Basically I have a rooted HTC desire and I have currently Clockworkmod flashed, I tried to install the 4ext.net flash on it, but whenever I tried to flash it it still displayed clockworkmod when I booted into recovery.
Additionally I actually upgraded the clockworkmod flash from Romenager and it still shows me an older version of the mod.
My question is how can I flash 4extrecovery on my desire and replace it with clockworkmod, I tried the official 4ext.net app and it didn't work.
Additionally I tried to format my sdcard, and I used a windows tool to create a seperate 1,5gb ext4 partition but when I installed the supernova rom it didn't see it. How can I fix that?
You need to s-off your phone if you want to change recovery.
Don't use windows tools for partitioning. I recommend GParted.

I dont think i need them both,
I originially had clockworkmod after rooting with unrevoked,
then i installed amonra to split the sdcard,
now i want clockworkmod so i can flash unsigned roms.... so i used rom manager to flash it, done so about 10 times now, it says that i have it installed, and i can get to it only if i boot into recovery from rom manager, if i boot into recovery any other way i get amonra..
its not a huge problem since both recoveries are working properly, but id rather just have clockworkmod because im never going to split my card again..
anyone know how i can remove amonra and install cwm?
thanks.
If you are S-On you will have to use unrevoked to get back to ClockworkMod.
If you are S-Off, you can use fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
By using ROM Manager you have installed ClockworkMod using the "fake-flash" method. It was how recoveries could be launched easily on desire before unrevoked cracked it!
Thats because ROM Manager uses a fake-flash so it will load CWM but when you boot from HBOOT it will use AmonRA as it's the permanent recovery
AmonRA is a better recovery and does the same job as CWM so just use that
Ooooohhhh I see, are there any negatives to using fake flashed clockworkmod?

No, it's just ROM Manager is a fail like that
(I don't like it in case you haven't guessed)
It just means that clockwork mod is not actually installed but just a update.Zip on the SD card which launches clockwork mod wheh flashed.
What version of amonra recovery do you have? It should be able to run unsigned zips.
1.7.0.5 r5 or something like that, it doesn't like unsigned.

Hi all,
I tried to install the latest cyanogenmod -6.1.2.-DesireHD rom to DHD, and tried the steps given below, after that at the time of reboot the phone hangs shows only HTC logo on white back ground.
The steps followed are :
1. rooted the phone using Visionary( r14 ) as mentioned and tesed with the terminal emulator.
2. Installed engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off, it was done successfully.
3. Installed RomManager premium and installed clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5.
4. Took the backup and installed cyanogenmod -6.1.2.-DesireHD.
Installation is proper and after rebooting it shows the HTC logo with white background initial picture and hangs.
I tried to restore the phone back to normal by selecting backup image from the restore option of clockworkmod recovery here also the same thing hapend.
Can any one help me getting back the phone.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
cjag
The problem is your clockworkmod. Put CM7 rom to your SD, do a full wipe and flash. It will work. Other option is to flash older clockworkmod in fastboot, search for instructions.

HI,
Thanks for the reply i am able to get the phone working, i took LeeDrOiD HD v2.0.0 rom copied it to my SD card and installed it through clockworkmod recovery. It working fine.
Thanks,

I have a rooted Incredible running CM7 Nightly #32 and I was recently switching from a 16GB SD card to a 32 GB card and I'm having issues booting into recovery now.
I copied all files from one card to the other and made sure permissions were preserved. I also made sure to preserve all of the file structures and locations. The SD card is formatted for FAT32.
When I went to perform a NAND backup and flash the newest nightly it will only get as far as the HBOOT, not even to the bootloader. If I try to get into the bootloader it allows me past that first step but when I scroll to Recovery and hit power to select it flashes the HTC Incredible screen and returns to HBOOT.
Any thoughts on what could be the issue?
Other specs:
S-OFF
HBOOT 0.92.0000
RADIO - 2.15.00.07.28
Thanks,
Chris
If your phone still boots and all. You can just flash recovery through ROM Manager.
Or you can still flash recoveries through hboot. Here's
3.0.0.8:
http://dougpiston.com/files/Recovery/PB31IMG-recovery-clockworkmod-3.0.0.8.zip
2.5.1.2:

Thanks BrettApple that did the trick. I was able to get "into" recovery and finish with the NAND backup.
i'm having a similar problem. at first i just couldn't update past cwm 2.5 through rom manager. it said i was on 3.0.0.8 but when i booted to recovery it was still 2.5.1.2 so i checked erase recovery before flashing in advanced options. now i have no recovery. does anyone have a link to where i can get the latest cwm in pb31 form so i can flash manually through the bootloader?
How do I change my recovery back to clockwork from amun ra.
I used the unrevoked method to root my desire. For some reason I flashed the amun ra recovery. I want to put clockwork back on.
I've tried using unrevoked to load a custom image, and using rom manager. neither of these methods work.
Could anyone help as I cant find another way by searching the forum.
Thanks in advanced
if you want to get new recovery with unrevoked, you would have to run a RUU and unroot, then root again, with clockwork.
other options you have:
1) fake-flash.zip of CWM recovery - you would boot normally into AmonRa, then choose to flash the .zip file of CWM, and CWM would boot up - however you'd have to do that every time, and if for some reason your SD would corrupt or smth you would have only AmonRA.
2) the only other way is being S-OFF, and flashing CWM through fastboot. go to desire TUT section, and find a video 'how to set up adb'. do it, then s-off your device (if you already havent) and take it from there, there are numerous tutorials how to do it
Thank-you for the prompt reply.
I have just S-OFF my desire using alpharev method and installed the custom recovery that came with it.
Much happier now

Hello. I've had CWM 3.0.0.6 installed on my Wildfire ever since I rooted it and it has been working fine (I had to use 2.5.0.7 for amend scripts), and now ROM Manager (just upgraded to CM 7.1) offered me to install 5.0.2.0 recovery. Should I install the newer one or should I keep this one?
In my opinion its totally down to personal preference mate,if your happy don't change. Regards Slymobi.

Rom manager doesn't flash the recovery permanently on the phone, but only in a virtual sd partition...
if its working perfectly then don't do anything....
How can i update the cwm in the cwm, when i have one the img file like this http://www.multiupload.com/M7HOETAK33
I have cwm 2.5.0.7

uurm also i have permanently cwm version 4. xxx and as flashable zip version 5.0.2.0 and 2.5.0.7 as update.zip so if you want to use any version first flash in the option "choose zip from sd card" and flash the cwm version than u have temporary the version of cwm as you need or if you have rom manager than u can u can load older version as virtual sd partition
