That is quite a strange issue. I would fastboot flash your recovery, bootloader, radios, and stock rom. See if you can get everything back to normal. Check in your dev section (GSM or CDMA) for the guides.
so do u think i can use the odin to restore my phone to the original status and maybe will fix my phone ??? If I do the Odin do I have to root my phone again?

Use fastboot, it's safer, and yes, you will have root again. But when things get really screwy on my device, it is nice to start everything fresh.

do as he says
forget ODIN, fastboot is better, safer and Google supported.
my guess is that OP is suffering file from system corruption? that would explain bad nandroid?
@OP, if you copy nandroid backup to PC, can you access it just fine? There was even a dev that created an app that allowed for browsing of nandroid backups.
Ok guys thanks I'll try the fast boot and let u guys know if work

I saw CM9 was out and tried to use Rom Manager to upgrade. I was previously rooted.
It prompted me to install ClockworkMod first, which I did.
Then I downloaded the ROM (prompted me to select T-Mobile Galaxy S2)
Rebooted to take a backup, phone flashes Samsung once and then black screen.
How badly did I screw up?
First off why are u using rom manager to flash a rom? Rom manager is not a reliable app u should do it manually in recovery
The better way to ask would be how can I fix this, not how bad did you screw up. Hence the unhelpful answers.
Can you get into download mode or recovery manually with a battery pull and the right key presses?

Great answer to the question though... I wont blast you but honestly rom manager has been the cause of more problems for the very thing you just did than I can imagine. Leave that app alone and learn how to do things the for the lack of a better word (hard way). It is way more gratifying believe me.

You are right as well but ya know what a couple of smart ass responses to someone in this case will stick with him and hopefully he will never make a move like this again...
Ok now to help you, see if you can get into download mode and odin a recovery onto your phone. If not try and odin back to stock and start over from scratch. I am sure you have a backup on your phone so you can always restore that.
Now while your phone is being fixed do some reading up before you jump into things. Flashing is an addiction but it can also be a very expensive habit (If you know what I mean)
Edit: Just noticed Florida is up in here thick!
I've been flashing roms since MyTouch3G and Windows Mobile days.
I just thought Rom Manager was more dependable than that. It even prompted me for my device type...
I'm unable to get into recovery but I am able to get into download mode, so I'll revert with Odin and reroot this evening...

Yeah, I got it sorted out after I got home. Just re-flashed recovery, it's all good now.
Thanks everyone.
Looks like you had better luck than me, Rom Manager bricked my phone when I told it to do a backup.
Ok. So my phone was not factory resetting right. Could not mount sd ext was the error. I ended up formatting everything in CWM in advanced menus like an idiot. Do I just re flash something through odin to fix? My phone will not boot past the GS3 screen but I can still get into recovery.
You deleted whatever Rom and kernel you had. Put a Rom on your sd card and flash it through recovery.

Ok that definitely won't work. Now i plugged my phone into the wall, it wont charge. It will vibrate, show the battery icon with a loading icon inside then go black. Won't boot and looks like its not charging...... am I screwed?
Edit: I mean i guess i could charge the battery on a different s3 so i can boot back into recovery or dl mode but what from there. Is there any way I can restore all of the stock files? I'm at a complete loss for what I should do next...

what rom did you flash in recovery and what recovery are you using? what was the error you got while flashing a new rom in recovery?
as mentioned earlier, if you want to flash a stock rom, you'll have to odin it. you should still be able to flash other roms in recovery regardless of what you wiped. every time i flash a new rom i wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik-cache.
semi noob?
Think ur a little more than semi noob. If u wiped the system that is why you dont see a battery charging. Those files are in system. Which u wiped. U still have recovery so DL a rom, go there and flash it. You'll be back in buisness. Don't necessarily need Odin here but if you don't know what to with it u shouldn't be here yet. Go back and read up a little b4 u brick.
hey man if you still having problems pm i can help buddy!

