Don't mean to "rain on the parade" but this is kinda old news.
EDIT: Nvm, by the end of March, yay!
EDIT 2: Maybe not nvm, where does it say by the end of March?

The Sensations are getting it in March, no word of a timeframe for our phone

Imho, I was going to update to the rezound for the ice. But now that I hear this, there is hope, the world hasn't stopped. N we get a delicious dessert. Now when the devs start making Roms based on 4.0, that's when the real fun starts. Now I just gotta hold out on using my upgrade until quad core comes out!

Froyo To Roll Out On 3 Devices Next Week!

It looks like Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be making its way to your devices very soon. Thanks to a Verizon tipster who claims that the Motorola Droid X, the HTC Droid Incredible, and the Motorola Droid will be receiving the Android 2.2 update at the same time. He also stated that this not a rumor, but confirmed. He said that HTC and Motorola will be release Android 2.2 simultaneously and will start pushing out the Android 2.2 update beginning August 6th, which is next Friday. It’s expected to hit all of these devices by August 15th. That’s great news and potentially ads substance to the rumor that the Motorola Droid 2 will ship with Android 2.2.
Keep your fingers crossed and an eye on your device.
I got this from Androidspin.com
doubt it. HTC and Motorola are 2 seperate companies and each have their own skin. Also, confirmed means by HTC or motorola, not a 'tipster'
that sounds exciting.

Ice Cream Sandwich update for T-Mobile G2

Does anyone think or know if htc will roll out an update for the G2 to get android 2.4. As we already know it we will be getting android 2.3 gingerbread sooner than we think

Yea maybe it will be for high end 3D devices only to enhance 3D experience, and G2 is not 3D, like evo 3D, G2x, and the 3D devices to come

Ehh, I expect the nexus s will be able to handle it, but it will most likely be geared towards dual core devices. We'll get it, if not htc than from Cyanogen.
But I wouldn't worry about this for a nice long while.

Google announced 2.4 at Google I/O 2011 the other day, but didn't say that 2.4 was Ice Cream. I think 2.4 is just an updated Gingerbread, sort of like 2.0 to 2.1 was still Eclair, and 3.0 to 3.1 is still Honeycomb. I have a feeling Ice Cream will be something more like 3.2 or higher, since it's supposed to be the fusion of Honeycomb and Gingerbread and cover all devices.
That being said, I'm hopeful that Google will cover us with the update, since HTC is one of their 18 partners that promises to give quick OS updates within 18 months of the device releasing, of which the end of this year still would cover us.

Most refs on the 'net state the next version's number to be 3.4. They certainly won't be naming is 2.4 since 2.4<3.0. You simply don't go backwards in versioning.

Yeah, Google will announce the updates. What about the carriers and manufacturers who like to skin their Android builds with buggy-at-best themes like Sense and Blur?

To elaborate a little more on what Gawantu said, at io, Google said they partnered with the manufacturers and carriers, including HTC and Motorola, to bring out updates for up to 18 months after a device is released. But how quickly hasn't been said.
Honestly though, if it took the CM team just 4 months to bring CM7 stable to 20 something devices including a couple tablets, with different hardware, while doing it in their spare time all the while having to reverse engineer and hack their way through it. It shouldn't take any longer for the professional developers at say, HTC, to bring an update to a few that are similarly spec'd and have all the resources to do so even while making a new version of Sense.

As far as i can read they will be releasing ice cream sandwich as android 4.0
Seeing as this version of android is being developed for both smartphones and tablets.

So now that we have that super important technicality out of the way, any speculation as to whether or not we'll see ICS as an OTA update? I'm hesitant to assume that we will. I think CM8 is our best hope. Or CMwhatever.
CM9, lol
but HTC is really debating on relasing or not because of something to do with sense and they want to figure out which direction today... best bet is going to have to wait for CM9 like all of us are doing so impatiently haha
I wrote a letter to HTC months ago asking the future upgrade
they didnt give me clear answer
Seems to me that DZ will not get further upgrade

From my understanding HTC will only be releasing ICS for 1ghz+ and duel core devices. But seeing as our DZ is capable of 2ghz+ someone should be able to get it working

HTC hasn't stated any restrictions for the upgrade, but they are a business. The G2 wasn't a huge hit (not sure about the Desire Z), and we have already seen a major upgrade for our device. Do the math guys.

Nexus not the first ics phone?

The HTC rezound is set to launch 11/14 with ics. Do you think Verizon will get the nexus out before then?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
It doesn't ship with ICS, it ships with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5. But will get ICS later.

It's using Gingerbread

If you actually read the articles, you'd see that it's not launching with ICS, but will get an ICS update in 'early 2012'. That being said, the nexus will still be the first phone running ICS.

Oh, and I post these in the Incredible forums for people who might have to wait longer on their contract, or something, or other reasons why some Incredible users might have to wait

same reason why I never bothered posting there, prefer being a lurker than going in and posting the obvious.
edit: Funny part is, the person who started the thread doesnt even have the T-989 anymore so probably doesnt even care whether we get the source or not.
This thread just made me spill Dr.Pepper out my nose, oh this was funny as hell. All in all though @OP, Samsung has done their job. It's the carriers which are slow to get the update out to the users -- T-Mobile.
