I flashed the HC update.zip, and it seemed to install okay. On the reboot however, it is stuck on the "android" screen. How long do I wait? or should I power down now and try the hard reset?

For me, after moving the locker down in 4. the bootloader enters Fastboot mode, not hard-reset.
And my tablet is still stuck on Android animation.
Any other ideas?
I am having the same problem. Instead of hard reset it just gets stuck in boot on the android screen...
ETA on the bright side, I am ablew to go back to ICS... guess no going back to HC for me. Hope the OTA works when it comes out.
I'm curious about the pa ca too.
I just bought a tab from Bestbuy last friday and that was at 2.008.04 (no pa ca)
However, that had camera problems, so i returned it and got another one. This one came with a really low SW rev.
I updated a couple times and now im 2.008.03 pa ca, and System update says i have the latest version, however i know for sure there is a .04 out there...
odd
Well I finally got mine back down to HC, turned out I was doing the reset wrong. For better instructions on exactly what to do with the hard reset, see this thread:

Yes, you can, but you will lose root and CWM and be back to a "stock" experience. You won't be able to root or install CWM again without downgrading.

Did you try doing a factory reset (volume down + power) after installing the new ICS update?
How do you get CM9 to go into "PC Software" mode? Right now the update software does not see phone is connected?
Thanks

Just to clarify, when you say it "didn't work", do you mean you couldn't get it to perform the factory reset? or that you did get it to do a factory reset but it didn't fix the problem?
I can confirm. I am on he leaked ICS and can't update to this version. I too get stuck at ATT Rethink logo. I went back to Leaked build.
I tried everything from putting the phone to download mode. Trying the "Recovery option". It seems like everything installs correctly but it gets stuck during the reboot process. Nothing I do can fix it.

Stuck on "Rethink Possible" screen
I had the same problem.
I came from the rooted leaked ICS trying to update to the official version and got stuck on the rethink possible boot screen.
The way I got my phone to work was via hard factory reset
1 Turn the power off.
2 Press and hold the following keys at the same time for 8 seconds: Down Volume Key + Power/Lock Key
3 Release the keys when the FACTORY HARD RESET screen appears. (I had to try twice to get it to work and the phone needed to be unplugged from PC)
4 Read the warning and press the Power/Lock Key to confirm.
5 Press the Power/Lock Key image to confirm once more
6 Wait for your device to perform a hard reset (don't worry if it seems to be stuck on the rethink possible screen. It may take 1-2 minutes and the phone will start up properly).

I couldnt agree with you more, seems like those added features to disable unused programs and save battery actually made it worse.
I might be the only idiot but I could not get it to work till I took sd card and sim out of the phone.
I had to restart after drivers installed and use another port on laptop as the old usb one won't work...weird.
Anyways, after removing sim and sd, all I had to do was use a new fresh port after restart of computer and it all went well till I got stuck on AT&T logo. After 5 minutes, I pulled the battery out and restarted with vol down + power button and did a factory reset and all is working well now.
Thank you very much
Hi,
I know your time is precious and I have already done hours of researching, googling, and downloading...
But believe me, no luck. I only found two 2.3 ROMs, one from this forum (but was a 'rooted' one) and one from SamMobile forum.
Both didn't work properly. I even cannot dial numbers (among other problems).
Can anyone, please, tell me from where do I find an official/good ROM for samsung captivate glide i927 ?
Sorry for taking much of your time, I really appreciate it.

Here is a good ROM from dman its stock ICS rooted (there is unrooted one at bottom of post if you dont want root) also it comes with CRT off i think so it looks cool when you turn off your phone. Hope it helps

Because I have tried the CWM method but I cannot boot into recovery mode, I can boot only into download mode.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me a link to a gingerbread ROM that is flashable from odin for i927.
I have tried this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391730
but it does not work properly (many errors appear)
I also tried the one from sampro.pl but still have many problems.

Maybe when I flashed the ICS and then I want to downgrade to Ginger, I need something more than just PDA in odin...
maybe I also need to change bootloader ??

I note after flashing: "cannot access csc...." something like that written just after flashing.... any idea?
You need to only press volume down and power button....try that to get into cmw

noob question...
Sorry to ask, but reading numerous forums has made me absolutely clueless as to what to do.
Long story short, My AT&T i927 is not rooted and i updated to official ICS via kies air and have been having multiple bugs, like the famous keyboard backlight issue (for which ive read the fix but was unable to implement it) and also, the pinch zoom gestures being of almost no use cuz they are THAT slow in response and the hd games on it have become extra laggy, the camera quality has become terrible.
I want to go back to gingerbread but dont know how so PLEASE, i request you to take few minutes out of your precious time and help me with one single post containing the step by step method and links to whatever it is that i need to download. I seriously appreciate this and would make sure this post is popular enough to not to be repeated again.
Eagerly awaiting your reply.
THANKS.

This isnt an odin version its a zip so all you have to do is flash it, but you want to make sure you have CWMR installed. I recommend the touch recovery because it makes it easier. Ill post link in bottom, also after you install you want to power off phone then hold power for 5 seconds and volume down to boot into recovery. To put CWMR on you need to use odin but once its on you will not need to use odin again unless another rom comes out that requires oneclick.

