[Q] scratch remover? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Small scratch on my screen about a half inch in length. Are there any scratch remover solutions that are good with the gorilla glass? Or am I doomed to a scratch on my screen for the rest of my phone's life? Any help appreciated!

I never heard of scratch removers for a phone, it's a scratch. Best thing to do is get a screen protector because most likely you didn't have one on.

I don't they have a product like that, that actually works. I bought this scratch remover on amazon called like iDrops or something it claimed that it would remove most scratches off of my iPhone's plastic backing but it didnt work, and I lost 9.99 lol. Gorilla Glass is way overrated.. I cracked my first S3's screen and I have a couple scratches on my new one already. And its not like I throw my phone around or anything I took off the screen protector for like a couple of days and there were already a couple small scratches... but yeah I don't think they have anything like it haha.

Ok Thanks for the replies, guess I'll have to finally get a screen protector. Never had one for any of my phones. I did hear they hide scratches on the screen pretty well. Not sure how true that is but oh well.

Yeah depends which ones you get there's so many to choose from. Many are overpriced but really what's going to help in the end is getting the thought out of your head that there's a scratch there and it's gone lol. I'm very picky too so it would he extremely hard, and yeah I personally think the first gorilla Glass is actually better than the second.

I wouldn't try it if I were you... the screen is scrstch resistant. You coul end up having to remove the entire top-layer of the screen ...
Don't know how it is with the gorilla glass, but on my mp3player trying to remove scratches on a scratch resistant screen made it worse PLUS its very hard to get any effect at all on such a hard screen...

Thank you for an at least informative reply
Really? No one has gotten scratches that they haven't tried to remove?
I would describe what i have almost as a blemish(?) and not scratches. You can move your fingernail across it and not feel any type of cut or ravine in the glass. There more aesthetic that physical i think. A lighter drifted across it sitting in the car. No pressure or anything. So i'm sure these can be removed...but how!!
You could try a place that repairs autoglass. I know they have stuff that gets cracks out so I'm sure they could squeeze a little for ya. Dunno if it will work but who knows

FYI- I tried both toothpaste and baking soda on my old nokia which had a plastic screen. It made no difference, didn't help or hurt. So I wouldn't think it would work on glass.
I've used jeweler's rouge and oil on glass before, it works to remove very light scratches but takes a ton of elbow grease. So I wouldn't recommend that either.
There are products that fill scratches in glasses or on cars. You might want to consider one of those.
Good Luck

Having done bar work for many years, I can confirm the Brasso does an excellent job of cleaning brass and other metals. Can't say I would want to try and polish my screen with it though, its messy and it smells.

To use screen protector or not???

So I'm debating on whether or not I should use a screen protector on my S3. With the new gorilla glass is it necessary?
What are all of you doing??

I think it's personal preference I bought a screen protector and I am using mine. It depends how well you take care of your phone. Get a cheap one off of amazon or eBay and see if you like it

i take care of my phones so i will not be using a protector. I never have. I took my X2 to the extremes once i activated my s3 and it was difficult to actually scratch the screen.
hoping this holds up equally well. I did by a sleeve for the phone though.
At first I didn't plan on using one, but I did end up trying a wet apply protector and I'm liking it ok. The Gorilla glass seems pretty resilient, and there are videos on youtube of people taking keys, razors, knives etc to the screen with no scratches but the last thing you want is a scratched up display.
Come on guys, there has been threads about this

I have a My Touch 4G Slide. I hate the long name.
I have been using it for over a year now and it has a few very slight scratches. It has Gorilla Glass.
Now about the videos on YouTube: They all use metal that is not so sharp. I would like to see how the glass stands up to a single grain of sand, dirt or rock fragment.
I'm a mechanic and work in a rough environment. I get dirt and grease on it all the time but I don't purposely scratch it.
My 4G was a replacement for the G2 I had for almost a year before and did use a Zagg and it got dirty within a month and the free replacements for life cost $6 to ship them.
I'll have my S3 this week and don't plan to use a protector. I don't think that a screen protector can save it from a direct hit. Since the majority of the surface is non screen, I am considering a case to spread out the impact damage if I drop it, which is more likely to break the screen.
My opinion is non scientific and is from limited experience.
The Verizon guy installed one for me and its working fine. I wasn't gonna put one on but I do like it.

