IP Webcam - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

has anyone been able to get a decent ip webcam type app such as droidcam working on the GN? droidcam would be perfect but it seems like the hardware isnt supported. ive tried a few others, but having issues.

SECuRET LiveStream and SpyCam work great as baby monitors on my local WiFi network. Not sure if you can open up a port and access it globally though.

IP Cam Viewer works great as a Baby monitor with my WiFi. I use the Foscam 8918W IP Camera.

those are some cool apps ill look into, but im sorry i shouldve specified more. droidcam is an app that uses the phone camera and allows you to use it to stream the captured video to a computer for use as a webcam or similar. im looking for a good app like that that works on the nexus because droidcam crashes when i try to initialize the stream and it says the hardware is unsupported

quality is still not great even over wifi but hey it works.

VNC for Android

not sure if anyone needs this, but i sure use it everyday for work.
so here's the link in case you need it
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/
it's compatible with UltraVNC (http://www.uvnc.com/download/), it sure beats Windows Remote Desktop (Therminal Services) and it's more secure too
Apple Mac OS X 10.4 and newer already comes build in with the VNC server.
N1ce will try this out later
Nice!!! VNC finally on Android... I was using RemoteDesktop before this... It's ok... but VNC is VNC!!!
Hi,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting Android VNC working on my I9000. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I can connect to it fine. When I try to control the desktop from my phone I can see the response on my pc screen but not on my phone. Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks
Maybe Galaxy S does not have that much processing power? :S
Not sure...
i doubt that as i have no problem.
check your internet connection.
if you are running torrents, turn it off
My internet connection is fine, I'm not having any problems connecting to websites on either my computer or phone. I'm not running any torrents either....
I use ultraVNC with MRSCplugin encryption on my desktop pcs, does anyone know if there is a client that can handle this as I don't think this one does?
AFAIK i don't think the current releases supports encryption yet
I use TightVNC on Vista; and this app works amazingly awesome!.
I get a few laughs now and then scaring people controlling pc remotely.. LOL
really works like a charm, use this as remote for my pc when watching movies in bed lol also secretly installed on my little brothers pc and he is running scared xD
Anyone figured out the easiest way to double click without it coming out as a right click?
I usually use the WYSE software for this, seemed to work much better when I was on a Milestone.
Remember , Zodttd is working on VNC for android!
I tried VNC but LogMeIn is A LOT better.
I use RealVNC on the PC Win7 and "Remote VNC Ad" on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000

I am using UltraVNC on all my servers, androidVNC works just fine with it. When on slow connections, I just only pull 8 or 64-colors to lighten it up a bit.
Does vnc support sound on android yet? If not then rdp is still better

It's a Ubuntu vino server and Nvidia problem. You should disable visual effects (compiz), set it to none and you will have a working VNC server!

why would you want sound to be transferred ?
it's a waste of bandwidth
it's horrible when you are stuck in an area with only EDGE coverage, say you are driving between 2 towns, you get a call
it's an emergency, and you need to pull over to remote into the server to fix whatever it is

Use Your Android (Galaxy S) as an HD webcam!

Yeah this app works great, goes over wfi and simple enough to set up. Works wonderfully with msn! Since i dont have a webcam, my i9000m can be used instead! No streaming audio atm but soon the devs say
Downloaded. Works great as a webcam replacement. No hassle installation even on Windows 7 x64.
I cant have more than 320x240
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Can this app be enhanced to use the usb cable rather than wifi?
Can it be enhanced to work with other front facing camera phones?
working @ HTC Desire
can confirm that this app works on an x10 and w7 ultimate x64
skype recognized it as a webcam, still need to check the config tho
next tests
gtalk
msn
Where do I get the app for the phone ?
The title states this can be used as an HD Webcam... I tried the standard HD resolution (From Wikipedia: 720p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes having a resolution of 1280×720) but with this resolution the app FC's which it states it does if not setup correctly. The highest resolution I can goto is 480x480, going any higher on either height or width causes distortion in the picture. Anyone have any other suggestions for getting this to be HD?

At least you can get it to work. I used the recommended settings, it still wants me to force close; even in 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7, it only shows the DroidCam logo in the Skype video area.

Isn't it only Wi-Fi? Should I use EasyTether and try it like that over the USB cable?

AFAIK it is only wifi, what I meant is could it be the pc isn't "seeing" the phone over the network? Or vice-versa.

