tried. Just make sure you don't have the 'set on boot' checked until you find where your phone is stable.
It does the same using savaged Zen kernel

I'd try lowering the clock speed a bit until it's stable. What governor setting are you using? Have you tried on any different governor settings?

Performance probably isn't the best idea when you're overclocking at speeds that are known to be unstable. Try using smartass or SavagedZen if you're on SZ. For Tiamat, use interactive or ondemand.
Do you really need to overclock, or are you just doing it because you can? My phone runs smoothly undervolted. I dropped SetCPU and just use Tiamat + Viperboy's scripts. I've heard that higher speeds cause instability - freezes, crashes, reboots - but have never experienced it myself.

Very interesting plainjane
Thanks.
How do I undervolt my GS2? Do I use SetCPU?
I'm currently using Gideons script. Works awesome. Look it up in the development section.

Do NOT use SetCPU. It keeps the 2nd core constantly on which equals terrible battery. Use FauxClock or Gideons script. I recommend -75 mV
Thanks for the help
Is that true about SetCPU? Or is it an old wives tale......? You decide.

I'm using set CPU with no issues and I get great battery life. Less then 1% hour drain with screen off.

So I noticed this switch in the submenu of Settings -> Battery
Quad Core Control
It says turning this on can help to extend the battery life, but what does it do exactly?
Also, when I did the tests on Antutu, there were no significant difference between having it on or off.
Anyone knows? Thanks in advance

Quad core control is a built in governor controller that LG decided to let us have. When turned on it pretty much changes the Governor to either "Powersave" or "Interactive." When it's off the Governor is either "Ondemand" or "Performance."
Right. And I am not 100% sure but I thought it also controls on how many cores it uses.

So it is not like the CPU control found on S3/S4/Note2 which undervolts the cpu and save energy that way?
Hmm. Is there a way to undervolt the cpu without rooting?