I think there are many debait about this, it's up to you, and as said many times gorilla glass is not future proof it will get scratched easily, forget about keys and coins, just get some sand and try it out.
There has been some discussion on this. There are also some threads about individual screen protectors. Look here.

Amzer shatterproof screen protector

I have been hearing a lot of cases when our Galaxy SIII's screen has shattered when dropped that too not from a height. Then i heard of AMZER's shatter proof series and i pre-ordered it 3 days ago. Now my case protector has arrived and it is the toughest screen protector i have ever used. I was so lucky that i bought it on time. It was dropped by a kid with face on and nothing happened. This one is really tough guys.
Check this http://www.amzer.com/Amzer-ShatterP...-for-Samsung-GALAXY-S-III-GT-I9300-P94905.htm
It's definitely scratch proof, but shatter proof?
Yes I agree with the OP - knocked my sgs3 off and it hit the corner of the table and then floor - screen first - i have cracked by display on the sensation in a similar situation - this time not even a scratch and this thing sticks right on! Solid stuff here - will post a review later on! must order it guys only 29 bucks!

If it doesn't suck completely after 2 weeks it is better.
i have the verizon protector on mine, which doesnt go all the way to the edge, but when mine cracked, it rounded it self off when it ran under the screen protector and turned around like "ohh can't go that way" lol https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/386262_10151093476528557_832449593_n.jpg

Scratched my s3 screen :(

Hi guys,
As the topic states, I noticed last week while cleaning my screen I have a scratch around 1 inch on the top left... No idea how it happened. With my S2 I dropped it several times on the floor and it's still clean as new. Any tip to the scratch?
Thanks
You can buy a screen protector which usually fills in the scratch so it's not noticeable and protects against future scratches!

most of the scratches are on the oleophobic coating. You can try this to see if it gets restored.

Screen Protectors! Why do you use them?

s3s have gorilla glass screens I thought and they have protection to scratches but I see lots of people using these screen protectors. Why do people buying it? OR may I wrong?
Scratch resistant isn't the same as scratch proof.
I've always used protection on my touchscreen devices and don't encounter any functional differences.
All it takes...
My last daily driver had gorilla glass, as does my new S3. I'll be using a protector on my new one as soon as I can get one. I went without for the second half of my last phone's life. Granted, I had no shattering, cracking, or other screen failure, but I definitely acquired a few scratches.
After that first scratch, you'll never look at that screen the same again. All it takes is one fall or one coin or key in a pocket. I like having Gorilla Glass as an extra layer of protection, but it doesn't negate the necessity of redundancy when it comes to protection.
There's a huge thread on this. Can't remember the title tho

I honestly love my screen to be naked. I just take extremely good care of my phone. The scratches on my screen are very minimal. They are small from sand in my pocket and such. Never dropped the phone since I got it about 6 months ago.
Phone always has a dedicated pocket and I don't put anything else in there. I occasionally use a case, but not too often, though when I use my ZeroLemon 7000mah the case is of course on. Still no Screen Protector. Nothing beats the feel of glass.

What brand is it? I tried one a while ago and it made the screen not recognize half of my touches, do you have any issues like that with yours?
I had one of the glass screen protectors and loved it but I broke it. You can get them on eBay for less than $10 now and they are well worth it. I repair phones and happened to have a replacement glass for a s3 and put it on top of the my phone and everything worked except the proximity sensor. I think because of the protective film. I ordered another replacement glass ($6) and I am going to try to use it as a screen protector. Just have to figure out how to get it to stick.

It's a Holy Grail from Sir Lancelot's Armor. It registers everything exactly as it would naked, it's just a couple of millimeters thicker.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I personally use a Zagg Invisishield, but plan to buy a Sir Lancelots Holy Grail soon. I use them just because I prefer not to have a scratched screen. I have seen many S3's just covered in scratches. Granted, they were owned by people who were prone to dropping their phone, but it does happen. The S3 screen is scratch resistant and tempered, but that still means it can scratch and break.
I've had a screen protector on my s3 since the first day I got it. Just a week ago, I got pretty much fed up with the screen protectors always scratching and getting really oily. Took it off and omg the screen is so smooth. So far my screen has no scratches.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Despite what they say about Gorilla Glass, its still possible to scratch it! Have some bad experience of it myself.
I've been using the same skin from xoskins.com for my s3 since the release day. No scratches, no orange peel look to it, no curling edges. Love it. Gorilla glass might be tough but scratches can happen, and this skin prevents it.