Well the phone connected, the PC says "Connected". I could only get the phone to connect once though. Once I've connected and disconnected by a force close, the program no longer connected even when I can telnet into the computer on that port. This happened to all 3 computers I tried.

Hmm, that is rather weird, even after the FC's for me it still works, I just lowered the resolution. All I can think of is telling the dev about it and see if they can help or if someone else here can help. I don't know that much about the way this works really.

Oddly enough, I think I could try it via EasyTether and see since that /is/ an Ethernet connection meaning it will work to connect by IP.

Ah I see, well give it a try and tell me if that works please, because I'd quite like to be able to use something like that rather than over wifi.

I confirmed it worked. Thanks for the idea . Well; you didn't quite give me the idea but you helped me come up with it .
Although, the same issue is happening with the transport something.
Im having an issue. After using for over 10minutes straight I get a time limit error message on my pc screen and it drops the connection and im forced to restart both apps on phone and pc. Help?
Also I cant go above recommended settings. Would this be updated in the future? especially since my phone is capable of recording 720p?
Tmo G2
Just to say it works flawlessly (thus far) on HD2 running MDJ Desire HD Build 4.0

[Q] Splashtop mirroring360 app

New app from Splashtop, but I can't seem to get it to work with my IPAD3 running IOS 8. The IPAD seems to see the firetv but wont connect.
Has anybody else tried this yet?
I haven't tried it but this works perfectly for mirroring iPads/iPhones or sending photos/videos to the firetv.

Thanks for the link, I have tried the airplay dlna app and it does work and now the Splashtop app works but only as long as the dlna app is also running.
The only difference is with dlna running I am given another option in the ipads mirroring drop down list, something like "[email protected]" as opposed to the usual "android-aftb-740".
The Splashtop app seems to have better picture quality when it works.

[REVIEW] DBPOWER 720p Wireless Network IP Camera

The DBPower 720p Wireless IP Cam is the first actual IP camera that I have owned. While I have used others, I have never owned one. When looking through different products, I came across this item because of its two way audio. This was a large factor in my purchase because I have a child on the way and I figured that this would be better than a traditional baby monitor. The following is my impression of the device.
Setup:
It took me a while to setup this camera because of the convoluted setup instructions. I had to reset the device multiple times to get it to register with my network. This is probably due to my impatience. Once I let the device sit and the app do its thing, it finally registered and that was all that was needed to get it setup. Though the setup was not terrible, I don't like the actual software that is recommended for the camera. Instead, I downloaded an ONVIF application and pointed it towards the device's IP (which I found in my routers database of connected devices). The IP camera uses port 5000 for ONVIF administration.
Use:
To test out the camera, I put it in both a well lit area and a completely black area. The camera did well in both situations. I did not know that there was an infrared light on the camera but realized it when staring at myself on my phones screen in the dark. I also tested the device with an ethernet cable attached. Do note that though the ethernet adapter uses a microUSB male connector on one side, it CANNOT be used on a phone with OTG. This is because it is literally just a pin adapter, as can be seen by the pictures included in my review.
Final thoughts:
The device met all my expectations, but I dislike the application that is supposed to be used with it. After sniffing the traffic using WireShark, I determined that the real app that the camera's firmware is designed for is "2Cu" but any ONVIF application should be able to be used after the initial setup. ONVIF manager for Windows works too.
Testing Method:
To understand how the camera operates, I connected it through ethernet to to internet connected laptop and used WireShark to sniff the data to and from the device. It doesn't seem like there is an actual video stream coming from the device, but rather a bunch of pictures. The only thing that I did find was that the stream is an RTSP stream and can be viewed at rtsp://[USERNAME]:[PASSWORD]@[IP OF DEVICE]:554/onvif1 (Your username is the numerical code on the device, and the password is 123 by default but can be changed in the cameras default application.)
Pros:
Good video quality
Good viewing angle
Fast live video stream
Decent 2 way audio quality
Good Night vision
Small form factor
Mounting kit included
Plethora of apps available for use (ONVIF)
Cons:
The software that must be installed to setup the camera.
Here is a link to the camera and a 20% off coupon code for it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B014IS11NY Code: 2V74UHML

I don't believe you can, but there are other models by the same company that allow you to move the camera inside the app. This one must be manually turned.
