I'm trying to reset a phone to the official rom (running MIUI now), and have been told to download this file:
PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed (.zip)
Told meg to rename it to PB99IMG.zip and place it on SD. The file was supposed to start by itself when starting the phone in HBOOT. But nothing happens.
What could be wrong? Please don't tell me to read another thread, I don't understand a word in these threads.
The phone belongs to a girl, and she's without a phone until this issue is solved. Some quick help would be great.
Solved, the zip was renamed to .zip.zip.

Hello All,
I finally decided to upgrade my ROM. I downloaded the HardSPL which was in nbh format. DID the soft reset to read from internal storage. Now I am stuck at the grey screen with Loading.... on that.. have i bricked my phone...
please tell me .. I am online.. and will be checking the answers.. I need your guys help...
Please help...
Should I remove the battery....
I think I am panicking....
EDIT: I removed the battery and phone was ok afterwards but it dint do anything. I just need clarification here
I downloaded the HARD spl file from here. I downloaded just RUU_Signed_1_93OliNex_HSPL_UnsignedEdition.zip this file. Unzip it and found RUU_Signed.nbh file in it. Renamed the file to DIAMIMG.nbh and put in my root directory of internal storage. << (is this okay?)
Am I supposed to do this... or I am completely wrong. Please direct me right direction.
Noob question...when installing a ROM on the Evo does the .zip file on the SD card have to be named PC36IMG? For instance, if I download Fresh, do I rename it PC36IMG to install it?
I didn't. That file was used when I first rooted the phone. After that, the name of the file didn't matter. Just as long as the extension was .zip.
Yeah, It can be named whatever, you just need to go into recovery and select the zip to be ran. Pretty simple.
Thanks for the replies. It turns out the problem was my Fresh 0.3 download was bad. A new download worked great.
But for some freaky reason my update.zip got deleted when I flashed DJ Droid..
and I can't find that freaking file anywhere!!!!
I just need a link, so I can get it back on my SD card, and then this thread is gonna be deleted.. Hope i don't piss off too many people =/

You mean the FakeFlash update.zip?
You can find it here: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...unching-recovery-on-your-device-without-a-pc/
Downloaded it, and I still can't go into recovery mode on my phone..!
When I press "Apply sdcard:update.zip it just aborts, saying that there is no such file.. please help me!

Download the file, rename it to update.zip and put it in the root directory on your sd card.
Awesome!!!!
I can be such a noob sometimes!!!!! But thank you so much!!!!!!
EDIT!!!!!!
Every time I try to install a new ROM through ROM Manager it keeps failing.. All I see is a picture of a desire lying down with a big red question mark over it.. What to do?
Let me guess... you're probably using Mac OSX 10.6.x.
If so, anything you download having .zip extension (or any compressed file for that matter) is automatically extracted.
You can find the .zip file in the Trash. Just send it over to somewhere convenient.
I do, but i downloaded the file directly on the Phone :-s
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
okay guys this is my first android phone, first time rooting, first time for all of it basically.
i have a galaxy s3 i747m that i managed to root already. now i downloaded a ROM that i want and using android file exchange( I AM ON A MAC MAYBE MY PROBLEM?)
so i found the file on my mac, opended file exchange, put the file on my SD card.
now when i go into ROM manager i go to "install ROM from SD card" but it shows me everything thats on my phone not my SD card....i looked everywhere but the file is not there and i cant figure out why its doing this.
so i thought maybe if i save it to my phone i can find it,so i did that and i found the ROM file, but now when i open the file it just shows me
META-INF/ and system/ but on my computer it shows me something called BOOT.IMG.
im guessing this is the part of the file i need since nothing else works?
let me know guys im stuck, and sorry for the long post.
thanks guys!

DON'T touch this boot.img you taklking about.
Can you cannect phone by USB to your mac? ( sorry i'm PC guy). If you do just go open your phone with explorer in you mac then create folder on SD card "ROMS" in example , copy downloaded rom from your mac to phone this way you will know where it is. Now if you did not install CWM (clockwork mod recovery) install one from Rom Manager and reboot in it. Choose install from card and find roms folder you created and rom you copied in to folder choose this rom. Now follow instruction.
BTW. Before you start flashing roms READ more anthill you sure you know how is done for 100%. There are so many info how this should be done. READ this first :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725839 Twice if you have to.
Good luck
As the topic states i was wondering if anyone here could create an update zip that will replace a specific file. i have a copy of the original file that needs to overwrite my existing one. My phone is the one touch fierce from metro pcs. my problem is that the phone will boot all the way to the metropcs screen but no further. i modded the file using root explorer. the name and location of the file is "ProjectConfig.mk" located in ----system/data/misc/ProjectConfig.mk-------
i edited some stuff in it so i know that's my problem because i messed with nothing else.
i have tried to attempt this myself but do not have the necessary skills to perform what i am asking at this time.
the reason i am asking for an update zip is because i can get the phone into recovery and am able to apply updates via adb sideload or browse from sd card.
i have attached a zip with the original file in it.
I would be very gratefull if someone could help me with this. thanks again
