i also tried the htc dev website..the PC1010000_VISION_GINGERBREAD_S_hboot_0.82.0009 does not work for my phone so i didnt use it because it sayd ..current rom ##### upgrade to ##### the same build number so i dont think i need to do it. i get to the part were i go into CMD and then i type fastboot oem get_identifier_token to get the LONG ID numbers it just says error , ive been searching for about 2 weeks every single night trying to do this and i just can not figure out how...all threads related to this dont help...i read and read and read...please believe im trying my best
now im trying to go back to the htc dev site to start over and i cant even clock the green button were it says start ...im so confused can someone please post links or info so i can
unlock boot to add roms and how to perm root?

you can check this link for help .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511640

ok thanx do i HAVE TO use the htc dev side to unlock bootloader and so i HAVE TO use htc super tools...do i need to use both before i even look at this thread?

Stay away from htcdev, its a real **** method of unlock, leaving half your stuff still locked.
For example, if you are changing roms, with the XDA method you can do it wherever you are, with htcdev you need to have a computer handy.

[Q] Rooting gone wrong?

Hi all
I have done a search to try and find the answer for this but I dont seem to be able to find a solution.
I am in the process of trying to flash my HTC Wildfire that I have just bought.
Now it came with S-OFF so i started by trying to use unrEVOked tool. This got so far but couldnt find the device root.
So following the guide
form.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27139372
I trying to put it back to 2.1 instead of 2.2.1
This was successful HOWEVER, the touch screen doesnt work.
So in my attempt to try and fix this I am told to just flash it.
But I cant continue, I cannot get unrEVOked to find the device anymore.
I can tell the phone to do anything different as the screen doesnt work.
I have tried to recover it using a recovery image however it keeps failing and telling me "Remote not allowed"
I had turned on USB debugging but I fear the setting may have been removed when I put the other, older ROM on.
Anyone got any ideas what I can do?

take the rom.zip out of the ruu by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=486701&d=1294753279 , rename it pc49img.zip boot into bootloader and try flash it from there.

try this
Thank you, I will get an SD card and try this later
I followed this guide, However when it was in HBOOT when it was searching it did not load PB99IMG and it didnt look for a PB99IMG.
Also in HBOOT it says Touch Panel - Fail if this helps?
Edit again
I changed the name to PC49IMG.zip which seems to be what it looks for but this doesnt work either?
May be I should leave it to more experienced people here. I never had any issue when I rooted my phone. Cant help you more than this.

Wtf am I doing wrong here... Coming from Gnex

Hello fellow One-X'ers, I am coming from a long line of Samsung devices and have only had one HTC phone in the past, (HD2).
I cant for life of me figure out how to root this phone, I have tried the conventional method, alternate root method, im getting nothing... Bootloader will not unlock through htcdev (which it says to do in half of the root how-tos), i always see error 160 invalid MID...
I have installed and updated the following:
-Java
-HTC Mobile drivers as well as sync
-SDK
-Fastboot
wtf am I missing here? I just want to get a new rom as this sense stuff absolutely sucks. Yes I have searched, yes I have read...
What phone have you got? If I remember correctly the "Error 160" / "invalid MID" responses are returned when you try and use HTCDev to unlock the AT&T One X (actually the One XL) which doesn't support unlocking the bootloader in that way.
Boot into the bootloader and check the model name displayed at the top of the screen: if it says "evita" then that's your problem, and you'll need to head over to the forums for your particular device to get some help because none of the stuff in this section will work - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
If the bootloader shows "endeavoru" then you are in the right place, but in that case I don't know what the problem is.
Uninstall HTC sync, keep the USB drivers mind.

[q] help. How to run ruu on verizon to get back to stock

Hey, i'm new to this forum but i have tried everything and cant figure it out. Its probably just me because i'm not too good with this stuff.I bought this phone used and it was rooted when i got it. im pretty sure i unrooted it but somewhere along the way while trying to get it back to stock i reset the phone and it must have deleted something important because when i try to download the OTA update it simply wont install after i download it. Recovery used to work but now it just sits at the loading screen and then reboots the phone. I managed to re-lock the bootloader and it is on S-off. I tried to get back to stock using the ruu.exe but the video i was following had the link for every ruu except verizon. Figures. Then i searched around and cant seem to find a verizon Ruu.exe file. Please any help would be appreciated i just want to be able to update to the latest firmware.
Follow the steps carefully

