Data outage again? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone experiencing little to no data reception? I cant catch a 4G at all and 3G is going in and out. Normally very strong reception area. South Florida.

I cannot connect to EHRPD at all, and yet...my wife's phone has full bars and 3G sitting right next to me.
Both are Galaxy Nexus.

yep...I am here in NYC and data outage here....just went onto my wifi...
oh well....what else is new LOL LOL

Are we sure that ATT didn't stealth buyout Verizon?

Had 4G service in Brooklyn this morning, and I got to midtown and no data at all. This is the first outage since I've had the GN.

I'm having connection issues here in Los Angeles. No 4G and 3G is going in and out.
3G seems to be stable now. Still no 4G

I'm getting good 4g in Manhattan and Brooklyn. No 4g upstate though.

I've had the phone for about a month now, so yeah, kinda new. my 4G has been back for about an hour now.

4G works fine for me in Queens NY

Just lost it twice in Manhattan now. Reboots fixed it though so who knows.

call tech support, or better get them on chat. It's easier.
....tell them you have abysmally slow data speeds and want a data refresh. Every time I have activated a phone on Sprint since the E3D came out (that's been like 6 or 7 phones, lol) I have had to do this because of ABSURDLY slow data speeds....and this helped a ton.
If that doesn't help then maybe it's a hardware defect...if that doesn't help then the Sprint blows in your area.
Yup me and my friend are getting almost double the 3g speed and better 4g speed for the past week or two
Wow...i spend so much time on wifi that i havent really noticed, but i just installed speedtest and ran a battery of tests...holy crap

I'm not sure where people that are getting better data live. If it's in a major city it would make sense though. I would bet that places like NYC, LA, Miami ect may be getting the network beefed up in anticipation of the Iphone.
The last thing Sprint needs is to get crappy reviews on the Iphone due to a sluggish network.
My 3g is next to useless. And I live in San Antonio.

No 4G in Tampa,FL

Is it me, or has the 4G been lost in Tampa? It could just be my phone, but I haven't been able to connect to 4g in over a week.
It was working (at half the speed I usually get) 2 Fridays ago. But, if I'm not mistaken, isn't Tampa scheduled for LTE by the end of the year? If so, they could be working on the towers in your area.

I'm in Tampa as well and there is 4g its just hard to find. I live over in Seminole heights and there is a tower less than a mile from me and I've gotten it but its very weak. My 3g was giving it a run for its money...

If I understand correctly, 4G Wimax towers (owned by Clearwire) should have nothing to do with 3G CDMA / 4G LTE towers (owned by Sprint).
I have to turn 4G off and on a few times to get a decent connection and when I do it disconnects a minute later.. best places I've seen are near USF and on 275 between Westshore Blvd & downtown. Everywhere else sucks. Also I've never once had a good connection indoors
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I move around quite frequently and I find a decent amount of areas that have 4g, even in places that you wouldn't think it would be. If your near a Sprint store then most cases there will be 4g available. Inside the Tampa Pitcher Show, across from Sprint store, you can get service inside easily. Places out in Brandon and Valrico as well, in fact I was using 4g yesterday in IHOP out on 60. If LTE is covered as much as the current 4g then I'll be very happy... Oh and I thought I read that it was coming here this summer according to that unofficial sprint build out site. I won't contemplate even getting an LTE phone before then since 4g is so readily available for me, and we know how good the 3g can be at times.....
Noooooooo you guys are all wrong. 4G is there but its just incognito and invisible.

Lol, the connection strength isn't too shaby... It does disconnect often but that is because number one, the coverage is still somewhat spotty and two this phone has that "best connection" thing where it automatically picks the best coverage spectrum. So when i'm at home it always wants to pick my wifi since it's the strongest signal... the pic was actually taken while driving which was even more impressive... i wish there was a way to manually enable LTE like Wimax because sometimes you're in an area where u know there is 4g coverage cuz u got it b4 but the phone may not be scanning when u happen to drive thru that area. But once it is more widely deployed it will be like 3g where u can get it everywhere and provide a stable connection.

LTE is the next step 4th generation in wireless radio data transmission(although none of the carriers are actually providing true 4g speeds yet, the capacity is there)... unlike wimax it doesn't have a completely separate antenna that has to be manually switched on and off... its a different radio frequency but runs off of the same antenna as your standard 3g if im not mistaken... eHRPD tells the phone when to switch from 3g(CDMA) to LTE... as stated above once the deployment is widespread it will be a stable connection just like 3g... but thats years at minimum b4 we see that kind of coverage...

In Joliet, IN for business and I'm getting between 17 and 20 down and 4 to 6 up. Not bad considering I'm not getting anything in North Dallas where I live even though the Sprint Coverage map has me completely covered in LTE.....Sprint Coverage map sucks to be honest.

While you are evaluating the handset and the LTE coverage, make sure you update the baseband firmware with the LG8 version now being pushed out. It can make all the difference in getting and holding LTE connections.
And if you are serious about researching the Sprint LTE rollout, go to S4GRU.com and consider becoming a sponsor to gain access to fuller information about the network.

Did you really type that? You do remember this is SPRINT, right?
It worked in Denison yesterday for me. I live in Richardson and it works well for me. Had lunch in Addison and it worked. Also get a signal in Garland where I work. Very spotty north of Plano. Surprisingly strong in East Garland/West Richardson. Haven't ventured downtown with new phone so can't say about that yet. Did get an LTE signal in Oakcliff(20/Wheatland) last weekend.
The closest i got 4G off Central and NW HWY area was at Central and Southwestern BLVD. Which is a tad bit south of NW HWY.
I went to Chipotle. I took a speed test in chipotle and another one when i was on the service road across from the tower just south of Southwestern blvd. FYI, i saw them upgrading that tower 2 weeks ago but this is the first time 4G light up for me there. See pics for speeds. Slower speed was inside chipotle. Faster speed was across the highway from the tower on the service road.
I quickly lost it as went south toward Down Town Dallas.

Is this true?
Yep, ever since yesterday when I noticed that my radio was switching between 3g and 4g, the battery sucked, literally. I work from 9 to 6 and normally, my battery would last until I get home, around 30-40%. As you can see on the ss, I came home with under 10%. Is it because I need to update my radio? I'm still on LEN.
This just proves that sprints service is far better then any other service out there, LTE proved to be faster in speeds then At&t, T-Mobiles and comes pretty close to verizons speeds. Maybe so, but i seriously doubt sprints network bandwidth would be alot slower then wimax itself, i dont think sprint is gonna let that happen, have minimum speed for everyone of 4-6mbps, that would really piss alot of people off and make em switch after what they got put throught. They would loose alot of customers that are expecting more then the wimax predecessor.