This seriously is a issue worth notifying to Samsung. They shouldn't have released Kies update for the phone if it as under development. This isn't anything like Samsung. Samsung always tests the build and then releases it. I hope some samsung Official falls upon this thread and replys us all.
hi everybody,
I'm usually more active on auto forums but I need your help.
wanting to install a custom rom, I'm a but lost in the manipulations. Last night when I wanted to turn on the tab (only with the power button), I had the google logo that was displayed at the top right and the small rectangle of recovery menu (start, recovery, reboot bootloader and poweroff). With buttons I could choose one of four functions. I had access to the recovery menu, when I choosen restart bootloader, it well reboot and poweroff worked well too. By when I clicked start I had a small line at the top left telling me "boot failed"
I try to flash everything thanks to a tutorial.
So I'm DL the original elements but still the same issue. Having struggled until 3am I give up. This morning when I tried to turn on the tab, I did even more than what I have explained below whatsoever with the power button or volume down + power nothing happens the screen stays black.
Any Ideas?
PS sorry for the language I'm french
If you bought it from a local store or if a local store carries it, I'd recommend just retuning for a new one. Haven't seen anyone having your problem. If it won't even turn on, then any store should exchange it, or return it, with no questions ask once they see how your tablet is behaving!!

No it doesn't works. For the time being my first to issue is to succeed to boot it at least as yesterday evening.
So if I'm understanding you correctly the Nexus 7 won't even turn on at all now, right? Try holding the power button down for at least 30 seconds and see if it will turn on.
Also, the Nakasig image is for the 2012 version of the Nexus 7 and won't work with the new one. The new 2013 version is named Flo but Google hasn't released the factory images for it yet. However, if you can get the device to power on and back into bootloader mode you should be ok as there are a few unofficial versions of the Flo image on the forum.
One last thing, to quickly boot into bootloader mode hold the Volume Down button while pressing the power button. But try just the power button for at least 30 seconds first to see if you can get it to turn on at all.

+1 Try plugging it in for awhile too. You want to get to the bootloader - the screen with the Android where you go through the options with the volume buttons. Once there, you can use fastboot to flash TWRP and fix from there. Again, stay away from the OLD Nexus files.

So you flashed everything from the file nakasig-jwr66v-factory-aebc7b11.tgz? It's for the 1st gen Nexus 7 Mobile version. It would also flash the bootloader and radio. I am guessing that flashing the wrong bootloader might have bricked your device. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.

the old nexus 7 or the new 2013 model with a camera on the back? is yours wifi only or 3g capable?
The only thing i can think of is to plug into your pc's usb port and hold the power button for 30sec.
Then unplug from PC and press power button for about 15sec and you should see the google logo - if not, i think your bootloader is bricked from flashing the wrong one.
If you do see the google logo, keep holding power and also press vol down as soon as you see the logo - should get you into the bootloader.
Messing up the bootloader is the only way you can brick a nexus, feel sorry for ya man
noob question: so you are using a Nexus 7 (2013) and you flashed an old-nexus-7 ROM on your device? If you're using the new one, here is the ROM for the new one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44054613.
I have just had the same problem. Flash the old nexus 7 kernel on the new one, luckily I fixed it
There is a different forum for the 2012 Nexus 7 here. This forum is for the 2013 version.
Hi,
I've flashed a new ROM (SkyDragon 10.1 + Sense 7, if it matters), followed the Aroma installer instructions, and then confirmed a reboot. Now I get this big green HTC logo with the red text, and it's been stuck at that for the past 20 minutes. Pressing and holding the power button does nothing.
I've made a backup using the bootloader before installing the rom, but how do I access the bootloader to restore it when it's stuck on this screen?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
OK, so apparently pressing Power + Volume Down is not the way to go, but rather Power + Volume UP, and then I only held Volume Down to go into Recovery, and from there restored the previous ROM and it boots fine. Still, I wonder what can be done to successfully install this ROM I want?
EDIT: I've downloaded another version of the ROM 10.0, instead of the 10.1 I was trying to install (which was available on SkyDragon's website but not on XDA), and it boots just fine!
So next time I'll only get my ROMs through XDA threads.
Thanks.

I think 10.0 has some significant bugs. Read the SD thread.
But 10.1 had a deal breaker bug for me as well. It wouldn't let me pick "Silent" for the Gmail notification, as the media picker screen (or whatever its called) was all screwed up.
Hi XDA,
I've had a MeMO Pad 7 (K01A, also known as the ME70C) for a few months now.
I upgraded to Android L 2 months ago, and now I regret it becuase it's extremely slow compared to KitKat. (And I miss the old notifications style ) Another thing is that when I updated to L, the bootloader was updated as well.. Is there any way I can downgrade to KitKat, or am I stuck with a slow device?
Thanks!

BTW I have tried flashing the factory image through fastboot, but it says 'Error'! When it progresses halfway through the process. It's probably because of the new bootloader, and I'm not sure what to do at this point..

Do you missed extra step? I cannot choose recovery. only normal boot
update: Seem like my button need to press a little hard LOL
Downgrade is successful. Thanks a lot.. 2 years stuck with this sluggish lag Lollipop now back to kitkat. I tried to search how to downgrade 2 years ago but never found until I decide to back restore to back to stock firmware and reroot this tab back yesterday. So I search how to root this tab back as I forgot the step (last root 2 year ago) and I found this tread. Try my luck and walla... It successful. Thanks @anonimovbg
Great thanks!
1.Simple instruction
2.Fastest downgrading ever done
3.Works great! I'm second owner because of update first owner - he bought new tablet. hahaha
thanks it worked. first tried from internal storage but error. then copied to microSd card and procedure worked. back to android 4.3 now.
