Lately, the dialer app has been using way too much battery for some reason. It says 68% as of now. I don't get what makes it use so much battery, especially since I use "GO contacts" as an alternative.
So I want to disable it all together. I tried freezing with Titanium Backup, but it doesn't seem like it's working. It just stays on the "Freezing..." message forever.
Any ideas?
check Usb debugging before freezing?

You could try a dif launcher. I was always a adw guy, but I haven't been getting forcecloses with the ics one since the last release.

I'm probably overlooking something monumentaly stupid, but in every single app, when in portrait mode I have these annoying zoom icons that don't actually do anything. I can't say when it started, or if they've always been there. Maybe I'm going crazy. I'm on blazer 3.7, gunslinger kernel.
Attached is an image from my Gmail on landscape. Any idea what this is or how to turn it off?

Did you try to delete cache and data for gmail?
If the same thing happens, then it would be some configuration issue. If it only happens on gmail, then remove and reinstall the gmail.
If still happens the same thing, then it could be related to rom and gmail version.
Be sure that which version of gmail is supported on your rom.
Thanks for responding.
The issue happens in literally every application.

the next thing we may check would be the launcher. Which one are you using? Is it happens on different launcher also?
Stock touch wiz, at least what's included on blazer. Now it went away in gmail but does it in the browser and a number of other apps. I'll probably just wipe everything and try blazer 4.0.

Updated to ICS through Kies, running stock rooted and using default sms (I know, that's my first problem ).
My problem is I'm having to tap the field three or four times to pull up the Swype keyboard..
Didn't see any info on this posted previously so i wanted to see if i was alone on this. Aside from this issue, I'm running pretty smoothly, no lag, no force closures, no random reboots, just finicky Swype..

Have you tired another keyboard?

Hmmm looks like its not exclusive to Swype, messaging app lags pulling up any keyboard.
I'd gladly switch to handcent, I've just gotten accustomed to being able to pull up my messages from the lockscreen.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this out is it just an app issue?

It did that to my battery too. I deleted the app and if I need to go on, I just use the internet.

Yup just use the browser the Facebook app is a battery killer

you can also try friendcaster. I've never used it myself but a lot of people say it runs better than facebook and uses less battery

It does work but I cant stand the interface. Why can't FB being the billion dollar company that it is, develop an app that works correctly?
I use the Facebook app and every once in a while I'll see it ducking up my battery and I just force stop it once you re open it seems not to take so much battery

I have the FB app and it didn't drain my battery. I'm still getting 3-4 hrs of screen time. Just set the refresh interval to never in the FB settings and also turn off the messenger location. Turn off notifications that you dont need either. Also, always press the back button when exiting apps, not the home button

I just updated my phone yesterday, and im having two issues. The main issue is the flasshing red boarder around the entire screen the appears mostly when switching apps, going home, and turning on/off. It even happens during the boot-up.
Second, my keyboard is lagging. I have all of the "feedback" features turned off and it still does it. No 3rd party boards installed. I really like the new keyboard and I wont have some third party app developers recording every keystroke.
Any ideas?

I wasn't aware there even was on OTA update to 4.1.1. Far as I knew you could only do it through Kies. Maybe try redoing it through that? Or find the stock image on here and flash it through Odin.

Check the developer options. One of them is set to update when the screen draws. Just disable anything in there you don't need.

Thanks!
It was due to user error.
I had strick mode on for some reason.
Glad to know it was something so little.

It was a dubuging feature turned on.
4.1 is available OTA for AT&T right now.
I dont know when it became available, but its really nice. I use adw pro launcher always on all my android devices so I dont get the full experience of 4.1. I really love what they did with the keyboard and the dropdown, but I really wish they kept the data switch there.
My battery life is not as good anymore though...
Anyway, let me know if its not available to you.

Nvmnd it didnt completely fix the problem.
It doesnt do it nearly as much, but its still there. I will redo from kies.

Every time I reboot my Glide, the phone automatically goes to LauncherPro (good!). However, when I tap the home key (even if I am focused on LPP), I get prompted to change the default launcher. Every time, I tap the checkbox for default, and select LPP. All is well, until I reboot my phone, and the whole process starts over again. Any suggestions?
There should be a lil box asking if u wanna keep said launcher as default...
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
As I said above, I always click the default launcher checkbox. And on every reboot, it is unset.
Have you tried freezing the offending launcher? If you don't even use it. Then you could even delete the launcher? Problem solved. why keep two launchers in the first place...
Sent from my SGH-i927 using xda premium
I am on an unrooted stock ICS rom, and freezing TwLauncher is disabled (button greyed) through the settings/applications/all menu.
That's your problem. A solution for stock may be a lot harder to come by. The stock launcher will always try to resurface like that. It also still uses its resources.

Is that new to the ICS update? This never happened under the last two versions of GB for the Glide...
