[Q] screen - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So does this phone really need a screen protector? And which extended battery is the best?

[Q] extended battery and screen q
Which would be the best extended battery and does this phone need a screen protector? I heard it has gorilla glass, is this true? (not sure if it's called like that lol)

yes it needs a screen protector it is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. meaning it can still be scratched if scratched hard enough.
best extended battery is probably the galaxy nexus extended battery from verizon for $25

That depends on it's owner. The Corning Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, it's not scratch proof, the risk is yours.

I keep my phone in a pocket all by itself. no need for a screen protector.

Didn't see an answer to the battery question but if you want a slightly larger one, you can get the galaxy nexus extended battery at a verizon store for 25 dollars or abouts. It can add a good hour depending on your usage. That is the only 'good' battery I think people can agree on getting. Other aftermarkets are probably not as reliable, and overstating it's capacity.
Personally, I say add a screen protector if you are worried about any type of scratches. If you are fien with them one day appearing, you can skip it. The glass is pretty good at resisting scratches.

Power skin

So when i got my sgs2 i figured the battery would be bad and ask if there was anyway around that. He showed me a cover that had a extra battery for it. At the same time he told me i could mess up my screen so i needed screen protecter. I learned that one wasnt true and now i wonder is there anything bad about the powerskin. Idk if it could over heat the battery say its fully charged and i put the skin on. Plus i charge my phone power off. Any help on this thing please and thank you.

For one how do you figure the need for a screen protector isn't true? Yes its gorilla glass, but its merely scratch resistant not scratch proof. Without a screen protector you will find that out. Now on the battery cover I always found mine ran hot when using it plus just didn't like it. I went with a OEM spare battery.

I get its not proof but i take care of my phone it has its own pocket. Yes stuff does happen but i watched a guy hit his keys on his phone over and over no protecter and no sctrach that was good for me. As for the battery kinda answered my question def. not worth useing but worth haven if the phone dies just power off plug it in and let charge for a bit.

Keys are really not what you need to worry about scratching the screen. Little specs of sand and such WILL scratch your screen. That crap gets in your pocket and you don't even know it. Next thing you know you have a scratched screen with no clue how it happened. Spend the extra $10 and protect your $500 phone.

Somebody needs to go back to grade school and learn about the hardness scale... I think it's called mohs scale or something. Unless your screen is made out of diamonds then i suggest you protect it. if you really want to test your screen then use your diamonds ring and scratch it against your screen.
I think many people fail to realize that glass has a pretty decent hardness scale and is stronger than most metals but is weaker than a lot of minerals found in sand.
Do you ever wonder why girls phones appear to get more scratched up than men? JEWELRY.

Grade school would be fun to go back, I get the point of it in my mind I was thinking if it could take a key hit then all the smaller thing would as well. It's all good that's why I like these forums the learning so I'll grab one no big deal. But the main point of this post was the battery case was hoping to hear more on that so far I'm just going to use it as a portable charger.
as for the phone price you guys didn't get any deals for it?

Amzer shatterproof screen protector

I have been hearing a lot of cases when our Galaxy SIII's screen has shattered when dropped that too not from a height. Then i heard of AMZER's shatter proof series and i pre-ordered it 3 days ago. Now my case protector has arrived and it is the toughest screen protector i have ever used. I was so lucky that i bought it on time. It was dropped by a kid with face on and nothing happened. This one is really tough guys.
Check this http://www.amzer.com/Amzer-ShatterP...-for-Samsung-GALAXY-S-III-GT-I9300-P94905.htm
It's definitely scratch proof, but shatter proof?
Yes I agree with the OP - knocked my sgs3 off and it hit the corner of the table and then floor - screen first - i have cracked by display on the sensation in a similar situation - this time not even a scratch and this thing sticks right on! Solid stuff here - will post a review later on! must order it guys only 29 bucks!

If it doesn't suck completely after 2 weeks it is better.
i have the verizon protector on mine, which doesnt go all the way to the edge, but when mine cracked, it rounded it self off when it ran under the screen protector and turned around like "ohh can't go that way" lol https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/386262_10151093476528557_832449593_n.jpg

I just noticed on amzer's site they posted a few videos - you got to see them to believe them - i will ask you guys to dump zagg hd - i have used it and it feels super uneven, can't play temple run with it on - this is as smooth as the glass itself!

Looks awesome, but for $29.99? I rather get the Spectre Glass screen protector for the same price.