I am always entertained by people being rude while trying to "help" I hope you feel better about yourself now that that is off your chest.
For the record. It is not as simple as flashing a new ROM. Doesn't work. Thanks for your very insightful advice though.
I need to find a way to get my battery charged for now. I will post more when i can get into my phone. Thanks for all the responses so far. I will try ODIN when I get my phone booted up but I'm skeptical about if it will connect to the computer or not since it won't charge. We shall see.
This is what you need to do.
First. The above poster is correct. IF you formatted everything, that means you probably formatted system. If you do this and dont install a ROM immediately afterwards, your phone will just boot loop since it has no system files to load. Flashing a ROM should fix this problem....unless the problem runs deeper. If you ONLY formatted your phone shouldn't be soft bricked....it simply has nothing to load besides CWM. If for some reason you do need to use ODIN to get your phone working again, watch this step by step video by qbking. Since I am new, and apparently an XDA criminal, I cant post a direct link. so search QBKING Galaxy s3 unroot on youtube.
P.S.
For future reference...make sure you know exactly what your doing before you start doing things in clockwork mod.
A 500 dollar paper weight will keep you up for a few nights, trust me.
I accidentally flashed Google wallet AS my recovery. A long 10 mins with odin and a stock root and my phone was exactly how it was before my accidental loss off recovery. Read up on odin, and only use pda function. One mistake and then you learn to check what you're ABOUT to do.

I decided to install Cyanogen Mod on my Nexus. I already rooted it and downloaded rom manager + titanium back-up. I watched a tutorial on how to download and install roms using rom manager and everything seemed to go as planned and Cyanogen 9 was installed. The phone automatically rebooted and the boot animation the Cyanogen started. But after a half hour I realized it was stuck. So I tried to go into recovery mode to restore my backup (of the stock) but when I went there, the phone automatically turn off. It's not when I click, it's just after a certain period. It even turned off while restoring. To make things worse, when I turn it on now, it's stuck on the Google logo with the unlocked slot at the bottom. I hope you guys can help me because I'm starting to freak out.

I did not delete evreything when I flashed
GSM version
rom was downloaded from rom manager
I backed up my stock rom
I did google but everything leads to bootloader which is broken

1.Don't panic
2. Try to go on bootloader then reset factory or fastboot then from pc flash recovery
3. Try to get back recovery then factory reset and flash backup

was it a nexus? maybe/probably not, but if it was, you should have used fastboot. it's officially supported by GOOGLE. if you want to flash a factory image, they tell you to use fastboot. why would we use anything else? a leak? that the community barely really knows anything about?
i'd rather use Heimdall!! (not sure i9250 is supported though.)

Can I reupdate manually using a External SDcard or something?

It should probably just reapply the update over again and hopefully fix things and keep her root. I hope this is the quickest fix.

ok that one wont trip it but if that is why she doesnt want root triangle away app will reset it
Problem didn't get fixed... I just don't get what could be wrong with the phone. It starts up fine, and for abotu 10 seconds it's fine but then something gets opened that must cause it to reboot. I don't know what service could be causing it to reboot. I wish I could at least backup all her data before the damn phone reboots itself.

Thank you so much for trying to help me through this. I really should have backed up her data, but I thought it was KIES and I wouldn't have to worry about any stupid problems happening.
First question is, is there anyway I can retrieve and backup her data without rooting? I know it's a longshot, but in recovery can I connect to ADB or something and extract stuff?
Second question, is there a update.zip of the jelly bean I could possibly give a try? I can still put and install update.zips through an external SD card.
I'm going to give the ICS firmware a try, hopefully it retains her data, but I've never downgraded before in hopes of keeping data. I just need to backup her text, phone, apps with kies and try teh update again.

Is there a sticky here that gets your phone back to stock and resets the counter? Or does rooting not affect the counter?

Root it. Use Triangle Away to reset counter and get rid of the triangle too. Also you could always Odin flash the firmware. Doesn't delete data... Done the same with my I9300. Wanted the XXELKC firmware and didn't delete data. Also worked with GF's I9305.
Its free on XDA from Chain fire and requires Super User. After doing that you can Odin that latest firmware and it'll be on stock.

Ive been in this position a couple times myself unfortunately. I formated everything internal/external SD cards and system, which left me with no bootable rom and no backup to backup from. (awesome)! so what i did one of the times this happended was 1. downloaded a rom TWRP flashable of course. 2. Placed the rom on my USB thumbdrive. 3. i had a usb otg stick that i was able to mount with TWRP and flash. and was back in business!!
another time i did this i used another phone (you could use your computer too if you have an adapter) I downloaded the TWRP flashable rom on to the microsd card, Stuck the card back in my phone and flashed it that way. again back in business!
Then of course there is the above mentioned way to Odin back to the very beginning with stock. Hope this helps and you get it figured out. But it does sound like your phone is totally fine, just need to figure out how to wake her back up. LOL.
Returning everything back to stock via Odin is the answer to your woed. As long as you're able to get into download mode (do not confuse download mode with recovery), you're golden.
