I've only had this phone for like two days and just experienced issues with my keyboard (Swype and stock Android keyboard) not typing into the text input box of my messaging app. This doesn't always happen, but I've noticed that it does this when unlocking the phone to the messaging app already open. I've even made sure that the input box was selected multiple times, changed keyboards, etc. the only solution is to exit the messaging app and re open it, which gets annoying really quick. Anyone else getting this issue? I'm on Android 4.0.2 Gsm model

been using handcent for the past couple months. i know how to turn the notifications off of the stock sms app so that handcent would be the only messaging app that would give me notifications. recently the stock sms app has been shooting out the notifications so i turn them off but i keep getting the notifications from it. has anyone run into this problem??
Have you tried force closing the stock messaging app? Try that and if you can, clear the default, then go to your people/contact app and select "send text message" at that point, it should ask you which one you want to use by default, select handcent...and we'll see where it goes from there.
thanks but i just tried that and it changed nothing. one thing i noticed is when i force closed the messaging app it took me to the adw launcher. im using launcherpro plus as my default home. whenever i force close anything it takes me to adw. this happened to me last night after i downloaded some apps from the applanet app so i did a nandroid restore this morning to go back to a few days ago. again i went to the applanet market and downloaded a couple apps. im not sure if its the applanet itself or if its something i got off there that would change the messaging app settings
I'm having a weird bug with the android 4.2 keyboard
In my email app only (stock Samsung email), the enter button is not acting as a carraige return. its doing nothing at all... in the browser and text apps its working perfectly.
in email the stock keyboard and swype keyboards work properly.
I'm on CDLK3 installed via mobile Odin. the phone was factory wiped prior to flashing AND factory/dalvik wipe options were checked in mobile Odin.
fixed it. I was using the native 4.2 keyboard.
this version from the play store fixes the issue with Samsung email client.

Each time a new page is loaded in the stock browser, I get this voice message saying "Loading started" and then "Page loaded". Totally useless, disturbing and stupid.
I searched everywhere and I can't find the switch to stop it. Can Someone help me?

i couldnt find answer either but i stopped using stock browser and the voice doesnt happen on chrome
Either talkback is enabled or something else under accessibility. I had this problem using the app iphone notifications. I froze both the Samsung text to speech and google text to speech using titanium backup and it has stopped.

I have the same issue. Do you have Light Flow installed? If you do, I believe it is a bug with that app and/or TalkBack.

can confirm that its a bug with light flow.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
I tried disabling Lightflow and Talkback and the problem remained.
I also revised tbe Accessibility options and saw nothing that would cause this. I tried both Samsung and Google Text-to-speech - unfortunately there is no option to disable it.
Guess I'll switch to Chrome... When the designers try to make a phone too intelligent, it becomes stupid!!!

I have the same problem...
I have also Tasker in accessibility, and from some quick tests I think that if any of accessibility items (TalkBack, LightFlow or Tasker) is on "yes" then the problem occurs
I will do more tests in this evening ...
It's very annoying ... !
Had the same issue. Try turning off all of the "Services" under your accessibility settings. Even those that seem unrelated. For me in was a notification service for a dashclock widget. Wasn't very obvious, but simple enough. Of course, you can turn them back on one by one to determine the culprit.
Problem solved

Yes, this is the cause. Lightflow is doing this. I switched to Chrome and the problem is solved. Samsung are good at hardware but not very good at software.
Thanks for your reply

Have you tried actually uninstalling it? I had to do that before the issues went away.. I love lightflow, but the bugginess is just too much of a pain right now.

This is discussed over in the Pebble forums. Apparently Samsung has a few bugs in their software, various parts of the system treat "any app that is using accessibility" to mean "talk back is activated" and behaving accordingly. A few problems were noted on earlier phones and those have been fixed (pending new updates being pushed by the carriers), but meanwhile the S4 ships with some new bugs along those lines, including annoying voice prompts on the browser and the stock gallery.
Even worse, the workaround for prior models was to disable Samsung and Google TTS services, but the stock S4 ROM refuses to let you disable the Samsung TTS service so there is no way to get rid of this (sans rooting).
The S4 Touchwiz ROM also turns off many features that don't work well if Talkback is activated, but does so if any accessibility app is active even if TB is turned off.
Apparently using a non-Touchwiz launcher can fix it, as can using a non-stock browser.

Hey guys,
So one thing I've just noticed with my new G3, is that it doesn't seem to be remembering my default app preferences...
Like everytime I get sent a link and click on it, it asks me what browser to use (Chrome, Firefox or the Default Browser) I always check Chrome and set it to be the default browser, but it always happens again, with other apps as well. Not sure if it's just my ROM or if an app could be possibly doing it... But I've checked settings and have reset it all and it doesn't help.
Anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this?
Thanks guys!
The same here. And it was also happening with my Galaxy s4.never understood why.
I thought that problem would be gone with the g3 but some times it still happens.
I had a similar problem with my G3, in my case was the home button witch launcher would be the default, and discovered it was an app causing it, uninstalled all apps and then installed them one by one and found the culprit and once it was removed it was all OK. For me was a game called Jugs, it might be something different for you.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for everything that everyone's been posting about the phone lately! I'm loving my HTC 10, however I noticed that my Messaging app is insanely slow when it comes time to type a reply or anything.
It seems like the keyboard is lagging whenever I'm typing a message, and this only happens in the messaging app when I'm typing in the message box. Is this the case with anyone else? Whenever I'm outside of the app, typing something is perfectly fine. I'm using Textra instead for the time being, but I just want to know if anyone else is having the same issue.
I've noticed the same thing as well. I've found that deleting all threads and starting fresh does help.

I've noticed this as well. I like using htc's messaging app so lets hope they release a fix soon.
I was just about to come on here to post the same thing! Something is definitely up with the stock messaging app. Typing is fine on other apps, but slow and laggy with the stock messaging app.
I'm also seeing the issue on the stock app, especially with Google keyboard.
I'm currently experiencing lag in any app that has typing. Tapatalk, Stock messenger, Google Messenger, Twitter, etc. Anyone else have this issue??

What keyboard are you using? I'm using SwiftKey, not the default keyboard. Also it may help your case by clearing the default keyboard app cache.

Google Keyboard and I've given that a shot. It's not a constant issue but it does happen frequently.

I use SwiftKey and also tried clearing my text messages, but typing is still very slow in the stock messaging app.
Anyone else still noticing this? I can't believe how laggy the keyboard is when typing in the messaging app.
Stock app is laggy
I use hangouts. no issues.
I've given up on the stock app due to lag and went with textra. After using it for a few days I actually wonder why I didnt make the switch awhile ago. It's a damn good messaging app. my favorite features by far are the quick reply and customization.