Wasn't so impressed with the hammer or drill test BUT the brick test just baffles my mind. Hell, the corner of the brick even embedded itself into the damn thing and even tore n stayed stuck after peeling off the protector ? !

[Q] scratch remover?

Small scratch on my screen about a half inch in length. Are there any scratch remover solutions that are good with the gorilla glass? Or am I doomed to a scratch on my screen for the rest of my phone's life? Any help appreciated!
I never heard of scratch removers for a phone, it's a scratch. Best thing to do is get a screen protector because most likely you didn't have one on.

I don't they have a product like that, that actually works. I bought this scratch remover on amazon called like iDrops or something it claimed that it would remove most scratches off of my iPhone's plastic backing but it didnt work, and I lost 9.99 lol. Gorilla Glass is way overrated.. I cracked my first S3's screen and I have a couple scratches on my new one already. And its not like I throw my phone around or anything I took off the screen protector for like a couple of days and there were already a couple small scratches... but yeah I don't think they have anything like it haha.

Ok Thanks for the replies, guess I'll have to finally get a screen protector. Never had one for any of my phones. I did hear they hide scratches on the screen pretty well. Not sure how true that is but oh well.
Yeah depends which ones you get there's so many to choose from. Many are overpriced but really what's going to help in the end is getting the thought out of your head that there's a scratch there and it's gone lol. I'm very picky too so it would he extremely hard, and yeah I personally think the first gorilla Glass is actually better than the second.

I haven't heard of ghost armour, but I prefer spigen or realook. I have a zagg invisible shield on my N7, and it's awful. It feels tough.

neither- Xtreme Guard. Cheap if you get the right promo codes online and its strong.
I got the Spigen slim armor case and GLAS.tR screen protector this time around. Expensive for a screen protector, but this is a $650 phone after all. So much more luxurious than the plastic protectors... I don't think I could ever go back to one of those.

These aren't a bad option. I have use them since the Sensation with no complaints, only problem I ever had was with the Note 2's S-Pen leaving trails on the protector.
I personally buy the 10x $1.79 screenies and wet apply them. Come out great and it's not big deal to replace them.
Replace a screen protector I dont replace them I put a zagg on my sensation snd it lasted forever itd still on there after 2 yrs.

first off i dont blame anyone for using a screen protector with the prices of some of these phones today.
but personally i stopped using screen protectors all together,it came to me one day as i was looking at my phone and seeing all the scratches on the screen protector,i was like why do i pay $25 for a screen protector so i dont get scratches on my screen and in reality all it does is make my view look scratched easier and never get to fully enjoy my shiny new screen.i understand that you can just keep replacing them and it can keep your screen looking new right up to the end of your contract but at that time it will not matter to me as i will be getting a new phone anyways and can care less about if it has any scratches when bestbuy gives me $8 of credit for the trade in lol.
also i must say these newer glasses they are using on there screens are impressive i stopped using screen protectors when i got my S3, and after using it for a few days shy of a year i still had 0 scratches but was always careful to not put it in my pocket with my keys and all that.i just got my S4 and plan to do the same with this one and from what i read this one has even better glass, while i dont think my sprint mogul would have lasted a week without screen protection back in the day these current phones really dont seem to need them.
but to put in my 2¢ i believe i was using screen protectors made by 3M, im sure they where not the best but they worked pretty good for about $15 each.

It's the first glass one I've ever tried, and I love it. I got it directly from Spigen at spigen.com. They have a lower-cost replacement plan in case you break it, so I thought it would be good to buy direct in case I ever need to use that.
The Glas.TR was $35 through Amazon IIRC, not a cheap screen protector, but easy enough application, and smooth as the "naked" screen
The generic tmobile screen protector is pretty good.

Good screen protector, hide/prevent scratches?

Today I discovered I have a small scratch on my screen (no bigger than an 1/8th inch) but it's really bothering me, especially since I just got my phone a couple weeks ago and the glass is suppose to be scratch resistant.
What's a good suggestion for a screen protector? I did some searching and found zagg invisible shield. I've seen good
reviews and bad reviews for it.
Will anything "fix" or hide the scratch so it's not noticeable?
Thanks.

Should of bought one at the moment you got the phone. Take it it's not your first. A glass one should hide it but you will always know it's there. If you are like me it will just rent space in your head...

Take my word for it and try the amFilm protectors. If properly applied, you won't know it's there, and feels like glass. (after a few minutes of getting your skin oils worked in) If you don't believe me, then good luck in your search.