This will help you as in my case i also had the same problem . unlock your bootloader and you must be soff this ruu works fine just follow the steps. First install the htc sync manager to your pc and then uninstall it ( only sync manager ) not the drivers.
:good::good::good::good::good: good luck
Still having problems.
When i get up to the step when you need to type SU into the command promp is where i am getting stuck. My supersu app says "there is no binary file installed" when i try and open it and my phone will not allow me to uninstall the application so im not sure if that is causing the problem
Clean install the super su

Dude first specify what is your software number ? I would recommend you to clean your super su install if thats the problem you are facing also do mention the it with a screenshot...so that if some knows can help you
Also i think you are using it to remove the tampered tag right? you can do that later . also no need to unlock bootloader if you have soff
I attached some screenshots hopefully they help. I think I've come to the conclusion I need to flash a recovery but in order to do so my boatloader must be unlocked even if I have s-off. (It says relocked and s-off) only problem is that I can't find a way to unlock the boot loader b/c htcdev doesn't allow Verizon to unlock through there services and the other ways require supersu. The only way to get the correct binary file for super su is to flash it which I can't do without recovery. So I feel like I'm jus stuck right now and can't do anything

Bro Your bootloader is locked you should not have relocked it dude thats the biggest mistake ! and your software number shows that you are running kitkat there is no rooting method till now for that .
What i must say is that you can try to flash the ruu without unlocking the bootloader you are s-off give it a try , if it does then your problem is solved
unlock your bootloader later on. Wish you luck :good:. Also you can ask in the forum itself that will it flash or not

[Q] Desperate HELP! HTC ONE M8 (UK H3G)

Hi new to the forum and rooting , bootloading ect ect.i installed numerous things to try root my M8 , but couldnt get it to root , had a custom recovery , which was the clockworkmod. Eventually i installed sunshine and used that , didnt pay but i did a root check and came back good , started modding games ect .
This is where i went wrong , tried to install Harmon Mod, me not reading correctly until afterwords, i installed S 0FF when my M8 isnt, it had S ON
So my device wouldnt get passed the white screen with HTC one, but can get into the recovery and fastboot bootloader USB ect. So i reset everything , didnt work , so i flashed the ROM thinking it would be easy to install a new one through FLASHED USB with a ZIP file , nope.
so i followed a thing online telling me a few prcedes whicgh involved downloading a few things , in the end flashing boot.img and fl;ashing recover.img and locking bootload, which i managed to lock bootloader, but everytime i went to install this RUU thing the htc wouldn have been tryna turn on after the lock bootload so would crash.
Lonfg story ino , so now i have a complety different recovery , a kind of black and red one , where the wrtiting is small and at the top , a flashed ROPM and no idea what to do stuck on the HTC white screen.
if you have read this far im extremly greatfull.

Hard to take this post seriously. Please provide as much detail, including the exact steps you've taken so far, exact file names (I understand you can't post links yet), etc.
Honestly, its hard to help when you've basically said "I did some stuff I saw online, now please help me".
Also do a adb getvar all, and post the output (but first delete your IMEI and serial number, since they are personal info).
Its sounds like you've done a lot of tinkering, without really understanding the basic concepts and what you are doing. Slow down, and spend a couple hours reading to really understand everything, before doing anything else. There are a variety of good threads sticky to the top of the forum sections, with good beginner info, links, etc.

Htc One X: Token Check Failed/Error 160 Mid not allowed

I've searched a lot of threads on this site in hope of finding a solution to my issues, and none of them work. I'm using an HTC One X and well, I'm trying to modify it. I use the steps prescribed on HTC Dev however, once I get to step 12, it says ,token check failed, every time. Every time I input fastboot oem get_identifier_token, I get a different code, and I test it to see if it will work. However, nothing does. I've also tried to update my device to 5.18 in hopes of the bootloader already being unlocked as it it apparently does in later models. All I get it is Error 158: Image Error which, everywhere I look, I find no explanation. I have no idea at all why so many things are going wrong. My phone has never been rooted or tampered with, or modified, it has always worked fine. Maybe it's a CID issue. Either way, I have no idea. Can someone help me? I just want to get this dang bootloader unlocked. This should not be this much of a head ache.
